Large selection of coffee any way you want it. Very large menu for sure. Simple hot food menu and bake goods. I ordered a Moroccan Iced Coffee which was enjoyable. Saturday at around noon place is busy with a long line to order but with 3 baristas service was quick. Next time will order avocado toast. You can get buzzed here for sure. I am obsessed with Better Buzz's chai! Seriously, it is the best chai that I've ever had anywhere. Sometimes chais can be too spicy but this one is more on the sweet side and is smooth and delicious. This location unfortunately doesn't have a drive thru and is located in the heart of Encinitas on the 101 so it's a bit difficult to find parking. I had to park a couple blocks away, which I wouldn't always be willing to do, but on this day I had a second stop to make down the street anyway. The service was bad and I NEVER want to play a race card but it's funny the white girl who was attending and making drinks didn't say hi or welcome when she saw us we only get a "yall ready to order" but when the white guy comes in "hi sir welcome I'll be with you in a moment". I had coffee there 4 times while I was on vacation and I can tell you this place is super busy. The staff serves you and moves on because there is a line out the door the coffee is ok but not excellent. Its well just coffee and we purchased some espresso and its eh. Been coming here for years, not sure why I haven't reviewed this place yet but this is still one of my favorite places in Encinitas. Came in recently and they are so consistent in how they make their drinks. My go to is their rose water latte, the lavender latte with almond milk or their matcha latte. Friends have raved about their Hazelnut divinity and it's a little too sweet for my liking. Takes a little while for you to get your drinks but it's worth the wait. Service is great. I always love to try new coffee houses that don't have a mermaid on them. There was a line to go in so that was a good sign. It was my 400pm iced coffee break so that's what I ordered. The coffee was very good but it needed to be sweetened and a few packs of sugar made it the way I like it. I like the Buzz interior and the imagination used for some of the furnishings. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in the world, I come multiple times a week and buy the vanilla powder to make my own Better Buzz at home. Their iced vanilla latte literally cannot be beat and I have tried so many coffee shops. Most workers are nice but one lady is always rude to me and every other customer. I was triggered to make this review as I listened to her actually yell at two customers across a 30 minute time when I was sitting trying to work on my laptop. She very much ruins the vibes of this normally peaceful establishment. (She wasn't wearing a name tag but id the 50 year old woman with grey highlighted hair). I recommend * the pink dragon smoothie * an iced dirty chai * an iced matcha latte * avacado toast * og açaí bowl The vibes in this coffee shop are immaculate-- perfect for studying or working remotely! I definitely stop by here every now and then to do work at this location. The shop itself is very bright and open. The bathroom is always clean. And the workers are some of the most hardworking workers I've ever seen! 50% of the time the line for better buzz is OUT THE DOOR, and these workers are busted their little bee butts to make sure everything tastes perfect as always. Personally, I'd have a minor melt down if I were to work at one of the most popping coffee shops on a Main Street and I saw THAT LINE-- I hope everyone who decides to visit this location keeps that in mind! Because it does look a little crazy sometimes. It's one of those chains that can be cool and chic but the crowd is a mix, can be cool but can also be snobby. The beverages were just okay, most are sweetened like the matcha is already sweet. I love the variety and creativity on the menu, it just doesn't deliver that way. They also don't ask you what size you want and default to the large but list the price of a small. The large drinks just feel watered down. Typically you would add another shot of espresso but theirs just felt weak, so I would go for a smaller size that's less diluted with milk. read more

I stopped by here to do some studying on the way from North county down to La Jolla. There was only street parking that I saw but it wasn't too difficult to find on a weekday afternoon. I was at first disappointed to see that this place has a more limited menu compared to the Hillcrest location. I usually like to get the ricotta toast but since they didn't have that, I settled for the poached egg and toast. It was simple and good but nothing amazing. Just some good study food. The perks of this place is that it is right next to water so if you want to take a study break you can get some relaxing views! read more

I usually never have any complaints whenever I get anything from Better Buzz, but it must have been a really off day because the drinks were very watery. I had the mint infused coffee and it tasted like milk even after mixing it really well. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in the quality of my drinks. Visiting from NorCal and decided to try and see what the hype was all about! And WOW the coffee & smoothie did not disappoint. Sunday afternoon the line was long but went by super quick, the staff is very on it when it comes to taking orders all while still making costumers feel welcomed! I asked manager and then again in a yelp review months ago (which was removed) if they could consider offering a plant-based protein for their smoothies. It makes NO SENSE that their ONLY option is whey. Whoever reads yelp messages read my follow-up recently and ignored it, no reply. Why exclude customers who are allergic to dairy, who want to make a healthier choice, or who care about the well-being of animals? Whey protein gives you acne because of the hormones in dairy, by the way. It would be so easy to simply offer a plant-based protein powder for everyone (if they don't want to have two options), as anyone would be able to consume it. And it is not more expensive. This place is amazing all around. I went to the best culinary school in the country. But this place some of the best things I've ever had. Almond croissant...not just thin almonds but thick slivered, and lots of almond cream in the middle...I will dream about the croissant dough! Perfection. The Better Breakfast Sandwich: perfection. Super bummed because I want to love it, it's so convenient for me. The other day I went in with my two kids and there was no one in line. I waited, expecting to get my drink fairly soon -- no joke 15 minutes went by (and of course I saw they were making other drinks that they had on the line) and I asked the barista when mine would be up. She said she had 8 drinks before mine. I ended up waiting, with a newborn and a 3 year old over twenty minutes for an iced americano. She explained to me that they had huge phone orders called in just before me -- but, if you have any kind of awareness or customer service ability, you'd let the mom with two kids know that before she ordered. Went back yesterday. Ordered breakfast for the whole family & coffees. We spent over $60, and it was not good. The avocado toast was not edible (and I'm not super picky). The avocado was bitter and you could tell way too ripe to serve, it should have been thrown away (which I did). The smoothie bowl my son got had so little fruit on top, I wish I'd have taken a pic because typically it has about three times the fruit. I can say it was probably one of the most unique flavors I've ever had in a coffee, and I was trying to slurp up every last drop. Its definitely one of my favorite cafes in San Diego, and they even have oat milk which is great for my lactose intolerant body. The one thing I will say is this place is pretty pricey. Be prepared to drop $5 or more on a latte or coffee drink. That, however, is becoming more and more normal though, so the costs aren't overly surprising. read more

Despite being a modest sized place, all the tables were full. I guess the locals do appreciate having Better Buzz Coffee! I wasn't really sure what to get, but I knew that I had to try something from this place. In the end, I decided to get the 'Best Drink Ever' which is their signature Americano with sweetness, cream, and vanilla. I've had Americano before, and none tasted as good as this one; maybe it really is the best drink ever... The Americano was refreshing and the flavor was also perfect. It wasn't bland or too sweet. I can't drink coffee without cream, so this is what I expect from a good coffee! Better Buzz Coffee is another place that I will have to come back to when I'm in San Diego. The Best Drink Ever was great, although there were also other drinks I would like to try as well. So many drinks...not enough San Diego trips.
