Everbowl has blossomed into numerous locations around San Diego and Riverside counties. My wife and I first became fans of Everbowl when we discovered them in Poway several years ago. From that time on, we have always kept our eye out for them. To this day, the Poway location is still our favorite branch. Fast forward to last month, we found them in Encinitas. Found out that they are a franchise now. Although, I do not know if this specific branch is corporate run or franchisee run. This Everbowl was very aesthetically pleasing. Beautifully decorated throughout the shop. Nice modern design and the shop was clean. No dining inside allowed at the time because of health and safety protocols caused by the evil "c" word. One young lady on duty to assist us that evening. We arrived about 10 minutes before closing, and there were 7 of us in the family. She went about her business and created our customized acai bowls. Everyone liked their customized Acai bowls from Everbowl. I picked the "Chewy" option as my superfood base. It is a combination of acai and peanut butter. I should have stuck to just Acai as my base. Anyways, I thought the portion sizes were just right, and the prices were reasonable. All the fruit toppings were in good condition despite it being almost closing time. First and foremost let me start by saying I used to eat at this everbowl two to three times a week for almost a year. I shelled out my hard earned cash because the food was nutritious and delicious, as well as healthy. Fast forward to about two weeks ago when an employee told me I no longer was allowed to get "extra" anything. Mind you, the portions have become minuscule and offensively small over the course of time. As far as I knew, this place was unlimited! Which is exactly why they raised their prices across the board four months ago in order to maintain this standard. The Encinitas everbowl location claimed it's a company standard now, even though no signs were posted; not a single visual update was found anywhere in the store. I called shenanigans and contacted Everbowl corporate. They said this was BS and that unlimited toppings were the foundation of their company. I went back twice since then, discussing with the young children behind the counter that their corporate entity said otherwise. Every time I go back now I get guilt tripped and made to feel unwelcome and unwanted. "We can't afford to give people anything more," I keep being told and "We lose a lot of money! Our manager will get mad at us!" I literally don't care. Raise your prices. Charge extra for certain additions. DO NOT guilt trip your customers, who are already shelling out a very pretty penny for some new age healthy sorbet that's got some fruit and nuts on top. Stopped into this Everbowl (my first visit to anyone) with my son as we wanted an Acai bowl before continuing down to San Diego. Place had great reviews for all locations so off the 5 we went and into the shopping center next to the freeway. We were warmly greeted by the two young ladies working and after looking at the menu ordered a Berry2 and Chewy bowl. Both bowls came with a lot of toppings and the fruit was ripe and tasty. What we both felt something was lacking the Acai base, not sure why but not as good as what we get in Laguna Beach at Banzai Bowl. Overall a very nice experience and a good, not great Acai Bowl. Would for sure go back to any of the locations to get another bowl and try a different bowl even thought we both liked what we got. read more

One day I went to order online and realized they had completely changed their system for ordering a bowl. These changes can feel shocking for a repeat customer who ordered one way for years, but I'm an adaptable human, so I carried on... Ok, now they had 3 different sizes to pick from vs. the one standard size before. Alright, that makes sense. Not everyone loves the bigger portion. However, the SMALLEST size was now the same price as their previous standard (now "large) size. I found this frustrating but figured ok...ugh. I'm addicted to these things! Next phase of ordering...hang on, not only are the sizes different but their long-time classic flavors were now broken into a series of base flavors and a variety of toppings you handpick. I didn't remember what exactly was in the bowl I ordered, so I looked up an old menu online and managed to put something similar. Phew, crisis semi-averted. My bowl gets delivered and I realized the smoothie/bowl bases are now these scoops of premade sorbet-tasting "smoothie." It was sugary and my sweet tooth loved it, but the part of me that was seeking a healthy snack felt unsatisfied. As I *QUICKLY* made my way through the "large" size bowl I found myself wondering: what the heck is this? I understand cutting costs, finding time-saving avenues (i.e. premade bases to scoop vs blending) but at this point, this all felt like a HUGE loss of value. Whether the ingredients of the acai/chewy base are the same as before or not, getting three scoops of premade smoothie smashed at the bottom of the cup did not feel the same as the previous fresh-tasting smoothie blend. Having seemingly forgotten my previous experience, I went into the store and ordered one in person, as I had noticed on my doordash app that the prices seemed unreasonably high. After waiting for several minutes, two young girls giggling at their phones finally peeked their heads out and asked "oh are you ready"? LOL. I then went down the line, having to ask for more toppings at nearly every step, while I assembled a sad replica of my favorite bowl. I got to the register to find out my smoothie bowl was $17.78!!! ALMOST $20?? For three scoops of frozen pre-made smoothie, granola, banana, and peanut butter?! I was so shocked I almost felt like saying never mind. Purely out of principle, you know? Fortunately, I had $3 whole dollars in rewards saved up so it brought it down to $14.78. I was so disappointed and shocked I felt like I needed to contact someone to express my frustrations. Time went on and I honestly didn't feel like taking the time to write out a novel such as the one I've written today. But then today, a mix of hunger and anger struck me all at once when I realized getting an ever bowl was out of the question. I was partially relieved to see other people have felt similarly to me. I get inflation is real out there, but this smoothie costs just as much as an entree at a respectable sit-down RESTARAUNT cost! Soooo disappointing. I truly hope management will reconsider this structure. Now you get blended açaí sorbet. You can't add fruits or different milks and juices into the smoothie base.
