If I lived here, this would be my go-to! We walked in the door, super tired from a long drive, to find this hip, casual, BUZZING atmosphere. The place was packed and alive. Coffee was awesome...the staff was great. Made me feel good, so I'm going back before we head home to Seattle. I was a barista for years and still drink at least 2 coffees per day, so there are my credentials...:) Do yourself a favor and try it out. read more

Whenever I visit San Diego, getting Better Buzz Coffee is a must! I still remember when my best friend took me to try the "Best Drink Ever" at the PB location and it was absolutely phenomenal. It really is the best drink ever! I also love how the cups say "Life is Better Buzzed"! Besides the Best Drink Ever, I really recommend trying the Matcha Green Tea Latte, especially if you're a huge green tea fanatic like me! It's so refreshing and gives you the right amount of energy when you're in need of a caffeine break! This Better Buzz location also has a great selection of food including almond croissants, avocado toast, and delectable breakfast sandwiches. I love coming to this location to catch up with old college friends and bond over delicious snacks and amazing coffee! read more

The "Better breakfast" sandwich was exceptional. Add avocado. Even though they messed up my coffee order. I still leave this review because the sandwich was that good :). read more

Better Buzz Coffee is close to the beach area. It has super cute decor and great drinks. We happened across it walking down the main drag in Encinitas. Everything is picturesque. There's always a crowd, so get there early or prepare to hover if you want a seat. My only criticism is the order system. They don't write your name on the cup. I was seated and couldn't figure if my drink was ready or not. I had to ask a few times what drinks were on the counter because I didn't want to accidentally grab someone else's drink. read more

This place and the entire area of downtown Encinitas is very quaint. On a weekend it's bustling with young people and families. Fair warning that it will be hard to find parking on the main streets but turn to a side street for better luck. The interior is open and a great place for studying or hanging out with friends. They also sell some pastries. I like that they try to be eco friendly by having the no-straw cup designs and paper straws. I ordered the lavender black tea is amazing. It's not too sweet (unless you have a sensitive tongue). Unlike most floral drinks from other places, you can actually taste the syrup. I'm only knocking it down a star because I asked for hot and received iced but didn't have time to get it corrected. read more

Always a delight coming here. Get the chai, or my personal favorite, the chai buzz! Some of the best chai in North County for sure -- not too sweet! The interior of this Better Buzz is so open, refreshing, and welcoming! I just love coming here with my friends for a quick drink before we go to Moonlight beach. Whether you're at this cafe for just a quick pit stop or to study for a couple hours, every visit is wonderful! read more

I hate to leave a review like this but since I have worked in this industry and have an understanding, my experience left me pretty disappointed. I went in yesterday to get a regular lavender black tea latte (something I get regularly). The girl at the front was sweet and it was quick service although it was really busy. I got my drink and immediately the color looked off to me. I tried it and it was not what I ordered (sometimes this happens, no big deal). Usually I would just drink it anyway but I really wanted what I paid for so I went back up to the front and let the girl know. I even put another tip in because I felt bad asking them to remake although I shouldn't. This is where it gets bad. She walks over to the baristas and I see her explaining what happened. One of them ROLLS their eyes. They clearly get annoyed and luckily a tall girl with amazing hair and glasses just takes the cup and starts to remake my drink (she seemed to not want to deal with the crap herself and just took it upon herself to fix the issue which I appreciated). The drink was remade and it was correct this time. Here is my issue though and why I will no longer go to this location, Why on earth would you clear as day mock a customer or get visibly frustrated to remake a drink when it was made wrong? Especially where EVERYONE can see you. I have worked as a Barista for years and I would NEVER do something like this. It truly hurt my feelings and made me feel like crap. I am thankful for the girl who remade the drink without any reaction and I am thankful my drink was great as usual but I won't go back there again. People don't always remember what you do or what you say but they will remember how you made them feel. Customer service is everything. read more

So I'm not a huge coffee snob, I am unable to detect notes of "whisky" or "campfire" in my coffee. I generally categorize a cuppa into "good" "drinkable" and "undrinkable". Popped in here after a pilates class for a caffeine fix. Great fun decor, rustic and sort of industrial minimalist without being cold or sterile. Long line for ordering... I hate waiting in line for anything but decided to stick it out. Service was good once I got to the front of the queue. They had quite a few interesting drink options but I'm pretty much a purist, and usually stick with a straight up brew or espresso. Went wild and crazy this time and ordered a latte. Very glad I did - was one of the best lattes I've ever had. Smooth and creamy and excellent coffee. Definitely in the "good" catergory. Might even have to add a "really good" category for moments like this. read more

The coffee has no flavor, and EVERYTIME I order a regular dark roast hot coffee, there's grounds at the bottom! I always tell them "splash of cream" and they put a ton of cream. The coffee tastes mild...it's just not good. I pay for the ambiance not the actual coffee. Starbucks never disappoints, I'll give my $$ to them read more

It's hard for me to write this review because I am a die hard Better Buzz fan and leaving anything less than a 5-star review makes me feel like a trader. BUT it's because I'm such a fan of their coffee (and that I've visited every location 100 times) that I can compare/contrast the locations. I've been here a few times now and given it many chances, but I have to say comparatively this location doesn't size up to the others, for the following reasons: To start, it doesn't have a drive through - not their fault or a bad thing - but just something to keep in mind because the line is almost always to the door. Also, the costumer service here Isn't as great as its sister locations. I used to be a regular of the PB location, and I swear the employees there always have the highest energy with huge smiles on their face. While it's totally understandable the people here are busy working, I do have to point out there is a noticeable difference. There is a guy that works there with longer hair that always has a smile - have to give credit where it's due! Next, and most importantly, the coffee. The best drink ever is not the best drink here. I'm a huge sweet person, which is why I love the best drink ever. It's that perfect combo of milky & sweet. Several times though, I get shorted on the sweet powder and leave with a dark, strong tasting coffee (probably a little healthier though, eh?) Lastly, I have two dog that I use to religiously take to the PB location. One of the reasons why I fell in love with this place is because they would always offer my pups dog treats or a pupiccino (a small cup of whip cream with a treat on top). The most recent time I came here, I asked and the girl at the register and she looked at me like I was crazy. Again, every location is different, I get it. But it's the small things, like the attention they give to your little munchkins that keeps you coming back - despite the lines. read more

Maddie makes the best hot chocolate ever and great costumer service! Love it here 10/10! Thank you Maddie!

Was super excited to come here after lounging at the beach and thought an Acai bowl and cold brew would be the perfect combo. The cold brew was pretty good black and would definitely order it again. The Acai bowl, or soup, was extremely watery. It was a hot day outside, but that's no reason to have the Acai blend be that watery, it was like eating soup. read more

I just spent the weekend visiting California from Arizona, and every morning my family and I came for coffee at Better Buzz! It's my absolute favorite and when I visit it is a place I always have to go to start the day. This trip I got a different drink every day, all with regular cream/heavy cream. I had the mint-infused iced coffee, the iced honey latte, and the best drink ever. Couldn't go wrong with any of them, but I really like the honey latte. I love that the flavors at Better Buzz don't taste artificial and aren't overwhelming. The Encinitas location is a walk-up location, with limited street parking in front of it. I had no trouble parking on a Sunday morning around 8 am. But on both Friday and Saturday morning I had to walk a decent distance to the store. Not an issue, but definitely worth noting since some locations have a drive thru. Each day the baristas and cashiers were super friendly and loved that I came every day, they remembered me! I can't get enough, and have a bag of coffee at home. Can't wait to be back in California for Better Buzz! read more

Ya'll WHAT is the hype on this. I am so disappointed. My friends loved it and are obsessed but I'm afraid this might just be the place that has the image of being super hip and cool to go to, but it's all talk unfortunately. Go if you are a tourist but if you're a local - eh. Sad to say because their employees are super super nice. Great service there. read more

I love coming to Better Buzz to get work done and have an iced latte. The coffee shop has an amazing avocado toast, they get their bread from bread and seed in Hillcrest and it's amazing. However, if you are coming to do work be prepared it does get loud... it is a really popular place. I have noise canceling head phones and it works great for me. I also want to add that the wifi is unstable so if you are in a zoom meeting it will cut out and every hour or so you have to log back in. read more

My favorite coffee place in California. Whenever I go to the beach this is a must atop in my way home.

Coffee was good! They have a basic menu, however they can create other drinks. Makes it a little difficult if you are trying to order something more fancy. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Only complain was the wait time. Cost for a daily coffee is high, but nice for a treat while you walk Encinitas. read more

I am a fan! I love trying coffee places when I am on vacation and Better Buzz was a great find. The coffee was so good that I had them grind a pound of espresso beans for me to bring home. I of course had to try one of their handcrafted drinks and opted for the "Best drink ever" which is a classic American + Signature creamy vanilla. It was a hot day so I ordered one served over ice and it was a cold, refreshing, dreamy and creamy delight. If I lived closer, I'd go in for one every day. All of their Handcrafted drinks sounded amazing, plus they had a large selection of options from their "Purist bar." I wish Better Buzz would open up locations in the Bay area! read more

I visit this location very often so it's really disappointing to see how the service has deteriorated recently. I don't live very close to this Better Buzz, but the quality and service originally made it the one which I would go out of my way for. Unfortunately, the staff seems to have almost completely changed for at least the first half of the day's team and I have been argued with, ignored, told I couldn't order something when the people before and after me were able to (very weird), and my order hasn't been right more times than not recently (I don't get anything difficult). I would like to say I'll continue to visit the Encinitas location but if I'm no longer getting at least decent service what's the point? read more

Love it here. Food is pricey but coffee is tasty!! Stoked they have a public restroom. All coffee shops should if you know what I mean.

This place definitely gets a lot of foot traffic because of the trendy aesthetic. The coffee is good but I wouldn't say that it is life changing by any means. Also please don't pay $9 for avocado toast people. If you do attempt to order 'the best drink ever' I would recommend that you order it half sweetened if you aren't a huge fan of overly sweet drinks. read more

I wanted so badly to love this coffee. Ordered a iced vanilla blend before heading to the beach last weekend. Upon first sip it's delicious, but after two sips the sweetness is overbearing. Don't get me wrong, I love sweets, and I get vanilla lattes and frozen drinks all the time, but unfortunately this one was $5 that went right into the trash :/. I even tried to give it away to friends, but they couldn't drink it either. Maybe it was just the person making my drink, but I won't be giving them another try anytime soon :/ read more

Now I've been back from my vacation in San Diego for almost two weeks now but I am still dreaming of the açaí!! Not only did I have it once, but twice in one day for breakfast and lunch. I had the OG first and then the Islander. I drowned them in honey and fell more and more in love with every spoonful. I loved being with some great company and feeling a little buzzed from the deliciousness because well life is better buzzed. Very nice workers and good vibes. I had the Best Drink Ever. That's both the name of the drink and my opinion. It reminded me of myself--sweet, creamy, and delicious. ;-) The vibe is nice. The space is comfortable with plenty of seating, which is great as it can get quite busy. Came in in a Wednesday around 11am and the place was full. The coffee is decent. But the one thing that really disappointed me was the internet situation. For a place that appears from the outside to be a great cowork space, I felt like I was trying to access AOL dial-up. Only offering password-free, guest access, with absolutely horrible conmection. It's not that it was slow, it literally was inaccessible. Managed to connect briefly, but couldn't connect a VPN or even check an email, before it went dark again. Go elsewhere if you're looking to get any work done. Buzz - this should be a priority aspect of your business model, get with the program. Wouldn't have dropped $6 on a coffee if I knew I couldn't use the space. read more

You know what I really enjoyed about this place? They have the best Granola Chocolate Coconut Bar---it was so good and melts in your mouth. I ordered their Mexican Chocolate Latte (I forgot the exact name) and it was ok, the spice was overpowering the espresso so I didn't have the taste of the coffee itself. Next time I'll try their espresso and brewed coffee. I'll definitely be coming back! The place has a great ambiance and I love the color of their espresso machine and I think they have the La Marzocco if I'm not mistaken. read more

A very locally supported welcome to Better Buzz on MainStreet in Encinitas has been going on since they opened last week. I was there on the first day, and a couple times since and it was a 5 star experience from day one, even when they were working out the kinks! The product is fantastic. You'll find all your favorite coffee drinks, plus cold brew on tap, smoothies and some bites as well. Fresh pastries, sandwiches, etc - the couple I've had were yummy indeed. The decor is adorable too - a mix of cute and industrial. Warm woods, including a large table with the word Community carved into it which speaks volumes of their intent. A few touches of sea-green throughout, with the mugs and espresso machine make it a balanced look over all. The internet is free for those who are drinking and eating onsite and decently fast. There isn't a ton of seating as it's super busy but if you catch a break - the "hanging" two top tables along the wall have plugs under a few of them. Succulents, service - this new coffee shop has it all. read more

OMG "Best Drink Ever" oh yes you definitely earned my five stars. Classic bold and smooth Americano with the added taste of vanilla make for yes the best drink ever. Oh my goodness was it delicious that I dared and went back in line for a second cup to go. Wow is all I can say about their coffee and my fellow baseball moms fell in love with the cold brewed coffee. I forgot the name of the pastry that I got but it was so so delicious and their avocado toast, yes Amazeballs... Wow everything we ordered was delicious and no it was not because we were in need of coffee and sweets after a long day of baseball, but seriously everything was good. The ambiance also hip and modern, the store very bright and well lit, with a cool relaxed vibe even though the places was beyond packed at 3:00pm, but who would resist not coming here. Plenty of space to sit get some work done on the laptop or simply put in some headphones and enjoy a good book. The service super welcoming with friendly baristas happily working hard getting all those drinks out, yes they deserve a lot of credit for cranking out those drinks in this super, delicious, and super cool coffee shop that was beyond busy. Yes definitely a place to visit if you're in the area. read more

What a great location for my first Better Buzz Coffee experience! This Encinitas location is inviting with it's modern and fresh decor. There was a busy line, but the wait was worth it. This is the 4th location I've been to in San Diego and it's keeping up with the consistency of better buzz as my favorite study-coffee shop. I felt that I was in love with the street this place was located on. Highway 101 has like a sort of downtown, artsy, So Cal air. This location is great for studying with plenty of natural lighting and seats (but only a few that are comfortable for long periods of time). I still have my favorite drink, the white mocha buzz, and the pesto aioli sandwich was crisp and flavorful. I'm also the type who's willing to pay for ambience and location if it means I'll be studying there for a while. Overall it's a great location, and the baristas are obviously very passionate and friendly. There's enough space, ventilation and design to feel at home! It could be a bit cleaner with the crumbs and whatnot but with the frequency of people coming in and out I don't ding them much for it! Dog-friendly (on the outside) with the classic large better buzz windows means more dog (and people) watching :) read more

The 3 things I enjoyed about this fine cafe establishment was the personality of barista, quality of drink and food and environment. The barista was very pleasant, had a huge smile and was helpful. The coffee drinks came out fast and was very fresh. The quality of my hot "Best drink ever" was great. I was not displeased at all. The quality of the chocolate muffin was soft fresh and melted in your mouth. The environment is very modern and Decor is easy on the eyes. There was plenty of seating for my family of 6. I give 4/5 stars because I never give 5/5 unless I am blown away and I do not want to dilute my subjective opinions. read more

Fun place, with great tasting coffee. We really enjoyed our little walk to get coffee and a sandwich. The service was very friendly, and efficient. The environment was clean and other patrons were also pleasant. They were very dog friendly with guests chatting together about their day and dogs, which was cute. The only thing I would have done differently is asked for something green on my sandwich. I don't remember exactly what I had but it was basically a grilled cheese. Cool decor and atmosphere and good service, but they didn't make it clear where to pick up the coffee. They took my name when I ordered so I assumed they'd call it out, but they weren't calling any names out. After waiting for at least 5 minutes, I notice someone walk around to the other side of the coffee bar and get a drink, so I figured it out. Very inefficient set up and very busy.
