This was my first experience with Credence and the atmosphere was new, modern and a little noisy. The lunch gnocchi was my first experience with gnocchi (in particular cornmeal gnocchi) so I have nothing with which to compare; I would probably not have it again but it wasn't bad. I have had plenty of beet salads and this didn't make the top ten. The grilled tuna salad my husband ordered rated a 0 on a scale of 1-5. The tuna may have been grilled as advertised, but there was no evidence of it, and there was absolutely no taste to it. I would have expected there to be some seasoning, but again, no evidence. The green beans were so crunchy they might as well have been fresh-picked and the sauce over the snow peas was so tasteless, Ranch dressing would have been a huge improvement. I could only eat one, and I really like snow peas. Until they get a better chef, I will not be returning.

The ambiance was beautiful too, and the speakeasy was such a fun bonus. The monkey bread was the perfect way to start ! Warm, soft, and dangerously easy to keep eating. The baked potato was probably one of my favorite sides; it was super creamy with this crusted layer that basically melted in your mouth. The NY Strip steak was perfectly seasoned and definitely lived up to expectations. The branzino was fresh and cooked well, but the seasoning was a little too subtle for me, so it didn't stand out as much as the other dishes. I also wasn't a huge fan of the cabbage. Overall though, Credence absolutely delivered. Great food, great service, beautiful atmosphere, and plenty of dishes I'd come back for.

Even with the indecisiveness of some of my friends, Luis was patient and not only gave some great suggestions, but also was very knowledgeable with the menu. Anyways, this restaurant has been open now for seven years and I have always liked the design of the place. The way they kept the roof pitch in the main dining area to make such a small space look more spacious. Of course, that does cause the place to be on the loud side of things. But for being seven years old, the place is well kept and in very good condition. As for the food, I had decided to go with the salmon tartare bites and the lobster roll as my appetizer. The salmon tartare was cut up salmon mix with avocado and places on a crispy rice cake that gave it texture and crunch with every bite. And the slice of jalapeño on the top of each bite gave it a perfect kick of spice. And the lobster roll had to rich flavor of the lobster and butter with every bit, yet the bun was not soggy at all. For my main course, I had the Nasi Lemak, which is a yellow curried cod with grounded peanuts drizzled on top of it for added salty flavor and texture. The cod was perfectly cooks and moist and the curry did not over power the flavor of the fresh cod. And I ended the night with their bread pudding. The soft and fluffy bread pudding sat on a caramel sauce while pecans was the topping. With the vanilla cream on the side to pair with everything, it was the perfect dessert to make my dinner there a pleasant one.

The fried chicken was well balanced, good brine and a crispy delicate batter. The bread with butter and jam was also quite decent. And prices were not too jaw breaking for an upscale brunch experience. Would definitely come back again!

The Nancy cakes were simple but comforting, and with the roe made it an incredible experience. We also tried the lamb tartare and the burger, and both blew our minds away. Sometimes the simplest dishes tell you everything you need to know about a kitchen. The atmosphere is another reason I'd return. It's cozy and inviting, with enough personality to make the experience feel special without being overly formal. Perfect for a casual date night, dinner with a girlfriend, or one of those evenings when you just want to enjoy good food somewhere with a little character. Would I return? Absolutely. And yes, I'm ordering that chicken again. My recommendation: Put Nancy's Hustle on your Houston restaurant list, especially if you appreciate intimate neighborhood spots with genuinely good food. I opted for the high top right by the kitchen, and honestly, great choice -- it smelled amazing. Most people prefer not to sit by the kitchen with all the foot traffic but I didn't mind it at all. Nobie's is a house that's been transformed into a restaurant. One of the bartenders told me it's a 104-year-old house, and the whole place has very "house party" vibes in the best way. The music is LOUD. And it gets progressively louder as the night goes on, so if that's not your vibe, keep that in mind. But I was very into it. Lil Flip was playing when I walked in and it took me back to high school house parties. On shuffle were more throwbacks and classics: Ludacris and "Notorious Thugs" by Biggie. The chairs, however, were not my favorite. They're low-backed and kind of cage-like, with only a thin cushion, so they aren't exactly the most comfortable for a long meal. Started with a cocktail: the Remolacha del Corazón -- beet tequila, mezcal, watermelon (house-made syrup), lime and a tajín rim. You can hardly taste the mezcal, which I'm assuming is the point. I like mezcal so it would have been nice to taste it but the beet tequila is definitely the star, with the watermelon and lime adding a nice balance. Appetizer: Don't Worry, Brie Happy ($18). Brie, local honey, smoked grapes, toast. There was basically no local honey on my plate, but those smoked grapes?! They're topped with flaky salt while they're still hot and OMG!! The combination of warm, smoky, sweet and salty was fantastic. My only complaint was the amount of toast. There was a little too much toast for the amount of brie and grapes, so the ratios felt slightly off. Main course: Jamón With Your Bad Self ($45). Ibérico secreto pork steak, tonnato, shaved Brussels sprouts, salsa verde and almonds. I'm particular about pork, so I was taking a bit of a chance here, but this dish sounded too interesting to pass up. The pork steak was cooked perfectly and had some wonderfully crispy pieces around the edges. The tonnato underneath the pork was really good. It almost reminded me of a Caesar dressing and added this rich, savory element to the dish. The shaved Brussels sprouts were great, too, especially with the almonds and Parmesan. Everything worked really well together. Dessert: Olive Oil Cake. A house staple, and for good reason. A lovely way to end the meal. Overall, Nobie's has a really fun, unpretentious energy. Between the old-house setting, loud music and memorable dishes, it feels like somewhere you go to hang out as much as you go to eat. Just know what you're getting into with the volume and the seating -- this is not exactly a quiet, polished fine-dining experience, and that's kind of the charm.

For appetizers, I highly recommend the yellowtail sashimi. I'm sorry I didn't post a picture - I was SO hungry. I literally ate it like candy. Speaking of candy, it has Pop Rocks on top of the yellowtail. See how I tied that in, kids? My friends (also Yelp Elite) and I decided to do everything family-style. Since it's Restaurant Week (really Restaurant Month), we ordered a bunch of appetizers. The blue crab hush puppies were my second favorite. I wasn't a huge fan of the heirloom tomato because the wheat bread was way too thick for my liking. I would have preferred sourdough. But let's be honest - the reason I come here is for the mac & cheese and steak. I got the steak flight, which is about $110, but it's worth every penny. The Wagyu literally cuts like butter. The sides are HUGE and easily shareable with four people, so keep that in mind when ordering. Unfortunately, my friend did not enjoy his swordfish. His exact words were, "It tastes like dried chicken." My wife ordered the salad and absolutely loved it. Once again, the portion was enormous. If I'm judging this place solely on the wine, steaks, sides, and atmosphere, it's an easy five stars. You just have to know what to order. I was definitely disappointed to hear about the fish, but everything else keeps bringing me back.

I was quickly escorted to my table, and I later noticed that the restaurant also has some private dining areas, which I thought was a nice touch. One thing I found a little unusual was that you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the restroom. The staff does announce when someone is walking through the kitchen, so it felt safe, but it was still a little unexpected. For dinner, I tried one of the specials that evening: an 8-ounce steak served with asparagus and potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the potatoes were nice and crispy around the edges. The steak could have used a little more seasoning, but it was still flavorful overall. My boyfriend ordered the redfish, which was a very generous portion and seasoned really well. However, the crab fries that came with it were very bland and definitely could have used more flavor. I ordered a blackberry margarita, and it was absolutely amazing! Definitely one of my favorite parts of the meal. For dessert, we ordered the Snickers ice cream. It seemed more like an ice cream sandwich with peanuts on top and chocolate on the side. It wasn't my favorite dessert, but it was still a nice sweet treat if you're someone who likes to finish dinner with dessert. Our bill was around $180 for two meals, dessert and two drinks. Overall, I really enjoyed the ambiance, the service was quick, and most of the food was good. There were a few things that could have been better, particularly the seasoning on the steak and crab fries and the dessert, but I would still consider coming back.

The Brussels sprouts were flash-fried perfectly, and I loved the sweetness of the chili honey glaze. The oysters had a nice crispy coating, but I found them to be a little bland.
