I absolutely loved this place! It's perfect for locals and tourists. It's right on the beach and has a fenced in area for kids to play in the sand with plenty of toys. We got a seat on the back deck right away and were surrounded by casual diners with their kids and dogs. Beer prices seemed fair, we ordered a few rounds. The service was average to slow, but there are plenty of signs around the place that set that expectation. We ordered the quac and chips for an appetizer and were pleased with the serving size. The chips were well salted and the quac was okay. I ordered the fish tacos, seasoned, with a side of fries. It was great! I opted to put shrimp in the tacos and was happy with my choice. Another person in our group ordered the burger with the black beans and rice and finished the entire plate quickly. Overall, the ambiance is casual, beachy, and a great spot to stop on your way home from the beach. Will definitely be back! read more

Every year we visit St. Augustine and come to this restaurant. For the past 34 years it has been one of our favorites, EXCEPT for this year. Last night (July 22nd) we arrived at approximately 6 pm, gave our name and phone number and waited. We were told it would be about 50 minutes. No problem, we were not in a rush. After an hour and a half, checking back twice, and asking the "supervisor" as she passed if we were still on the list, (which she said we were without even looking), we were told they at the desk that they had been "texting all night"... We received not one text. The girl said (with attitude) that she had also been shouting out our name. We were standing right near the door and did NOT hear our name, although we heard everyone else's. She looked at the iPad and showed us there was no phone number associated with our name. We gave my cell number as we specifically said that my husband left his at home. BTW, how could she be "texting all night" when they hadn't recorded our phone number? Then she basically called me a liar when she said we never left our phone number. I asked if she was calling me a liar. We received no apology. The place is now run by inexperienced young girls who spent a lot of time socializing and not doing their job (we had plenty of time to observe). Needless to say we didn't stay and won't return, not at least for a while. Hopefully they will hire competent workers in the future as it is one of our favorite places to eat. Till then, we won't be back nor will we recommend it. read more

Great location right off the beach and they have parking. Our food was very yummy, the crab cakes and coconut shrimp especially. Definitely order desert! The key lime pie and rum cake are delicious. The waitstaff were helpful and wearing masks. Worth a visit! read more

We had great service at this little beach place to duck out of the rain. We started with an appetizer of the guac and it was served with hot chips. This place implies there's a good waterfront view. The fact is there are two tables outside in the blistering heat that have a view down the street to see 25 feet of ocean. Other than that you get to stare at weeds while sitting inside In 91 degree heat. Visited this establishment on May 4 Th. I had the pork belly taco's which was the special that day for lunch . I will say those were the best taco's That I had every!! The owner .. which can not remember his name told me that a cook had brought this idea too him Don't remember the sauce that was on top . Very very good . My wife got the shrimp dinner , came with fries and a vegetable . She also said that her food tasted very good !! Very very happy with the service .. a gal named Kelli waited on us .. and she was SO AMAZING !!! She told us about all of the specials for the day . This atmosphere here is beautiful. Being able to see the ocean while you eat is an experience, especially if you're on vacation. The food is pretty good as is the service. The only reason I didn't give this place a full 5 stars is because it's lacking a serious "wow" factor. I enjoy this place, but it is not my top restaurant in st Augustine. We had a fantastic experience at the Beachcomber! After a day out on St. Augustine Beach, we stopped by for an early dinner. We started with their frozen margarita and frozen daiquiri - both of which were strong and delicious! We ordered their fish sandwich, fried with tarter sauce served with fries and the fish taco, blackened served with red beans and rice. The fresh catch was Trigger Fish which was used for both dishes. Starting with the first sandwich, it came with three fried fillets that weren't greasy at all. The fries were very tasty (almost battered) and they were not shy on the portion size. The blackened trigger fish tacos were delicious - great flavor - and the red beans and rice were pretty good too. Some of the best beach bar food I've had. read more

We had two orders of fish and chips the fries were so over cooked had to ask for new ones and the fried flounder had more batter than fish! I had the fish sandwich just as bad as the fish and chips! They asked us how everything was and we told them, someone come and told us it was not the norm to have such greasy food and gave us 10% off our bill! We have dined there many times since we moved here in 2000. It has changed ownership and the menu expanded. When we dine in the food is very good. The last two times we have ordered takeout. The first takeout order was burned well beyond salvage. Last night we tried again. Wrong. My wife ordered the fresh catch (trigger fish) lettuce, tomato, dill sauce, and onion with potato salad. I ordered the same with fries. I ordered the same with fries. When I got home, the fish was scrappy pieces. There was no lettuce tomato or onion. The dill sauce was tarter sauce and the tiny wedge of lemon still had the UPC sticker on it. Shame on them. Let the buyer beware. I won't go back. My bad for not checking I guess. We have enjoyed their world famous fish sandwiches for years but on our last visit the catch of the day was "unicorn fish" ??? I looked it up, a Pacific Ocean reef fish. I'm willing to try new things and I've never had a bad meal meal there, so I gave it a try. Wow, yuck! Fried tofu would have had more flavor. The texture of the fish was mushy and so bland that no amount of salt could help. I left most of it. A real waste at $13.00. To make matters worse, the house wine (on happy hour special) was undrinkable. I left most of that also. On a happier note, the fries were crispy, hot and quite tasty and the service was good. After so many years of good food, I'm willing to give the Beachcomber another try, but no more unicorn fish for me. read more

This small gem in the dunes is well worth the visit ! The food has been spot on in all of my half dozen visits during my stay in st augustine beach ! The fish Ruben in to die for and everything else is by far the best place I have eaten in the area and sadly it's not even close . The place is charming like an old beach front shack so you get that old time Florida laid back feel. There are places with more posh appointments but there touristy approach to food is quite evident . They don't really care about repeat business it's all about shear numbers . This place hasnt forgotten what customer service is all about . Trust me I worked in customer svc for over 25 years . There hasn't been a time that I wasn't asked how my meal and experience was . A true tribute to the commitment to providing a quality memorable experience . Loved it. Server was a hoot, but also very attentive. This place is great. Bloody Mary's a bit expensive, but such is life.

So to start from the top the table we got was extremely nice they told us it would be about a 30 min wait and it was definitely less then that. Once we got seated our server was very nice and respectful and was quick to take our order. That's when the entire thing went down hill. We had a simple order of calamari and conch fritters for appetizers. Unfortunately they took about 40 mins to come out and when they finally did the calamari was stone cold. I quickly sent it back and both the manager and server quickly apologized. Unfortunately that's not where it ends the calamari quickly came back and was hot but I was quickly able to tell that it was simply the same order double fried. I know this because the breading fell off of them easily and they where a dark brown color not the almost clear color they are supposed to be. So sadly this isn't where it ends as when my burger came out it seemed as if the burger was extremely charred on one side and barely cooked on the other. I could tell this by the black grill lines on the one side and that lack of them on the other. At this point I returned it to the manager and told him I just wanted it off my bill.
