Okay Google...find me some gluten free pancakes. Enter Bayside Cafe in Sausalito. Of course there was a crowd out the door but the line moved very quickly. Dining solo (yup, sometimes I'm my own best company), I was asked if I wanted a seat at the bar or if I wanted to wait for a table. I decided to wait and told Alise that it was mu BIRTHDAY so NO COUNTER for me! She agreed and in about 3 minutes I was seated comfortably in a corner by a window overlooking the bike shop and folks in biker shorts (bonus). The cappuccino came first and yup...I'll be awake for three days. The pancakes (Alise delivered with a lit candle and the BEST SMILE EVER) and bacon were crispy, had to send back the eggs but no problems with that, the servers here are awesome. Take a look around and see who is going where, what looks busy, and go with your gut. We came into this little diner like establishment and were not disappointed. Stopped here for lunch on the way up to Bodega Bay. It was surrounded by cute homes on the water, but itself was a little hard to find. It reminded me a bit of a diner. Food portions were very large. I had the Eggplant Encounter with a side of salad. The sandwich was great, a little messy, but delicious flavors and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. I was very appreciative that the side salad was not just pile of lettuce with a couple tomatoes but instead included several toppings. That was a nice surprise. This is a fantastic restaurant. When I was biking through Sausalito, I got so tired that my quads locked up and could not stop cramping. I needed a place to rest and get a bite to eat. Luckily I was next to Bayside Café, and the owner let me put my bike in her back room so that I could eat in the restaurant. I was also by this time famished since I did not eat any breakfast. What then followed was a glorious glass of water and eggs Benedict, which I inhaled quite quickly. The food was delicious, the ambience was nice, but overall the owner was so kind to let me put my bike in the break room so that I could eat. Highly recommend, five stars read more

Bayside Cafe seems as though it has been around for a while. The first time I came to Bayside Cafe was for LUNCH with my friends, and I had a terrible experience (in conclusion just don't come here for lunch- more of a breakfast place). A few months later, I woke up early (rare) and decided to go out for breakfast with my family. I remembered that when I went for lunch, the breakfast menu is what really stood out. We walked in for breakfast, and the whole restaurants ambiance and feel was totally different from when I went there for lunch. It was busy and lively. When I went for lunch, it was empty and dead. Anyway, I ordered a hot chocolate with sunny side up eggs, ham, whole wheat toast, and hash browns. The food came at a prompt pace and the service was efficient. The hot chocolate was amazing. Not too sweet, not to unsweet. Perfect. The eggs tasted fresh and were cooked perfectly. The ham was a bit salty for my liking, but the toast was great. Hash browns were okay. In conclusion, don't come here for lunch because the menu really sucks. Come err for breakfast and it's a whole different story. read more

I recently ate here. The food is simple and good. The place is clean, which is VERY important to me. The service was fast and friendly. I had the shrimp and avocado salad. My only issue was there was no description of this salad on the menu, like the other salads listed. The shrimp was small, cold steamed shrimp, which I don't love. I assumed it would be grilled. This would have been clearer if the menu had a description. I asked the server about it and even his description was vague. Overall though, I liked the salad. The greens were crisp and fresh. I just pushed most of the shrimp aside and ate the rest of the salad. My nephews got the burger and turkey sandwich, which they liked a lot. So, overall, it was a pleasant experience and good. Yknow, I moved to the neighborhood more than a year ago and I drive by this place ALL the time. I used to work across the way from Bayside, and I'd stop in there three-to-five times a week. That should tell you something. The place is consistently busy during breakfast hours and weekends, but the wait staff is always friendly and prompt, no matter how overwhelmed they may look to be. The food is not only good, it's one of the best little nooks I've ever eaten in. I'm a big fan of their Chili Burger with cheese and onions, or their Beef Tacos. Their omelets are also fantastic, and, if you're like me, you can order them up special (I always requested my hash browns inside the omelet, and I never once was refused). The biggest benefit of going to Bayside is becoming a "regular." They really do try to get to know their clientele, and are wonderfully friendly. They'll chat you up if you let 'em, or they'll leave you to read your paper or book if that's your thing. It got so that I'd walk in, and my iced tea was brought to my booth before I could even request it. I give Bayside Cafe my highest rating. Stop in, if you get the chance. read more
