Looking for something new, we tried Bavette Grill for lunch based on a friend's recommendation. Expectations were far exceeded and on our first visit, they absolutely knocked it out of the park. Friendly greeting at the door by David, one of the owners. The ambiance is terrific; indoor dining is such a pleasant experience and the outdoor section looked really inviting. The chef, Mauricio, engaged customers, described some entrées and actually took our order; a gracious professional who is proud of his creations. Eric, our waiter, could not have been more friendly, thorough and efficient. The food was amazing. We shared the smoked short rib croquettes. They were scrumptious. We both ordered the French Dip sandwich which is made to order; my wife likes hers well done while I prefer mine rare; both were served exactly the way we wanted. And this is not some deli beef or inexpensive cut; the meat is top quality, delicious and cooked to perfection. The au jus is rich and flavorful and not the watery cup of liquid you unfortunately often get with this entre at other restaurants. Both of us could only eat half the sandwich. Even their version of a Moscow Mule, one of my favorite cocktails, was unique and tasty. We were way too full for dessert, which all sounded really yummy. This is now one of our favorite places and we are already looking forward to our next visit. Do not hesitate to try this restaurant, it's amazing. This place is AMAZING. First of all, the atmosphere is awesome. Super fun and cozy decor, and we learned that all the books in the restaurant have been personally read by the owner, and the photos on the wall were taken by the owner. Our waiter Eric made us feel like honored guests, going over every aspect of the menu and having incredible recommendations. This place has an impeccable wine list with an extremely reasonable markup, barely over retail. The food was amazing, we started with the Short Rib Croquettes as an appetizer which was so flavorful and delicious. Everything we had from the cocktails to entrees was amazing. I'll finish by saying, it's hard to find a restaurant where the waiters are passionate about what the menu has to offer, but when you find it, it makes a huge difference. Upon entry my wife and i were immediately seated. Elizabeth was our waitress. Super professional, fast as well as knowledgeable about EVERYTHING on the menu. We went for our anniversary and I was so impressed with every aspect of my dining experience. The service was impeccable from the hostess to the waitress and even the managers. When we sat down they had a booth reserved for us with an anniversary card signed by all of the staff. They made you feel welcomed and taken care of from start to finish. The atmosphere was casual yet very classy. It has an open kitchen and I was amazed at how calm and smooth it ran. Nobody was shouting or panicking. On the patio (which is enclosed and heated during the winter) they have a fireplace and cozy seating. On the patio they also grow their own herbs that they use in some of the dishes. The food it top notch! There have not been many times that I eat something and it just takes me to another place. I cannot rave enough about how great everything was from the moment we walk in to the time we left. I will definitely be back soon. read more

I happened on this amazing place by happenstance. For some odd reason, they did not appear on my Yelp search for 4+ rated restaurants. The food was exceptional. My steak was aged to perfection and perfectly cooked. The Brussels sprouts were unique and to die for. The bar drinks were well sized and strong. Went for dinner Friday night. Surprisingly empty. Nice atmosphere. Comfortable seating. Phenomenal customer service. Meagan was our server and she was so kind and knowledgeable about the dishes. Ask for her! Mauricio the chef came by a few times to talk about our food. He was so attentive and caring about how we enjoyed everything. He even explained how some of the dishes were made. I won't be trying to cook them. I will just come back to dine here. 2 others checked on us as well. Just all around great service leaving a great impression. Deviled eggs had candied bacon on them. I now can't eat them anywhere else. This is the only place to get them. We had the burgers. Literally we have been to tons of places for burgers. These were the juiciest well seasoned burgers we have ever had. The fries are good. The Brussel sprouts is something I will try to make at home but will fail cause they are excellent here. Loaded with bacon and a balsamic type reduction. Goodness they were good. And the passion fruit cheesecake. Almost like a mouse texture. Not heavy like other cheesecake. Now I know it's a new restaurant and the reason I gave it 4 stars was mainly the service was outstanding. I felt the menu was limited, the food was good but nothing remarkable. The interior is very warm and comfortable. I would suggest "dressing" up the menu and some of the items slightly. If you are sending french fries out with a steak, they should be better than In & Out fries with a dipping sauce other than ketchup. This review isn't based on the service. Our server was very polite and did a wonderful job. My friends and I came Saturday night. I ate the bavette steak, salmon cakes and bread pudding. Sunday morning I had horrible stomach ache and diarrhea, I had to go home early from work. I was sick on Monday as well. I contacted the restaurant, and they didn't get back to me till this morning. The manager Alex was very condencending on the phone claiming that he and his bar manager and kitchen manager "ate the same items that I ate" and they felt fine. He was trying to insinuate that I didn't have any reaction to the food. He even had the audacity to downplay my experience by claiming that another party had the same food that I had on Saturday and that everyone felt fine. I am telling you that your food made me sick, and you're making excuses claiming it could be "seasoning"... Seasoning doesn't make me sick, obviously something in the food gave me the reaction, especially for me to be ill for 2 days. The conversation with Alex was pointless because he wasn't trying to take responsibility. I love to eat out at different restaurants in the city, it is rare for me to have food poisoning but when I do, it is my duty to address it to the restaurant and I expect a proper resolution not baseless excuses.
