We had a great experience at Le Beef! We came by as a group of 4 around 6pm on a Monday - no wait. Parking is limited on the street, but plentiful in the parking garage. The setting is gorgeous, great taste in decor, music was fine, and the service was quick, professional & lovely. The menu is fixed and you can choose between chicken or the steak. The steak was served with a green sauce that added a nice element, but we found ourselves adding salt to really bring out the flavors and get the juices flowing. The fries were crispy and well seasoned and that same seasoning would be incredible on the steak itself. Also, more options for people who don't eat steak- maybe a salmon filet. I know it's called Le Beef, but maybe for those who would prefer something else for the night. Some additions could also be aioli for the French fries or truffle fries. We walked in on a whim and because the Thai place across the street was unexpectedly not open, but Boy, did we have a wonderful time! Ambience was just like a French Bistro in Paris Inside and outside. Service was with all smiles ( unlike the French) and owner came over to explain their cuisine and rationale for the pre fixe menu! We started with the salad which was just okay. The lettuce was wilted and on the smaller side. They sent us some complimentary canapes which were like meat tarts. A little salty but good. The steak frites portion came out afterwards and was on the smaller side but I guess that's to be expected for lunch lunch. It was overall pretty good. Steak wasn't the best cut but still tasted good with the sauce. Fries were a little overcooked and on the crunchy side. Dessert was a chocolate mousse which was in a small ramekin. FYI, tasted like there was alcohol in there but pretty good with the salt on top. Overall had a pretty good experience. We stopped into Le Beef at Legacy in Plano for lunch today, and what a pleasant surprise. They've only been open about 45 days, but everything already feels dialed in. The vibe is very French -- classy, cozy, and beautifully decorated -- and the location couldn't be better. Our server, Blaze, was awesome. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and walked us through their prix fixe lunch menu, which was a great deal at $29 per person. It starts with a light salad, a beef canapé, and a basket of warm bread with salted butter that was absolutely fantastic. For the main course, it's all about their steak frites, which come cooked rare, medium, or well-done (no in-betweens like medium-rare or medium-well). We both went with medium, and it came out perfectly cooked. The steak is served with their house Le Beef sauce, which Blaze described as "earthy" with 17 (or maybe 19!) ingredients -- whatever's in it, it's rich, complex, and pairs perfectly with the steak. The portion sizes were generous, and by the end, we were both too full to even think about dessert (though we definitely wanted to). They do offer chicken or sausage as alternatives if steak isn't your thing, but for a first visit, we had to go classic. Overall, it was a great first experience -- really good food, friendly service, and a nice French touch that feels right at home in Legacy. For my wife and I to have a date night here with dessert and a drink, it was about $90 dollars. The steak was excelente! I liked the thin cut fries and the steak sauce. All the sides were good too, but nothing exceptional. The dessert tasted amazing, the salt on top was a really nice touch. But... as you can see, the presentation looked like something you shouldn't eat. We had one main server and a few other servers who would bring out the courses. Overall the service was good, but I felt a little neglected throughout the night and had to get up to ask for things like water and ketchup. With attentive service, a nice atmosphere, and very good food, all for $30, how can this not be five star? It's a unique concept. Only three main course options; steak, chicken, or sausage. To compare it to any of the fine dining steakhouses would be apples to oranges. Both of us had the steak option and we enjoyed it (flavorful and tender). I thought the pesto sauce was OK but the steak by itself was just fine and I prefer it plain. Somewhere around 8 to 10 ounces it seems like, and a ton of some of the best french fries I have had. Ketchup is optional, but they make their own and it's delicious. They offer three temperature options; rare, medium, or well done. Our server said that medium was closer to medium rare, and he was exactly right. It was a perfect medium rare. Our server was a really nice guy and overall very good, but he was rushing us the whole night. We subtly pushed him off a few times, but he never took the hint and kept pushing the entire night (e.g., asked my wife if she would like to start the first course before I even sat down and then later asked us if we would like to see the dessert menu before we even finished our entrées). He just needs a little training. There were empty tables as it was the middle of the week, but I felt like he was trying to turn us over quickly. Put it this way, our reservation was at 6:30 PM, I parked the car and sat down at 6:40 PM, and we were on the tollway headed home at 7:25 PM. And that's having two glasses of wine, the three course fixed price meal, and dessert in that amount of time. Speaking of dessert, we had the crème brûlée (a huge portion for only $9.95). What a wonderful, unexpected surprise. I was excited about a place that offered (basically) one thing--steak frites--but also hesitant. If you're going to only really offer one thing, you better do it damn well. In a dining world of decision overload, it was a wonderful change of pace to have this level of simplicity. We had the starter salad, bread, vegetables, steak frites, and the strawberry cheesecake, and it was all absolutely fantastic. Yes, the steak could've used more salt, but it was cooked perfectly and the accompanying sauces were all delicious in their own ways (though charging $4 for extra sauce was ridiculous). All of them were delicious but it was a pretty small portion, so some of us were still hungry lol.. Just be aware, parties of 5+ will have to sit outside, as they only have 4 person seatings inside. Its Boudreaux-red exterior makes it easy to locate. Inside has a French countryside vibe which offsets from the bustling people outside. You're immediately welcomed by attentive staff. The purse stands around our table were an atypical sight that most restaurants of this caliber could take note of. Amidst an ocean of restaurants waiting for you to peruse menus chock full of decisions yet to make, Le Beef's fixed menu is a fresh breath. After you choose your protein for your fixed menu dinner, the only other remaining choices are drink and dessert. USDA prime is what most at our table chose for their dinner protein. I ordered a bottle of Du Caillau Malbec to compliment we'll both our meals, hard to beat string fries, and artisan salads of butter lettuce, strawberries, pistachio, dried cranberries, champagne vinaigrette AND beef canapés. Came here to grab dinner with my parents! I was very excited as I have never been to a Restaurant dedicated to Steak and Frites! Walking in the way the Restaurant set ups is very neat with somewhat of an open Kitchen Concept and Full Sit Down bar. The staff were incredibly friendly from the moment of stepping in and took great care of us. The theme for this review is quality, attention to detail and how well everything complements each other. There was definitely a lot of thought when this prix fixe menu was put together, and restaurant was opened on how all aspects of the meal from the salad, sauces and protein would work together over the course of the meal! I'm not a salad person, and always get nervous when a salad has heavy vinaigrette, but this salad was all so well balanced, with the champagne vinaigrette having a good flavor and not being overpowering. The pistachios and strawberry perfectly complemented the flavor profile of the vinaigrette. Next you get a beef canapé in a puff pastry that was absolutely delicious, and was a good pre curser of what to expect in terms of flavor for the main attraction of the steak frites. I could have had snacked on those canabes all night. They also served a house bread that was delicious with a very light butter. Pro tip: save the bread for the end to suck up the juices from the steak mixed with their sauce. The main attraction of Steak Frites did not disappoint and I went in with high expectations being this is their menu only concept. There should be a photo of this steak for perfectly cooked, as this steak was precisely medium as I asked for with a perfect pink color. You get asked if you want the le beef sauce, which I highly recommend you do as it perfectly complements the steak. The sauce is has a very well balanced herbal flavor, that is savory. It does not take away from the steak, which was also perfectly seasoned and also pairs well with the fries. They also offer a spicy sauce, which from my understanding is the Le beef sauce with some added spices including paprika and maybe some more pepper. I might have enjoyed that sauce even more, so I recommend pairing your steak with that sauce too. The fries were delicious, with a great crisp, good seasoning and held in the flavor from the sauce well! My only concern was the size of the beef, as I like to eat a large steak, but although it is a smaller steak relative to me, would estimate around 6 to 8 ounces it had a very delicate profile, and was filling especially with the complimentary sauces. I left the Restaurant in perfect balance of full and not stuffed, as the prix fixe menu gives you just the right amount and portion of food. I did not have room for dessert, but will definitely try some the next time I come. If you're looking for an unbelievably priced pre-fixe menu that centers around a classic steak frites, Le Beef is a fantastic choice. The steak itself was cooked beautifully: juicy, tender, and paired perfectly with an herb sauce (kind of a hint of earthy turmeric, maybe?, instead of the pesto sauce I expected) with perfectly crispy, golden fries. Worth mentioning they restricted to just three temperatures (rare, medium, well-done) which felt limiting for a restaurant that leads with beef. Highlights included the warm bread service with (melt in your mouth) whipped salted butter, fresh salad and canapés, and beautifully plated desserts, all served with attentive, prompt service. The only real miss was the underwhelming wine list, which lacked a solid selection of robust reds like a quality Cabernet, but my husband says I'm a snob so resisting docking a star for that! Just got back from a delicious lunch at Le Beef. The decor is Parisienne modern and classy. The menu is basic but the food is anything but. You get a salad, steak, and fries. The salad was a mix of greens, pistachios, strawberries, cranberries, and a vinaigrette. Light but very tasty. The steak is cooked to your liking and topped with their signature green sauce. The fries are thin and delicious. The show stopper though was actually the dessert. We got the strawberry cheesecake (which was light but decadent) and the mousse (which was so simple but so rich and delicious). I'll definitely be back when I have a craving for good steak. read more
