Baro is best known in the neighborhood for their dry pot served in the evenings, and I have to imagine it gets lively here based on the number of soju bottles I saw lining the wall. But their Tibetan-Nepalese breakfast set was what compelled me to make the trek out here on a rainy morning. There are a few options to customize your breakfast set - I thought the ningbo, similar to Chinese mantou, was the best, although my puri was oily and delicious. The dry kala channa and aloo dum were also amazing - simple yet satisfying. They provide a tomato chutney that is labeled as achaar on the menu but really doesn't have that much of a pickled flavor. It pairs well with the egg, prepared to your taste, in a little makeshift sandwich.

I went here with 4 other friends and it was not too busy for a Thursday dinner. We sat ourselves anywhere we wanted and the waitress promptly gave us a menu and some water. Prices here are very affordable - a lot of dishes are close to the $10 range and a lot of appetizers are priced well under $10, even around the $5 mark! We got the Bhatmas Sadeko (Nepali soybean salad), beef momos, chicken lollipop, chicken thenthuk, and goat thali. The Bhatmas Sadeko has fairly crispy soybean (roasted), and it is very flavorful and has a nice spicy kick. This was well worth the $5 price tag. The beef momos were fairly standard but delicious nonetheless. There are dipping sauces - one is not spicy and the other is spicy, both of which are packed with herbs. The chicken lollipop is very good as well - it's nice they have a foil for you to grab the food without making your hands too dirty. It is one of the pricier dishes at $9 for 4 pieces but it's still worth a try (you can see how affordable the food is if I say that's a pricier dish!) The chicken thenthuk was lighter on the broth, with noodle texture kind of like thick hand pulled noodles. It reduces the heat from some of the other dishes. The beef sukuti thali is quite unique - a beef jerky, served with rice, lentils, potato and green beansX and a bunch of other fixings. They were very nice to give us complimentary extra refills of the rice (a whole pot of rice!) and green beans and potato - what a nice touch going above and beyond! We got way more value out of the food than we paid for! Even the service is outstanding. Despite automatic gratuity, we only ended up paying about $15 per person - such a great deal in this economy!!

I was surprised to walk into the former Korean Haewoodae location to a new hot pot place with Tibetan dishes. I found thr meal was pretty awesome. We walked in the middle of a Wednesday evening for dinner date. I ordered beef momos which took a while so if you are in a rush probably not the thing to get. But...i must say that the Momos are tasty though. Juicy and tender and delicious. I had a vegetable thali which was presented so beautifully as it matched in flavor, and hubby had the wai wai sendekho (spelling? It was ramen with spices and cilantro). He also had the sweet tea which was black tea with milk and cardamon aroma. My thali had mustard greens, yogurt, dal, rice, pickled veggies (turnips), sauces, and was yummy. I have yet to try the hot pot or veggie option dry pot. Yes vegetarian friendly! It just looks so good! Gotta try it next time! That time was too full to think of more food. The service is amazing! We had one waitress who was attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was quiet and low key. It seemed great for families and dates. There are plenty tables and space for a party. I know this because last time I walked in to try baro 1976, they were closed for a big venue. I noticed a bar with beer and wine available. Intriguing! I would recommend this place! It's brand new and opened recently!

This new restaurant popped up out of no where but we're so glad it did. It was our first time having Tibetan food and it was a nice break from the traditional cuisines we had. It was empty at 9pm on a Thursday but by the time we left around 10, a few others had strolled on in to enjoy their meal. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with recommendations after we told her it was our first time. The dishes are interesting, their dry pot was good. The beef tongue was probably the best dish of the three we ordered. Cooked perfectly with pepper and onion. Definitely go visit if youre in the area!

My husband and I have been looking forward to visiting this place since we saw that it was taking over the Korean spot that was on this corner previously, and we finally made it here a few nights ago. It's a casual, unassuming spot that wasn't busy, but I can see this place taking off once word of mouth starts to spread. The food is tasty: we had beef momos and a dry pot. For the dry pot, you choose your ingredients from a refrigerated section and they charge by weight. The ingredients were fresh and delicious and the prices are very reasonable. The beef momos were okay (the meat filling was a bit chewy at times), but the dry pot was the star. We plan to come back soon to try their BBQ and skewers. The service was fantastic. Everyone here is so sweet and friendly. I hope business continues to pick up for them and they're very successful!

A wonderful addition to the neighborhood. My wife and I came here for dinner. We shared the delicious dry pot and beef momo's. The dry pot you can pic your ingredients at the front of the restaurant. You can add various vegetables, fish and meats, then you pic your spicy level. The food was delicious and spicy. Definitely worth a try! Go check it out!

This place is such a gem! Price is not bad, and the food is amazing! I don't know what authentic Tibetan food should taste like, but this place is a family-owned business so I would inclined to believe that they serve authentic food. I came here for lunch today at around 1PM. The place was empty but as I began devouring my lunch, more people showed up for a late lunch, and guessing from the language they speak, they are all Tibetans/Himalayans. The menu is not necessarily friendly to non-Tibetans but my server was kind enough to explain menu items. I did also google some of the names of the food to figure out my order. I settled with an appetizer, a dropa khatsa. It's stir fried beef tripe. It's got a hint of curry but not overpowering and it doesn't remind you of Indian food. I The main dish I ordered was the mala dry pot with rice noodle fan (similar to Korean japchae noodles) with beef stomach (beef tripe but the bible tripe kind), fish balls, and mushrooms. The dry pot was spicy but not overly spicy. I caught a hint of Chinese Five Spice in it. Will definitely come back to try more food!

New local Tibetan / Sherpa Nepali restaurant! I absolutely loved the different dish options that are offered here. My favorite was the dry pot, everything seemed so fresh! Make sure to let them know your preferred spice level. The Nepali diro with pork was delicious, the side of pork was made with so much flavor, definitely worth a try! The servers are very attentive and made sure everything was okay. Great space for gatherings! Definitely coming back!

The kitchen here doesn't shy away from traditional flavors--the food is unapologetically spicy and savory, avoiding the "overly sweet" profile that many Thai spots fall into. Here's the breakdown of what we tried: Tom Yum Goong: This was the star of the show. It had a sharp, clean heat and a perfect citrus punch without that syrupy finish you often find elsewhere. Crispy Pork Belly: Exactly what you want it to be. The skin was incredibly crunchy, and the meat remained tender, seasoned perfectly to highlight the savory pork flavor. Fried Fish: Deep-fried to perfection with a light, crispy exterior. The sauce paired chili and fish sauce with fresh mango. Crab Fried Rice: Generous with the crab meat and wonderfully "wok-hei" (charred) and salty. It wasn't bogged down by sweet soy sauce, allowing the delicate crab to shine. The only real sweetness of the night came from the Mango Sticky Rice, which was the perfect, cooling end to a very spicy meal. The mango was ripe and the coconut milk was rich, providing the only sugary reprieve of the evening. Service was so nice. The hostess and sever were so nice and friendly. The severer felt like a Thai uncle, he made jokes, gave us napkins, joked with my child. It felt so familial. If you want authentic, spicy Thai food that prioritizes salt, spice, and acid over sweetness, this is your spot.

Kam Rai Thai has a very cozy and warm atmosphere with fake flowers decor everywhere. Street parking can be hard at times and involve circling around a few times. Food menu can be accessed by QR code and paper menu for drinks. The first time I visited Kam Rai Thai, I shared the papaya salad with my friend and had the Pad woon sen with shrimp. The papaya salad with green papaya, string bean, tomato and roasted peanut with spicy lime juice was refreshing and light. The Pad woon sen has sauteed glass noodle, egg, onion, scallion, cabbage, celery, carrot, tomato and sesame oil. The second time I visited, I had the Pad see ew with beef. The Pad see ew has sauteed wide noodles with Chinese broccoli, black soy sauce, and egg. Both dishes were very flavorful, delicious, delectable, and appetizing. The dishes were very filling and there was a good proportion of noodles and protein. I've had the Rainfall in Loei and Fang Martini Time, both are really good drinks and not overly strong. We shared the mango sticky rice for dessert and it was good. The mango was very fresh and the sticky rice with coconut milk was sweet, but not overly. My friends ordered the Kopi De Trang, Spicy Maesai Plum, Rainfall in Loei, Thai ice tea lychee, pad see ew with chicken, pad kee mao beef (non spicy), and khao soi gai confit. I ordered a pad kee mao beef with a spice level of 2 to go. It is a great option to have a spicy and non spicy option for pad kee mao. Everyone enjoyed their food. Staff are very friendly and the food come out very quickly after ordering. There is a 5% discount if you pay with cash and a 2.95% surcharge for credit cards. Kam Rai Thai serves authentic Thai food and I can't wait to come back. It is a great place for friends to catch up.

You're spoiled for choice here but everything is pretty good so I'll call out the extraordinary items. The fish broths are amazing, sweet in the seafood way with a deep richness of flavor. The black fish slices (poorly translated from Chinese, sorry) were satisfying. Boneless and tender. It's a small cost to upgrade from regular fish (I believe it's grass carp) but it's worth it though unfortunately I can't help much in terms of naming the upgrade in English. Their popcorn chicken is well executed, with light crunchy batter and well-seasoned meat. Their fruit drinks are nice too, including the pomelo grape and the peach. Ask for less sugar if that's your thing. Portions are ridiculous but admittedly we over ordered on purpose. Also, it's a common move to ask for the free noodle refill before getting your leftovers to go though we did not partake in the excess here. The bowls are already never-ending buckets of goodies. We did take our leftover broth though. No shame. In fact I'd be more ashamed if we wasted the soup.
