Tried many Thai places an always scoping for the unique dishes. This place has the quaint and cutest homely setup you'll experience. The staff work hard to extend this setup and homely hospitality you can expect at any hole in the wall. Favorite points I'll bring out about this place. It introduces unique dishes from Thailand that is their comfort food that you won't find anywhere. Their appetizers sweet peanut dumplings was so naturally crunchy and sweet. And the skins on this was freshly done that you can feel how fresh and doughy it is from a delicate dumpling. Main course was hard to choose from as I've never had Thai version katsu, crispy fish in curry, and other crisp curry noodles dishes. I got the crispy khao duck in turmeric rice because of my mood and this did not disappoint. It was overwhelmingly flavorful with the right spicy, crispiness and zesty flavors. Only thing is this did leave a long impression for me to come back and try their other signature dishes because it kept my excitement to want to try everything. I got takeout this time, and the menu has more than doubled since the last time I ate here. I got the Singaporean Hainanese Chicken Rice which comes with a fragrant and light broth. I got this with poached chicken to absorb the broth. The chicken liver was good but they give you a lot of it - as someone who likes liver, this was still a lot of liver. They have choice of ginger rice vs sticky rice. I also got the pa lo moo sam chan, a pork belly dishes that was similarly flavorful but light, but a different flavor profile. I thought it'd be too salty but that was not the case. The pork was tender but my only complaint is that they give you really fatty pieces. It comes with mushrooms, tofu, and an egg that was unfortunately not runny at all. Comes with ginger rice. I also tried the coconut custard which was very good. The juiciest and most flavorful Khao mun gai located in Astoria. We tried the original and the roasted, the original will always be my favorite as I love the simplicity of the poached chicken, but the roasted offered a really nice umami bite and crunch from the skin. Honestly so good, crispy like a fried cutlet but still light, juicy, and savory. Highlight was def the ginger aromatic rice, SO flavorful. Dipping sauce was nice and gingery as well and only enhanced everything, while the broth was light and perfect to sip on with the meal. Love how strong the Thai iced tea and coffee was too. They have a smaller storefront with 4-5 tables inside, so that is good to note if you are coming with a large party. The owners/workers are extremely sweet and attentive as well. Thai spots in Queens have been popping up like crazy especially in past 5 years or so , but Chick It Out stands slightly apart because it focuses mainly on chicken in this cute hole in the wall. We were craving Hainanese style chicken and finding a place that makes it a central part of the menu made it seem like a pretty good bet. It paid off. After searching for some places that do Hainanese style chicken many were less accessible being in crowded areas with difficult parking I was happy with what I found here. We arrived knowing what we wanted which is good because you order and pay before you sit if you are eating in. If you are eating in be aware there are 4 tight little tables here so this place is perfect for a duo - seating and portion wise. This was indoor spot, but the temp was the same as the chilly weather outside the Saturday we dined here. We each received a soup and salad with our combo - I went to work on the fresh salad and saved the soup for when the chicken arrived. We got a couple of curry puffs which were flakey and tasty. I enjoyed the firm curry which was more paste than liquid. We went with a fried chicken and Hainanese chicken and both were really good. The dipping sauces that came with combo were really good along with large mound of rice. My Thai Iced coffee was the perfect accompaniment. The meal was well made, generous and reasonably priced. Took me awhile to find this place because it's not exactly on Broadway but on the corner so it's fairly easy to miss if you're not aware of the location. Other than that, this place is sublime. A tad on the small side but I dig the theme of the restaurant for it gives off an authentic Thai feel. The server was very courteous and kind which made ordering a pleasant experience. All of the dishes are very reminiscent of whenever I go to Hainan Jones for lunch because the menu is very similar to that. I ordered the Roasted chicken with rice, dumplings and Iced Tea. Their Iced Tea is an unusual but interesting beverage. It's your standard Iced Tea but mixed with milk, at first I was thrown off a bit like "Who mixes Iced Tea with milk?" But when I took a sip, it was surprisingly good, it was enjoyable. The main dish and the side were oh so tasty and filling, it definitely hit the spot. This was my first time trying this type of Thai chicken. It was amazing! Love this little hole in the wall spot that is women-owned and women-ran! The restaurant is cute and quaint but it is small. There is few seating and is more of like a grab and go place. I did sit to eat and the women were so welcoming and quick on their feet. I got the khao mok gai which had grilled chicken and turmeric rice. It was perfect in every way. The chicken was cooked perfectly - so soft and juicy. Eating it with the tumeric rice was a great combination! The broth on the side was lovely to have as well as the salad. I didn't really eat much of the salad because I wasn't in the mood for one. But drinking the broth after some bites of my chicken and rice was seriously the cherry on top. I got to also try to roasted chicken and fried chicken.... Both equally amazing!!! This is a gem of a place! The food was really good and affordable! We got 2 of the combo, khaomangai2way. I believe all of the chicken is dark meat, but they do it 3 ways: grilled, slow-poached and fried. All of the chicken and rice dishes came with it's own sauce, broth and a side salad. The broth was savory and mild, and the side salad was decent. The traditional khao man gai is the slow-poached and it was my favorite, especially with the sweet garlic sauce that came with it. However the fried chicken was super crispy and was my partner's favorite. The grilled chicken was grilled well and had a crispy skin too. I went here for dinner on a Friday night and it wasn't busy. It is a smaller fast casual restaurant with about only three 2 person tables. You order and pay at the register. The staff are really nice. I'd definitely come again for both a quick and filling lunch or dinner. Recently got to try chick it out and it was so delicious! This little spot has seating both indoors and outdoors. We were served very quickly and the workers were so nice! As for the food I tried the fried chicken while my friend had the original poached chicken. Both were delicious. I especially liked the fried chicken because it was so crispy on the outside but still very very juicy on the inside. The curry puff was also so delicious, very flavorful and worked well as an appetizer. We tried two drinks one mango and one lychee thai iced tea. Both were very refreshing. Lastly, they have mango sticky rice for dessert and it was the perfect way to end the meal. I had a friend who orders take out from here all the time, because it's the most bang for your buck, nutritious and filling! Finally got around to trying this place and I had such a difficult time choosing between their variations of khao mun gai. I opted for their original slow poached chicken, because you can never go wrong with a classic. They have a roasted and crispy option as well! For a few dollars more, you can choose two options. All of these come with a serving of chicken rice and a soup. They also have an egg noodle option instead of rice that comes with roasted chicken and some fish balls and tofu. The broth it comes warms the soul and is so comforting; honestly was pretty sad when I cleaned the broth out of the bowl. The slow poached chicken was delicious and clean. The house made sauce it came with paired really well with the chicken and rice. The crispy chicken is a solid choice too! They give a good amount of it and the breading is light and crunchy. There aren't many places to get Thai style Hainanese chicken in Astoria so it's nice to see this type of restaurant open on 35th Street and Broadway. The restaurant is small with about 4 or 5 tables. I love the aesthetics inside with the exposed brick wall and the hand painted mural; very cute. The menu is small with only 6 chicken dishes to choose from. In fact, there are more beverage options that food. After chatting a bit with the staff, I went with their recommendation and got "The Combo" Khao Man Gai 2 Way. You get to choose two kinds of chicken from poached, fried, or roasted. I ended getting "The Original" Khao Man Gai (slow poached chicken) and "The Roasted" (marinated chicken thighs). Both the poached and the roasted chicken were tender and delicious. The chicken was both lean and fatty, as in the meat was juicy but without the fatty pieces. I was given three types of dipping sauce: a chili tamarind and garlic ginger soybean and ginger scallion sauce. With Hainanese chicken, I think that the sauce makes the dish, and the ones here really highlighted the chicken well. The chili tamarind wasn't spicy at first, but it does have a slight kick after a while. The accompanying ginger rice tasted very lightly of ginger and was garnished with sliced cucumbers. They serve the meal with a light daikon soup and salad. Overall, the dish is a nice healthy option and a change of pace for the usual fried chicken dish. Also, they offer one dessert, Mango Sticky Rice, which is not listed on the menu. When I asked about this, I was told it's because it's a seasonal dish and they will not be offering this year-round. Yato LIVES FOR CHICKEN. So Yato, brought in by the name indeed decided to "Chick It Out." Yato's stomach decided to check out after eating here. It's almost as if there was a WW3 being fought by chickens inside of Yato's stomach and it raged for days following his encounter here. Was it the poached chicken? The fried chicken? Ultimately we'll never know what side prevailed, but in the end, Yato was the loser here and his date ruined by this places built on lies.
