    Banh mi and pho
    Mia H.

I was pleasantly surprised by this adorable Vietnamese spot in Hunter's point! The interior of the restaurant is cozy and inviting, and their staff is quick and polite. Their menu has a good variety of pho, banh mi, vermicelli bowls, and also clay pot dishes. I got the banh mi when I went and my friend got their pho. Their classic banh mi was delicious and a good portion. It came with plenty of meat and it was dripping with juices. The bread was also so warm and crispy on the outside. The pho was also good, and a solid portion but I wish it came with a variety of other meat toppings besides sliced brisket. Otherwise, it wasn't bad. Overall, a pretty solid Viet spot and I would come back!

Been here several times for the viet coffee alone. The pho and the spring rolls are solid choice for a cold blistering winter day or if you want some comfy soupy noodles. Price is great and service too. No complaints here!

Very casual spit for average Vietnamese food. We started with the shrimp summer rolls and pork fried spring rolls. The summer rolls were tiny and not super well put together (stuff fell apart as you bit into it) but otherwise fine. The pork fried spring rolls also felt a little small but tasted fine. As for the beef pho, that was also standard - tasted fine though I wish the beef were more tender (it felt a little overcooked to me but just a tad). We came in on a Sunday night around 5pm and it was mostly empty. Service was quick and friendly.

Always love their Banh Mi and everything is fresh - we sat outside when it was still nice out and they have a great happy hour (beer was ~$5 or so). Think the noodles could have a bit more flav but everything was nice!

Fantastic Vietnamese food. The pho, vermicelli, and clay pot dishes were all great. Food came out fast and there was no wait walking in Saturday around 8 PM.

Amazing and authentic food, ton of flavor and huge portion. Really nice staff and the happy hour deals are everyday. I would go just for cheap drinks alone! Ambiance is clean.

I usually go for the Summer Roll and the Beef Pho. The Summer rolls are delicious and surprisingly filling--I highly recommend choosing the ones with shrimp for extra flavor. The Beef Pho is classic & easily the best you'll find in the LIC area.

Yummy! It's been so cold so I was in need of some good Pho so my friend suggested this spot. We came for lunch, love a lunch menu, and ordered Chicken Pho. The broth was insanely tasty, would love a gallon of just the broth please. Roasted chicken was a plenty in this. Much more then I expected. A little lite on the bean sprouts & scallions, especially since asking for more would result you in a $2 charge. Very cute little spot, we came at 12:25 on a Monday and the place was basically full by the time we left.

A little off the beaten path, Cyclo is situated like a modest one story house that was turned into a restaurant. While there are better options for more flavorful food, the prices are reasonable and the service is good. A few friends and I came for lunch. Service was quick and they provided a complimentary salad with our meal. The salad was doused with an overly sweet vinaigrette that took my partner and I by surprise, but it wasn't a big enough salad for it to be off putting. The main dishes were better with my beef pho having a good portion of protein and my friends and partner enjoying their rice dishes. While my beef pho was good, the broth was pretty bland compared to other pho I had in the city. The ambiance is casual and rustic with wooden chairs, tables, and chopsticks. The staff were friendly and checked in on us from time to time. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. Overall, there was nothing to complain about aside from the food. If you're not from LIC, it's hard to justify making the trek for the food. But if you're visiting a friend and really need a bowl of pho or fried rice, Cyclo is not a terrible option.

Ok ok. If you're a vegetarian, their vegetarian pho is the best I've had by a mile. Not even close. Finally a flavorful broth, packed with tofu and herbs, perfectly spicy and fragrant. I went two days in a row.... You must go!

Good banh mis. I would recommend the traditional banh mi, which had a lot more flavor across the different types of meat. The tofu banh mi was a little dry and bland. Interior is cute and worth dining in! A couple blocks from the waterfront.

Food: Broth was okay. I eat a LOT of pho - from California so bit of a pho snob. It was good. Had flavor. Just didn't have the kick. It wasn't bad. Bowl also had so many noodles that soaked up my broth. Spring rolls were really good. Banh Mi was really good. Good bread. Service: Service was great. Attentive. Water refills. Ambiance: Nice chill atmosphere, good for a quick lunch. Good came out quick.

And then they also have some inventive fusion flavors, like chicken tikka masala ramen, which are also amazing. The Japanese curry is so good. I love getting it with pumpkin croquettes, but I've also gotten it with pork cutlet, chicken cutlet, with and without melted cheese on top, and honestly all combinations are great. The portions are perfect so I never leave feeling too full but I always leave feeling extremely satisfied. I've had the bao buns too, each type, and they're all so good. The beef gyudon is my favorite, but I've gotten it with teriyaki chicken too and that was also great. The waitstaff are pleasant, even when I bring my two screaming kids with me into their tiny restaurant, and they always have a smile ready. They don't even say anything when my 2 year old throws his entire cup of water on the floor. They just quietly come over and clean it up (while I apologize profusely), and they even bring a new cup of water over. Great place. I go at least twice a week. Couldn't love it more!

One bite is enough to send a novice spice eater to their grave. But that's why I love Xi'an Famous Foods so much. There is not a single item on the menu that you won't enjoy. I've tried a variety of dishes, all of which I've loved. Their pickled cucumbers are both refreshing and flavorful. Their thick flat noodles with your choice of meat are wonderfully saucy. Their dumplings, stuffed with either lamb, pork, or beef (you decide), were even more so drenched in sauce. Their "burgers" (not the American kind, mind you, so don't come here expecting something you can get from Shake Shack) had a satisfying flaky bread with wonderfully juicy cuts of meat. Sure, Xi'an Famous Foods is spicy, but it's not merely the type of spice that is all burn and no flavor. Xi'an's dishes are so full of umami that you'll crave days later. The hand-ripped noodles were chewy and very filling. It did have bits of cabbage, but I wish there were more veggies to round out the noodles. It could definitely be split between two people - again, it's a VERY filling dish since it's 85% noodles.

Some of it is more Americanized, so the place is actually perfect to go to in groups of people with varying comfort levels when it comes to Chinese cuisine. I personally love the sheng jian bao (生煎包)(crispy bottom steamed dumplings with a more fluffy skin than regular jiaozi/gyoza-style dumplings)! For me, it's expensive, but it comes with the location, and it isn't more expensive than other nearby restaurants. The place is clean, and cozy. For these reasons I would usually give 4 stars, but what really truly sets this place apart is the wait staff. They are so nice! I live in the building next door, so I come to Hui often with my two screaming kids (6yo and 2yo). The staff is so nice to them! One waitress speaks treats them like they're her own grand kids who desperately need to be fed and spoiled. She even feeds my 2yo with his fork and succeeds in getting him to eat broccoli (!!!), which I've never once been able to do myself. The fish was very crispy and also tender on the inside. Ambience: inside of the restaurant itself is pretty elegant and is a on the more aesthetically dark side. Otherwise, not a very noisy restaurant at all and great for tableside conversation. Service: Also great as well! Our waitress (I couldn't catch her name) was amazing and knew the menu well to give us recommendations for the night with a good combination of different types of flavors to try out for the dinner. They had a very well staffed waiter-to-table ratio on a Friday evening for dinner. Food: I really liked the food a lot! I say this as someone who grew up in a Vietnamese household, with some Cambodian dishes from my close relatives. Some of the items that we ordered included: - The Green Mango Salad: which I really, really liked more than I was expecting. - The Phenom Penh Roast Duck: which was really soft and tender (probably the softest duck I've ever had) and was not chewy. One of the few places that I think have gotten duck to my preference. - The Baked Amok: which is a national Cambodian dish and is full of seafood. Also recommend ordering this. - Eggplant with Beef: also a great highlight; while the dish name features the eggplant as the main focus, I think the dish ended up more beef focused more than the eggplant. The only other comment that might be worth mentioning is that it might not have some of the authentic notes of Cambodian food (coming from my Cambodian father)--possibly because some of the authenticity factors are a very acquired taste that many American palates may not find favorable. But as it stands, it's a true Cambodian in America experience that captures the soul more than any place I've ever been. Overall, really great place that I'll be recommending some of my other friends to try out.
