You cannot go wrong with Thai food at Pye Boat Noodle! Every dish has authentic Thai tastes, the service is always warm & welcoming, & the restaurant is simple & cozy, with a lovely outdoor space. Definitely one of my favorite Thai places in NY.

Service: 4.4/5 Food: 3.8/5 Price: $$ ($20-30) I feel like all Thai restaurants (in NYC) hit it out of the park with their interior design + decorations. Super busy tonight-- I don't remember it being this packed last time I was here. That said, it's mostly smaller parties with lots of turnover + I got seated almost immediately. Borderline tight seating. Small portions for an average price. I think both times I've dined I've left satisfied, but not full. *What I Recommend What I Ordered: - Moo Ping*: super tender + flavorful, sauce added nothing - Pork Boat Noodles (egg noodles): only way I'll eat pork blood, 5 pieces of meat- some tender, some overcooked, not enough morning glory + too much bean sprouts, decent flavor - Chicken Pad See Ew: good noodles, not too greasy, very tender chicken, I want to compare it to the Canto chow fun, which it does not live up to - Ginger Lemon Tea: great hand warmer, has the ginger flavor without the spice, which I like, only got the lemon flavor at the end

Pye Boat Noodle is a hidden gem in our neighborhood! Whenever we visit we always leave satisfied. The staff is incredibly kind and the prices are very reasonable at around $15-20 for noodle dishes. Restaurant setting is very well decorated with a cute backyard for when the weather is good. We ordered the Chicken Noodles Soup and the Tom Yum Bolarn Noodle. Both were delicious and hit the spot, my only gripe is that the broths tend to be a little salty for my tastes - but this is really a personal preference. Would recommend for folks visiting or living in the area to give it a try!

I had the crab fried rice here and was good although I do wish I had more crab. Surprised how good it was given it's not a specialty.

A good noodle soup spot in Astoria! I really liked their large table in the back for our larger group. The service could have been more attentive (being in the back made it hard to flag them down when we were ready for the bill; I had to walk up to one of them who was by the kitchen window) but otherwise a pretty good experience.

I got to try the larb moo, Sukothai noodles, and pad gra pow. I tried the broth of the boat noodles as well and wow it's rich and delicious. The larb moo is typically one of my favorite Thai dishes, and this was was just as spicy and mine infused as I like it. However, the portion was rather small for what it was! The Sukothai noodles were refreshing and flavorful, and portion was good. The peanuts and cilantro really elevate the soup. Highly recommend getting it with the rice noodles! The interior is also very cute, with an outdoor patio for seating in the back.

This place was the most authentic Thai restaurant I have been to. I normally just get the Pad Thai or Pad See Ew at Thai places - but there were so many more noodle options!! We ordered the Tom Yum noodles (wide noodles), which came with fish balls, fish cakes, and crispy wontons. It was delicious, including the wide rice noodles, and the soup was flavorful and a bit sweet. Not too potent or spicy. I would get it again. The Ba Mee (egg noodles) were dry noodles and still quite good. It came with crab meat (not imitation crab) and meat. I liked the egg noodles, but preferred their soup noodles more. Papaya salad was also good, fresh, and came with pork rinds that were delicious. Service was great. The restaurant is decorated nicely. This is a great spot if you want Thai food or noodles in Astoria, a walk from the Broadway stop.

PBN is solid casual source of Thai food and tropical vibes. It's especially fun when the courtyard opens in the summer. As to specific dishes, I recommend starting with the Fried Pork Strips appetizer. It's simple, crispy and delicious. I've come a few times with groups and that's often the table's favorite. But the menu is more than adequate to address most of your Thai cravings. Plus, the service is friendly and the food comes out quickly. If you're in the neighborhood, it's a cool place to hang out on a summer night.

I'm a sucker for boat noodles so this place has been on my list for a bit. Walking in, the place is very kitschy and reminiscent of Thailand. Opted for the boat noodles with beef. It was decent and legit though not the best I've had. The yentafo was a bit more lackluster. It was good, but not as flavorful and fermented as others so more on the lighter side which I suppose may appeal to more palates. Overall a decent spot for boat noodles. And they have other smaller stuff you can also order

Been there twice. Order beef salad is good small portion and noodle soup is so sweet. Service is great!

We got takeout from here on a cold evening during the week. The website to order was easy enough to order and came from their actual website. We did not use uber eats. I was a little early to arrive and my food was not ready. However, the server was super nice and I could either sit at the bar or by another bench area. Since I had time, I admired the decor. It was really neat and I liked seeing the various Thai culture and art around. It is authentic. I got pad Thai with chicken and my friends got a noodle soup (both spicy) Everything was packed well. Food tasted great and I heard the noodle soup broth was really good and perfect for a cold evening. I would love to come again and dine here one day.

This place is probably the most authentic Thai spot we have gone to. Not a lot of places have boat noodles and we were able to adjust our broth by omitting the blood to have it more clear. It was a nice taste reminding us of the food we had in Bangkok. Everything was tasty, simple, and affordable.

Does anyone know if they have actually vegetarian or vegan options? Someone in a review from 2014 says that everything has fish sauce and the owner replies, sorry about that. Do we know if they have changed since then to have really vegan options?

Yes, they have 3 vegetarian/vegan dishes and those don't contain any animal products. Just had one last week and it was good.

Do they have heat lamps outside?

Anyone know if they are open for delivery currently?

    Any gluten free/vegetarian items?

    Yes they do!

    Is it halal?

They serve pork, so my guess is no.

The curries are flavorful with generous portions that are very split-able and the noodles are the perfect balance of soft and chewy with a sweet and/or spicy kick - depending on your choice. The soups are also comforting and a nice winter addition. If you want something a little special, go with one of the family recipes. Our favorite is Uncle New's crab curry which is rich...bordering on decadent. I have a hard time not ordering it every time! I'm a little embarrassed to say I've only sat down inside a couple of times in all this time and never for a lunch or early bird special (dumb!), but the space is welcoming and cozy. As a service to us all - please understand, noobs, that the outer winter door is designed to open only when the inner door is closed and vice versa! Otherwise what is the point? Mind you, we were waiting for our waitress to take our order and didn't want to hound her down as we thought we would be honored the special. While of course we could have came a few minutes earlier to order before 7:00 PM, we thought this was tasteless as why would you even offer that menu in the first place? Our first waitress also gave off a very unwelcoming attitude and even "slammed" our drink cups down, which shocked my boyfriend and me. I ignored the situation and assumed that it was not intentional until the table next to us tipped VERY poorly to that specific waitress, which told me that she most likely provided bad service to that table as well. I will say that I enjoyed their pad see ew and that the other waitress was friendly. However, my boyfriend did not enjoy his entree or appetizer. We had food left over but did not take it home. We unfortunately will not be back because of the poor service provided.

If you still want to give it a try since you're just curious to see what they have in store for a $10 AYCE, don't walk but run away from here. A heads up, they charge you for water without even informing you beforehand. I'm not aware which dine-in restaurants charge their diners for water? Not even in Manhattan and they're up with this crap here in Astoria? We ate halfway through and the staff never checked in, nor did he ask if we wanted to drink anything. When we requested for some water, he gave us a small packaged water bottle (we were three adults) and handed us a menu for drinks. After we were done eating and handed the check, we saw that the water was $2. What kind of deception is this? Why was it so difficult to inform us earlier that they charge for water? The Thai AYCE is such a fail. Just a reminder, this is not even an inch close to authentic Thai. The Fried Rice isn't cooked properly, it's dry, hard and chewy. Other dishes lack spices, seasoning and flavor. All of the dishes are also cold! And who mixes chicken and beef together to make a 'Thai Sizzler' or whatever? It seemed a joke. Labeling isn't done properly. There was a veggie label, we opened it to find fried rice. One label said Chili Chicken/Fish, we opened it and found no fish. That Chili Chicken was dry as hell and dunked in sauce. The overall taste is below average. Probably the only good thing was the Egg Chowmein. This place is poorly understaffed. Only one person who's the host, they're also the waitstaff, and they're also the person to pack to-go orders. I felt sorry for him.

The kitchen here doesn't shy away from traditional flavors--the food is unapologetically spicy and savory, avoiding the "overly sweet" profile that many Thai spots fall into. Here's the breakdown of what we tried: Tom Yum Goong: This was the star of the show. It had a sharp, clean heat and a perfect citrus punch without that syrupy finish you often find elsewhere. Crispy Pork Belly: Exactly what you want it to be. The skin was incredibly crunchy, and the meat remained tender, seasoned perfectly to highlight the savory pork flavor. Fried Fish: Deep-fried to perfection with a light, crispy exterior. The sauce paired chili and fish sauce with fresh mango. Crab Fried Rice: Generous with the crab meat and wonderfully "wok-hei" (charred) and salty. It wasn't bogged down by sweet soy sauce, allowing the delicate crab to shine. The only real sweetness of the night came from the Mango Sticky Rice, which was the perfect, cooling end to a very spicy meal. The mango was ripe and the coconut milk was rich, providing the only sugary reprieve of the evening. Service was so nice. The hostess and sever were so nice and friendly. The severer felt like a Thai uncle, he made jokes, gave us napkins, joked with my child. It felt so familial. The papaya salad with green papaya, string bean, tomato and roasted peanut with spicy lime juice was refreshing and light. The Pad woon sen has sauteed glass noodle, egg, onion, scallion, cabbage, celery, carrot, tomato and sesame oil. The second time I visited, I had the Pad see ew with beef. The Pad see ew has sauteed wide noodles with Chinese broccoli, black soy sauce, and egg. Both dishes were very flavorful, delicious, delectable, and appetizing. The dishes were very filling and there was a good proportion of noodles and protein. I've had the Rainfall in Loei and Fang Martini Time, both are really good drinks and not overly strong. We shared the mango sticky rice for dessert and it was good. The mango was very fresh and the sticky rice with coconut milk was sweet, but not overly. My friends ordered the Kopi De Trang, Spicy Maesai Plum, Rainfall in Loei, Thai ice tea lychee, pad see ew with chicken, pad kee mao beef (non spicy), and khao soi gai confit. I ordered a pad kee mao beef with a spice level of 2 to go. It is a great option to have a spicy and non spicy option for pad kee mao. Everyone enjoyed their food. Staff are very friendly and the food come out very quickly after ordering. There is a 5% discount if you pay with cash and a 2.95% surcharge for credit cards.
