Crab fried rice
Sandra S.

Delicious Thai foods + the decor inside was very nice! My family & I came here for dinner and ordered a lot of foods to share. We ordered: 1) Pork Belly Pad Ka Pow, 2) Crab Fried Rice, 3) Calamari, 4) Chicken Green Curry, 5) Pineapple Fried Rice, 6) Beef Pad Thai, 7) Shrimp Tom Yum Soup, 8) Duck Leg Red Curry. Pork Belly Pad Ka Pow - the pork belly was exceptionally seasoned so well but was a bit overcooked so was very chewy. The jasmine rice was so fragrant and delicious. The basil leaves & fried egg complemented the entire dish very well. I would reorder this as it was very tasty - probably the best seasoned pork belly we had but wish it was a little overcooked. Crab Fried Rice - It was delicious but not the best & most fragrant crab fried rice we had. You can taste the fishiness of the crab meat & the fried rice was also on the soggier side. Calamari - I would skip this item. It was a bit overcooked & ok tasting. Chicken Green Curry - This item was one of our favorites. The green curry was exceptional & very tasty. The chicken was also very tender & it was amazing when eaten w/ jasmine rice. Would reorder this! Pineapple fried rice - This item was ok. It was also a bit on the soggier side & not the most fragrant we have eaten. Beef Pad Thai - This item was also one of our favorites. The pad thai noodle was good quality & the beef was so well seasoned & tender to eat. This entire dish was amazing & we enjoyed it very much. Would reorder this! Shrimp Tom Yum Soup - This item was our least favorite. The soup tasted was very diluted & not flavorful. We have consumed better tom yum soups at other thai restaurants, so this was very disappointing. I would skip this. Duck Leg Lychee Red Curry - This item was also very delicious & unique (I have never eaten an item w/ lychee in it)! The duck leg was cooked to perfection, well seasoned. The red curry itself was amazing, super fragrant w/ some spice. I was surprised how delicious the lychee was in this dish. Delicious! The foods came out fast & service was good.

This used to be Spice and me and my coworkers loved it. Now it's called SAANG! Not sure if it's the same owners but we figured we give it a try. I ordered thai fried rice with chicken. I used to get the red thunder cause it had some spice to it. But they didn't have an option for that. Got the lunch special and got a spring roll as my appetizer. my coworker orders the basil fried rice with chicken and hers looked better lol . she got a curry puff with it. As they didn't label the containers ( hate that ) mine was the only one that had tomato so we obviously knew who's was what. No utensils or napkins. no problem we have at the office but you just never know. came quick orders from grub hub. food was good will order again .

Pad see ew and Curry (lunch deal)

This new Thai spot in LIC is a great spot for some casual Thai food in the area! I came on a weekday during their lunch deal, where you can get an appetizer and entree for ~$15. The place was pretty open and I did not need a reservation. Staff was very kind and service was quick. I got their edamame and pad see ew, while my friend got their curry and tom yum. The appetizers were both alright, and was a smaller portion than I'm assuming what you would get for an appetizer at dinner time (but I didn't mind). Both of their entrees were delicious, however. The pad see ew was a good portion with lots of chicken, and packed full of flavor. Meanwhile, their curry was rich, creamy, and a bit sweet. Such a steal for delicious food at lunch, and I would definitely come back.

Nice restaurant in LIC with flowers and a bar area. Such friendly staff and quick service food came out within 10 minutes. Crying tiger ($30) was well portioned and the steak was good but the garlic rice with the raw egg yolk stole the show. Complimentary fruit at the end.

Came here for lunch for two, just in time to take advantage of the lunch menu. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Monday afternoon, but don't let that fool you. Both of these dishes packed massive flavor. The Pad thai is now ranked among one of my favorites in the city. The food came out piping hot, good sized portions for a lunch special, and was super saucy. I'm not the biggest fan of bean sprouts so I did like that all the condiments were placed on the side without having to ask. The Pad see Ew was also very good, the noodles were cooked perfectly and the sauce was perfect. The lunch menu also gives you a side and I chose the fried chicken dumpling that came with a sweet chili sauce while the other dish had the chicken curry puff. Both were delicious and I would definitely order them on their own. The Thai iced tea was a bit too sweet for my liking but still tasty nonetheless. Overall very pleasant experience for a first time, and is a great alternative to the neighboring TukTuk.

Pad kee mao

One star for the wings. The other for being edible. Friday night dinner at 7pm. I was excited. Thai food is my favorite. I could eat it every day, forever. We already studied the menu and knew what we wanted before arriving. Wings, beef pad kee mao and chicken pad thai - feeling basic. Wings arrived hot. Yummy, crispy, fresh crunch. Would get again. First issue was when I went to use the fork. Cool-looking black metal - with solid, old food residue that only came off with a nail scratch - tissue test failed. A clean replacement was provided. Entrees arrived piping. Smelled nice. Took a couple of bites to really get a sense of the pad kee mao. There was a malicious quality to the spice. Felt different and I couldn't quite place my finger on it until I noticed there wasn't a hint of fresh sliced chili to be seen like I typically experience at high quality Thai establishments. The bits of green and red were diced bell pepper. A pit began to form in my stomach - was it disappointment or something darker? Had to take a break. On to the pad thai. What caught my eye was the generous portion of crushed peanuts - somehow becoming the second best part of the meal - after the appetizer. That and the white meat helped cleanse my palate before I had to call it. Body language and half eaten plates must've spoken volumes because neither waitress bothered to ask us how the food was. They didn't even ask if we'd like dessert. The older one simply slid the bill over and that was that. I really wanted to like this place. I was hoping there would be a solid dinner spot to add to the local rotation. Alas - Tuk Tuk stands tall remaining the local Thai Temple of LIC.

Not grilled at all. Too well done. Not great experience at all.

Was not happy with my order. I asked for the Som Tum grilled beef almost $40. Requested for medium rare. Instead I got well done, not grilled at all because there was no grilled lines or that taste of grilled meat and the meat was well done. After spending so much on this and being pressed for time, I just couldn't wait for them to fix the mistake. The meat was so tough, I felt my jaw locking and clicking every time I chewed. My teeth which I paid so much to have straightened, felt like they were being rearranged back to the original unalignment due to how much strength I was trying to chew this meat. The grinds were small but good and the papaya salad was decent. I told the server about this issue and he tried to make it right with a drink, but I politely declined. I wasn't happy with the food at all here. Dissapointed. Ever since they changed owners it hasn't been the same.

Saang Thai is a nice local restaurant where another Thai restaurant called Spice used to be. Seems like the owners just rebranded by making a few interior changes which made the place look more appealing. Food is still very good and people working there are super friendly. The only thing I wish they would change is how early they close.

It wasn't my favorite menu in the world, but the chicken satay was good and the fried tofu was excellent!

This is the best Thai restaurant I've had in America!…read more We went on Sunday around 230pm and waited about 20 minutes but right after us the line grew pretty long and was a 1 hour wait. The place is quite small. I've been chasing the raw shrimp ceviche flavors ever since I had it at a night market in Thailand and finally found a close 2nd here! It was a perfect balance of tangy and salty. They gave us a decent amount of shrimps. The tom yum soup had a kick (to the back of your throat) to it even though we asked for mild. It was tasty. The basil minced pork was also delicious with the Thai omelette completing it really well! My partner got the intestine herbal soup and it was pretty good! I wasn't in the mood for it. I had some bites of it and it wasn't smelly at all. Thai iced tea was also good and as expected. A bit too sweet for me, I wouldn't order it again.

Pushing through the crowds waiting for a table at the door, we secured a spot just beyond the doorway. Inside, it was very cozy and tight as far as seating. The restaurant dining room is really meant for single diners or pairs of people, as the room is not wide. Any group 4+ will be difficult unless you have a reservation and they planned for it. The menu has a lot of seafood, pork and classic Thai curry dishes. Those all caught my eye. It was hard to decide. The waiter was super friendly and all smiles. We asked for his recommendations between the dishes we were thinking of and his choices were spot on. If you are a fan of spicy/dishes with heat, there are plenty on this menu. I wanted to order a few but I was afraid to given the spice level couldn't really be adjusted on some. Started with the curry puff appetizer. It was really tasty, potatoes and onion as well as the curry powder flavor really came through on this. Delicious. For entrees, we tried the: - clams with basil sauce - packed with a mild chili paste heat in the sauce but stir fried to perfect consistency. Of the whole plate, a few clams didn't open so I tossed those. - duck panang - nicely roasted with crispy textured skin, paired with basil in a coconut milk and curry paste. Very delicious. - stewed pork leg, could've been more tender so it was a tad on the tough side. The soy sauce soup and boiled egg was good though. Drinks were very good, Thai Iced tea was not overly sweet. We opted to pass on dessert as the table we sat at was really meant for two but it was three of us. I felt a little too crammed in. I think I would've enjoyed the meal better if I had a more relaxed/leisure dining pace but they were really busy and too tight on space. I can see why it's a hidden gem and noted as a Bib-Gourmand. Prices are very fair and the food was really good. Very authentic.

I've tried both takeout and dine out by now. The dine in experience last week was far better than the takeout experience a couple of weeks back. Food tasted better and tasted consistent to the same food I've tried at Malii. For dine in last week, we tried their Mango based rum drink each and luckily made it to their Happy Hour time so was charged $8 less, a good deal. We got their Zaab Zaab wings which were good and ordered the Crab Fried Rice and Panang Curry in Beef. Crab Fried rice was pretty yum with actual chunks of crab meat while the Panang Curry tasted just okay. Hope they can work on that. I also ordered Thai iced tea which was very watery and somehow tasted like medicine, they didn't charge me for it and I appreciated the gesture. Looking forward to try them again and hoping their taste profile can be as good and consistent as Malii. Service was warm and friendly, thanks for that! :)

They definitely didn't tell me that lunch specials were available before I ordered my soup. Other than that, everyone is pleasant. Space: they have two sides, so plenty of space, but nights and weekends can get pretty packed, so keep that in mind. Food: I ordered Tom Yum soup and a lunch drunken noodle with a Thai iced tea. I only had the soup there and took the entire lunch special to go. Just based off of the soup, I will be going back. It was delicious and PACKED to the MAX! Writing this now, I can still imagine. Drunken Noodles were also really tasty. I like mine spicy and it could have been made spicier, but that's not even a real complaint. Also- the one next to me had this dish which reminded me of pad see ew but in a gravy. Looked delicious!! I will be back for whatever she had. Overall: the entire block is like a little Thai street.
