We went on a Saturday for lunch to the Rego park location on Woodhaven blvd driving at least an hour as we live in Suffolk county NY. We had the Phuket appetizer spread & the fiery wings. The drinks were amazing also the mango/tango, lychee paradise & rose fizz were great with the smoke presentati The service was great, the food was amazing & all of the mocktails were impressive & tasted amazing. I'll definitely be back. I would rate each item as follows: Food--8/10 as everything we tried was tasty including appetizers. My friends and I went to Nur Thai for dinner. The restaurant layout was nice, there were tables in the front, a counter area in the middle (used for drinks and checkout), and more seating in the back, which made the space feel open yet cozy. We started with the mango salad to share, and it was fresh and nicely spicy, probably one of the better dishes of the night. I also ordered a Thai iced tea, which came with whipped cream on top. It tasted good, but when I tried to mix the tea, milk, and cream, it made a mess. For mains, we had the chicken pad see ew, which was okay but very basic and more watery than I expected. The chicken pad kee mao and the tofu pineapple fried rice were also pretty standard, not bad, but nothing that stood out. The khao soi was the most underwhelming dish of the night; it didn't have the rich, layered flavor that we usually associate with that dish. We all felt that the pricing was too high for the quality of the food. That said, the staff was friendly and attentive, and they were trying to give us the best experience possible, which we appreciated. I can finally take this off my bookmark. I've been to their sister restaurant in Astoria, so I wanted to check this one out. However, the staff wasn't as friendly or welcoming. It wasn't decorated like the one in Astoria either. I wasn't impressed. There was a musty odor once you entered the restaurant, too. It turned me off a bit. I looked through the menu and decided to get the Kao soy, which was recommended by the waitress. I didn't particularly enjoy it, and I had to rush home to use the restroom as my stomach was hurting the next day after it hurt again. Came with a group of 5 for lunch and had a good experience overall. The food was tasty and it came out pretty fast. We got the thai chicken wings and it was pretty good. It comes with five pieces. For entree, I got chicken pad see ew and they were able to accommodate my nut allergy to ensure no cross contamination. The ambiance isn't all too special and there is only one bathroom. My other friends said their entrees were yummy (green curry, tom yum, etc) including the thai iced tea. I wouldn't mind dining back here but probably wouldn't go out of my way to come. read more

The chicken in the Thai dumplings were rancid, we spit it out as soon as we took a bite. The Chicken Pad Thai was also just as disgusting, we took one bite and with how rotten it smelled and tasted we threw it out immediately. The only okay thing was the Firecracker shrimp, which essentially tasted like nothing. I'd avoid this Thai spot at all costs. Came here for late lunch with the family. It was a surprisingly chilly Spring Sunday so I was looking for soup to eat. Ordered the seafood tom yum soup (family size) and the broth was a hit. What surprised me the most though is they did not skimp on the seafood - there were multiple large sized shrimp, squid, mussels and mushrooms! Me & my husband are usually the soup drinkers but this is the first time even my kids had big portions of the soup! We also ordered 2 pad thai - one with shrimp, and the other with chicken. Oh, and also got the Thai fried rice with chicken. All the utems we ordered were big and definitely good for sharing. We went home with doggie bags (no need to think of dinner! LOL). I ALMOST forgot (how could I?!?!). I LOVE pad gra pow and always order it whenever I see it in a menu. I prefer it with crispy pork but since they are Halal, I had to get the ground beef. It was sooooo good! (Would be better if it was crispy pork, but its an acceptable replacement). The base sauce is sooooo addicting! I had to stop myself from finishing the entire thing because portion is big! The ambiance is casual. Ambiance (5/5): The inside was beautifully decorated! It is perhaps a little too dimmly lit with small table lamps for ambiance mood lighting. However, it was a nice quiet dining experience. There is a bar in the middle and the bathroom is located down the stairs. Service (5/5): We dined at 9pm and were actually one of 4 tables during this late hour. At around 9:30pm they did last call for food. Due to the few patrons, we received great service. My one critique was that our server was too forceful in providing menu suggestions that it felt like it was too long and intruded on our dining experience. She did so very politely but it was too much. Food (5/5): Zesty Calamari (5/5): Not extremely breaded but the seasoning was delicious. The mango sauce was unique a provided a nice flavor to each bite. I will it came with a side to drown my calamari into! Massaman Curry (5/5): I absolutely loved my curry dish! The presentation was beautiful with fresh pieces of herbs (rosemary, flower for visual appeal). The curry was very rich and packed with flavorful spices. The chicken bites were tender. I thought there was a similar depth of flavor in the Eggplant Curry too. The side of rice is an extra $2. All the drinks menu are mocktails. Since the establishment is halal, there is no alcohol served! The mocktails all sounded delicious but was pretty expensive ($12+). I ordered the food for delivery. It arrived hot since I requested priority delivery. The spring rolls were uncooked in the middle so they went into the garbage. I ordered the steak with potatoes. The steak was bland. Plus it wasn't a whole ribeye...the meat was connected with meat glue. I was never so disgusted. It is so stretchy and doesn't tear. I would never order here again. This review is for Nur Thai located in Astoria. We were a reservation of 5. As we entered, we were greeted and seated immediately. There is a young Nepalese guy who was our waiter and he was very respectful and provided us exceptional service! We ordered a variety of dishes, drinks and desserts including the sampler, shrimp pad Thai, short ribs, steak and fish. The ambiance of this location is beautiful! 5 stars for this decor! We were here for a birthday celebration and the birthday girl was delighted as it was her first time at this location. Food was delicious. I will say the prices are on the higher end as our bill came to about $430. The drinks are decent, I liked the mango passion drink. Bathroom is downstairs, a bit dark but clean! The food was average. Not terrible, not wonderful. So, that would earn three stars. But I had to deduct for the long wait and bad value. They were supposed to have taken 45 - 55 minutes. They took over 80. I always get Tom Kha soup whenever I order Thai food. My favorite place makes an amazingly delicious Tom Kha and charges seven dollars for a 24 ounce container. The soup from this place was just OK. And it was seven dollars for a 16 ounce container. And the container was very noticeably only 2/3 full! I got an udon noodle dish which was tasty enough. But $14.50 with no protein included is quite high. $3 and up to add protein. Again, this certainly wasn't the worst experience. But I wouldn't plan to order from this place again given all the better choices four Thai in my neighborhood. read more

The food at Nur Thai was mediocre but I like that there's an expansive halal Thai restaurant in Queens (best one by far remains as Top Thai in Manhattan). The reason I gave Nur Thai one star was because of our absolutely ridiculously inappropriate server- VICTOR. If he's your server, please run and hide or ask for someone else. I'm serious. For starters, you don't have to do any ordering because Victor will take the liberty of ordering whatever he pleases for you which will be the most expensive things on the menu. He also has an obsession with strawberry jelly...not sure exactly where it stems from but it's slightly concerning? In regards to drinks he was super annoying and kept asking me what I wanted when I made it clear I didn't want to order anything. I was so fed up with his behavior that I ordered dinner with another normal server instead. For dinner, correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't everything come out at once? Granted we were a big group (eight people) but I've never seen it staggered out by literally half an hour..really concerning. As mentioned, the food was mediocre to me because everything felt like it was lacking flavor. Last strike that made me give Nur Thai was, yet again, due to my best friend Victor. When ordering desserts my cousin wanted a lava cake and he insisted on some Nutella dessert which is fine (I guess) but after going back and forth, he says there are no chocolate lava cakes. I ordered the spicy udon (which was bland), the drunken noodles (which just tasted sour and nothing else) and tom kha gai (which I had been craving for two days, btw). I cannot begin explain how terrible the tom kha was, it was essentially coconut milk with mushrooms in it. I just stared at it wondering why the hell I was given hot milk but decided to at least try it, maybe it will taste good even if it doesn't look good? Nope. It was just hot milk. I'm not even mad about the noodles, I could overlook that but the tom kha is what broke the camel's back. I am attaching pictures so everyone can see that I'm not exaggerating. Takeout Review Calamari arrived soggy. Reheated it in the air fryer which revived its crunch - but unfortunately made it very rubbery. The flavor is terrible. Calamari by itself does not hold much flavor and often relies on the seasoning, of which this had none. Even drenching it in the sweet and sour sauce could not save it. I'll give it a 2. The crab Rangoon felt like biting into a block of cream cheese. It's fried shell added no flavor and minimal texture to the Rangoon. It came with the same sweet and sour sauce as the above. Pad see ew had great flavor. Veggies were fresh and the greens had a nice crunch. The beef, unfortunately, was over cooked and dry. Easily a 5 without the protein. But the beef brings it to a 4. The massaman curry was delicious. Great use of spices and sweetness. It came with a ton of chicken . Too much chicken in fact. Chicken was not memorable. They went a bit cheap on me with the rice - didn't even top off the container with the jasmine rice. Highly recommend trying a variety of appetizers. Fried rice, Drunken Noodles and Pad Thai were also good with generous/shareable and filling serving sizes. We had a curry rice dish which was probably my favorite. Noodles were both more on the sweet end so I'd recommend the rice more. Also the taro bubble tea was surprisingly great! The inviting aunt and I arrived early but our table was ready. We waited for the rest of our party to order. Everyone ordered a drink, an appetizer and an entree. My brother and I both ordered the spicy margarita. These are virgin drinks as they don't serve alcohol. I ordered the golden calamari with sweet chili sauce. My entree was duck with cashews. The spicy margarita has fresh raw jalapeños pieces in the drink. I remember it being hotter. Still very tasty. When the calamari came I was surprised. I never saw calamari rings so big. It was on a bed of mixed greens which I used to counter the heat. I can handle the heat but it is nice to have balance so you can finish the food. When the entrees came one or two were still eating our appetizer. When I finished the calamari I left whatever greens were on the plate to help balance the expectedly spicy duck.. The dish had cashews, celery, onions, bell peppers all seasoned with spicy chili paste. Very flavorful. The vegetables were still crunchy which I love. Portions are big. I took some home. We all had dessert. I ordered the fried green tea ice cream. It is a giant scoop of frozen ice cream dipped in batter fried and topped with whipped cream. It was sweet, refreshing. We had been there for at least an hour and a half. We got the check and the bill was paid. They have a single use gender neutral bathroom. A little dim but clean.
