Looking for a Thai place close to the neighborhood and found Tommy Thai going through the Yelp app. Ambiance of this place is pretty eclectic. Tables and chairs don't seem to match nor even items hung up on the wall which makes it unique and different. Notice the huge screen TV with music playing. There were two staff running back and forth bringing out meals and tending to the customers. Staff motioned us to sit anywhere we wanted. She brought out menu. So here are the items we ordered. -Crispy Duck Over Rice- Would get this again next time I visit. The Duck was crispy and crunchy too. -Spring Roll and Chicken Satay- like the sauce and flavoring of the chicken -Shrimp Pad Thai- Nice size shrimp and tasty. Nice size portion enough for two to share. They were limited on beer. Had wanted a Thai beer but they were all out so I was able to get Sapporo. Way cool. The beer mug was chilled so the beer stayed cold. Tommy Thai was also all out of desserts. Will definitely be back again to try other items on the menu. read more

As I walked towards this place, I was a little skeptical. It was situated in a quiet area further from Queens Blvd than I anticipated, though not too far. However, upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised by the inviting ambiance. For my meal, I opted for the vegetarian pineapple fried rice along with a Thai tea. The food turned out to be delicious, and I was pleased with the generous portion sizes given the price. After finishing our meal, we hung around a bit to enjoy listening to karaoke sung by what I assume are friendly regulars. They encouraged us to sing along, but we politely declined. Instead, I had a great time listening to their performances while enjoying some peach soju. I would definitely go back for another visit. read more

I would love to recommend Tommy Thai for their delicious food, but an unfortunate experience inside the restaurant has made me hesitant to return. There were roaches crawling on the floor. When I alerted the staff, they did nothing about it. As nice as the food was, I don't believe I will be returning unless that staff does a little more than just a shrug at the bugs. read more

This is my favorite Thai place in Queens. They're a little off the beaten path in Elmhurst, but everything I have tried off of their menu has always been delicious. Plus, the staff is super friendly and it's a cute little store front. I've tried a bunch of their menu at this point. You can't go wrong with their Pad See Ew (this is my favorite), Pad Thai, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Massaman Curry. We always order the Pad See Ew with chicken and then change it up with the second entree (my husband and I like to go half and half on our orders). If you're by the Queens Center Mall, Tommy Thai is definitely worth stopping by for a bite if you don't want mall food. read more

We came in around 11:30pm and thankfully they still let us stay in!! This place looks and feels so cozy. They were super friendly and attentive! First off, the cost of food is amazing! I have a goal to try all the Thai restaurants in queens and I'm so happy to cross this one off the list. I was craving for something soupy and this duck noodle soup was spot on. It is a little on the sweet side but the duck tastes SO good and there is so much in the soup too. We asked for the drunken noodle to be super spicy but maybe they heard wrong and there wasn't any spice BUT it tasted amazing and I just asked for spice on the side. Over all, is is a great Thai spot and it's so nice that it's open late. There was also a guy having a solo karaoke session and I wanted to join so badly Will definitely be back!! read more

The place is a small hole in the wall. Super cute and intimate. Amazing beer and wine for $4.00 they also have soju and sake. Yum. The food was amazing and the lady who takes your order is also the cook so you know you are in for the best. Sweetest lady and awesome service. Definitely give it a try. The phones were ringing off the hook although no one was at the place only me. I loved it, all for myself. read more

First time for Lunch found this place as my car was at the shop. Tiny place but very quaint and has a living room feel . The staff is amazing and will explain the dishes . It was my first time so I had the papaya salad and the pork skewers. I was so hungry I just ordered what I knew off the back. The salsa was Franky mad and had the right amount of spic on my lips so refreshing . The pork skewers where nice and charred and soft nice marinated sauce very Smokey. After looking at the menu I will be back to explore this menu. I was told to ask for lunch plates. They are very generous with positions and very inexpensive. read more

I've wanted to go to here for the longest!!!!!! Finally, I went inside today by myself, I was greeted by people singing karioke which made me feel at home because I sing karioke at home! I loved it I also sung No ordinary love by Sade, I had so much fun!! I sung that while I waited for my spring rolls and pad see eiw, both which were very good , fresh, and full of flavor! I appreciate that my host kept checking on me to see if I was okay or needed anything else! Everyone was very kind and supportive and the food was delicious! Thank you so much guys for my dinner tonight I loved it keep up the great work!! read more

I've had their food here through delivery and dine-in. The interior of the restaurant was quite gloomy for service. The table was quite sticky for an unoccupied restaurant, even the seats were unclean, and most things observable to me were quite unhygienic, that I was eager to leave after having dinner. The service here was no-frills and hospitable. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. It was evident that the dishes were cooked in old oil, overly seasoned with MSG, and lacked freshness. The beef pad se-ew (3/5) was bland and excessively greasy. The chicken wings (2/5) were also greasy, lacked freshness, and clearly old oil was used. The Pad Thai (3/5) lacked flavor, with a shortage of sauce and the smoky essence that typically comes from high-temperature cooking. The vegetable spring rolls (3/5) contained an excessive amount of MSG. read more

I had lunch here with a couple of friends on a weekday. It was fairly empty during this time. This place is very cozy with only a handful of small tables, so it's not for groups. I found the prices here to be very reasonable - entrees are slightly cheaper than other Thai places in the neighborhood by a dollar or two. We kept it simple and had the Pad Thai and the Pad Kee Mao. Our noodle dishes were fresh and had good flavor. However, the portion sizes here are small. That explains the lower price. After I left I was still pretty hungry, so I grabbed a snack elsewhere. Don't go here if you want a filling meal. read more

Was craving for Thai food late at night and we stumbled across this place. Their food is really nice so we would have to go back to try more! This place is worth the visit! read more

I live in the area and these guys are open late, sometimes well past their closing time. I don't know why someone would complain about the ambiance because you can get the best food in places that are like a hole in the wall.. for me I love the coziness and I feel like everyone has the proper service for their needs because of the space. I've had probably everything on the menu by now with no complaints. The food is consistent, not like others have mentioned in the past and they've really established themselves over the years. If you go there when the regulars are there, you'll see a plate of fried calamari on every table. Their Som Tum is a little on the sweeter side, but if you know authentic Thai restaurants, that shouldn't be a problem because they will always have the 4 sauces to suit your taste, salty - sweet - sour - spicy. I always add the vinegar with pickled chilis (sour) and a lot of spicy to mine.. i'm korean.. I come here as a regular now and the other regulars as well as the staff here are super friendly.. and there's a lot of regulars now. A recent reviewer mentioned that she saw someone singing solo karaoke past closing time.. that was probably me.. haha read more

Not only did this restaurant take over an hour to deliver the food. They not only got the order wrong, the food did not come with utensils as requested. Really good food and even better prices! This is my go to spot for Thai food. Everything is always fresh and the staff is so friendly. Our go to for take out is: Fried calamari very crunchy and crispy has a good flavor with the Thai chili sauce. Spring rolls are one of the best appetizers they are crunchy and flavorful. Pineapple fried rice with shrimp really good flavor the pineapple adds a kick to it and the cashews. Thai basil fried rice flavorful but don't get very spicy unless your ready. This is spicy spicy! The beers are also very cold here since they freeze the mug which a lot of places lack. read more

The exterior of Tommy Thai may take you aback. It's plain and stays clear of accessorizing. However, I visited recently during the holidays and noticed the interior through the glass window. There was an excessive use of Christmas lights and decoration by the entrance way, causing clutter that gave me an almost claustrophobic feeling. Looking pass that, I walked in and was seated at the only available table (there were only 5). We ordered a papaya salad to start and I ordered myself a beef noodle soup. The papaya salad was one of the better ones I've had. It was a perfect balance between sweet and salty and wasn't overly spicy. My beef noodle soup was rather good as well with a pretty generous amount of meat. Service was friendly and staff came by a couple of times to ensure we were doing okay. I also overhead customers chatting with a man whom I believe is Tommy (the owner?). Sounds like he has a number of loyal customers who appreciate the simplicity and authenticity of his food. I definitely did! read more

Delicious Thai cusines! Already I have visited Tommy Thai over a dizen because they are new, their food is very good, and it is near my home! I also don't have the to deal with the crowded Thai restaurants in along "Thai-town" (Elmhurst on Broadway and Woodside Ave.) as so named by my Thai friends. Been ordering delivery from this restaurant a few times already & a while ago got a chance to go with my boyfriend. The place is small & cozy. Lots of decorations that makes it look like bohemian style. When we came in we got seated fast. We dicided to order appetizer: calamari- fried breaded squid. Main dish: My bf got beef basil noodles- its a flat noodle with beef & some thai sauce. I ordered beef salad- grilled beef with cucumber, lettuce & some spicy sauce. For drinks we got thai iced tea. I love the texture of the calamari. Its not so soft & not so hard. The breaded that they put taste really good too & the sauce on the side to use for dipping. I tried the food of my bf & its perfect. Its spicy but good amount of spice that you'll enjoy everything. Mine is yummy too! If you love spice & those soy sauce that they use then you'll love mine. It has grilled beef & perfect match with cucumbers, onions & lettuce! Yumm! By the way the owner is nice & very welcoming. Great food & service! For sure coming back for more! read more

Absolutely love this place I used to order for deleivery but today stopped by as I got so hungry and the freezing windy weather was calling for hot bowl of noodle soup! It didn't disappoint me Port was a bit tough (not too bad, just expected falling off tender meat as described). But perfect noodle soup for winter! Reminded me of Korean soup~ Thai tea never can go wrong. Sweet and strong ! I also love their pickled peppers~ Very good price and nice staffs. I tried their curry puff, Thai fried rice, tom yum soup, Pad Thai,... All of them are good! read more

What a great family-owned restaurant! My bf took me here on a chilly dreary afternoon in New York, and I felt immediately warmed up when I walked into this cute joint. The decor was simple yet thoughtfully designed, and it had such a homey feel to it. I HAD ONE OF THE BEST DUCKS OF MY LIFE HERE! Seriously, get it. It's listed under the Chef's Special, with good reason. For $19, it was worth every single penny. We opted for the tamarind sauce (other choices are pineapple curry and choo chee curry) which gave a nice tangy flavor alongside the savory of the duck. The skin was soooo crispy, and the duck was so tender! Damn, I'm salivating right now! It came with fried shallots as well - every bite was amazing. Also, lunch specials from 12-4 pm. Woah. For $6.50-7.50, you get your choice of protein + a dish. So worth it! Curry puffs were also very good. Very plump and delicious, especially the vinaigrette sauce it came with. read more

Nothing ruins a perfect day like a failed takeout dinner. The most bland pad kee mao I have ever tasted. I even asked for extra spicy but It was mild at best. It also had tomatoes in it which I thought was odd for a pad kee mao. Some pieces of onions tasted rancid like they have gone bad and the burnt pieces of minced garlic left a bitter aftertaste. The description on the menu said it had bamboo shoots in it but there weren't any. In a nutshell this was a greasy flat rice noodles with a subtle hint of pad kee mao flavor. Very disappointed. I will never order from here again. read more

A petite, cutely designed Thai restaurant with a small selection of authentic Thai food. Yaaay! We finally have a Thai place on the ~other~ side of Queens Boulevard and it's awesome! They just opened up this week, I happened to be passing by and I think my eyes just about bulged out of my head. A bunch of locals were crowding around, ogling the menu, when one of the staff came out to welcome us in all smiles. Everyone there is super friendly. Two of the workers chatted with us a bit about Thai food in the neighborhood and gave us a lemongrass sweet tea on the house. We ordered the curry puffs and two orders of pad kee mao, one with chicken and one with shrimp. The curry puffs were spot on. I asked for my pad kee mao extra extra spicy and they totally listened to me! It was nice and spicy, and the flavor was great and didn't get overpowered by the heat. They even gave me a little container of a dry spice mix that I sprinkled over the noodles, and it added a nice little smokiness. The Prik Khing is also great, a hint of spice with perfectly cooked string beans and ginger. I like to get it with duck. The pork skewers are really delicious. I would skip the dumplings and the crab rolls. It's awesome to finally have a Thai place in this part of Elmhurst, I can't wait to try the rest of their menu. Welcome to the neighborhood guys! :) read more

Friends got take out from this Thai place in Elmhurst. They got three salads: green papaya, mango, and duck. They were all very good. They had the right balance of sweet, sour, savory, and crunchy. We also had the chive pancake and the hoy joh, an appetizer made with shrimp, chicken, cilantro and served with plum sauce. Both were well seasoned and delicious. Finally we also ordered the Pad Woon Sen with beef. The beef unfortunately was a little tough. Luckily the dish had enough flavor to save the dish. All in all a good experience. read more

3.5 stars - Food was good, but the service was so slow....it took around 30 minutes for our food to come out. We were a table of four and there were only two other filled tables that already got their food. I ordered the green curry with tofu and the tofu was delicious. The food was pretty authentic and tasty, but there wasn't a lot of rice with the dish. Overall, The food was good but I wouldn't recommend Tommy's Thai if you are super hungry and want your food to come out asap. But I would recommend their curry dishes! read more

Terrible. I got the Pad Woon Sen with beef. The beef and whole meal was bland and dry. As well, the meal contained mushrooms and tomatoes. The menu does not have these ingredients on the menu description, which is why I chose this meal. I absolutely hate mushrooms and tomatoes. As well the curry puffs I ordered had no spice to them and super dry when you bite into it. The "relish" is in a baby shot glass size container. Disappointed in this place. I live very close to this restaurant and its always like a hit or miss. Today I found hair in my rad na!l athough I got a new order with no charge. The noodles that come with the rad na was tiny pieces and very hard, felt like it was old and not cooked thoroughly. (flat noodles) (new order was better) my brother ordered basil fried rice and it had absolutely no basil in it. They replaced it with hot chili peppers and omg it was non edible. I mean I'm Korean and I can take the heat, but seriously they cooked the entire rice with the chilli.. It was so damn spicy! It never was like that. In all honesty, maybe the usual chef wasn't there today... But who knows... And w this pandemic u have to be very cautious of what u r eating out... I give them 2 stars because they are otherwise alright... But today's food was def a waste of money! read more
