    Bulgogi tacos

I really thought this place was great and have no complaints! I love the tapas style options. We ordered: crunchy tofu (our fave, delish and the kimchi was so good), soft shell crab, fried pork dumplings, and bulgogi tacos. I think four tapas for two people is perfect. Ggreat service and refreshing soju cocktails.

First time here and definitely not the last! The truffle fries (not pictured) were the table's favorite! We loved trying the soju flight because all of the drinks were so good! They're perfect to share with a group because likely everyone find a new favorite! The service was attentive and kind staff.

Great spot for happy hour with discounted prices on drinks and food! I recommend the wings, crunchy tofu, and chili shrimp. All items were tasty and easy to share. The mains are a lot smaller than the pictures show, but do taste delicious. Staff were friendly and we were allowed to stay quite a while for happy hour.

Decided to come here before a concert with a friend, and left pretty satisfied! I've only ever had takeout from this place so was surprised that the service isn't as great as it should be. It took some time to get our order in and get napkins, but not a huge deal. We both got sizzling stone pots (I got the spicy pork, she got the mushroom one). Really great and was perfect for pre-concert fuel. We also got drinks. I tried their matcha cocktail and I wish I had a bigger glass of it! So tasty.

There has never been a day I haven't loved you.... I didn't know this song going in, but I became intimately familiar with it and other Korean love songs as the meal went on. Perhaps subtly entranced by the music, I fell in love with my BBQ chicken hot stone pot. It arrived sizzling, and the rice became crispy and caramelized as I worked my way through. Threading through the gochujang paste was a good call. It gave the dish a good balance of sweetness and spice. I wasn't quite ready for some of the outliers on the menu -- truffle fries and corn cheese. Maybe after a few drinks from the bar they make more sense, but certainly not after my tart ginger limeade (badly wanted that soju flight). Service was great and very on point. The whole experience might have even been romantic seated among the candlelit tables, but I was alone today (sigh). Alas, I didn't appreciate the full effect of the tunes that Im Chang-jung was belting out so passionately.

Overall: A // 5 stars Much smaller and calmer than the union square location, but they also offer an exciting wheel of fortune to spin for those who make a reservation -- in which we won some peach soju shots -- which set off the meal at a positive vibe. I love the diversity of the menu covering everything you could want to eat in Korean cuisine from healthful choices to comfort classics. (Uni Bibimbap: A) - Colorful bowl with plentiful amount of sea urchin at the $35 range. I love how they took a beautiful Korean dish and infused it with flavors from other cuisines, from the crunchy quinoa, to the colorful roe and greens and salad. Spicy fried dumplings

Excellent and high quality Korean food! The restaurant is small, I'd recommend a reservation. It's pretty loud inside, but we didn't mind it. We got the fried spicy dumplings, the bulgogi main, and the fried chicken baos. Everything was absolutely delicious, and very filling. The main is big enough to share, and I really enjoyed the variety of sides it came with. I also ordered the melon soju cocktail, it was so refreshing. I loved the ice cube on a stick it came with. Food came out very quickly, and service was great. If I'm ever in NY again, I'd return.

Visit & Service We came here without a reservation after visiting the Empire State Building (in the area) and were looking for a dinner spot on a weeknight. When asked if we had a reservation, I said no and asked if one was necessary. The staff member who greeted us was really nice and said it wasn't a problem, taking us to a table immediately. It was such a breath of fresh air compared to service we'd experienced at other dining spots in the city. Food We had to order the wings and tried both flavors, they were both good. We also ordered a few other items. Funny enough, I had looked through Yelp photos beforehand to decide what to get and noticed my dish in the pictures came with three pieces of corn, which is my favorite. When my dish arrived, it only had one piece. I asked the server, and he explained that they used to serve three but now it's just one. He kindly brought a few extra pieces on the side since we were three people. (They charged us for them, which was fair.) Overall Experience Overall, it's a cute spot with friendly staff, which is refreshing in a city not exactly known for warm service. You might want to make a reservation just to be safe, but even without one, the experience was enjoyable.

Tried this location for dinner and it did not disappoint. Decided to go with appetizers si ordered a couple of options: the crispy chicken and galbi buns, calamari with peanuts, fried tofu, and the cheese corn. All these choices where good. Servings were an appropriate size and shareable. To drink, I went with the soju flight and it was so good! It came with 4 flavors (honeydew, grape, passion fruit, and lychee). Place was nice, had 2 levels but it can get busy. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend this place and they do have multiple locations

We ate tapas style from the happy hour menu. Shrimp, Dumplings, Chicken, sushi roll, & tofu!

Very nice choices for happy hour - was an easy early dinner. So many options & everything sounded so good that we had a tough time choosing. Everything was as delicious!

We had a really great dinner at Barn Joo. We didn't even realize we came in close to closing time, but we never felt rushed, which immediately set a good tone. Meeting Janice was honestly the highlight of the night. She was wonderful and gave us amazing service throughout!! The restaurant was clean with a really nice, relaxed ambience. When it comes to food, the buckwheat cold noodles were my favorite. They were refreshing, full of flavor, and the sashimi was super fresh. We also ordered the fried tiger rolls, which were crunchy in all the right ways and tasted fresh. Overall a really enjoyable experience from start to finish.

I came here for lunch this time and noticed they have a different lunch and dinner menu. While the lunch menu didn't impress me as much ..I'm not sure if I ordered the wrong dish...the overall experience was still very nice. The atmosphere is beautiful and lively, and the service was attentive even though it was busy. That said, the dinner menu is my favorite. I've been here multiple times for dinner and have never been disappointed. The dinner dishes are consistently delicious, creative, and well worth coming back for

    Spicy Pork Main
    Jocelyn S.

Really solid Korean pocha type of place. No need for a reservation on Sunday lunch. The spicy pork main dish was really fun because it came with corn and potato and truffle parm. I really liked the bulgogi hot stone for the crispy rice. I think my favorite was the seafood pancake because it had a satisfying crisp! The soju cocktail flight was yummy and didn't have much alcohol taste but managed to get the theee of us a little tipsy.

Checked the website and was wondering, is there someone to email/contact about a dinner reservation for a large group?

Yes, you need to email event@barnjoo35.com for parties of 8+. I emailed this account and they got back to me within the hour.

How to make a reservation? I tried to call in yesterday and they told me to email you and I did, but no reply until now.

It's a walk in place. We got there 1230ish and found a table easily. Mayve been lucky.

I found the hodgepodge of old-timey decor to be a bit kitsch, but to each their own. I came with a group on a weeknight with no reservation. We were seated immediately on a high wood table. Although the bar wasn't busy (there were plenty of empty spaces, small groups scattered throughout the area), the service was quite slow. The server was inattentive and took a while to take our orders. We had to ask her for water three times, searching for her across the room in an attempt to catch her attention. She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience. It's certainly a bar for a certain type of crowd, and the service was lacking, but maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be served better than we were.

It's one of those spots that are simple/bar korean food forward with slight modernization/americanization and it might be best used as a place before going out to carb up, because the portions are large but nothing really stood out to me flavor-wise making me want to come back just to have the food on its own. The jajangmeyon was tasty although a little basic. The corn fritter was my favorite, as it was hefty and a little sweet with a nice crunch but didn't wow me either. The chicken and fries are what you would expect. I think this place is good if you are looking for volume/portion size but not necessarily great for a one on one date or dinner where the focus is the food. The frozen alcoholic drinks were tasty enough though I didn't get a buzz. This place has been around for a long time, and I typically love all of Hand Hospitality's creations, but can't say this one is my favorite. However, it has its own role in the community and definitely still think it's worth coming if you fit the demographic I described. The wait staff was nice and attentive, the vibes were good and the place was generally chic and modern; it was not hard to get a reservation.
