Miang Kham/Miang Kham Kana- One bite wraps with five Thai flavors. $17. Delicious
    Glenn C.

Recommendations- Miang Kham Kang, Soft Shell Crab Mun-Pu, Nuer Todd, seafood in general. Also on a side note, the spot is spelled Wanglang as one word. I went to this new excellent Thai food place, from the people behind Tha Phraya on the Upper East Side, with a few others yesterday evening. The menus are similar, with this having a slightly fancier look and a few dishes that aren't on the menu at the other place. Similar to the other spot, there is a large cocktail menu, but I didn't bother. Two others had their Thai Iced Tea, which they enjoyed, which came with a lot of miniature round ice cubes. The staff here were friendly, giving recommendations to people based on spice preference, and otherwise recommending the seafood and Khao Soi the most from their main dishes, and the Thai Donut/Tod Mung Goong or Pak Mor/Steamed Rice Dumplings in terms of appetizers. I started with a dish that I love but don't commonly see in NYC, the Miang Kham, or Miang Kham Kana, for $17, which is listed as one bite wraps with five Thai flavors. Along with Chinese broccoli leaves as wraps, the flavors to add included lime, ginger, chili, peanut, roasted coconut flakes, dried shrimp, and shallot. This all comes with a caramelized sauce, which has a bit of a sweet heat with some nuttiness. You can think of this as a Thai version of a ssam, though a spoon is used instead of chopsticks to put all the various ingredients inside the leaves before being wrapped up. There is a wide mix of flavors from sweet to spicy to salty to vegetal, and this can easily be shared as well. I would heavily recommend this. Two of the others shared the Pak Mor for the same price, listed as savory Thai steamed rice crepe wrapped around sweet radish, red onion & peanut topped with coconut milk. This came with four pieces and was a very colorful plate. Along with the various flavors, there was also a bit of heat from some chopped bird's eye chili to balance out the sweetness. They seemed to like this a lot, also. My main dish was the $35 Crispy Soft Shell Crab Mun-Pu, listed as crab topped with crab paste sauce, garlic, and cilantro, with namjim seafood sauce on the side. The crabs were perfectly fried without any excess oil with a very thin layer of batter, so it was easy to taste the natural sweetness of the crab. The best part of the dish was the sauce, being complicated and extremely flavorful with plenty of crab essence along with lots of garlic, a bit of sweetness, and some savoriness. This went perfectly over the complementary jasmine rice, and whenever I wanted to add a bit of heat or extra flavor, the namjim on the side added a bit of extra citrusy sourness and heat. This was delicious and highly recommended. I tried a bit of someone else's Khao Soi Nuer Toon for $29, a northern Thai coconut curry soup with egg noodles. Compared to the usual version topped with a stewed chicken leg, this came with ultra tender braised beef, as per the words "neur toon." Of what I tried, the broth was excellent, being complex with some sweetness and a bit of heat. To add a bit more flavor, there was also a chili oil on the side, which I had, as the other person doesn't like spicy food much. The chili oil was my preferred type with a stronger roasted flavor, but with plenty of heat. Two others enjoyed the $30 Crab Fried Rice Mor-Din and the $45 Pla Tod Kra-tiam very much, which both came with the same namjim. The food here is excellent. Would recommend heavily.

Although Wang Lang has just opened in Flatiron, its already taken one of my top spots for Thai food. The menu was very shareable with portion sizes being generous enough to try a variety of dishes without feeling skimmed or overpriced. Price-wise, I thought everything felt pretty reasonable for the quality, portion size, and with it being in the city. We ordered a variety of dishes including the crab fried rice, lamb karee, soft shell crab, shrimp donut, khao soi and some drinks. We enjoyed everything but especially loved the cocktails and the soft shell crab. The ambiance was also great. The space is incredibly cute and feels very intimate without being cramped. It felt trendy but without over doing it. Service was probably the only thing that felt a little inconsistent. It wasn't bad, but it did come across a bit standoffish. We didn't mind too much since we were mainly there to spend time with friends, but toward the end of the meal it felt like we were getting rushed out. We were barely there for an hour and a half when we finished our food, the table was cleared and we were handed the check without asking for it. After paying, there was no service afterwards and no one refilled our water. Overall though, I had a positive experience at Wanglang. Good food, good ambiance, solid cocktails, reasonable prices, and great food. TLDR; good food, good ambience, decentish service. Yeah id come back.

Beautiful new Thai restaurant in Chelsea that offers phenomenal service. The waiters were so good about checking in about allergies, water refills, and anything else we might need. The food standouts are the tod mun goong (fried shrimp donuts), the pla muk yang (grilled marinated squid), and their moo krob (crispy pork belly). I also tried their soft shell crab on another occasion, and it was delicious. Great for a night out with some nice Thai food!

This is soooo good! Definitely recommend!!! The Thai food is very authentic, not too spicy but super flavorful and tasty! The decor is very nice inside, feels very welcoming. Had a great time hanging out, chatting and enjoying good food and cocktail. Definitely recommend their soft shell crab and stir fry noodle, super delicious! Server is quick and attentive as well, highly recommended!

Stopped in for their lunch special and it was well worth it! ($20 entree with free dumpling). The thai iced coffee was AMAZING. And I splurged on the Thai Iced Tea Tiramisu because WHAT! That was also so so good. Service was very prompt and you can have lunch here in an hour (even less). The inside restaurant is spacious and they have ample sidewalk seating. I sat outside in the sun and it was a great break in the day.

Everything was so good?! Crab fried rice + soft shell crab was such a good pairing. They also have $35 3-course pre-fixe menu I want to try. The service was great, the staff were very attentive and explained the menu to us very well. It feels elegant inside, with gorgeous interior design.

One of the best experiences in New York! I had originally found this restaurant on instagram when I saw a mango sticky rice drink and had to add it to my list. This place opened relatively recently and what an honor to try it!! Our host Toto was the sweetest man ever, so kind and provided amazing service! We tried a few things including the Pak Mor which were the most delicious little purple dumplings that were made of radish, red onion, and peanut but almost gave ground beef texture, but topped with coconut milk, and it was truly nothing like I've ever tried! I loved it and we ordered atleast two orders of that! We also tried the crab fried rice which was so buttery and they were not cheap with the crab!! Also a 10/10! You can't go to a Thai place without getting some chicken satay and this one was fire! We also got the larb spring rolls which were so yummy and definitely spicy! But the star of the show was the mango sticky rice drink!! Oh my goodness, so delicious. I still think of this drink till this day. It was creamy and refreshing and the perfect amount of alcohol. Truly amazing, and paired with mango sticky rice dessert??? Truly incredible! Titi wasn't lying when he said they had the best mango sticky rice the ambiance was super modern and clean and I love the red vibe! I can totally see it already at night. Can't wait to return as I've been thinking of this meal since I've left!!

Great ambiance and decor. Attentive staff. Vast choices on the menu. My favorite dishes were the desserts. Mango sticky rice and tiramisu. Right amount of sweetness.

Stopped by the brand new Thai spot Wang Lang and was impressed! The interior is pretty large and has a nice decor which is perfect for a date or night out. I think they also had a large room in the back to host parties or larger groups. The service and staff were both kind and attentive throughout the night which was great. The food was presented well and was super flavorful. I really liked the Khao Soi which had a slightly spicy curry broth with large chunks of braised beef and some crunchy and soft noodles underneath. The pad thai also had really good flavor and came with some huge shrimp. The only downside was it was a bit of a pain to eat the shrimp with the shell on. I kind of wished they just de-shelled it. At least the staff were nice to offer moist toilettes to clean our hands after. I'll definitely come back to try some more dishes!

We have been waiting for them to open all winter and they just did last weekend. They have a lot of less common Thai dishes on their menu (no pad see ew, kee mao etc) which made us excited to try it. Came here for lunch without a reservation on a Saturday and were seated right away. They did a great job with the renovation (was the old Tappo location), everything looks new and is nicely decorated. The space is large with plenty of tables. The servers are all very friendly and attentive and are Thai (a good sign). As a group of two, we ordered 4 entrees as we wanted to try a bunch of dishes. Three would have been enough to fill us. We tried the beef khao soi, lamb shank, their version of pad thai and the morning glory. The beef khao soi was excellent, I would go back just for this dish alone. The beef was super tender and the flavors were spot on with all of the right ingredients that should be in khao soi eg pickled mustard greens, crunchy noodles, onion, etc. The other stand out dish was the morning glory. We had this in Bangkok and had yet to have it in the US and it was delicious. So much flavor even though it appeared to just be morning glory with garlic and bird's eye chili. It came with rice though it really did not need it. Definitely recommend. The lamb shank was very tasty and was a large portion. It came with 2 pieces of potato and onion, along with rice and a fresh cucumber, chili and onion sauce. The meat was very tender and the sauce it was in was very similar to the khao soi base, but a bit more like a massaman. I enjoyed it, but wish there were more potatoes or veggies with it. The pad thai style dish came with 3 head on whole river shrimp and was a decent portion. The noodles were a bit different than regular pad thai and there were tons of tiny dried shrimp in the dish. This was not my favorite tbh as the small dried shrimp gave the dish a fishy flavor and while the shrimp were cooked nicely, the texture was a bit too soft for my liking. This was the only dish I would not get again and I don't think it is because they prepared it incorrectly, it just isn't up my alley. Overall a great meal, prices are what you would expect without being egregious and I am told they do take out as well. We will absolutely be back, great addition to the neighborhood!

The atmosphere is thoughtfully designed--nice and casual neither too loud nor too dark to see your food. It's a great place to catch-up with friends. The staff is exceptionally attentive, taking the time to explain the menu and proactively checking for allergies. Expect a creative and interesting beverage program that strays from the standard cocktail path. Small Bites: Miang-Kham Kana: Refreshing and delicious. Tod Mun Goong & Jor Sai-ua: Both are standouts for their crispiness and deep flavor. Larb Spring Rolls: Very good, though they pack a noticeable spicy kick. Entrées: Crab Lovers: Both the Soft Shell Crab Mun-Pu and the Crab Fried Rice are fail-safe, top-tier choices. Pla Nueng Ma-now: For the adventurous; it is incredibly flavorful but offers a serious "spicy pain" that builds after a few bites. Duck Confit: Paired with a sweet, fragrant curry sauce so good you'll want extra jasmine rice just to soak it up. Lamb Karee: The ultimate comfort dish--filling, rich, and satisfying. Dessert - don't skip Coconut Ice Cream: A classic, reliable finish. Thai Tea-ramisu: A must-order fusion dish that perfectly blends unexpected flavors.

Got the lunch special which had a few entree choices and came with a Chive Dumpling. It was really soft and almost mochi-like, and the sauce on the side was great. For the entree I chose the Red Curry. Flavor was strong and had a good amount of chicken. Perfect level of heat too.

Was pleasantly surprised with the good service and good food. First off I'm Thai and I normally don't like going to Thai restaurants when I can cook it myself but this place did not disappoint. First off, love their menu options! They have a number of dishes I wanted to try which is a good problem to have. We were 3 people doing a family style dinner so I got to taste everything. We ordered in total 6 dishes and 1 dessert. In my opinion the flavors were good. This is not Americanized Thai, true authentic flavors. We were impressed. My top 3 recommendations would be the Tod mun goong, soft shell crab, and the raw shrimp goong cha nam pla. The service was friendly and attentive. We did take the recommendations from the server on what to order and as stated above we were pleased.

We walked in without a reservation around 6:20 p.m., and they were able to accommodate us at a shared table until 7:15. The menu surprised me a bit. Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. We ordered those along with the mushroom burger and asked them to cut the burger in half for us. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer. For drinks, she brought over someone more seasoned, who quickly helped guide us based on our preferred taste profiles. Her suggestions were very good. The mushroom burger was the highlight for me. It was a little salty, but the crispy mushroom and soft bun were a great combination. I honestly wished I had more than half. The wings were okay. They were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but coated in a Dorito-like powder that made them very messy. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back, especially for the mushroom burger.
