Was super excited to try this place with my Filipino friends so we came on a weekday night with a reservation! TBH you'll need one because everyone wants to come here on a Thursday night in east village. I didn't know it was that popular. I remember the old jeepney days and how I used to do a lot of kamayan and dinners and drinks there so this is definitely the spot for Filipino food in the neighborhood since they changed the store and made it to be Naks. They didn't change the layout and it looks nostalgic to me as the old Jeepney but I'm glad their menu seemed to have changed! Seems like for dinner they do a lot of different classics and we ordered the classic Filipino foods. I got their special cocktail Hoy Bayabas which is a fusion of mezcal and tequila and it tastes like their own take on spicy marg! Super yummy. We proceeded to order the KFC to start (Kanto fried chicken) and this has cheese wiz on the side which made my friends laugh. (Although on the menu it says garlic aioli) The chicken was fattening moist and delicious! We ordered the pancit basil patong and the Kare kare (beef cheeks with eggplant) for the main dishes and they were both super banging. The rice cuts out the peanut and made it easy to eat eggplant even though I'm not a fan of eggplant! The beef in the kare kare was super tender and yummy. I was especially looking forward to their limited prix fixe menu and had already planned out exactly what I wanted to order. It instantly took me back to childhood family BBQs, and when a dish can bring back a memory like that, you know it's something special. It was incredibly tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of char to complement the bright lemon-lime marinade. We honestly didn't want to stop eating it. The KFC chicken was another standout. It was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. They are very busy though as I saw people get turned away as walk-ins. Once inside, we were led to a table in the back. The space is chic and contemporary with a modern take on Filipino classics. I've had this place saved on Instagram for the longest time. I tried to come for brunch the Saturday before (party of 5) and tried to walk in when the restaurant opened at 11:30 am. I've been wanting to try Naks weekend brunch for a while now, but you have to be on top of reservations because they only come out a week in advance. They were a little slow to open on Saturday morning, but when they did, the line moved smoothly and we were seated in the middle section. We ordered: KFC Sandwich $18 - includes golden fried chicken pieces with a, garlic aioli, and vinegar fries on the side. This was a little messy to eat, but the chicken was moist and cooked well. The fries were good, but a little inconsistent in texture. Some pieces were hard while other's soft. Salted Egg Pancake $16 - includes one large thick pancake with citrus butter, and salted egg cream. The pancake was good, but I did not really taste the salted eff flavor. Flavors were spot on, with a slight tang from the vinegar sauce that tied everything together. Adobo Rice (Claypot Chicken, Pork Belly, Garlic Rice) - $32 | 4.5/5 Very flavorful and well-balanced, though the portion was on the smaller side. Still a solid dish. Ginataang Alimango (Dungeness Crab) - $33 | 4.5/5 Another standout, rich and delicious, though I personally would've preferred a lighter coconut base. We heard good things; authentic and delicious Filipino food with east village vibes. I've never had Filipino food so I can't say whether or not it was authentic but delicious-definitely yes! The drinks were unique and meticulously prepared. They have UN beer from Brooklyn and that was very tasty. The food was the star. Lechon for two, spring rolls, and KFC, all were amazing. My one thorn was the original service from the hostess. We arrived an hour early and had no problem waiting and sitting at the bar having a few cocktails. However, when asked if we could sit early we were told that there were no available tables for two. Yet it was clear that there were at least three tables for two at the front of the restaurant. This lapse aside our server was very attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend. read more

Nice spot for filipino brunch! Interior was nice, but a little bit cramped. Kare kare omelette was definitely our favorite dish. It had great peanuty flavor in the sauce, and the beef was very tender. We enjoyed the shrimp paste that it came with as well. We were excited for the salted egg pancake, but it ended up tasting more like citrus. It was tasty, but a little too sweet and cake-like for my liking. Can be quite a long wait if you walk in, so I would recommend getting a reservation. read more

Great spot for flavorful Filipino food, perfect for groups or dates. I recommend ordering a couple dishes to share as the portions are a bit small. Some favorites were bbq pork belly, Kare kare, and pancit batil patong beef noodles. Every dish was full of umami and you will finish the dishes fast. Overall the food leaned towards a sweet flavor profile - no complaints here. The crab, chilled bean appetizer and the ube cheesecake were the highlights. The cheesecake was light and had this savory cream/foam on top. Wish we could have tried the ube pancakes but I think they only have that for lunch.
