We walked in this establishment with no reservations for 8 people after walking 17k steps in the city. We were starved and wanted a delicious meal quickly. They had a table open for us but was reserved in 1.5 hours. The challenge was if they can quickly prepare the food we can quickly eat! The restaurant was cozy and had nice wooden furnitures with a slight view of the kitchen. Nicely lit We ordered kare kare, crispy pork kare kare, fish in gata, Chinese broccoli, crispy pata and sisig. And of course rice and garlic rice. All were delicious! So full we had no room for dessert. We ordered, they cooked and we ate all within 1.5 hours! I recommend this place and will be back when in town! read more

Really liked Kabisera back when they were a stall in the canal st market (rip) and was excited to try this restaurant. My party of three ordered: + Ongpin cocktail + White lady cocktail + pancit negra with ground chicken + Lumpia Shanghai + Arroz caldo + sautéed bok choy + Bibinka + Halo halo Arroz caldo (similar to congee) was the unanimous favorite. Also liked the Ongpin cocktail, pancit and lumpia. Get the porridge!!! read more

So sad they ran out of pork sisig by the time we came in, but we were guided to other menu options. - Lechon Kawali, (3.5/5): the pork was very flavorful, but waaay too oily. There was a pool of oil at the bottom, and some pork pieces were hard and burnt - Chicken Adobo, (3/5): favorite part was the quail eggs, tiny but full of flavor. this adobo was not surprisingly sour or vinegary. It was very soy sauce heavy, and reminded me of a Chinese braised dish - Garlic rice, (4/5): pretty standard, the portion size is quite small though. This was probably the best thing we ordered.. I've been to a couple of other Filipino restaurants. This one had some standard offerings, and is convenient especially if you're already in Chinatown. read more

Recently NYC was hit by a severe thunderstorm. A friend of mine was caught in the rain and the kind folks at Binondo welcomed her and her friend in to get out of the rain. While they waited they gave them a table and offered a couple complimentary appetizers. It was a very kind gesture that my friend wanted to reward by a full fledged visit for lunch, and so I was recruited to experience Binondo by Kabisera for myself! The block of Chinatown is not exactly known for high end looking restaurants, but in recent years it has made some strides with the huge renovation of Golden Unicorn and the addition of this place. The interior is very modern and beautiful with some solid Asian aesthetic touches such as pagoda-inspired structures over the air vents mounted on the ceiling. The space is very welcoming and can probably seat about 20-30 people. Our waitress was very nice and let me sit down ahead of my friend's arrival (it was really hot out and I needed to get out of the sun). Once my friend showed up she took our order very quickly: Lettuce Wrap (Ground Chicken, house-made sauce, crispy rice noodles, iceberg lettuce, water chestnuts, mushroom & green onions) I'm not a huge lettuce wrap fan, but this was a good example. The ground chicken mix was tasty BUT the choice of lettuce leaves was not ideal. They were a bit small so it was tough to form a proper wrap. They needed to be larger romaine pieces. Lumpiang Shanghai (Deep-fried spring rolls filled w/ ground pork, carrots, scallions, seasoning & egg) These spring rolls were *addicting*. Don't expect only 4 pieces, the dish comes with a bunch of bite sized rolls and they are the perfect size to chomp down and immediately reach for another. I highly recommend getting this as an appetizer! Vegetarian Fried Rice (Wok fried rice with egg & variety of mixed vegetables) Nothing exotic here, but that was kind of the idea. We ordered other dishes that were very savory so we wanted something to balance that flavor out. This fried rice acted as a nice canvas for our other dishes and it was tasty in its own way. We also had a dish that featured pork with crispy skin. The thing is, it was a substitute when we tried to order something else that wasn't available, so I'm not quite sure which dish it was exactly. Nothing on the menu matches it exactly, but all you need to know is that the pork was absolutely delicious. Perfectly seasoned and the skin had a wonderful crisp to it. The meat was also crisp on the outside but still tender on the inside. I was really impressed. I wanted to give this review five stars, but I had to take one star away for service. It was NOT the fault of our waitress. The problem is that they were super understaffed (and that was not her fault). The poor waitress had to take care of the entire restaurant by herself so we were kind of neglected for most of the meal (no water refills etc.). Despite what I just said above, I would happily go back to Binondo by Kabisera for another meal! read more

Food 4.5/5 Drinks 3.75/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 Delicious Filipino food in Chinatown Every bite was packed with flavor and thoughtfully executed. The appetizers and mains were definitely the stars of the meal. The drinks, however, leaned a bit too sweet and tasted somewhat like artificial juice Sisig Bites - 5/5 Loved both the chicken and pork versions, though the pork had a bit more depth of flavor and was my favorite of the two. Sisig - 4.5/5 Super flavorful and satisfying. The texture was a little on the mushier side, but the taste more than made up for it Squid Ink Noodles - 4.75/5 Absolutely delicious. The tang from the lemon was the perfect addition and really brought the dish together. Oxtail Kare Kare - 4.75/5 The oxtail was incredibly tender and fell right off the bone. The rich, creamy sauce was delicious Lumpia Shanghai - 4.5/5 Very flavorful and meaty. I would have loved a little more crispiness on the exterior, but they were still excellent. Halo Halo - 3.75/5 The portion was huge! I can see why many people would love it, but it wasn't quite for me read more

Chef Agee (sp?) Is amazing. Her staff and restaurant is simply amazing. We came to celebrate a good friend. And got to talk to the chef owner and learning of her dreams coming to fruition. And now seeing that her hard work paid off. Located in the outskirts of Chinatown. Using the name binondo as the Chinatown in the Philippines- representing similar flavors with elevation. The shumai was un suspecting good. The pancit had the perfect balance of salt. The lechon had a perfect crisp to their fry. The chicken was flavorful on the outside and moist inside on a sizzlig plate. The negra rice was like a squid ink paella minus the large platter. The flavor was all there. What wasn't in the photos was the tinola soup. On a cold rainy day that was perfect. And to top off the entire meal was the champarado dessert. And OMG that was sarapness. read more

Listen to the Filipinos in the chat; this place is the real deal. I am a different type of southeast Asian but the Filipinos I dined here sung the praises of the amazing flavors coming out of this kitchen. Appetizers, main courses, and dessert were all presented beautifully, were generously portioned, and had full depth of flavor that had us scraping up every last bite on our plates. They started us with a delicious complimentary egg drop soup which was extra savory and topped with what tasted like high quality sesame oil. We followed that with chicken sisig bites and lumpia shanghai. We had the pancit negra, chicken adobo, crispy kare kare, and a beef dish but I have to say the standout was the Paksiw sa gata. It was a white fish gently poached and topped with a savory, buttery, and lemony sauce. The dish let the sweetness of the fish shine on its own without too much heavy handed seasoning. Our meal was paced really nicely and ended with the corn bibingka and flan desserts. Some restaurants are better at dessert, others are better with appetizers. I truly cannot say that Binondo has a strongest section because every aspect of this meal was excellent. Our group was surprised and a bit sad to see they were completely empty on the Wednesday night we visited. While we were happy to have the full attention of our server and chef as the only diners there, we really want to see this wonderful restaurant succeed. They deserve much more business, so please check them out! read more

Came on a freezing Sunday for lunch at 1pm and were seated right away for two people. We got: Shrimp Pancit Bihon- shrimp was overcooked. I would pass on this since the main dishes comes with rice Pork Sisig- classic, can't go wrong. Comes out on a sizzling plate. Pairs well with the rice Paksiw sa Gata (steam fish w/ vinegar & coconut)- presentation was beautiful and the most unique in terms of flavor I guess since it's an open kitchen concept, the heat gets swept up by the cooking ventilation (?) but it was quite cold in the restaurant like once the food was served it already felt lukewarm. We asked the server if the heat could he turned up and he kindly said he would check. It did feel warmer towards the end, but our food was already cold. Service was attentive given the one front of house staff. Happy to have tried this neighborhood spot, but nothing really stood out to me to warrant my return. read more

Although I'm not certain how long they've been open, it appears the staff is a bit overwhelmed managing fewer than ten tables. The lengthy wait for food and needing to flag down the server for the check affected my experience; otherwise, my review might have been more favorable. BB read more

Finding reservations for groups of 10+ can sometimes be difficult in NYC, but not at Binondo! We were looking for a place to host a large friend reunion, and preferablly not be tied to putting a credit card down to reserve. We found Binondo and took the risk. I'm so glad that we did, because this could not have been a more perfect spot! Located in the heart of Chinatown, they serve delicious Filipino food. While I'm not too familiar with Filipino cusine, I can thorougly say I enjoyed every bite! Our group decided to do family style so we opted for multipe orders of the Chicken Adobo, Bok Choy, Pork Sisig, Canton Guisado, and Vegetarian Fried Rice. Egg Drop Soup (complimentary)- unique and different from your typical egg drop soup, but very soothing and comforting. The Chicken Adobo- soft, tender, and included quail eggs! Bok Choy- tasted fresh with small garlic bits and umami from the oyster sauce. Pork Sisig- fun interactive appetizer cooked tableside. Canton Guisado- bouncy noodle dish packed with flavor. We got this with the pork belly which was melting in our mouths! Vegetarian Fried Rice- standard fried rice, but perfect compliment to any meal. Binondo also has a full bar, so I got the Ongpin- which tasted like an ube pina colado. Honestly, while the food was incredible, I was just blown away with this drink. I would come back again and again just to have this one drink. Overall, 5/5 experienice, especially for large group dinners at an affordable price! read more

Stopped by Binondo by Kabisera for a weekend dinner and had a good time overall. Service was mixed but food/flavors were solid! Started off with the lumpia which was fried freshly but pretty standard in terms of flavor. The pancit negra featured chewy rice noodles and liked how the octopus sauce was present but not overpowering or too wet. The crispy pork was chunky with a good crunch! The sisig was well seasoned; I enjoyed the balance of savory, tang, spice, and aromatics! Although I prefer my sauces to be on the thicker side, the oxtail kare kare was solid. The peanut flavors were present but not too strong. The oxtail pieces were all very tender; meat came right off the bone. Veggies were appropriately cooked. We finished off our meal with their halo halo. It resembled other more traditional versions I've had and offered the sweet, coconut-y, ube-forward flavors I enjoyed. I especially liked the addition of young coconut pieces and the flan! The restaurant was spacious and agree with other Yelpers that this place is good for big parties! Staff were friendly and nice, but a little awkward and clumsy. read more

This place has been on my list since it opened. I finally went today. Enjoyed a calamansi cocktail " Quiapo" which made me remember my wedding cocktail, also made of calamansi. I was pleasantly surprised with a bowl of egg drop soup while waiting for my main course. I ate chicken inasal with garlic rice. Everything was great but I didn't taste the garlic in the rice. The rice to ulam ratio could have been improved but I love rice as just needed a few bites more. Overall, with the Manila sound music in the background it was a great meal. Binondo by Kabisera - Filipino Near Me - New York, New York

Hard to believe that after growing up in New York, this was my first time dining in a Filipino cuisine restaurant. Conveniently located on East Broadway in Chinatown, this place is fairly new. Our server was patient and very efficient. He brought us the soup and appetizers that were to be included at no extra charge as we were still looking at the menu to yet to order. I liked the seasoned anchovies, crispy. The soup was pumpkin based with a subtle taste and the petite bowl was gratis. I like that we were treated to cold lime infused water as we were seated. The sausage on rice had a hint of sweetness, not a bad thing. It was very good on sticky garlic rice. My favorite was the crispy pig on vermacelli. Really tender, unlike any I have had before. Crispy is the word. All in all we were glad to have something different from the usual Chinese and Vietnamese fare. The interior was sleek and "Smooth Operator" playing over the loudspeaker. read more

Binondo is a fusion between Filipino and Chinese cuisine. It's a mix that I've never had before! They gave a complimentary soup that tasted very similar to egg drop soup. As appetizers I got their rock shrimp and I really enjoyed this one! Pork Sisig is usually one of my favorite Filipino dishes, but i think that the fusion taste threw me off. All in all, I think I prefer traditional Filipino flavors more, but still glad to try this as it's still something I've never tried! read more

I can't tell you the names of each dish as we asked the chef to surprise us and what a tasty surprise it was! This was my first time at a Filipino restaurant. This is my favorite Filipino spot in the city that serves dishes I grew up with; literally the dishes my family would make on daily basis or for parties. My favorites here are the chicken tinola, beef kare kare, pancit negra, and turon. However, everything is amazing. Let's not forget the house apps that you get -- fried anchovies and small pandesal. Those are timeless snacks that you can find in any Filipino household, especially when there are guests coming over. I love the chicken tinola because its nostalgic for me, taking me back to days of being sick and being taken care of by my Lola or dad. Besides arroz caldo, this was in the kitchen. The beef kare kare is just a dish that makes me smile all the time. The subtle taste of peanut, the thick stew, the hint of bagoong (shrimp paste)... just perfection. Pancit is just our stir fried noodle that is light and hearty at the same time. It never gets old!!!! I never had it with pusit (squid) before trying it here... and now I'm hooked. Of course, I had to get my favorite dessert here which is TURON. Turon is my favorite Filipino dessert (caramelized plantains in a fried egg roll wrapper). Chef Augee and her team do such a great job with presentation, elevating Filipino cuisine to a fancier level, and yet still maintaining the tradition of our food and culture. read more

Went there with a friiend on a Friday for lunch. For appetizers we had thr Sisig Bites (pork) and the Mayon Volcano (shrimp). Both dishes had great flavor and my friend and I both enjoyed them. For the entree we shared the Lechon Kawali (pork belly), it comes with white rice, a sauce and a topping. All the dishes tasted great and would order them again. I would give the food 4 stars and 3 stars for the service for an overall rating of 3.5 stars. There is only 1 server who also acts as the bartender. With just only 2 other customers, service was slower than expected, with several more customers it would be painfully slow. However, they may have more servers during dinner hours. read more

Great place for Chinese Filipino food! Got the pancit and chicken inasal to share with a friend. The pancit is definitely one of the best pancits I've had. Great noodle texture and very flavorful. Binondo, which is Manila's own Chinatown, is a Filipino-Chinese eatery that had recently opened. We've come here for lunch, and was recently brought here by friends while visiting - reservations were made in advance, and we were seated promptly once we arrived. We started off with: +the Lumpiang Shanghai - deep-fried spring rolls filled with ground pork, carrots, scallions, seasoning, and egg +Shumai - steamed chicken dumplings, served with housemade sauce; you can also opt for the pork version; comes with 4 pieces +Sisig Bites - reverse seared pork belly, onions, and chilies, seasoned with mayo, soy sauce, and lime; comes with 2 pieces +Mayon Volcano - fried shrimp dressed in a spicy mayo dressing +Spicy Green Beans - stir-fried with garlic and chili paste Note that everyone receives a complimentary 'panimula' - this consists of egg drop soup, an in-house baked bread, toasted peanuts, and sweet chili dilis. For our mains, we ordered: +the Beef Salpicao - cubed beef flank with garlic, oyster sauce, butter, and mushrooms +Chili Butter Shrimp - fried seasoned marinated shrimp sauteed in butter +Kare-Kare Beef - stew with a thick peanut sauce, eggplants, string beans, and bok choy +Lechon Kawali - fried pork belly, served with a housemade liver sauce +and, the Paksiw Sa Gata - steamed hamour fish with vinegar and coconut Overall, the food was just okay - the concept seemed interesting, but the flavors were missed. Portions were generous and easily shareable within our larger party. Service was friendly, and the space is modern-like, with an open kitchen. +reservations accepted +friendly service read more

Slowest service ever. The place wasn't even crowded, but everything took forever, even tap water. A nasty "cocktail" called Manila Sunset, that tasted like fruit punch with no alcohol took 50 minutes. We sat down at 6:30, got our appetizer an hour later and main dish 1:40 minutes later. One of our guests was Filipino, so there was no language barrier, but they kept dismissing us: "it's being prepared", then when we asked again it turns out the waiter didn't even have our order! Instead of saying they didn't have a bartender, they said nothing aside from "drinks are coming soon", almost an hour for OJ, bottled juice and a shot of booze. The one item that we got in "only" an hour was good, the lettuce wrap. I left before my food arrived, the experience put me out of the mood, my friends stayed, some got their food, some didn't. Not very organized. They did serve an egg drop soup that tasted good, although lukewarm. Maybe they were short-staffed and having a very bad day. read more
