Easy to miss this place from the outside. It's fairly newer to the area as well (a year and change) and there's pretty limited seating inside. I came with a friend for dinner around 8pm- there's only 1 person working the floor and it seemed understaffed. When we entered, we stood by the entrance inside for a good 7 minutes before we were acknowledged and then seated at a table that was open the entire time. Throughout the dinner, service was pretty slow. They might need to figure that part out better. As for the food, we ordered the norimen wings, donkatsu, jjimdak, and the sweet potato crungji. I love chicken wings so I definitely had to order it. It comes with 5 slightly crispy wings, seasoned lightly- but more on the bland side. Would be nice to come with an optional dip or seasoned more. The donkatsu was okay, pretty standard pork cutlet with sauce- we would have preferred the gravy be on the side though so we could customize it to our own liking instead of it being drenched and eventually soggy. The jjimdak was definitely the star of the show- it's a braised chicken with vegetables, glass noodles, and rice cakes in a soy garlic sauce. This one was very very flavorful! My friend can't take spice though and it ended up being too spicy for her since they do actually cook it with red spicy peppers (not bell peppers). She couldn't eat more than a handful of bites. I enjoyed the very slight kick, as someone who likes spice. But just fyi since they don't advertise it as a spicy dish, for those who can't handle spice. Lastly, we went with the sweet potato crungji for dessert. It came almost as advertised- it didn't come with berries or yuzu zest on top. We were hoping for some fruit to end, but were disappointed when it didn't come with any fruit when they advertised seasonal fruit on the menu. We did ask the waitress and she ended up saying, "oh we just changed the menu. It doesn't come with fruit." I feel like if they changed it, they should give us the changed menu because it was disappointing bc we specifically ordered it with fruit because we wanted fruit! Haha I know, such a silly thing to be upset about but that's what we wanted at the time. Overall, I'm not sure if I'd come back. If I do, it probably won't be for a while, to give them time to work things out so we might have a better experience next time. read more

Disappointing experience despite the hype. The restaurant is very small, which is understandable given the area. While the staff is friendly, the service is lacking. No one came over to clear our plates even when they were full of bones and scraps. I had to finish almost my entire glass of water before the waiter finally refilled it (though he did it twice at the very end). The waitress didn't bother to help at all and was just sitting there looking at her phone multiple times. The food was also a letdown. The side dishes came out at the same time as the mains instead of while we were waiting, and the kitchen was slow. Moogoong Blossom (7/10): A bit sweet, but the flavor wasn't bad. Seasonal Salad (9/10): Refreshing and easily the best dish of the night. Norimen Wings (5/10): Only 5 pieces, served on a medium-sized plate that made the portion look sad. They were dry and lacked any sauce. It tasted like regular fried chicken rather than Korean fried chicken. It was crispy, but nothing more. Shrimp Gochujang Pasta (8/10): Good flavor. I didn't find it spicy, though my friends did. Jjimdak (1/10): A very big portion, but way too sweet and salty. I also didn't like how the chicken and wings were cooked in this dish either. Stopped by this spot serving casual Korean food for a cozy weekend lunch. The menu isn't huge but definitely has some comforting and familiar dishes. Started off with their pajeon which featured fresh shrimp pieces. I loved how it was crispy without being overly fried. The ratio of batter to ingredients was also appropriate. For mains, the gim noodles were a highlight for me. It was very umami with the seaweed and mushroom flavors. Pasta was al dented and fried with enough "wok hei." The donkatsu curry rice was pretty standard. I thought the pork pieces were going to be better but nevertheless the ratio of curry to ingredients was pretty good. It came with a potato cream soup. The minimalistic space is perfect for a casual meal. Prices were solid. Staff were a little awkward but polite and smiley. I was honestly a little conflicted about the score that I wanted to give Norimen. I think I'm leaning more towards a 3.5 rather than a 3. I had lunch on a Saturday with my mom. The restaurant was empty, so we had our pick of seats. I should say that the waitress was very friendly and super nice. The menu has a few protein options and everything comes with 6 banchan. It was all very aesthetic and the presentation was fantastic. The actual flavors of the food though, was mid. The spicy pork that I ordered was not spicy at all. In fact, it was kind of flavorless. My mom's miso salmon was pretty basic. It's also kind of pricey. For the two of us, I think it was about $60, which feels like a lot for the neighborhood. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't run us this much if we had just gone uptown to Ktown. read more

Slow but that's fine if you aren't in a rush. Sad that you can't order anything else on their menu besides the lunch set during lunch hours was going to give this place a decent review. But after we left within 10-20 minutes of us finishing food. The four of us either got really gassy. 2/4 of us has diarrhea. The other 2 only had very bad gas. Loved the high ceilings and warm interior -- everything felt super thoughtful and well put together. Definitely a hidden gem!! Highly recommend the tofu yogurt appetizer -- one of the best apps I've had in a while! They said scoop sourdough chip with tofu yogurt . It's so savory and crispy!! And the crispy chicken pancake? So good and juicy and tender. We got roasted green tea pudding. They put crispy quinoa. That's awesome!! We walked in on a Wednesday night, around 7PM and were able to get a table for 2 very easily. We liked the decor. It's very minimalistic. We ordered the yangnyeom chicken, the crab croquettes, the spicy bibim noodles, the Bossam, and the roasted green tea pudding. The food tastes really good. I really liked the crab croquettes and the sauce for the yangnyeom chicken wasn't overpowering. The Bossam slices were also really big and the bibim noodles tasted good. The service was a little slow, but it could be because they were waiting for us to finish the appetizers before giving us the main entrees. I was hoping to eat the chicken with the noodles, but the noodles were great on its own. The roasted green tea pudding was standard. The portion size was really good for the price as well. My server was so beautiful and had a beautiful personality . If you ever go there ask for Antoinette. She is the light of norimen.
