It was cooked well, good balance of savory & spicy flavors from the kimchi and the sunnyside egg added more umami and creaminess. First of all, it's located on 33rd Ave. After a long day of work on Friday, I appreciated not having to go through the crowd in Ktown, although the hardcore partiers may feel otherwise. We went with an order of cheesy corn, a spiral potato each, and a medium order of boneless, Half and half. I thought it was strange that they specifically warned us that it would take some time to make it. I mean that's what I came for, some proper Korean Fried Chicken that's made to order! I'm torn on what is better at Turntable Chicken Jazz: the atmosphere or the chicken. Honestly it's a tie, with both being exceptional. The vibe and decor is 1950's jazz, and it's a perfect break from the outside world. They have a great beer and cocktail menu , so right there I'm all in. There are seats and communal tables by the bar, a dining room area, and then an additional room in the back, which I'd imagine would be perfect for a private event. The whole place is a throwback in the best possible way. Then there's the food, which can throw down against any other Korean chicken spot and come out on top. Prices were reasonable and, when we went on a Saturday, felt like a bit of a bargain compared to some of their neighbors. Service was prompt, friendly, and not overbearing. What's not to like? Last week I went to turntable chicken jazz with some of my colleagues for an after work, happy hour. The interior design of this place is phenomenal and really gives off a warm cozy vibe. The service was really good, we were brought to our table that we were reserved fairly quickly and we were able to get someone's attention without having to wait too long. Not sure what happened to Turntable.. years ago I felt like this was one of the top go to place for Korean wings and somehow this time around left me with a "meh" experience. This may have set the tone for me to go elsewhere for wings in this area. Soy garlic wings -3/5 - missing that soy garlic flavor. Don't know if they're skimping on the sauce or what's going on but it was alright Spicy wings - 3/5 - my initial thought after the first bite was "i don't remember these being salty". I love this place! I've been twice now and I can confidently say this spot will be in my restaurant rotation moving forward. The highlight is definitely the ambiance, the food coming in at a close second. It's really nice to be immersed in this place by the sounds of Jazz and the impeccable record collection on the walls. Very cool place. Great music and vibe which gets 5 stars for me. I think they have a DJ there some days. Metal chairs at the bar weren't that comfortable. Food was very good. Fun spot to hang with large groups - good for bigger parties / celebrations as a dinner before karaoke or going out in K-town. As you may guess from their name, chicken is their specialty, but even so it's only just decent and all the other food was a bit of a miss. My friend described the cheesy corn as "soapy" and the kimchi pancake as "stretchy", which we all felt were pretty accurate labels for both. For chicken, we got a combo with soy garlic and spicy, and the flavors were pretty similar. My spice tolerance is pretty low and even I felt the spicy was quite mild. Drinks however were pretty decent! We got peach bombs and lots of "soju cocktails" which were very similar to regular flavored soju. Do keep in mind that all the drinks feel very very weak, but they have a fun variety of options that are all quite tasty. We also saw others order this vessel with lots of smoke as we were leaving which looked like such a fun drink! The last time I came here was pre covid. I love their Korean fried chicken and the jazzy relaxed vibe with dim lighting. I wasn't planning to come back here but I was looking for a local spot with fried calamari and this happened to come up on grubhub. They make their calamari with powdered cheese on top and spicy mayo (I asked for mine in the side) and red (marinara?) sauce. I thought the portion size was great for the price. I had the calamari along with a side of white rice as my dinner. The calamari has a nice crispy how I like. However, the food was sorely lacking in salt. Even the red dipping sauce tasted like it had no salt in it. Once I added salt, this brought the dish to life and it tasted good.
