Maybe because I had high expectations and I've wanted to try this for awhile that I was but underwhelmed. Waiter came took our order, didn't write it down ( which is fine if your memory is great, repeated both our orders and was wrong both times. I was holding my breath about getting the right order. It's a small space, so it gets really tight. Came here during restaurant week got the sashimi, beef slider, pork belly, and pistachio gelato. The sashimi was ok, nothing mouthwatering or anything special. The beef slider is what I enjoyed the most, had a ton of flavor. Regretted getting the pork belly each piece was chewy and fatty and there were no wow flavors to it. I feel like they could have tried to offer a more inspiring dessert other than sorbet or gelato. Portion wise, after all that I felt like I snacked and could have ate real dinner. It's unfortunate that some restaurants don't use restaurant week to highlight their menu and get repeat customers.

I had dinner at Danji last week before a Broadway play and had a very good time. I was enjoying a glass of orange while struggling to decide what to eat (the downside of a solo dinner - you can't try as much from the menu) when my waiter suggested I go with their 7-Course "Danji's Greatest Hits" Tasting menu for $83. I love a tasting menu, so I said yes please. With the tasting menu, I got to try: Yellowtail "HWI" Sashimi (with gochujang vinaigrette salad); Crispy and Soft Tofu (with ginger scallion dressing); "KP" Spicy Chicken Wings (with creamy onion dip); a Bulgogi beef slider (beef, spicy cucumber, and scallion salsa on a milk bread bun); Bossam pork belly (pork, pickled mu radish wrap); soy poached sablefish with rice (Alaskan black cod and braised daikon radish); and black sesame ice cream. All the dishes were good, but the tasting menu was too much food! I hate wasting food, but it was too much to finish (the last two savory courses were paired down a bit from their "Large to Share" size but were still sizable for a tasting menu). The service was great, and Danji has great ambiance (it's cool but small and intimate and still very comfortable). I'd happily return.

The beau and I have wanted to try Danji for a while now. We decided to go during what turned out to be Restaurant Week which we normally ignore. However they had a great featured tasting menu that we both chose so we could taste multiple things between the two of us. The food is flavorful, bold, and some items are quite spicy! The atmosphere is warm and cozy allowing you to really settle in and enjoy the experience. The manager was wonderfully accommodating and kind, something you don't see so much these days, especially in a restaurant of this size. These guys definitely know what they are doing.

Small cozy restayrant that serves tapa styles Korean food. We were debating doing the 7 course tasting menu, but decided against it because we wanted to try to galbi dish which wasn't included. We opted for three large plates, the bossom, galbi Jim and kimchi fried rice. The bossom was well cooked, and served with thinly sliced radish and scallions/pickled dried radish to make a wrap. All the elements paired well together. The galbi was a nice chunky tender piece of meet in a sweet beef stew. The kimchi fried rice fell short and was a bit bland, and kind of pricey for what it was. Dishes were served individually to share, and probably had to be because the table was so small!

11.06.2025@8:25p Walk-in for 3. We didn't have reservation so we sat on the bar. Is a cute little place. The service was friendly, especially the bartender was great. It gets busy here and there and he still try to keep up with us even though we didn't order any drink. Also gave my hubby a compliment glass of liquor . I am very please with the foods we have order and we all love the dipping sauce for the wings. We clean out every bit and pieces of everything we have order tonight . Would go back and try the rest of the menu items when get a chance.

We got the greatest hits seven course menu Food: - yellow tennis sashimi was perfect, light and well balance -Soft tofu was a stand out. It was perfectly balanced between the crispiness on the outside and the soft texture on the inside and was packed with flavor. This is a must order. - Wings were good but average. Probably our least favorite dish. - Beef sliders were delicious and an interesting play on Bulgogi. Every bite was a perfect blend of flavors. - pork belly was perfectly cooked and well balanced with the Radish - sable fish: second favorite dish of the night, hearty and decadent. - blood orange sorbet was great, Matcha ice cream was OK Service was outstanding It's on the smaller side so reservations for more than four or a must Would definitely go back and try the other dishes

My friend had recommended for us to catch up at Danji over dinner as she wanted to finally try it after the unfortunate fire, so I was excited to have an opportunity to try another spot of the Korean dining scene in NYC! The space inside the restaurant is definitely tight, but the dim-lit atmosphere made it seem more cozy. I did appreciate that there were wall hooks to hang coats so I didn't have to worry about my puffer while eating. For our meal, my friend and I shared the crispy tofu, bulgogi sliders, and bossam. Starting with the tofu, I did love the juxtaposition between the crunchy exterior and the soft interior, but felt that there could have been more flavor or dressing. The bulgogi was great, but the star of the sandwich was the milk buns. As for the bossam, it was so tender and juicy and I was glad that there were radish wraps available to complement it. However, I had two issues with our experience. First, my friend and I felt really rushed at the end of our meal. The servers were attentive in that they removed plates, cleaned, and brought the next dish very promptly...but it was a little too immediate - as soon as we took our last bites, the servers whisked everything away. This was no problem until we had just finished the bossam and then right away, we were asked if we wanted anything else and when we said we were thinking about it, the waiter came back again in two minutes to ask again. This time, when we said no, the check was brought without us asking for it yet, and then we were checked in on again in a minute for our cards. I understand that speed and efficiency are important both for the quality of service and the running of the restaurant, but it was the manner in which all of this was done that really confused us. We had been sitting for less than an hour and were basically ushered out. I would've understood if we had been lingering for over 90 minutes (which I feel like is a standard allotment of time for a table), but this was not the case. This was disappointing as the point of going to a fine dining restaurant like this is to savor the food AND company of the meal. If we wanted to quickly eat and leave somewhere, we would have picked a fast food chain. We ended up having to search for a spot nearby to continue the last 20 minutes of our conversation and had a bad taste left in our mouths. My next issue was concerning the price and value of the meals. I understand that restaurants are entitled to setting their prices based on the hard work, ingredients, and finesse that goes into the dishes, and I respect the effort that it takes to produce a restaurant meal. I am also aware that at fine dining restaurants, there will be higher price tags on dishes that may be cheaper elsewhere. However, I felt that these dishes in particular were overpriced for the portion sizes and items that we received, and not worth the amount of money. This is my own personal opinion so please take it with a grain of salt, but for context, I am Korean and grew up cooking or going out to eat Korean food every day so this was my basis of judgment. I am not writing this amount of detail and opinion to purely bash on the restaurant, because I honestly thought the dinner was okay and I love to support Korean-run businesses and hope that Danji continues to do well. I just wanted to provide some details to show why this is a three-star rating for me and why I'm not pressed to return.

Fried tofu was delicious perfectly fried on the outside and soft on the inside. Would order again. The fish tasted familiar like mom's cooking in the best way. Bulgogi burgers were a little sweet for my taste but still yummy. Service was attentive.

Danji is a very quant, intimate spot for Korean food. I enjoyed the fried tofu and bibimbap without meat. I like that they feature which dishes can be gluten free or vegetarian options. This is a small space so seating is close. The service was excellent and attentive. The food was fresh and flavorful.

Do they have a private dinning room?

    No they do not.

    Is this restaurant wheelchair accessible?

I would say a wheel chair can get in and out. Street level. Moveable chairs in the dining area.

Is it okay to bring a child and do they offer high chairs?

I'm not sure officially but in my humble opinion, as a parent of a now 2 year old, no. The space is relatively small and half the tables are high tops. If it was family friendly I would probably dine there at least once a week!

Anyone know if they offer the tasting menu for lunch?

    I don't believe so.

This STICKS OUT. It is French, it offers a sunlit outdoor patio and rests on New York cobblestone. Only the finest. We ordered their 30 dollar happy hour wine selection (their choice of white, rose or red). We went for rose as it was only approaching cocktail hour. Ended up spending $60, do your own math! As for food, this was where I had a blonde moment. The French wordings of cheese or meat was simply something I haven't even seen in France. So what to do? Tell our server we love rich goudas, goat cheeses and manchego's; but stray from any blue cheese family member or associate. He brought an array of an assortment! Not because I am a model, but because I believe in proportion sizings, especially when it comes to the delicacies within the cheese world I aspire to be apart of. NO MORE BREAD PLEASE, I begged as I calm and swiftly maneuvered the slices into my concerned and judged mouth. We also enjoyed the escargot, 10/10. Get the escargot and wine babes xxx

After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. Did you know this is where the Beecher's used to be?! RIP, I miss their Mac n cheese.... the vibe is completely different now (think extravagant Mediterranean vibes, it's very instagram-mable with the beautiful bar area). I had made a reservation for 5:30 (again, life with a baby is very different)- we arrived early but the staff were very gracious and were able to get us seated. They seated us in a side alcove area where they had cushioned seating, which was very helpful. What we Ordered: Drinks: Barlume Spritz and Hibiscus Mule (N/A cocktail)- drinks were good, nothing too special but we appreciated the cute stirrers Appetizer: Halloumi- grilled halloumi with roasted eggplant puree. The saltiness of the halloumi went so well with the creaminess of the eggplant. (Baby liked the eggplant puree too hah) Entrees: Lobster Arrabiatta and Duck Ragu and Truffle Pizza. My husband got the lobster arrabiatta and was raving about how delicious it was. He said it was the perfect level of spice. My duck ragu was served with busiate (a corkscrew shaped pasta) which I thought 'trapped' the sauce perfectly so you get a nice saucy bite each time. Pasta was perfectly al dente- my one gripe is that I felt the duck ragu was a bit too salty, which even managed to overpower the tomato flavor. We shared the truffle pizza, which came topped off with stracciatella, porcini mushrooms and shaved truffles. I liked the porcini mushrooms on the pizza, this was a first for me. For dessert (which we had to gobble down quickly because baby was starting to get fussy) we got the pistachio cake. SAVE SPACE IN YOUR STOMACH FOR THIS ONE!!! This was my favorite in the whole meal, the kataifi gives it that wonderful crumbliness and it went soooo well with the mango sorbet that's served with it. I, not surprisingly, had to try the martini, which is the Fantasy Is A Necessary Ingredient (Dill Vodka, Sardinian Vermouth, Olive Oil). Despite not being a vodka person, vodka in dirty martinis is the one exception I will make from time to time, especially when there is a fun infusion that elevates the drink. I was extremely happy that, after ordering it, our server asked if I wanted it with a regular olive or feta-stuffed olive, as if there is really any deliberation that needs to happen there (read: feta-stuffed olives are a no-brainer). For the rest of the night I just got dirty martinis or espresso martinis which are both particularly excellent here. My partner tried the La Osa Albarino (Val do Salnes, Rias Biaxas, Spain) with our entrees which I also enjoyed. Food-wise, we got to sample a decent portion of the menu being a party of four, though we didn't order any of the bigger entrees (mostly because we could not justify the price). Everything was great and the only reason this isn't five stars is just because I reserve that for experiences where things are mind-blowing/super memorable and as they say, it is called the Hall of Fame not the Hall of the Very Good. In any case, it's hard to pick out a favorite dish because we really enjoyed everything, but that is a good sign for the rest of the menu should you want to order something we didn't try. Everything was an A or A+ in this meal so I'll skip the letter grades for this review. Eats, below: Norwegian Yellowtail Tartare w/ Ezme, Borage, Sumac Light, delicate, relatively straightforward as far as tartares go but the ezme adds a nice touch that's a nod to the Mediterranean. Gem Lettuce Salad w/ Dill, Scallion, Cucumber, Sesame-Anchovy Vinaigrette Super fresh and delicious, perhaps a little Caesar-esque but with far more intrigue. Sugar Kiss Melon w/ Stracciatella Di Buffala, Spicy Coppa, 25 Year Balsamic We actually decided to nix this at the last second when we realized we may have ordered a bit too much food but our lovely server brought it anyway (she really made the night for us). This could even be a dessert-type dish if you'd like, but certainly works among the savory courses too. Charred Spanish Octopus w/ Potato, Mint, Aged Sherry The octopus was beautifully cooked and presented, seasoned well, no notes on that. The potatoes were decent but less exciting than the rest of the dish imo. Roasted Dorade w/ Tamarind Glaze, Pomegranate, Jalapeño, Herb Salad Absolutely loved this dish. According to our server, it's on the opposite end of the spectrum from the branzino, which is a cleaner, simpler preparation (and the whole fish), while this is a total flavor bomb. While I do love branzino, I'm glad we opted for this at less than half of the price. And I'm pretty sure the last time the four us went out for dinner we ordered a full fish and I'm pretty sure it was branzino so here's to shaking things up. Rocky Mountain Lamb Chops w/ Black Garlic, Ras El Hanout, Mint Chermoula Despite not usually being a red meat person I really loved these. Incredibly juicy and flavorful, making a strong case for being priced as high as they are. Honey Spiced Carrots Don't sleep on sides! Often an afterthought but they deserve a seat at the table, and these were good evidence of this.
