I want to start off by saying our server, was fantastic. Located right off of 32nd so super walkable if you live close by. Bardo itself was clean and very nice, with clean bathrooms. Bar Dough is serving up some outstanding food and service. We decided to try their Garlic Bread and Meatballs as an appetizer and for dinner we ordered 2 pastas: Cappelletti and Bucatini Amatriciana. Garlic Bread: Buttery, tons of garlic, crisp but still soft in the middle with herbs sprinkled on top... sooo good Meatballs: The meat was tender and the tomato sauce was really flavorful. The leftover tomato sauce was great to dunk the garlic bread into. Cappelletti: This pasta was phenomenal. All their pasta is homemade and it is delicious. Cappelletti is very similar to tortellini. It was stuffed with ricotta and had these fresh english pea pods and pecorino cheese sprinkled on top. I wouldn't change anything about this dish, it was amazing. Bucatini Amatriciana: This dish was good, but nothing I'd come back for. The pasta was delicious and cooked al dente, just how I like it. There was so much tomato sauce that it ruined the dish. There was supposed to be fennel sausage, but was disappointed when there was very little of it. This entree is very similar to spaghetti bolognese which is never something I'd order when I'm at an upscale Italian restaurant that prides themselves in unique Pasta. Visited this place on a Saturday around 8pm and it was completely full, would highly recommend making a reservation beforehand. Not sure if it is intentional but the restaurant is really loud mostly from customers rather than music so be prepared to talk a bit loud with your friend. We started with the black truffle Colorado potatoes. It was delicious and a bit on the heavy size. Would be a good appetizer for two people but would be a greater sharing plate for group of three or four. For the main dishes we ordered the special "wild mushrooms risotto". A really good choice and was pleasantly surprised that the dish was lighter than anticipated. Our second main dish was the spicy clam. This is by far our favorite dish and is a must order if you are visiting this place. The pizza is a good portion with 8 pieces (or 4 large pieces). Again good plate to share rather than have it for your own. Finally for dessert we got the carrot cake doughnut "Zeppole". We were surprised that the portion was big! It came as four large balls of dough. They were just ok and though could use more cream filling inside. We also ordered a side of pistachio gelato. Again tasted ok and thought it could tasted more richer than it is. Overall a great place to visit specially for getting the most bang for your buck. We came here visiting Denver from Houston. Houston is known for its great food. Denver, not so much. This place is an exception. Everything we tried was amazing! Yes yes yes yes all the yes. We had the ciao pepe which tastes like a warm nap in a fluffy duvet and the seasonal pasta, the sachetti. That was my absolute favorite- it had all the right balance of flavors and textures. It was perfect. I ordered the paradiso to drink which may be one of the best cocktails I can remember in recent history... and then I couldn't resist and ordered the burrata. It was an absolute pleasure to dine at Chef Carrie Baird's unique creation! It is a small very busy restaurant located in a trendy area so I was very excited that they take reservations for small parties. We arrived a bit early and they sat us right away! The dining room is loud but has a warm and inviting atmosphere. The outside patio is a good choice if you are looking for a quiet place. The service was fantastic with lots of suggestions. The italian menu was small but had a great selection with a Colorado flare. We choose garlic bread, wood fired margherita, mafaldine (lamb bolognese), and dark chocolate custard for dessert. The pasta was divine! All ingredients tasted fresh and of high quality. The best part of our experience was meeting Chef Carrie herself! Drinks 5/5: excellent cocktails by a clearly seasoned bar staff, solid wine selection, can't go wrong here Food 5/5: pizza is fantastic, pasta is fantastic, every appetizer we've tried has been fantastic. They do gluten-free pizzas and pastas, and they're also, unsurprisingly, fantastic. Space 4/5: the space is lovely and intimate, which introduces some minor problems during pandemic as there is only so much space outside. During regular times though, this is a 5/5, lovely ambience. FINALLY got around to trying Bar Dough and despite some really mixed reviews on here, I have zero complaints to report! I made a Saturday night reservation to celebrate my husband's birthday and we were sat right away at one of the two-tops along the back wall. I had a direct view of the bar in front of me and the kitchen to my left and how beautiful they both are. I love the marble behind the bar and that tiled oven is spectacular! Our server was as professional as could be, keeping drinks filled, putting out the proper flatware before dishes arrived and doing it all with a friendly attitude. As for the food, it was AMAZING! We shared the Fancy Toast, Culurgiones and the Berkshire Saltimbocca Chop and it was all incredible. I thought I didn't like pork belly but that toast changed my mind and the culurgiones were potato-ricotta dumplings that were so decadent and served with mushrooms that I couldn't get enough of. That chop blew us away though! Perfectly breaded and crispy, plus the actual pork was so juicy. I had mentioned it being my husband's birthday when I made the reservation so our dessert was complimentary! We ordered the rotolo which was basically a sponge cake roll that I'd like to eat every day for the rest of my life, thank you. It was topped with a mascarpone ice cream, dried cherries and some kind of white chocolate sauce. We almost licked the plate clean, we loved it so much. So we are in a rush but wanted to try this place. I came in and asked the host how fast do food usually comes out. He looked at me as I'm an alien and said well you know, regular restaurant procedure. As if I don't understand how dining in works. We decided to sit outside, and the moment we turned around, yes, literally the moment we turned around. He made a LOUD comment to his colleague, saying this is the oddest question he'd ever had. What a way to welcome your customer! We ended up leaving because I don't wanna eat in a place where a host is so rude, to me this says plenty about how this place is ran. Just in case there are several hosts working here, I'm gonna indicate the time we came in, which is 11:20am, May 16, 2021. Funny thing, after I posted this review. I absolutely LOVE this place. We stumbled upon this restaurant while we were walking around the neighborhood and it was the best accidental discovery ever! Located in the Highland neighborhood on W. 32nd Avenue and Vallejo Street, this restaurant was modern and on the small side with great aesthetics and a nice lookin' bar. We arrived not knowing it was happy hour, lucky us, and sat at the bar. Hubby and I ordered: - HH Meatballs - Spicy Clam Pizza - HH Bar Dough Punch - HH Lemon Spritzes Fantastic cocktails and during happy hour, it was only $7 per drink. It was DEEEEEEELICIOUS and refreshing! Their pizza was the star. The Spicy Clam Pizza was flavorful, slightly spicy, and the dough had the perfect chew. It wasn't their happy hour pizza, but it was worth paying regular price for it. It's a must for clam lovers. Meatballs were also delicious, and we used our pizza crust to mop up the leftover yummy sauce. It was sublime! Service was friendly, and the food was fantastic. We came here with friends in town from Milwaukee, whose kids are HUGE Chef Carrie fans from Top Chef. I'm so glad they clued us in to this place, because I don't watch Top Chef and I had no idea that this restaurant existed. I know. I'm living under a rock, apparently. We came here for brunch and ordered up a storm. We had the doughnuts which managed to be both light and indulgent. Delicious citrus sweetness. I didn't try the garlic bread, but my normally picky eating daughter ate this and the doughnuts right up. We then ordered 2 pizzas, 4 of the signature avocado toasts, and the PB&J crunchy french toast. Everything was delicious. My avo toast had steelhead salmon and tons of fresh greens on it. I also got the garden cocktail with gin, aperol (it's quite the booze of the moment, isn't it?), apricot and something kind of fizzy? So refreshing. A perfect spring/summer drink. I love Bar Dough! I've been here for brunch and for dinner in both meals have been absolutely delicious. I also fell in love with Aperol Spritz when I went to Verona so the fact that their brunch has a bottomless one on the menu is fantastic. The pizzas are delicious and the dough is made to perfection. I especially love the cacio e pepe pasta. I'd have to say that the tartare was definitely too 5 for me as well. For brunch I had the soft scramble with the most delicious fluffy eggs! I would eat here over and over again. Only thing I'd suggest is an adjustment to the bottomless aperol spritz price. One mimosa is $8 but bottomless is $15, however, one aperol spritz is $9 but bottomless was $25. Seems a little strange and a bit too pricey. read more

Pricey but good so unless you have a fair amount of disposable income for dining out, then this is more a destination than a regular hangout. At the moment, they've got a ton of bubbles on the patio for guests. I've gone down the list in terms of their food menu and you really can't go wrong with all things pizza here. Small plates are also good if you want to mix it up. Just remember that pricing is elevated so it will add up quickly when it comes time to settle up. Service is solid. Oh this place was so phenomenal. We made reservations on a Sunday and I can't imagine coming here without reservations. Ever. It's a gorgeous gem with a tiny space in prime Highlands area. We were seated immediately at a small table in the back which made for quieter conversation but tiny little tables. We were fine but that was the only reason for a four star review v. Five star. The food and drink were amazing. The fancy toast could be paired with a drink for a meal - it was my favorite. We also tried the watermelon salad (interesting), Capellini with seafood and risotto Special. Y'all this food was incredible. My husband got a beer and Aperol Spritz and I got the Il Mio and glass of verdicchio (cross between a Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Perfect). Our waitress was unpretentious and attentive. Came in on a Sunday morning with a brunch reservation, there were many parties already seated and the hostess/ wait staff in general were clearly stressed. I fell in love with Carrie Baird on Top Chef Colorado, and I fell in love with Bar Dough the second the fancy toast hit the table. How on earth, do you pack that much goodness onto that mile high sourdough? I don't know but Carrie does. And god bless her for it. We started with cocktails, from a hot off of the press cocktail menu. Our server was helpful, despite our inability to make decisions because everything looked great! I had the il mio, which is vodka based with citrus and hibiscus. Nice flavor, not sweet which is my preference. Next up, our fancy toast featuring garlic pepitas sourdough bread with butternut squash, zucchini and sharp cheddar. It was incredible. Crispy exterior with a tender interior, covered in cheese, topped with veggies. Each bite was perfectly coated in oils and toppings that are frankly perplexing. How is this much flavor in this dish!! Next, the lil' gems salad which had interesting toppings such as pickled grapes, fennel and watermelon radish. The green goddess dressing was a great pairing. The black truffle Colorado potatoes didn't look as visually appealing as our other dishes, but they tasted amazing! And that's all that matters. The risotto with four local mushroom varieties was too good to pass up. Creamy with ever so slightly al dente rice, and beautiful earthy mushrooms singing through with flavor. We made a reservation for one of their greenhouses for our first time dining out since cold weather hit and am SO GLAD we did. The service was great and they've really done a wonderful job creating ambiance and making you feel safe. The greenhouses were decorated with lights, and inside were wreath decorations, a personal Bluetooth speaker, and a space heater. It was cold out the night we were there (around 10-15 degrees) and the space heater kept us plenty warm even without our jackets. The food was amazing and their nuovo casa drink with rye and clarified milk was one of the best I've had in a while. I've been super impressed by their creativity during this pandemic and hope they can continue to keep the ball rolling until things get back to normal. read more

My husband and I went to Bar Dough this past Thursday for date night and wow! Our waiter (whose name I am blanking on, but he had longer hair in a top bun) was the best server we've had in forever! He was so charismatic, attentive and passionate about Bar Dough. For appetizers we had arancini and the garlic bread, both amazing. I had the Gnocchi Alla Vodka and my husband had the Cacio E Pepe and it was rich and wonderful. The pastas are so fresh and delightful. The atmosphere is nice. We highly recommend, especially if you are lucky enough to get the server we had! We will be back! read more

My girlfriends and I came for Sunday brunch, as part of a destination bachelorette weekend. We were all coming from our of town and were really looking forward to this top-chef meal. Ultimately, we felt disappointed by what we got-- and surprised that our favorite dishes were quiere different from the server's recommendations! I'll describe below: Signore Bianca pizza: This cheesy pizza is amazing and I still think of it today because of how multi dimensional its flavors were, and how amazingly well they all came together. The different cheeses, olives, onion, leek, fennel... I couldn't really tell the leek from the onion (visually speaking), but it was REALLY GOOD. The spicy pizza: This is a fancy pepperoni pizza and you just can't go wrong with pepperoni. It's nothing special, but it's good. Buttermilk fried chicken: This was everyone's favorite dish and I am proud to say that I ordered it! The chicken was fried perfectly and so flavorful! Cacio e Pepe: This just tasted like regular pasta with some cheese and sauce. Not very impressive. Soft scrambled eggs: We were pretty disappointed by the blandness of this dish. Sunday sando: This dish had all of the elements that were promised, but they just never came together. Nutella toast: We had such high hopes for this dish, but it ended up being a mishmash of soft, mushy flavors. There wasn't much texture to enjoy, and even though you had sweet and savory in one bite, it was just boring and soft. All in all, I'd give 5 stars here just for the pizzas and the fried chicken! But the other dishes were so disappointing! And they were also the dishes that came highly recommended from our server! read more

This is a cool, amazing little place. We tasted many things on the menu (except pizza, which they are known for), and everything was excellent. We tried the woodfired bread, buffalo mozzarella, the Bucatini Amatriciana, Bolo Bianco (which was really surprising to us), Roasted Green Circle Chicken, Arugula salad, and a tuna appetizer not on the menu. I used to work with one of the cooks (Cook doesn't do justice to his talent), and he just sent us out dishes that he wanted us to try. And are we glad he did. I can't wait to come back here and try the pizza from what I saw it must be amazing. I didn't take any pictures, so all I have is this. And I want to add that the wait staff, and host were super nice and super helpful. It was a busy Friday night, and with all that everyone's going through in the hospitality industry, they couldn't have been nicer. There was no need for anything additional, not even salt and pepper. What a great experience! Not so candidly, I'm a big Top Chef fan, and Chef Carrie was one of my absolute favorite chefs in all seasons. I've been dying to get to her restaurant, and, so, to celebrate the almost birth of my 2nd child officially scheduled and coming up in 2 weeks on the birthday of my close friend here, this was the top of the list choice restaurant. From the service to the food to getting to actually meet Chef Carrie, we couldn't have had a better experience. The unpretentious, welcoming atmosphere is just what you'd hope and expect if you are a fan of the show. We started with the amazing garlic bread and mafaldine pasta (lamb bolognese). The garlic bread might have been the best I've ever had, which isn't surprising given Carrie's fancy toast history! The pasta was so delicious and perfectly cooked and seasoned. After, we went with the pizza Margarita. This was a basic pizza and not necessarily a show stopper, but we were also very full/ not ordering the most exciting thing. For dessert, we had a pistachio dark chocolate cake that was perfectly not too sweet and the right end to a wonderful meal. I'll definitely be back! read more

Ordered the Fungo pizza ($18) and the full size parpadelle ($26). The fungo pizza was about 2 inches larger than the diameter of the standard dinner plate, but definitely not enough to share. Toppings and cheese were sparse. Crust was a typical brick oven style, but tasted noticeably over burnt and not enjoyable. The parpadelle was so small that I was still hungry afterwards, which was disappointing for an almost $30 dish. The flavor of the pork was great and it was tender. The pasta was done al dente, but don't expect a saucey pasta (all the flavor came from the pork - there was no sauce). It was not easy to determine which place was Bar Dough due to the fact that the door was open and that is the only place the name is located. We waited a VERY long time to get water, drinks, to order, and for our food. Several times I had to get up and get things myself just so my food would not get cold. The food, once it finally arrived, was ok but nothing spectacular. The price was very high for what we got. The food was underwhelming and left much to be desired. For such a pricey plate of pasta and a $17 salad you'd expect at least slightly larger portions as well.
