Visited Ban Hua Sai early on a rainy Friday evening. Service was very friendly and fast! It was not very busy inside, but it seemed like a lot of people were ordering to-go! We had the Thai iced tea, crab wontons, panang curry with pork and crispy garlic chicken. All of it was delicious, but our favorites were the Thai tea and curry. It's definitely a nice neighborhood spot, can't wait to go back!

Small neighborhood Thai place that is my favorite in the Maple Leaf area. After a few visits, I can say that all of the dishes so far have been solid - flavors and seasonings are well-balanced, and the food looks and tastes very fresh. The crispy dumpling rolls are an interesting item - loved the chewiness from the wrapper and they were more substantial than the usual spring rolls. Both the pad see ew and Pad kee mao were well prepared and not burnt. The panang curry is our fave as the curry is rich yet not as heavy as some other places - some additional veggies help. Service is friendly and the prices are quite reasonable in a day where pad thai at many places can cost $20.

Been craving some aromatic Thai food on a rainy Monday night and wanted to check out Ban Hua Sai. Although the food had some delicious flavor, it still was a bit lackluster for our liking. My wife and I came in on a Monday night and it was pretty quiet inside. Got a table immediately, and I ordered: Chicken Pad Thai (a staple for me, sorry for being so "basic") Basil Fried Rice When the dishes arrived, my first thought was - that's it? The fried rice looked paltry and small, with small pieces of tofu scattered around. My wife doesn't each a lot, but she finished this dish in record time - and was still hungry afterwards. My chicken Pad Thai had great flavor and was your classic Pad Thai, so it scratched my urge and satiated my craving. But similar to the fried rice, it was definitely on the smaller end. And the noodles were so congealed too and stuck to each other - not a fan of that. Finally, there were very little nuts and I had no lime to squeeze, so it lacked that tangy acidity. Overall, decent spot. Service was fine, and the food tasted good. But we left still hungry and the portions were small. There's other Thai places in the nearby neighborhoods of Roosevelt and Wallingford, and we will be taking our business there.

They have locations both in Downtown Seattle and Greenlake, but I have only been to their Downtown Seattle location which has a beautiful view of the Puget Sound. The atmosphere is dark, trendy, and modern- perfect for a date night or nice evening out. While they are a white table cloth, sit-down restaurant, you can dress casually or dress up a bit - both are completely acceptable. This most recent visit I ordered the COCONUT PANANG CURRY with chicken ($25.95) and my friend ordered her favorite dish, SALMON GARLIC FRIED RICE ($28.95). On a past visit, I've had their CLAY POT SHRIMP & GLASS NOODLES (KOONG OB WOONSEN) ($27.95) which was absolutely fantastic and has had me hooked on Pad Woonsen ever since! I saw the COCONUT PANANG CURRY recently in my Instagram feed and knew I had to get it. It is served in a whole coconut (yes a real, fresh coconut!) and comes with a champagne flute of fresh coconut juice from the coconut they hollowed out and a side of Jasmine rice. The curry was rich, flavorful, and full of Thai basil and peppers. The coconut juice was light and refreshing and a great contrast to the thick curry. The SALMON GARLIC FRIED RICE (which I've sampled before), is gigantic, aromatic, and served with a giant grilled garlic butter fillet of salmon on top. The salmon is extremely moist, oily, and bursting with flavor. The rice is fragrant and has garlic paste, red bell pepper, carrots, and green onion. If you're looking for a tasty and protein-packed meal, this is the dish! Parking is honestly tough in this area as it's located on 1st. They have limited street parking and a few paid parking garage options around. I recommend light railing or Ubering here if you're not already in the downtown Seattle area. Service is always great and we always get our food quickly, no matter how crowded they are. The staff also take the time to check up on your table during your meal. Overall: 5/5 for food, 5/5 for service, 5/5 for atmosphere

When entering they had a live keyboardist and singer playing Valerie which I was a fan of. We stopped in at 10pm on a week night and were sat right away and service was prompt and friendly. We chose fried calamari for an appetizer which was super delicious. My boyfriend thought the sauce that came with the calamari was too spicy for his liking but for me it was super sweet and paired perfectly with the calamari. We enjoyed the appetizer thoroughly and I would say it was my favorite part of the meal. My man ordered his favorite Thai dish Panang chicken Curry spice level 1. He said his meal was delicious but big portion so we both took to go our leftovers. I tried the curry and it was super tasty. I ordered my go to prawns Pad Thai and chose spice level 3. The Pad Thai was delicious and large portion but level 3 was not spicy at all so if you love spicy like me choose above level 3. Not the best Pad Thai I've ever had being honest but still yummy especially for late night. Definitely a great late night choice with large portions!

My friend and I walked in at 9:20 (~40 mins before closing) and got a seat at the bar. They have happy hour from 9pm-close so we ordered the curry from the happy hour menu ($10), kra pao with an egg (~$20), and drinks (lychee martini $9, Thai-Tini $9). Such a great deal!! My favorite thing had to be the yellow curry, it was so creamy and had a nice kick. The kra pao was also very good, we picked spice 2 which was pretty hot but manageable. I would highly recommend making a reservation in advance, we got pretty lucky to get a walk in spot but the place was totally filled. A nice place for an upscale meal with a friend or a date!

Vibe - When I walked in, it felt like I was in a nighttime district on the streets of Thailand, eating and drinking whatever they had available. The vibe was that of a dark ambiance, with neon lights shining throughout the restaurant. Hospitality - The front-of-house staff was well-mannered and courteous, and they seated us quickly on a Monday night at 8:00 PM. It was a relatively busy night. However, we ordered fairly quickly, and the food came out within 10 to 15 minutes. Food - Food-wise, we ordered the Fried Papaya, Crispy Fried Rice, Khao Soi, Tom Yum, and Crispy Pork Belly Fried Rice. Gosh, I have to say, I was blown away by the flavors and the portion sizes! Typically, four dishes can serve three people, but I felt like these could have served five. The fried papaya salad was lightly battered with a typical papaya salad dipping sauce featuring a base of fish sauce, green beans, tomatoes, and chilies. It was good. The crispy fried rice was served with lettuce wraps, and OMG, I kid you not when I tell you this is some of the crispiest rice I've ever had. It's hard to find, but when you do, you can't wait to take another bite. I thought the khao soi overall was not bad. I enjoyed that they put the fried noodles on top so that you can mix them into the curry when it's brought out. Lastly, the pork belly was well-cooked with a crispy, crunchy exterior, and served with delicious Thai-flavored fried rice! Drinks - We ordered the Thai lemon iced tea and the Thai tea cremosa. Both tasted good. Overall, I was very satisfied with this place, and if I lived here, I could see myself grabbing some late-night bites with the homies.
