We got our food to go this past Tuesday :) we enjoyed their cashew chicken with no spice, and I had the chicken Phad Thai with ALL the spice, including a side of sriracha. Pretty standard, but they were still nice and crunchy upon arrival. Wish it had just a little more flavor/seasoning. Pumpkin Curry - overall not bad. A little sweet for my liking and wish it came with more pumpkin. I think there was only 4 chunks in the entire order. Sad face. Tom Kah Gai Soup - Expensive for the amount you get but the flavor was just so so! Opted to add shrimp...I think 2 made it into the dish. All in all not bad; not outstanding. How are you guys not giving 5 stars? What are you expectations here? From the initial call to ask a question to our good-byes, Thai Ocean was a wonderful evening. The woman who answered the phone made me feel that she would definitely love to have my small group dine at her restaurant. Upon entering later that evening she recognized me by my voice and made us feel as if she and the whole staff had been eagerly awaiting our arrival. We were seated toward the back near what appeared to be a table where staff ate -- kinda like Olive Garden's "When you're here, you're family" vibe. Quite impressively, at this table there were pepper bushes -- like uprooted pepper bushes with loads and loads of small red peppers. I was told they had just come back from eastern Washington and bought them and brought them back. So while we ate the delicious food a staff/family member pulled the peppers off the bushes for eventual use in the sauces. Everything met or exceeded expectations. As we placed our order of dishes to share we were advised that two of our dishes were very similar and were given a couple of options to consider. Nice. While there's nothing particularly unique or different about their food it was all prepared and presented well. The curries were right on, the fried food fried well, the vegetables fresh and crispy. The portions are normal size, the prices reasonable, and the welcoming environment appreciated. Seems like a great neighborhood restaurant; might even describe it as family friendly. We're regulars at this restaurant. We ordered pick up this time for Beef Panang curry. When we got home and started eating, we were given chicken instead of beef. This has happened to us thrice before (while dining in and pick up) and we had let it go. There is a $2 price difference btw beef and chicken. This time, we decided to call them. Their response was "ok do you want to come back". No apologies, but the woman on the other end sounded annoyed that we called. We went back the next day, and they didn't seem happy. They mocked us for coming back for "$2". Another staff member looked at us and commented "this is interesting ". NO APOLOGIES! Instead we were mocked. Not going back. This is unacceptable behaviour. I love this place. I'll eat here once a week (lunch specials are very affordable and delicious). The staff is kind, the patio is comfy, and there's always parking - also extremely walkable and bike able. Near green lake so it's a fun area to explore before or after lunch or dinner. Try it out. I love this place. I have not had a bad meal from this place. The white wine is chilled, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. I suppose the ambiance inside could be improved but not due a lack of effort. This Thai place doesn't really have much of rice selection, it was missing the main Thai basil fried rice that I was craving! They only have 2 fried rice dishes. I tried their curry with the tilapia, it was good but wish they actually gave more sauce. The food was serve in a plate instead of a deep dish or a long/wide bowl. It's pretty weird that so far that I tried 2 Thai places none of them serve their curry in a more deeper dish. We also got pak kee mok with beef and beef salad. The Thai flavors were there but the beef was a little rough. The fresh rolls was good with the peanut sauce. The service was kind of slow on a Friday dinner when I didn't see much customer. I ordered the broccoli and beef and i no joke got a giant plate of broccoli and cabbage and about 5 slices of beef. It had an alright flavor. But disappointed in the amount of bang for your buck.
