This is a local to Magnolia spot. It looks like they do a lot of takeout orders. And yes, someone said they'll mess them up and that did happen to me. If I weren't allergic to coconut I wouldn't have bothered to bring it back. The food was really good and I do recommend it for an easy weeknight or weekend grab. The pricing is on par with Seattle Thai food and the portions are healthy. The inside of the restaurant seems cute, not overly done and not anything fancy. In magnolia is a Thai food restaurant that has been a neighborhood staple for years. The interior is comfortable but could use a freshening up, but the staff are welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious and the sticky rice with mango and the black sticky rice with coconut milk amazing!! The servings are generous, and they clearly do a lot of takeout business. We've been going to this little place for years now, as we live in the Magnolia neighborhood. It has been consistently good. The restaurant itself is cozy, not terribly big. We've gotten it more as takeout. Their Swimming Rama is excellent, chicken satay also excellent. Their Panang curry is good, but I've had better elsewhere. If you get takeout, I recommend double checking your order before you leave the restaurant, as we have had a couple of issues with things being left out. They are pretty busy, so if you can order ahead, all the better. If you just walk in & order, you may have to wait a bit. It's street parking, but pretty easy to find. read more

I have no idea why Kinnaree has 3 stars. Maybe they had a harder time during the pandemic (not my experience) but their food & service is wonderful now. Their food is always on point - flavorful, fresh, and delicious. I usually get the Tom yum soup with a side of bean thread noodles and it is so good. I've had the pad Thai, pad see ew, and papaya salad and those are super yummy, as well. And the people that work there are so nice!! Pink, who usually answers the phone, is the sweetest! The only thing I got was an order of Fresh Rolls- and I got them to take out- They were a little dry- probably because they were pre-made and not "fresh". The reason I know they were not fresh- I had literally just ordered them and I literally took a seat after paying for them and the woman had already bagged them in a take-out bag ready to go for me in less than 2 minutes. The taste was ok the texture was just a hair dry but the sauce that they put with them is pretty tasty. Used to love this place; great phad thai. Ordered 3 orders tonight; two one star, one two star . Noodles were mushy, overcooked, no difference between 1 and 2 star. No pepper flakes, just white mushy noodles; all three dishes looked identical . Had to add sweet chili sauce to give it any flavor. Yikes! It was the worst Thai food I've had from the east to west coast (I'm nearing 50) It looked like other people's leftovers. Three dishes were: dry/too salty/lifeless/overcooked, lacked essence of any true Thai flavors. I think I've had better frozen meals from grocery stores. Unsure how one thinks they have the ability/talent to open up a restaurant and take up real estate with such garbage. My suggestion is to find a different cook, redo the menu and also to visit other Thai restaurants to know what it takes to give the community real Thai food. Kinnaree Thai is your regular, standard thai restaurant that I'm sure you've eaten at before - Its not bad, its not remarkable, but you will get a generous portion of decent thai food. Not sure why only a 3 star. This is a solid place for Thai food. We've been there a half dozen times or so and always had good food. Very good pad thai and curry dishes. The crab rangoons are average, not enough crab, just tastes like cream cheese... but are homemade wrapped. The only consistent negative to the place is I don't like that the chefs never seem to have their masks on fully, or sometimes not at all. I should have suspected something when we arrived without a single patron sitting in the dining area. Maybe a foreshadowing that the food would cause me to spend some quality time atop my porcelain throne later in the evening? Everything tasted fine and dandy - from the spring rolls, to the swimming rama - but I stated the former passage only because both myself and the lady got a bit sick to our stomach afterwards. Maybe the particular dish we ordered just didn't agree with our digestive systems, or maybe God himself was spiting me for cutting of that slow driver on 520 moments earlier. Either way, the atmosphere/décor/service/pricing were all fantastic. The food even tasted good, just didn't sit well. I have Thai food about once a week so I feel I have a decent baseline to judge what qualifies as good vs. not so good Thai, at least as it compares to all the other choices in the city, and this is definitely, without a doubt, hands down, the worst Thai food I've ever had. If you live on the Island (Magnolia) as I do, this place is your only near by option for Thai, so you might feel compelled to dine here out of convenience, but after the meal I just had I can assure you driving a few extra miles to one of the other dozen or so Thai options available is time/miles well worth spending, that is unless you love a stomach-turning spicy-hot rendition of Hamburger Helper - if this is you're idea of good Thai food, then you'll love this place. I am giving an extra star because of convenience and a few times I have dined in have been 4 star. I have had the phad thai and showering rama. The ingredients are good but nothing to write home about. One thing is they get your food out pretty dang fast making it good for a quick lunch. There is definately better Thai places in this city. Their service is so slow every time I dine in. Food is always cooked at the same speed, just the rest of the service is slow. This place was the epitome of 'okay.' I ordered a beef curry, honestly can't remember which one. It was okay. Super heavy on zucchini. We're talking like 60% zucchini -- truly unheard of zucchini levels. I asked for 5 star spicy...I said I liked 'really spicy' and made knowing eye-contact with the waiter. Of course it wasn't anywhere close to spicy. I think 5 stars just means one extra shake of crushed red pepper into the curry. Still, not bad. I wouldn't discourage anyone from going here, but I think if you look at the the people waiting outside of El Ranchon, the full tables at Ichiro and then see that this place is ALWAYS empty that might be a pretty good indication of where it sits in the Magnolia restaurant pecking order. Hard to review a place after only eating there once. That being said, I'm sure my wife and I will go back again and try other dishes. and if we are wowed next time, I may raise the star rating, but for now, this is what I'm going on. We were both hopeful, but sadly we were both a bit underwhelmed. We are curry freaks and that's typically all we order, and we love it. So when we found out there was a Thai place near us, we were pretty stoked. I always get red curry, and my wife always goes for the green curry. Mine was pretty bland and lackluster. I actually had to ask for table salt to see if I could spike up the flavor a bit. It was as if they were mixing it with water or something to spread it out and make it more cost effective. As it turns out, their prices are very reasonable, but then, maybe this is the reason. Ya get what ya pay for. The egg rolls were fresh and very good, and the waitress was very nice and accommodating. The portions were a bit on the small side though, and the curry dishes don't come with rice--which is really the only way to eat it. So you have to order a side of rice and it's only about a quarter cup (and for a big guy like me, doesn't do the trick). Make no mistake, we are not finished with this place. I feel there is potential there and, well, we don't really have much of a choice considering our location. A lot of people on here are spot on when they say "it's not the best, but certainly not the worst". For the price, really not too bad. That's really all I can say! read more

It fulfills the craving if you're in the neighborhood and the service was pretty nice. Given that it's in Magnolia, the price is going to be high. The pad thai was $7.75 and in very small portions. My friend ordered the spicy beef noodle and spring roll. The portions were decent. Though I'm not sure what the prices were. All three dishes were decent. Really nothing special about it. Given the price and portions, I probably won't be coming back. read more

Believe it or not, Kinnaree serves authentic Thai food. The flavors of the dishes is what you would get from a street vendor in Bangkok (which is a *good* thing). Dine-in service is friendly and take-out is prompt, even without phoning ahead. Contrary to an earlier review, I find it remarkably consistent. The one thing which keeps me from dining here more often is the price. Maybe it's a reflection of this part of the city (Magnolia), but menu items seem to cost 15-20% more than what could be had elsewhere. My daughter and I have gone here several times during COVID, always take out. They are not open for indoor dining. The first two times we went, we thought the food was delicious, very flavorful and fast. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience here last week and need to share it. My husband and I went to pick up takeout from here. I told him how much our daughter enjoyed it so he wanted to try it. He is vegetarian. We ordered two dishes, beef pad see ew and tofu pad see ew with extra broccoli. It was ready in ten minutes which is great. We started to leave the restaurant and noticed that one of the dishes had beef AND tofu and the other one just had beef. He does not eat meat so we had to go back. I went up to the window to explain that they had gotten the order wrong and the lady apologized and took the dish back to correct it. In the meantime, he was growing impatient as we were both on our lunch break and said to forget it, he would just go without. I continued to tell the lady, we would just take it as is. This is the part that went sideways. It turned out that they had literally picked out the beef of the dish and added tofu... during COVID or really any other time in order to be hygenic and to follow CDC guidlines, you should not be adding to food that has already left the restaurant... AND if someone is vegetarian, why would you think removing the beef would make a difference??? I am still in shock by the multiple health code violations and completely lack of understanding of vegetarian food. Crazy thing is after that, he returned and decided to try and order again. When he got to the window, there was no one there so he said hello. The cook walked out and asked him what he wanted and said he needed to be patient. THERE IS NO ONE IN THE RESTAURANT... THEY ARE CLOSED FOR INDOOR DINING. There were literally only two people working inside. We will not be returning for many reasons. Sanitation, terrible customer service, complete misunderstanding of vegetarian food, not following guidlines... just to name a few. read more
