The wife and I found this place a few years ago when looking for a breakfast place on the way to Comic Con is SF. So we would infrequently stop at Baji's when in the area. Well the first quarter of 2017, we were on our way north and decided to stop in once again. Funny, as we get older, our memory seems to fade away. I remembered large portions, great service and very good food. It would appear that one out of three aint bad. First. We stop in on a Sunday morning. Second. It wasn't busy. Went right in and got a table. Service has always been good to great. That hasn't changed. Server was polite (a bit of a kiss-ass) and right there when it counted. Coffee, water and tea were always well tended. The food delivered and plates cleared with ease. The food was disappointing. The wife ordered linguisa and scrambled eggs. If you look at the attached picture closely, you will notice that the linguisa was carefully cut into quarters to make it appear larger. In fact, it was just 1/3 of a Silva Sausage link. Very deceptive. A mediocre portion of has browns and scrambled eggs. The eggs were dry and hard. The hash browns luke warm. I ordered huevos rancheros. The plate was mostly beans, about 1/3 of the plate. A smattering of country potatoes and small portion of eggs. Although there was a lot of sauce, HAHAHAHAHA. Food and service was great! However, when I sat myself down I noticed a man sit in a section that wasn't opened with another woman and what I can only assume was his mother. I just thought to myself this guy must be special. It didn't seem like the staff was equipped and ready for him to seat himself during that busy morning. This man spent his entire breakfast disrespecting his own mother. It was utterly unacceptable. The lack of respect for the elderly was actually abhorrent. I decided to disregard this man's poor conduct and eat my meal with my family. Upon finishing his meal this man walks over to the (teenage) front of house staff and berates them for over 10 minutes. From what I gathered this man was upset that the table in the CLOSED SECTION wasn't ready for him. He went as far as to walk the poor busy children to the section to show them what they "missed." Maybe because he was yelling at his mother so loudly his whole breakfast he didn't notice these kids busting their butts going around the restaurant. After this man's completely unnecessary tirade I went over to console these clearly distraught teenage servers. I asked if that wonderful man owns this place or something. They sighed and said yes he's Baji himself. I was gearing up to tell them that they just have to be on it and that's the way it is. If he owns it then he owns it ya know? Come to find out that man is the EX owner and hasn't owned the place for years. I just moved to the area and I won't be taking my daughter to a place where a man is likely to come in and show her a horrific example of what it means to be a friendly neighbor. First and foremost, their customer service is top notch. Everyone was so genuinely friendly and the service was so prompt. This is a cute breakfast/lunch spot. Fast and tasty. I got the steak ranchera and it was delicious. The highlight of the meal was my boyfriends Baji's shake...he liked it so much he had to order a second one. Ordered the chicken fried steak and Baji's breakfast with Linguica sausage. Food was okay. Average. It came out lukewarm, chicken wasn't crispy, neither were the potatoes. Linguica sausage was eh. Mediocre food. Our poor waiter was handling about 70% of the tables and was constantly on his feet. He was trying his absolute best, however, to deliver the best service he could. We ordered a coffee, but the cup came with a lipstick stain. We really enjoyed our lunch at Bajis! My wife had the cheesesteak and this has set the standard on her future cheesesteak orders. She really enjoyed the fact that it had no peppers. It was very meaty and savory. I had the chilaquiles. It was so good that I had to tell my Mexican mother that this was probably the best chilaquiles I ever had. Also, the fries were freshly cut and the taste was different than frozen fries. We will be coming back for sure for our future brunch and lunches. What made this experience even better is that the staff and owners were very friendly. Everyone seemed to get along and you can tell in the way they serve guests. TLDR: Only (good) diner in Mountain View? I'm talking about a good old-fashioned American diner... This seems to be the only decent place in Mountain View. It doesn't look it, but it's surprisingly roomy. They have an outdoor covered patio for overflow as well. The food isn't too bad, typical diner fare. We've been here twice, and both times, while it doesn't blow our socks off, it's not bad either. First time, I ordered the breakfast burrito, and this latest time, I had the chicken and waffle. The waffle wasn't crunchy, which I normally like. The chicken was cooked unevenly. Surprisingly the breast was cooked well, while the drumstick was pretty dry. But the skin is crunchy and flavorful. My wife had the kielbasa, which she enjoyed very much. The sourdough toast is thick and crunchy which is great. The hasbrowns aren't flavored much however, although there is a crunch. The service is pretty friendly, and the place is clean, although the decor is a bit dated. There are a bunch of TVs with sports on, which I appreciate. Both times, I was able to find parking... there's plenty of it. If you're ever in Mountain View or live there, give it a shot! read more

I think this place is a no frills diner that promises brunch in all its volume and options. On my Sunday morning visit, a look around verifies huge platters with the classic combination of eggs, potatoes, toast. They certainly don't hold back on them. The staff didn't slack. The waiter with water and coffee refills must have passed by 5 times in my visit. Food comes up quick and hot. The menu is extensive in its permutations if American classics. I myself got an egg burrito. It's a bit on the small side--think like a fat hot pocket but it does a good job packaging large, hearty bites of savory scramble. I'll come back hungry. read more

Overall I like this place, mostly I like the deco and nice staff. The staff here will remember you and some of your tastes. Parking: there is onsite parking so it's very convenient. Wait: normally no wait whether on weekdays or weekends. Food: they have a lot of food choices for breakfast and lunch. But the food served is above average and no surprise. I came here three times. The second last time I ordered a NY steak with poached eggs. The steak I ordered rare but found I cannot actually chew it so I cannot say how is it. The poached is good. The last time I ordered eggs scrambled with ground beef, chorizo, and jack cheese.. The chorizo is just chopped not grounded, so it doesn't blend well with the eggs. I have got eggs omelette in Squeeze In which grounds the chorizo so it really blends in well. Also my eggs are over cooked so they started to separated with each other and looks dry. Next time I probably need to ask for fluffy eggs. Another things to note is they don't have whipped butter for spread. Of course you can use regular butter but it doesn't melt as good as whipped one on your warm toast, steak, or eggs. Coffee: I love their coffee. I am lactose intolerant so I asked for heavy cream instead of half and half. What surprised me is that they don't have heavy cream, which I think is a basic for every kitchen.:-(. So I managed to drink the coffee straight, and found the decaf tastes so good! It doesn't taste as bland as other decaf coffee. Cheers! I woke up at 6:45 to bike 2 miles in 30-degree weather to get to the JCC where I was supposed to spend the day doing community service. (and be fed some bagels.) When I got there, they told me I'd have to bike over to a whole different location, and that there was no bagels, and that it was their mistake. I was windblown and cold and hungry and I needed to service the community known as my stomach. So I went to Baji's, and it was wonderful. I had some tea-- they give you the whole little array and you pick your bag, then they give you a kettle they keep refilling, and some lemon. No honey, but hey. Just get a sweet breakfast. If you get there early enough (before 9? maybe 10?) you can get a special combo breakfast for $5. My fiance got their waffles and eggs (along with a side of hashbrowns-- generous portions!), I got their (2) pancakes and eggs-- but subbed in banana pancakes instead of buttermilk for an extra $1.75 charge. Hohmygosh. I have high standards for breakfast, and I was coconuts for those banana pancakes. The bananas were sort of mushed up with the batter, making them softer and sweeter and almost creamy and absolutely wonderful. The poached eggs were done perfectly, and served in a little bowl so the runny yolks wouldn't contaminate my syrup-drenched cakes. The decor is simple, it almost feels like a truck stop. The syrup comes in a plastic condiment dispenser, and the waiters walk around in store merchandise, complete with logo'd caps. If you are looking for a little spot to make your own, Bajis is the place. My wife and I have been coming here almost every Sunday, at a minimum, for the last twenty or so months (I know I didnt check in every time...bad YELPER!!!). I get the Eggs Benedict sub turkey with an English muffin (love the butter and crunchiness) or the sourdough. The wife gets the charleston way with egg whites and subs the hashbrowns for rye toast(12g carbs per slice people). We usually dont get her additional side of toast unless I am hungry. Remodeled!!!!! They listened to the customers and fixed the old decor EVERYONE!!! Great job to Baji, Manny, Omar, Sam, Mike, and the gang. New booths, tables, tv's, and they have online ordering at www.Bajis.com. They still have a diner feel but not a grimmy feel so it is getting more business than ever. Mmm solid brunch place in the Bay! I've always had trouble finding good brunch near me, and then this unexpected little place showed up! What a gem. It's on a random location on MIddlefield but the waiters and the food are fantastic. My friend and I ordered a vanilla milkshake, arnold palmer, biscuits with gravy, fried chicken and waffles, and blueberry pancakes. The food was delish and the portions were insanely large. The milkshake comes in a super long glass, the pancakes are light, fluffy, and delicious, and the biscuits and gravy go great with the fried chicken. All in all, the food definitely hit the spot. The waitstaff is also super nice. My friend and I hung out there for almost three hours and they checked up on us, offered us water, and were really polite and not pushy at all. And they were almost half way done... We asked a few times about our foods. He said he will check and come back to us, never came back to let us know. My sweetie and I were seated outside but it was chilly even though there were little heat lamps out. They took us inside no problem. We both ordered the country fried steak. Neither of us like to share :P It also comes with your choice of eggs and bread. I had it with eggs sunny side up and sourdough. The dish came out there were 4 slices of bread on my plate. Color me unimpressed. The beverages were all that we liked! The vanilla milkshake was really good, as was the coffee. The service started out wonderful, but fizzled out. The atmosphere is like a fairly nice truck stop. The fries looked cooked on the outside, but were mostly uncooked on the inside. We couldn't eat them. The grilled cheese sandwich was acceptable. The deviled egg sandwich was wrongly named. The eggs weren't deviled, only hard-boiled (no spice, no seasoning, no flavor = no deviled!) and soaked in a sea of mayo so deep I had to take apart the bread and scrape off pieces of egg. This was a hassle and I just gave up. The potato salad was also quite bland. I was so annoyed with the egg-hunting expedition through the heaping amount of mayonnaise that I didn't feel like ordering anything else. No one asked us how we liked our food and we didn't complain. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, but we left hungry and disappointed. The server who took our order was very friendly, but disappeared after our food was brought out. The place was fairly busy but not packed. I don't believe they were understaffed. To be generous, I could say that we'd go back for only beverages, but wouldn't trust the food again. The staff were nicely accommodating of my vegetarian tastes in making a hash brown dish for me that didn't have meat and instead had lots of veggies. We found this place on yelp because we wanted to go somewhere different for brunch on the weekend. This little place will surprise you, the food is pretty good and the service here is excellent. There was no wait even though the restaurant had plenty of people dining indoors as well as on their outdoor patio. I got the Cafe Skillet ($9.75): ham, tomatoes, onion, mushrooms, cheddar cheese and potatoes with two eggs sunny side up. It also came with two slices of toast. All was very tasty and I liked how it wasn't too oily and how the potatoes were crispy, but not burned to a crisp. Our server checked on us from time to time in case we needed anything, and happily answered our questions about menu items. Food, service, and value are all great here, so we'll be back again soon for brunch! read more

Good place to stop by during your lunch break at work. =) I'm right next to this place a couple days out of the week. And by the looks of the menu, I'll never starve! The menu is HUGE. And features practically every made to order diner goodie and then some. And with, of course, diner friendly prices! =D I have only tried their burgers and sandwiches. They are definitely not for the faint hearted. The burgers (except for the salmon burger) is oozing with good cheesy and oily goodness. =) Good flavor and HUGE portions! If you're into sausage, give their linguica sandwich a try. And you can even get garlic fries as a side ($1 extra for those)! The service here is great. Yes, you don't necessary get a lot of gourmet options like some other places; but it has delicious old fashion brunch items. Service is great (everyone is always friendly with a smile). And there are TVs EVERYWHERE - so you don't have to worry about missing a game. Once we were there on a Saturday late morning/early afternoon, the TV was showing the college basketball games. We asked if we could switch the channel to watch the 49ers playoff- and they granted our wish! :P I love their pancakes and french toast. They are so delicious that I always finish the whole plate. The omettle though, I just think they were ok from my experience. They had great sandwich too! My husband usually gets the steak sandwich and he loved it. Usually I'd Yelp a place, but since I was literally googling a diner while I was driving, I went with the closest one, which happened to be Baji's. The food was your typical diner fare, except it was diner fare cooked to PERFECTION. I am seriously picky about (among many other things) my hollandaise sauce, and let me tell you, theirs did not disappoint. You don't get monstrous portions here....they don't need that gimmick to make you want to come back. The food was good, satisfying and fresh. You know their orange juice is freshly squeezed too....none of that bottled or concentrate nonsense. Trust me, order a glass. Make it a large. You will not regret it. The eggs benedict was on point, and my moms blueberry pancakes were so good we ate them without syrup! If I give the food five stars, I would have to give the service ten. Everyone who served us was polite and courteous. Even the guy who just came by to take our plates was super nice and friendly. We had to comment on this so we asked for the manager and Baji himself came out to talk to us. We had quite a pleasant conversation and my mom and I kept raving to him about his employees and the food. I just realized that I am way overdue on spreading a little positivity across Yelp, so I figured I would give an update on my favorite brunch spot in my hometown. Bajis is just always good. Honestly, I have not been disappointed even once. Bajis is just a consistently wonderful place to eat. The staff genuinely care about their customers. The food is always hot and fresh. The restaurant is always clean and well maintained. I love the fact that every single time my family and I visit the restaurant, the waiters (and a very, very sweet cook in the back) give us a great big smile and a wave. This place just feels like family to me :) Last time I visited, I had over indulged the night before. I enjoyed two perfectly poached eggs, toast, and half of a grapefruit. It was delicious. When I feel like splurging, I love the club sandwich and their perfectly crispy, fresh hot fries. I also love the cobb salad, which is filling enough to feed me for two meals. Gluten free side note: this place serves some of the most delicious gluten free bread I have ever tasted! I highly suggest coming in on the earlier side on the weekends, as it gets crazy busy around noon. But its always worth the wait! read more

The coffee was so sub-par I complained and they replaced it with another cup of the putrid non drinkable java.. This turned me off for breakfast at a place that can't get coffee right. An interesting diner just on Old Middlefield in Mountain View. I needed to grab a bite to eat before my interview and after my long trek from the airport. I was happy to see it buzzing with activity as I walked in and seated myself at an empty booth with all my stuff. A waiter promptly came up to me and provided me with a glass of water and asked me if I'd like anything else to drink. I was pretty tempted to get a mimosa but I figured I should be sober for my interview so I went with coffee and a glass of orange juice. Another waiter came by and took my order. I'd say around fifteen minutes and my food was ready. I decided to order the chef's special breakfast quesadilla. Basically the chef put anything he wanted into the quesadilla; needless to say I was up for a little adventure. It was pretty tasty. A solid experience.
