Food and service was terrible. And way overpriced. Not even worth 1 star. Go to red lobster instead.

The food is good - nothing spectacular but we like it because it is casual and the service is good

Three of us just had lunch at Babylon Fish and Clam. Ordered the Steamers for a starter and must say they were excellent. Shared the fried clam dinner with my wife and also enjoyed that. Our friend had the crab cake lunch and was very pleased. This restaurant is a true Long Island fish house offering fine fresh seafood , casual atmosphere and great service. read more

You would think a seafood restaurant on the docks of the South Shore, that has existed for quite a long time,?would, at least taste fresh and be cooked properly. Instead what we got were plain dishes that were overpriced, dried out, lacking in flavor and imagination. There was no seafood cooking skill involved in the preparation of this "food." The generic sounding "seafood chowder" had a weird flavor. Nothing tasted as if there was a chef involved. The breading on the calamari was heavy and uninspired, the teeny bay scallops, were over cooked and dry. If I wanted poorly prepared seafood, I could have gone to Red Lobster, and enjoyed it MORE for LESS! read more

The food was Good and the servers were very nice. Unfortunately ownership decided to charge a 3.5% surcharge for using a credit card. This is ridiculous and I wrote that on my receipt. Credit cards were invented for the dining industry (Diners Club was the very first credit card). To charge someone a surcharge for using one is just not right. Don't pass your food increases onto your best customers who pay with credit. Just raise your prices. This is like a voluntary tax. Everyone has a right to run their business the way they want to but not everyone is a businessman. They lost thousands of my dollars to get an additional 3 of them. I'll never go back and I told them that. read more

Years ago this place was good. Now, its just been completely horrible. The food and service are terrible. They charged my credit card 3 times more than the bill and its just not worth ever going back. read more

Basic straight forward menu that is executed perfectly. Service was extremely efficient and attentive. Server was very professional and extremely knowledgeable and he made sure our meal was served at a very high level of skill. Food was delicious, service was perfect and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. read more

Mediocre seafood at high prices. Not the meal I was hoping for. No cherry stone clans. Any great clam place would have cherry stones for those of us that don't have an interest in paying for bite sized seafood. read more

We wanted to sample a few local things. Waitress was friendly, and great explaining everything. We started with yummy coconut spritzer and clams casino and baked chopped clams. Then seafood chowder and fried clam appetizer and fried flounder with cole slaw. Everything was fresh and good. Very casual atmosphere near the dock. Too full to eat anything else!! read more

Overpriced!!! Really?!?! Portions are small and expensive.. Not to mention the fried seafood wasn't good. Service was good, but doesn't make up for the food or prices! read more

New england clam chowder was $12 small amd sucked. I counted 7 small clams. It was basically potatoes in sausage gravy that tasted like chicken broth. Look into serving pregresso or campbells soup. read more

Like most people have mentioned, this restaurant is in a fab location by the water. Casual outdoor seating makes it a great place to sit in nice weather. That being said, the food is eh. The lobster bisque and new england clam chowder are pretty delicious, but besides that, there's really nothing outstanding on the menu. Your typical fried seafood choices, with some other casual options. All in all, if you're looking for somewhere to sit outside and enjoy the COMPANY you're with, but don't have many food expectations, this offers a good location. read more

One of my favorite places on earth! Amazing clams casino, broiled flounder with crabmeat my #1. Raw bar is super fresh and the Bloody Mary is a must on Sunday Morning. Garnished with shrimp, the house mix and fresh veggies it's one of my favorite bloodies around. read more

My sister, brother-in-law, boyfriend and I spent the entire day on Robert Moses. All day we were talking about how nice beers and clams on the half shell sounded. We packed up and started searching places in the area and this place showed up. It was exactly what we were looking for. The place looked pretty packed, but we were able to get a table for four outside on the patio. We started with an order of fried calamari, an order of the cold and an order of the hot sea food appetizer platters. It was delicious! For dinner, my sister and I both had the crab cake sandwich with French fries. The crab cakes were perfect! I'm craving them now just writing about it. The guys both had the stuffed flounder and loved it. Our waitress was very sweet and even brought out cake with a candle for my sister's birthday. There was a live band inside that played happy birthday for her too! Great place! I can't wait to return after our next beach trip. Friendly staff, yummy food, great spot on the water! read more

Wishing a stones throw of the bay, Babylon Fish & Clam looks like a cute, small eatery when you roll up. We had a quick 3 appetizer meal - crab cakes, shrimp, and calamari. No complaints on the calamari, the crab cakes and shrimp came in small portions given the price point and quality. Walked away still feeling a bit hungry and like the meal was over priced for what I received. Friendly wait staff and cute surrounding area. I probably won't be back. read more

While the waitstaff was friendly and helpful, the food was lackluster. We've tried a lot of clam shacks around long island, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. But, the food here doesn't really hold up. This is really embodied in the fried seafood. The plain cornmeal breading is overheavy and very under seasoned. While the best clam shacks have an ultra crispy batter, here it comes out bland and bready. The seafood itself is equally bland. The oysters were small and unflavorful. Clams only came as strips - no whole belly option was available anywhere on the menu, which leads one to think they aren't shucking them fresh, which is a shame this close to the beach. read more

Worst seafood I think I've ever had at a restaurant. That says a lot. However, for $18 bottles of wine and a beautiful outdoor seating area, I give this restaurant 2 stars. The appetizers were fried, and yes I understand fried means breading, but literally the clam strips were strips of fried dough. Had they labeled them "fried dough" I would have been satisfied. My friend's clam chowder was so gelatinous it made me a little sick just looking at it. He quoted his Hungarian grandmother with her frequent phrase "it is from the can." I had a broiled combination platter of scallops, shrimp and flounder. The scallops were the tiny bay scallops you buy frozen at the grocery store for $3.99 a lb. The flounder was massively overcooked and lost all tenderness it once may have had. And the real kicker - they didn't properly devein all the shrimp! Gross. All I wanted was a nice little bit of seafood after a day at the beach on a rare day off. If you are looking for the same thing...avoid this place. read more

Ok won't waste your time ..giving you the skinny in 5 sentences or less: Food - Awful, Prices - Inflated Location - Awesome, which is a shame, because this place is the complete opposite. Wait staff- [Pinches bridge of nose] ok let's pause here for a second. Our waitress was great, and i actually felt sorry for her that she had to work there. The staff seemed on the verge of a mutiny from the micro managing and what seemed like 'on the job' training they were experiencing at the hands of the guy in charge. The disdain for the treatment they were receiving was clearly audible and made my dining experience uncomfortable. If you are on a crash diet go here, you will not eat!!!! I know I said 5 sentences or less, but it just really irks when someone messes up seafood especially when the place is by the damn water. WTH!!! Restaurateurs looking for a place to open an awesome restaurant, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, buy this place and make it great. UPDATE: I have to give credit where credit is due. Then Manhattan Clam Chowder was boss! read more

Gawd, I hate to do the 2 stars because it's not so terrible but it's not cheap so it makes it not so worth it. Perhaps a few apps and drinks; sit and enjoy the fresh seaside air. I came for dinner. The spicy shrimp apps was super spicy and hot. I liked that. The Fried calamari was just okay . Stuffed flounder w/ crab was a touch overcooked and bland. The servers are fast and friendly. As weird as this sounds for a 2 star review It's worth experiencing this area of Babylon. Fish and Clam is not a good value and not worth going out of your way for. read more

Their fried clam strips brought this place from 2 star to 3 star for me. Otherwise, the mussels were mediocre - lacking in wine, garlic or lemon flavoring as listed on the menu. The crab cakes were okay, but seemed to be full of more batter than crab. Service was attentive though! read more

went there for sea food Good Friday , more specifically I was looking for whole fish. They claimed to have a whole trout. Meal was blend and tasteless. My husband ordered what he thought was a seafood platter that was supposed to have scallops, shrimp and flounder. OMG the scallops where miniscule ones, 3 to 4 medium shrimps and a piece of flounder. His meal was also blend. Now this place has a fish market on the premises which is why we went thinking they would have fresh and good tasting sea food. Well they had the large sea scallops in the fish market but not our plate. we had no appetizes. Portions were small even though we would not want more of food because it did not taste good anyway. So these 2 poorly prepared meals and 2 glasses of substandard Cabernets cost $90. Waste of money. I love seafood but not lousy seafood. I would not return nor recommend this place. read more

This is my FAVORITE seafood restaraunt!!!!! I have been here many times with my BFF and my fiance and now it's their Fav too. The owner walks around and greets people, very kind man. The waiters and waitresses are very attentive and the food.... is the best part! I've tried many different dishes and not one wasn't delicious; Clams casino, oysters on a half shell, seafood fra diavlo, bay scallops, tuna steak, stuffed flounder and the martinis are awesome too!!! I kinda don't want to say how great this place is because it's never terribly busy, it's like a hidden gem I want to keep to myself. However, I don't want them to go out of business since I know how hard these businesses are trying to keep above water these days. Go support it, this place will not disappoint in the food and drink department! read more

Without a doubt, the worst clam and fish restaurant closest to any body of water. The marinara tasted like Ragu, The New England clam chowder was out of a can. Huge fail!!! Never again...This place was awful! Yelp, Google here I come...No way anyone should dine here. read more

I always like to preface my reviews with anything that might alter the experience you, the reader, might have. That said, we were recommended this place by a friend of the owner and were told we would be "taken care of". This did not however include a discount of any sort or the promise of anything, including a favorable review. That said, this place is very nice. Its just off the water and has a very laid-back, non-stuffy ambiance. The waitstaff is friendly (feel free to discard), and they handled our special requests brilliantly. If I could make some food recommendations, I love the salmon or tuna with Cajun seasoning and veggies on the side. The portion is excellent and quite filling. The other dish I've had there was the shrimp and scallops with vodka sauce - delicious. On the downside, the seafood bisque was underwhelming. Too much bisque not enough seafood . The owner is a nice guy, and personally assisted the waitress in bringing us our food. If there's a dish you don't like, he seemed eager to remove it and present something else, which is what we did with the bisque. read more

Party of 5 waste of time and money go this place , order margarita mango flavor, no mango .. i did order cajun tuna , they add the cajun on one side of the fish this means no love to the fish my IN LAWS didn't appreciate the food and drinks . never go back . everything its over price for what they're serving . lets serve more quality food and driver , on the end of the day customer pay for everything. read more

Went here solely based on an oyster recommendation after a day at the beach. If you want standard basics with oysters like a bed of ice look elsewhere. Oysters arrived in a puddle from melting ice. That's it. No mignonette or lemon or anything else. Not even a small fork. The oysters also looked a day or two past their prime. Would not recommend. read more

I ordered grilled salmon rare to go but it came back drier than paper! It wasn't seasoned and the vegetables this time around were only tolerable. The seafood bisque tasted like something canned with some fish thrown in. This place needs to be consistent! read more

I love Babylon fish and clam! I grew up local and have been coming here since I was a kid. Going back as an adult it's a more enjoyable experience. The seafood is great and fresh, I've never had a poor dish. The service is good and most servers are attentive, warm and friendly. I love being able to dine outside which you don't get the opportunity to do very often. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars are the prices. You definitely pay for the fresh food-be willing to drop close to $100 for two people. You'll enjoy it, though! read more

Nice owner. Would love to give them a great review. That being said, dressing comes in a plastic tin, steamers were weak and sandy. Veggies that came with the Fish were soggy and clearly no attention was paid to how to cook them. Tired place and the food reflects it. Empty tables all over. Good location and could've great but too late. read more

Great outdoor seating. Most of the food is great. Loved the Blackened Salmon and the Soft Shell Crab is always great. Not so happy with the soups but who wants soup in the summer anyway. Love the atmosphere and it's a 2 minute walk from my house so that's a plus. :) read more

Service was very good and thats about it. I dont think anything we ordered was homemade. Ordered Gumbo and New England Clam Chowder, Campbells soup in the Microwave is better and HOTTER!!! I got the Crab cakes definitely frozen and basically all they were was breadcrumbs. I cant remember the price but it was ridiculous for what you get. Never again would I go back there. Food was awful!!! Not sure how you can be a seafood spot and serve BJS frozen quality type stuff and try to serve 30 per entree. read more

The waiter seemed friendly enough but had little knowledge of the restaurant or the dishes. The dining room was small but quaint and nicely decorated with a nautical feel. As for the meal - $22 for stuffed flounder. No bread on the table, no salad just a small portion of flounder with fries. The flounder was tasteless and the bottom was cold. The stuffing just ok. My husband had the blackened flounder which was very good and his dish came with salad and baked potato. Nothing spectacular for the price. May go back for lunch to give it another try. It could be a nice place if they gave you a little more for your money. read more

We used to eat there often we ate there today had the steamers in butter and garlic. It smelt like adobo seasoning. If you say butter and garlic then make it with it.It was horrible and the clams casino were just adequite. I wouldnt go back. Sorry to leave such a bad review. Soups were good read more

Sorry - but 2 stars. For what you charge I would have expected more. Food took over 45 minutes. Forgot cocktail. Then brought wrong brand of spirit. Water poured in soda glasses. Lobster really over cooked and fries under and cold. Sorry. For spending $250 not worth going back. Lots of other seafood places to go to on LI. read more

Had a great meal for Father's Day. Food was hot portions are plentiful and prices are decent. Can't wait to go back!

Enough is enough! I have gone to this place once or twice a summer for years. Probably since the 1990s. It has been my go to place for raw clams when I'm in western Suffolk county. A perfect place to go on the way back from Robert Moses Beach or a day of fishing off of Captree. Conceptually it is great. You sit on a porch (usually) under an umbrella and you drink cold beer and eat raw clams on a sunny day. Kind of like Pete's Clam Bar east. NOT! The place has become an abusive rip off and my visit there on Saturday was the last straw. $17 for a dozen raw clams?! Not oysters. Clams! I ordered an entree of sea scallops. The waitress (Vallary, who by the way may be the nicest waitress EVER!) asked if I wanted fries with that. They had sweet potato fries and I said, "sure." Well, my entree was about 6 scallops on a plate, neat! Nothing else. The tab was $28 for the 6 scallops and $1.50 for the fries. C'mon!! At that price there should be some veggies and/or a free side salad and the starch is part of the deal. I brought my kids for this meal, two tall male teens. Each had an entree and we all three had a dozen clams each. I had 1 cocktail. Total tab: $155!!! This place is fiscally abusive!! One son ordered off of the specials menu $31 for the sword fish with crab sauce. It was a small triangular chunk of over cooked sword fish with a sort of compote of onions, peppers and a small amount (perhaps a tablespoon) of lump crab meat in a cup. In good conscience I can't go back here. Also just to make clear the quality of the outdoor setting: The sunny porch is in a parking lot, facing a parking lot with cars pulling up to within 18" of your table separated only by a wooden hitching post style railing. You are outdoors but you have no view of anything you want to see. read more

Well I didn't get food poisoning. So that's good. Shall I list the ways this place sucked: 1. We were a table for 6. They told us 20 minutes. We waited at least an hour. 2. Management seemed frantic. 3. Uncomfortably awkward waitress. But we honestly all felt bad for her. To be explained later. 4. Overpriced. $6 for a side salad that's made of romaine, 1 tomato wedge, and 2 slices of cucumber. Can u throw in a carrot? CHEAP as hell. 5. Their balsamic vinaigrette dressing is just balsamic. Don't order it or be warned that you will cough up your cheap salad. One friend didn't even eat his and another friend was choking. 6. LONG wait for our food. 7. EXTRA LONG wait for *drum roll please*...a diet coke. My friend ordered a coke at the beginning of our order and she didn't get it until after dinner!! A few bites away from finishing her dinner, she asked the waitress for her diet coke again. After 10 minutes, the waitress came back and said she had no more cups. No more cups?!?! So use a mug or a to go cup?! Or tell us earlier on that you couldn't give us a diet coke instead of an hour later. The waitress eventually came back with a to go cup of diet coke. But the diet coke was flat and watery. 8. Our waitress was kind enough to apologize at the end of our dinner but then we heard stories about how the kitchen was backed up and how everyone was yelling at her: kitchen, management, customers. Poor thing. Sounds like this restaurant is a mess. Not sure if this was an off night for service. Food was average but not worth the prices, coupled with the awful service, I don't recommend this place. If you want a soda, bring your own cup. read more

Went to Babylon Fish & Clam for lunch yesterday. It was a beautiful 85 degree day & wanted to be somewhere close to the water & outside. As we walk up to the hostess stand at the outside entrance, there is a group of 7 wait staff eagerly awaiting customers to the EMPTY restaurant. The hostess then asks if we would like to sit in or out? I tell her we would like to sit in the sunny deck area with our umbrella opened to keep us outta the direct sun. She then tells us that she "really can't" cause those tables are all 4 seaters & we are only 2. There is absolutely NO ONE at any of the tables outside. I thought she was kidding. She says sorry with her head tilted & there is an uncomfortable silence as the 7 wait staff watch on quietly. Awkward! I turn to my wife & laugh, as we turn to leave. The hostess then reluctantly relents, & brings us to the outdoor table of our choice. We sat happily under our umbrella. As we listened to the screaming, gas weed whacker from the boat yard across the street. I have driven by this place since it was a dirty little shack back in the day. It appears pleasant enough as u pull up to it. The menu doesn't quite fit the place. Trying to be upscale & fancy with some dishes & are a bit pricey for a place that's about the size of a large shed or garage. There's one thing that attracts people to this place, & that's the outdoor seating near the water (not on). I ordered a bowl of gumbo. It was bland & watery. We ordered 2 apps, wings & calamari. Both small & on par with a amusement park menu. Complete with pre packaged blue cheese in plastic cup with lid on it. When asked for hot sauce, the waitress dropped a bottle of Tabasco on the table. I ordered grilled chicken with roasted peppers & mozzarella with pesto on a roll. It was a joke. The bread outweighed the ingredients. My wife had grilled chicken over a salad. It was wilted iceberg lettuce complete with the hard center part that ur not supposed to use. We would normally enjoy a few drinks on such a nice day. But, we were on the verge of walking out with every failure. We drank seltzer water & lemon. Thru the course of our meal, the outdoor area had picked up 4 other tables. All of them couples sitting at the 4 seat tables. Why would they even say anything to us about sitting out there to begin with??!!!! I guess they were gonna make a stand that day on no couples sitting at the 4 seaters lol. I noticed that no one really ate. The had a drink or 2 & an app & left. We had saw this debacle thru & we're now ready to get our check leave. As we're waiting for the check...Jokingly, my wife says, "imagine they charge us for all the seltzer water refills?" It was hot & we had 2 refills a piece. Bingo! Lmao!!! This dump charged us for the refills at $2.50 ea. I took pictures of our experience cause this place was so Cheezy & lame. It was nice outside that day so I gave them 2 stars for atmosphere. This place would do well with quick easy seafood apps & comfort foods & bar specials. Don't try to be something u ain't.....classy! Lol go have a beer on the deck and laugh as u watch the kid staff run around in bootlegged versions of Clam Power shirts. Not even the original art work of the famous LI clammers campaign of the 70's. read more
