It had been about 8 years since the last time we had dinner there, so last night was a delightful return. It is still an excellent restaurant. We started with a tomato, peach and burrata salad with vanilla oil. What a treat! The vanilla oil was an unexpected perfect fit, and the pickled peaches had just the right amount of chili to lift them from the ordinary. The tomatoes were beautiful and perfectly ripe. My date had the spaghetti with anchovies, clams and mussels. Of course, the pasta was perfectly al dente and the shellfish were tender and tasty. I had the rabbit and pecan tart. A nice puff pastry surrounded a tasty hash of rabbit. Was there finely chopped mushroom in there? I don't know, but it very good. It came with a ball of mustard gelato whose contrast in flavor, texture and temperature with the crispy crust and warm rabbit was remarkable. Everything paired nicely with a nice crisp Stag's Leap Chardonnay. What a great night!

The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because the price differential between these two items is about $5 and instead of itemizing our receipts, our waiter just split it in two, overcharging my friend and undercharging me. It seemed very incongruent to the rest of our otherwise excellent experience here.

Went here for a friends birthday so we made a reservation. It wasn't that busy when we arrived but it is a small space so never hurts to reserve a table. Our server was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions about portion sizes and what ingredients were in each item. We ordered the garlic bread and salad to share and I got the Cacio e Pepe full size. I didn't eat the salad but my friends really liked it! The garlic bread was AMAZING! Definitely the talk of the night! It's only three slices and it was a little pricy but seemed worth it. The full-size Cacio e Pepe was creamy and delicious! I didn't finish it all intentionally because I wanted to take the rest for lunch tomorrow. I would definitely suggest this one to anyone! At the bottom of the menu, it does say that a 20% service fee is added onto everyone's bill and that this is not a tip. I think it's important to point this out because some people might misinterpret it so definitely take that as you will. Overall, the food was amazing, it was a little pricey, but worth it for a friend's birthday.

We ordered garlic bread, a custom pizza with sausage , ravioli with lamb and pasta with arugula pesto and asparagus all to share. The ravioli came first. It was pretty bland even for my 7 yr old. Lamb was slightly dry and bland. The pizza was average, ok. The other pasta never arrived. We waited over 30 min after we had finished dishes before we just had to cancel the order. They said they only have 10 pans for pasta and they had 41 orders...at that point we just wanted to leave plus the lightest pasta was going to be served last. On top of that, the waiter while I was talking took my drink that was 40% full and I was saving it to go with my meal as I wasn't going to order a second cocktail. That was annoying and felt deliberate to try to get us to order more drinks while we waited.

I really wanted to like this place because it is right around the corner from my house and I was…read morehoping to have a good Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. However, I have dined here 5 times over the last 12 months and each time I have experienced 1) servers that neglect the solo diner and 2) lazy bartenders. All five times I have gone here, to both eat and drink, I have been sat at the bar. I normally enjoy the experience of sitting at a restaurant's bar, however the experiences at Spuntino have been unpleasant. 1) When you sit at the bar, they have a server attend to you instead of the bartender standing right in front of you. This would be fine except the server still has a full section in another portion of the restaurant and they tend to forget about their customers sitting at the bar. All five times I've ate here I've constantly had to flag down my server to order, get the check, have my drink that's sitting at the bar handed to me, order another round, etc., which greatly takes away from the dining experience. This leads into the lazy bartenders issue. 2) Despite sitting in front of the bartender as they make your drink, they refuse hand you your drink once it's made and instead will walk a longer distance to place your drink on the service well where it sits until your server comes to deliver it, which in most cases has taken 5-10 minutes. So you're sitting there staring at your drink watering down because the bartenders are too lazy to just hand it to you even though the drink ticket shows that the drink is for a customer sitting at the bar. There have been a handful of occasions where I've had to flag down another staff member to ask them to deliver my drink because my server hasn't come behind the bar and the bartenders will completely ignore you when you try to get their attention. I experienced these problems the first time I dined at Spuntino, and I've tried several times again hoping the experience would be different, but each time it has been the same which has been extremely disappointing and ultimately deterred me from wanting to dine and spend my money here.

We had heard great things about this spot and were excited to stop in for dinner. I thought it was…read morecounter service but they must have just switched it to table service, because they are definitely (hopefully) working through some kinks there. I couldn't believe our experience was at the same restaurant that came so highly recommended to us by others. I'll start with the good: The food was really, really good. We shared bread and the cacio e pepe and rigatoni vodka and everything was really good. Which is why it's so unfortunate that the service and experience as a whole was so terrible. We were told it'd be 40 mins wait for a table, so we left our name. We barely had time to walk down the block before we got the table ready text, which we thought was odd but were pleasantly surprised by. The seating situation is not comfortable for table service. Maybe it works for when it was casual counter service, but if I'm sitting down to order and it's taking more time, I expect to be comfortable. The booths looked so uncomfortable, our table was shoved up against the wall at the back by a huge industrial fan by the door to the back area, and the lighting in the nicer front room was so harsh I'm not sure how anyone was sitting up there comfortably. It would have been fine if we weren't there for nearly 2 hours. We were seated by the hostess and 20 minutes later hadn't even been greeted or brought water. We watched other tables who were seated after us have their orders taken, but nothing for us. There seemed to be only one waiter for all the tables on the one side of the restaurant, and he was in no rush to actually get anything done. Finally I think the hostess noticed our frustrated looks and came and brought water, then she came back to take our order. The food took forever to come out. I think it was around 20 more mins to get the bread, and at least 30 more after that for the pasta. By that point we had gotten so hungry we really weren't hungry anymore, which was a shame because the pasta was really good (made for good leftovers later). Nobody came to check in on us after we received the food, and we didn't talk to anyone again until we flagged down the hostess (who seemingly had taken over as our server?) for boxes and the check. We had wanted to order their peach dessert but decided against it as there was nobody to take our order and we didn't want to be there another half hour plus waiting for it. When the check came, the one waiter for the section (the one who I think was supposed to be taking care of us as he was working literally every other table in the section, but hadn't done a thing so the hostess had to take over) brought the check and it was just weird, there was no sorry for the wait or sorry that your servicing was a bit odd being served by the hostess. We were so glad to be out of there and wished we had done take out or gone somewhere else, it wasted a huge chunk of our Friday night sitting there so uncomfortable just waiting and waiting. I think we'd be willing to give this place another chance based on the food alone, but it doesn't seem our experience was unusual since they've changed to table service based on other reviews I've seen, so they'd need to change something majorly for us to want to do that. I would recommend this place for the food, but the experience kind of ruined my ability to do that at this time.

The 4 stars is solely because the staff was Very nice and clearly apologetic, and is not indicative…read moreof our actual experience, which was 2 stars. To start, the inside is veryyyy cute. However, it's EXTREMELY loud, so if you, like we, are with someone who is older/hard of hearing/wears hearing aids, the inside is simply not accessible. I cannot fathom why, in a place that is clearly intended to be intimate/romantic, it needs to be so loud. Unfortunately, that meant our party of 3 had to sit outside, and for all the effort they put into the interior, they put Zero into the outdoor seating, which was plastic tables on a concrete patio next to a dirt construction pit. I think everyone sitting outside was there only because it was too loud inside because it's not an area you'd choose to sit. We sat for 50 minutes before we saw our cocktails. The waitress or manager clearly notice because she brought out complimentary limoncello. Just as well because the cocktails were not good. The paloma, which we were told had a concentrated grapefruit flavor, barely tasted like anything at all. Our other drink of gin, campari, and cava was cloyingly sweet (though the presentation was nice). I will say, their glassware game is 100%. The drinks... eh. Very strange how this place is a sister to Run for the Roses. We ordered the special (a pesto pasta) and 40 minutes later, were told it was sold out (we were seated at 7:30 and the place wasn't even half full). OK, fine, so we ordered the Vodka O's and lemon pasta instead. Both were fine. Good but nothing to write home about. The Greek salad was tasty but it was a strangely tiny portion of veggies and a HEAPING serving of whipped feta. I mean, I'm never going to kick whipped feta out of bed but the dish made no sense. We asked for bread for the feta and they gave us 2 pieces when we were 3 people. This kind of service mishap is just annoying - it's not a menu item and we know you will charge so please bring out enough bread for the table. We had ordered the cabbage and when the special was out and we replaced it with another pasta, I told the waiter to 86 the cabbage, and it clearly looked like he never put the order in. Please write orders down - no one will judge. For that, he brought out a free dessert and gave us some leftovers of the pesto pasta dish to go. Strange but... fine. It was enough to be a portion so I'm not sure from where it magically appeared. Also, the parking is $10. Just park on the street somewhere because the pricing is nowhere. Unsure if we'll go back. Food is decent but for the price, I expect way better service, cocktails, and cadence of food running. For all the mistakes, they were super nice, at least.

The Fino Martini was amazing. 3. The Service was good, we were sat right away and our server was nice. Not really Cons but Middle Ground: 1. The food portions per cost was pretty wild, We thought the large for the Spagetti Os was a small and then when we got the small size for the Spaghetti , it was the size of a peanut bowl or dipping sauce bowl, around like 3-4 oz and 3 bites. The flavor was amazing but that was a shock. 2. The Greek Salad was not a salad but a feta dip. In the salad we had a total of 2 lettuce leaves, 3 tomato slices (like a quarter cut) and 4 small cucumber slivers, We ended up using the tomatoes to scoop the feta. The feta was good but this needs to be marketed as a dip. Overall we did like it, you can tell they try and have quality food, The pasta is fresh which is awesome. I wouldn't come here for dinner but more so if you want cocktails that have some snack options. The menu just isn't a dinner menu.
