I requested an in-state move for a jr one bedroom apartment. I received a response to my initial request very quickly with all information I needed to help me figure out whether I wanted to book the service including a estimated cost for the service I requested. The booking processes was very transparent and easy to understand (this was important to me because this was the first time I had booked a service like this).The quote was fair given the move distance and size and quantity of items in the move. I got a call the day before my move to confirm the booking and a confirmation message 1 hour before they arrived. When the movers arrived we first talked through what the final cost of the service would be comprised of. The movers worked at a steady pace and we're very receptive and responsive to how and where I wanted things put and very careful with how my things were handled. ARS was referred to us by our realtor after we were getting some crazy quotes from some of the bigger moving companies out there. We didn't learn until later that our realtor used them to move himself. TG and crew were great, they stayed in touch and communicated frequently leading up to the move. They arrived, went over the contract, and TG said, "okay we begin at 11" - and at 11 they were like machines moving through my home disassembling and wrapping furniture carefully. I have a standing jewelry armoire and asked if I should take my jewelry out and they said no... I was terrified to open it at the new house - but I was amazed that everything was exactly where it had been placed by me - not one tiny earring was out of place. Prior to leaving for the new house I ran out and got them lunch and drinks - they had been working nonstop and never took a break until I asked them if they would like lunch. You may ask why I would do that - I learned from years of moving in the military - you take care of your moving crew and they take care of your stuff. Sometimes a little extra goes a long way. The real life game of tetris they played with my house was amazing - they fit a 6 bedroom house into one truck. At the new house they were even more efficient - carefully reassembling my furniture and placing boxes in the rooms that were labeled for. I highly recommend TG and crew - he even made a comment that I had his back up crew because I scheduled pretty last minute. If that was his backup crew I can't even imagine what his normal crew is like. read more

I was ambushed with a written contract that I was forced to sign, with no opportunity to read it, when the movers arrived. This was after I had explicitly asked the sales representative, James Malone, whether there would be a contract. Mr. Malone answered "No, just pay cash or credit card. No contract. And I do mean "ambushed" because ARS had two weeks in which they could have given me the contract, in advance. But they procrastinated until the day of my move, and I was denied an opportunity to read it; not that anybody could read the fine print, anyway, without a magnifying glass. My carbon copy of the contract is illegible because the "carbon" did not print. That means I must check my credit-card statement to discover what I was charged because ARS kept the original that is readable and gave me a copy that is illegible. Then at the end, I was bullied into adding a 15-percent tip, which is an expense that James Malone never divulged, even after I had asked whether tipping is customary. He answered "no". It means that I was lied to, twice. First, about there being "no written contract"; and then, about "no tipping". It matters, too, because a mandatory 15-percent tip is a significant expense; and Mr. Malone was evasive about it. Communications with Mr. Malone were excellent, until I had agreed to hire ARS. Then communications became abrupt to nonexistent, in that I made three follow-up inquiries that Mr. Malone never acknowledged. That motivated me to contact him, again, just to confirm that our moving date was still on because I had not heard back from him, in several days. I was bullied by the two movers, inside my own house. One of them persisted in repeatedly saying, "Are we finished?" As it turns out, they were in a hurry to leave my house because, unknown to me at the time; they had a second job scheduled that same day. So, they were in a hurry to finish my job so that they could do two jobs in one day - to my detriment because they quit before my job was finished. It felt disrespectful for the movers to being speaking Chinese because, in my capacity as the paying customer, I felt that I had a right to know what is being said inside my house, in my presence. Both movers also stunk like tobacco. Although they did not smoke in my presence, there was no mistaking that both must be heavy smokers. My guess is that ARS treats their movers like slaves, forcing them to do multiple moves per day and forcing them to work for tips in lieu of a fair salary. Otherwise, why the sob story used to coerce me into giving a 15-percent tip? Would I hire ARS, again, despite all-the-above? Probably. Because there is no assurance that ARS competition is any better. As a generality, movers are in such high demand that movers are at liberty to treat customers however they want. Plus, movers realize that people being moved are a one-time customer, which causes them to feel no incentive to build customer loyalty. That is because once you are moved, they know that they are never going to hear from you again, regardless of whether you are a satisfied customer. read more

I have mixed feeling about these movers. I hired them to move me from Maryland to CT. While the movers came and were respectful, just when we were about to leave, the moving truck broke down in front of my house. They said it was the transmission, which I would have thought they would have had scheduled maintenance on especially knowing they had a long drive ahead of them. Since it's a pandemic and I was already packed up with my 7 month old baby, I had to drive to CT and leave them to reload my stuff into another truck and set off the next day to deliver my things the next day. They were great about delivering my things the next day, but they ended up damaging some items in the process of the move because they weren't properly wrapped. I understand that they might have been rushing when they were loading the truck since we had a long drive ahead of us, but that resulted in damage to my property. So I would recommend them for short distance moves when they don't feel rushed, but not long distance moves. read more

He gave me various options which included a flat or hourly rate. No hidden fees. TJ even transported our vehicle at no charge. ARS Movers did a great job! I spoke with James who was so helpful and put my mind at ease during a stressful time. He was very responsive on phone and email and answered all of my questions. During the day of the move, TJ and Aza were fast and efficient and loaded up the truck really well. I was moving from a 1 bedroom to another 1 bedroom and the 15 ft. truck they provided had more than enough space. The price was great and I love that the cost is pro-rated on the half hour, not full hour like some other companies. For example, other companies will have a rate of $100/hr and charge you $500 for working 4 hours 15 minutes. But since ARS is prorated, you would get charged $450 for 4 hours 15 minutes, which I think is a lot fairer. Overall, I would highly recommend ARS Movers. read more

This is the second time we have used ARS to move in a little over a year. During the first move they helped us move from a large 1 bedroom to a 4 story townhouse. The service and responsiveness was impeccable even though they moved us on one of the hottest days and had to move multiple items up 3 flights of narrow stairs. They recommended we use 3 movers next time since the move took a lot longer than estimated with just 2 movers. The second time around I specifically asked for 3 movers and our move was even more efficient and actually cost about the same as the last move but the shaved off about 3 hours from the last move and ended up costing the same. The movers just work so hard and are so efficient and courteous. We had some issues with the parking situation in our new place and the movers were able to find a workaround by double parking and just moving truck when people needed their cars. They just made it so easy. I will definitely use them again. read more

TJ Lee and his crew did an outstanding job at protecting, transporting and unloading a partial furniture move from Fairfax to Chapel Hill, NC as if it was their own. What was especially helpful to us was their guarantee to pack up and deliver the furniture within 24 hours. They also moved a safe and placed everything exactly where we wanted them, which reduced our need when we decided to reposition some items after they left. I reached out to several different movers and they all were comparable in price (ARS offered a cash discount) I was simply moving a mattress set and frame so the value was not there for me but no-one I spoke with gave a reduction for the local move. Literally, one bed, 1.1 mile. That being said the guys were GREAT! On time and fast. They put my bed together with no instruction. Every part of the process was handled professionally and went very smoothly--from getting the initial quote, to scheduling, to arriving right on time to move me out of my 19th floor apartment, to transporting my two truck loads of goods to another city, to moving everything into my new four story townhome. AJ Lee and his team were phenomenal. They were each some of the hardest working individuals I have ever seen. They were very careful with every box and piece of furniture, and never once complained about the many, many stairs they had to climb during the arduous move into the townhome. If I was unsure of where a particular box should be placed, they insisted on opening it so that I could determine on which floor it should be taken. They said that they didn't want me to have to worry about moving the heavy boxes later by myself. Their consideration and courtesy was world-class. I hired this team for a move from a 3 bedroom house in DC to Richmond VA. At about 2/3 of what I was seeing from some other companies, I'll admit I was a bit worried. However I could not have been happier with the move! They showed up on time, were quick and diligent, were cool with my wild puppy :) , and everything went very smoothly. Absolutely would hire again! Recently moved and used ARS Movers for our short relocation we moved from one 3-story townhouse to another 3-story townhouse, which also happened to be a new build with very vanilla walls. When I requested quotes via Yelp ARS was the 1st to reach out and gave me a quote based on my inventory list that I submitted. The quote was competitive as well as fair. On the day of the move they arrived 20 minutes early which I appreciated to do another inventory then the supervisor directed his crew to secure the heavy pieces of furniture and started to moved the boxes to the truck. The team was extremely efficient and I had no damage to either home or any piece of furniture during the move. The truck was vey clean and organized.
