Awesome BYOB sushi place with very reasonable prices and great sushi. Even though the reviews were really good, I was hesitant when we arrived because of their advertised 'all you can eat sushi for $25' (those places always worry me), but the sushi was excellent. I'm happy to note that although we didn't have a reservation and it was a Friday evening, they happily found us a table right away. We ended up ordering a spicy tuna roll, the Arigato roll, the Viagra roll, the golden pillow and the spicy mania roll for the two of us. The sushi came out within 10 minutes, I was shocked! Overall thoughts were...spicy tuna was my last favorite, but still okay. The Arigato roll was very tasty, lots of different fishes and very reasonably priced. The Viagra roll was awesome, definitely a favorite. The golden pillows were amazing...they only came 3 to an order though, I should have gotten another order. They were my favorite. The Mania roll was also very tasty, nice kick with the spicy crabmeat on top. This is now one of my favorite sushi spots in my area. Definitely recommend making a reservation. Came here on a Saturday and 7pm. Heads up the parking lot is extremely small only fits around 8 cars in a one narrow row. The restaurant was busy and the tables were a little close together. My boyfriend and I did the AYCE dinner option which was $28 each. The list of appetizers was short but there were plenty of sushi options both basic rolls and special rolls. Like some other reviews, the rolls are slightly heavy on the rice. The rice was puffier then I've had other places. We tried a variety or rolls and everything was good but nothing was amazing. The service was great. The appetizers and sushi came out extremely fast. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. They quickly took plates away when we were done. The food was average but the service was amazing. Tried to give this place another chance. Called in advance for a table of 6 reservation hours in advance. The guy who picked up seemed to have a hard time understanding us but took our phone number, confirmed our reservation of 6 but it got sketchy from there -- he never said bye or hung up the phone and so we were confused during our call. We got there at our reservation time and of course the guy never wrote down our name. The hostess/manager was unapologetic as she looked through the list and could not find the name on the reservation list. She wanted us to wait another 5 minutes for another party of 5 who was late. We asked her multiple times what would happen if the other party came and she kept saying "we will figure it out" and "let me finish" instead of apologizing like she should have for the mistake. The table of "5" did end up showing but there was only 2 people but they were still seated. Clearly we were going to have to wait for a table to finish and she was not acknowledging that or apologizing. We left pretty upset but happy we did not eat there since the last thing we wanted was to have a meal there after all that chaos. I went to Arigato hoping to discover a new AYCE (all you can eat) sushi restaurant. I was a little skeptical about the place from reading the reviews, and well... they're right. It's not that good. Most of the sushi items have spicy tuna, which would make sense if their spicy tuna was good. It was just not that at all. Now, let's talk about the rice issue. If you've read other reviews, you might notice some people talking about how they put too much rice in their sushi. But that was not my experience at all. Maybe the restaurant owners saw the reviews and told the chefs to fix that. Well, their idea of "fixing" that issue was to put less rice. Great! But wait, now the sushi rolls are about an inch in diameter. Before it was all rice, little fish. Now it's just little rice, little fish. I mean I do prefer it this way, but I think the main point was how little the fish they put in. I should've taken a pic of it, but maybe you can tell from these photos. It looks decent on camera honestly, but I'm pretty sure that's all they were aiming for--'decent'. On the bright side, the customer service was good and the music and environment was good for a younger crowd (20s). I appreciate good music. My friend was singing along to some of the music they were playing. The sushi comes out super fast too. My friend even complained about how fast it was. I laughed, thinking that I've never thought food coming out fast was a bad thing. And it wasn't, it was just funny considering the quality. Really, I don't like making bad reviews because I know how hard it is to have a restaurant, but I do think that if they could improve on the fish portions and not skimp out on it in each roll, their reviews could get better. Sushi buffets are always a tricky thing for me. For some reason even though I know the vast majority of them serve mediocre food with way too much rice I always keep shooting for that unicorn that will surprise me. This place definitely did! The sushi is rock solid here. Very fresh, lots of different options and they don't overwhelm you with insane amounts of rice. The AYCE option is definitely worth the money if you can put down a decent amount of either sushi or hot food. I was a big fan of their tempura and salmon teriyaki and it was cool that they included it as part of the AYCE option. I came here for an early dinner so the sushi came out pretty fast. I can see how things might slow down if it gets super busy here so I'm glad I beat the crowd and came in super early. I'd point out a few rolls of note but TBH every option I tried was excellent. There wasn't anything that I didn't enjoy during my visit. Parking here is a bitch though. They have valet service at night but the lot is tiny so don't be surprised if you'll run into issues during peak times. Free valet parking was a plus although the lot is small; otherwise, free street parking is available though whether you find a spot would depend on your luck. Nice variety of appetizers and sushi but no sashimi was included. You can also just order from regular menu if you don't want the AYCE option. Service was quick and attentive! Food we loved: salmon and shrimp teriyaki; pepper tuna salad; eel and red snapper rolls; mussels (wish it didn't come with the spicy sauce but still good) and the soft shell crab were a must!! Food to skip: tempura and playboy special rolls. I think we will stick with appetizers and just sushi (not rolls) next time. Very simple, no frills establishment but the fact that you can have "all you can eat" sushi at a BYOB for $28/person speaks volumes. Order all your appetizers first at once, then order all your sushi at once. You can always re-submit your form to order more sushi if you are still hungry. I love so many things about this place, I dont even lnow where to begin... First off, the service of the staff surpasses all others beyond a doubt. I come from Hackensack to Edgewater because they are THAT courteous and accomodating. During Covid-19 when other local spots were very quick to close early, or not take orders half hour prior to closing. This venue will not only take your order but will even stay a few minutes later if you happen to run late. (I try not to, but things happen) Today I had a very big order for my birthday, and the owner/manager made sure to come outside to the car and wish me a happy birthday personally . I also recieved iced cream on the house, and candles inside my order. (Without asking) They surely set the bar very high. The interior I havent had the pleasure of dining in YET, due to the virus, but I plan to in the near future. It is always very clean and organized. Really wanted to love this place based on all the reviews but I feel like overall it just missed the mark. I'll start with the good things, they offer valet parking and ayce sushi at a pretty standard $25 price with a ton of options between appetizers, sushi, rolls, and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. We called and made a reservation as the place is pretty small. Ok so experience wise really is what brings this place down. The waiters are obviously very friendly but SO clumsy.. waitstaff was dropping menus, straws, trays literally the entire time. I get it it's a high paced environment but it was hard to relax and enjoy the meal. Place is also small so they kept moving tables around through out our dinner. Once again very loud and not relaxing. They need to invest in some tapestries, cushioned seating, or rugs something to absorb the noise factor in here. Our seat was in the back right by the waiters/bus boys prep station. Maybe put up a partition to block this from customer view and eliminate some noise? Also not to the fault of the restaurant but there were two kids running around the restaurant just adding to the overwhelming environment. So now we get to the sushi.. rolls were basically entirely rice. I know a lot of ayce places do this as a way to cut costs and fill you up but this was so blatant. Roll was double wrapped with rice is some cases. As others recommended definitely go with the more specialty rolls to at least feel like you are getting some value for your money. It is an added benefit they have the entire menu on Ayce because most places have a limited menu. No rolls stood out as real winners to outweigh the rest of the negatives. So very conflicted in writing this review.. we've been dining at Arigato for nearly 4 years. We were first attracted to the AYCE at only $25pp for GREAT quality apps, sushi, rolls, & speciality rolls. It's also BYOB which is a plus. However, over the years the size of the rolls have become smaller, they're inconsistent with the fish to rice ratio (more rice than fish at times) yet they've raised theyre prices to $28pp. The staff has always been fairly nice but again over time, less attention has been given and it's clear that they've become almost robotic in service. It's not a bad spot especially if you can eat as much sushi as we do (lol) but it is unfortunate to know how much better it was a few years back. I was really in the mood for sushi tonight. I was looking for someplace close to home and we decided to give Arigato a try. This is more like an all you can eat sushi spot. I decided not to go the all you can eat route. I really wasn't looking to overdo it. I ordered the miso soup which is fine I also ordered the seaweed salad which had a funky taste so I didn't bother finishing it. I basically ordered a tuna roll, tempura appetizer and a few pieces of sashimi. I think this is a really good spot for all you can eat sushi if you're into that. The prices are reasonable. Food was decent, but the negative review relates to the garbage situation situated in the small parking lot for Arigato. After our meal we walked towards our car, and we all jumped back when we saw about 10 rats scrambling around the garbage dumpster and around the parking lot. It was beyond disgusting to see this, so I called the manager and let her know what was going on. Manager was relatively unconcerned about the situation...said they know about it but not much they can do. Look, we've all seen a million dumpsters at restaurants and they all have rat traps around them especially those associated with restaurants and they have exterminators coming in regularly to rectify the situation. Management should set traps and should put a fence or something around the dumpster to get rid of the rats. The absolute last thing you want to see after eating is a bunch of rats!! Went here last night for AYCE. I read many reviews before going but my group was set on going. All the reviews are right the fish is very mediocre, I got a few pieces of sushi that were thin slices and HUGE balls of rice underneath, i also love sushi and sashimi and I could tell the fish wasn't fresh, as for the sushi rolls those also had barely any fish in them and heavy on the rice- from the outside it looked it really nice with the sauces and fish roe and slices of fish but the inside didn't have much. I also love miso soup and that didn't come with the AYCE I had to pay a separate fee for that. And same with a bowl of white rice was an additional charge. It wasn't bad and I definitely ate a good amount but there are other places nearby that do AYCE for a better price and quality. We were looking and craving some sushi and we were searching and BAM here it was a little in the cut sushi spot in Edgewater! The sushi was decent. You can either choose AYCE or a la carte, AYCE is $25/person not bad at all. If you go a la carte, rolls range from $10~$14. Being a fat boy when it comes to sushi, I went with the AYCE LOL! I've decided to try this Japanese restaurant but once I had walked in I regretted immediately. AC wasn't working and all the workers and customers were sweating and eating.. when I saw the menu again, I regretted again. Individually, like rolls and sushi, weren't cheap so everyone was basically doing the all you can eat. And for all you can eat, the quality isn't as good since they complete for the portion, not the quality. Anyway, I didn't want to do all you can eat as I didn't feel like stuffing myself with unlimited sushi and rolls with time limit so we ordered some sushi al la carte and salmon terriyaki entree. Sushi pieces were so tiny and rolls were really thin and tiny too. It wasn't quality either. Salmon terriyaki tasted awful too. Usually you can't go wring with terriyaki dishes as they are cooked with sweet terriyaki sauce which is overpowering but the salmon must had been frozen for awhile, it had that thawed smell and just wasn't fresh. It just didn't taste good and the vegetables served with the terriyaki were not impressive at all either. Just a couple of pieces of zucchini and broccoli.. One good thing about the restaurant is that it's BYOB but the restaurant was so hot, we couldn't enjoy our drinks and were eager to leave. read more

Pre-covid times, I used to frequent this place with the fam. We usually order the bronx bomber, tebow time, playboy, and princess rolls. The quality and service were always excellent. Staff was always attentive and provided great service. However, based on a more recent visit, the food quality has taken a tumble. It was subpar and I was disappointed because it's one of my fave AYCE sushi buffets. I'm thinking maybe we came for a late dinner which explains why the rolls didn't look/taste fresh but the time doesn't justify it. The service is still excellent though. Everything ran smoothly--the management called the night before to confirm my reservations for my large group and both tables for 18 people were set up. Such a good AYCE sushi spot! My friends and I visited on a Sunday night close to 10PM - I'm so glad they close so late! I was a little worried showing up late since I saw a review about someone being turned away but they seated our party of 5 quickly. The spot is BYOB and we happened to bring wine with us. They open the bottles for you and bring the necessary glasses which I found cool. Ordering is easy. They provide two menus for their AYCE sushi and I like that they have pictures. That makes it really easy for first timers to really know what they're going to get. They give you a piece of paper that lists the menu items and you just check off what you want to order which is my favorite way to order for these types of spots. I didn't mind that they put all the rolls together since my group just shared all the rolls but I can see a problem with that system for picky eaters and allergy issues. Their rolls are gigantic, fresh, and presented nicely. We tried a lot of their special rolls but Tebow Time, Buzzer Beater, and Volcano were crowd favorites. They offer just a handful of apps also but they were nothing too special except for the TNT mussels which were delicious. They offer valet parking until a certain time (maybe 10PM?) since when we got there the guy said to just park ourselves in their tiny parking lot. The inside of the restaurant was clean and bright though on the small side which could be an issue during busy hours. A reason for the lack of 5 stars was their service could be worked on. Many times our water cups were not refilled and we had to flag down the waiters to take our orders for more sushi. There well still a handful of tables while we were there so that could be the reason but to walk on by without checking up is a no go. Esther (who works there) is fabulous!!!!The sushi is so awesome and you can purchase an ALL YOU CAN EAT course. Unlimited amounts of the best sushi. A total bang for your buck. Sushi! Alright so my lady and I were out and about and had a hankering for Sushi. Based on other Yelpers, seemed to us that Arigato is where it's at. We found out that this was correct. We found that we could eat all we could for a fixed price and it was a pretty wide selection. It was an interesting system they had there. For the all we can eat selection, we mark how many rolls/pieces for each eligible item. So this is what we marked down for starters: We got miso soup One green salad Shrimp Shumai (loved it!) Edamame Beef Negamaki (never tried it, it was very good) Tempura! There is a teriyaki section: Salmon Teriyaki (very delicious!) Now for the special rolls: Shrimp Tempura Roll Spider Roll Rainbow Roll Kamakazi Mansfield Golden Pillow! Godzilla Geisha At the end of the night, we had complimentary ice cream.
