Came here from breakfast, because I stayed at the hotel. It was a buffet style breakfast that had everything you're looking for. Including an omelet station, where you can also get waffles. I later realized that the waffle batter did have cinnamon in it, luckily before I ate it. I wish they listed that at the station, so I didn't waste it. I noticed because the syrup they offered said it was cinnamon maple syrup - they brought me regular syrup but as soon as I got closer to my waffle I smelled the cinnamon, so that was sad for me. Besides that the omelette was fantastic and they did not skimp out on the fillings, which had everything you could think of to choose from. All types of cheeses, meats, and veggies. Also on the way out noticed they had all the jams, butters, and whipped cream - it was away from the food. At the buffet section they had, scrambled eggs, bacon, and pork sausage. What I was really surprised about was the healthier options with turkey bacon, chicken sausage, all types of chobani yogurt flavors, and an assortment of fruits. The restaurant is located inside the Marriott Baltimore Waterfront & we ate breakfast here when we were staying at the Marriott. Breakfast was good and service was excellent. Mohammed was our server and was very friendly and made sure our coffee stayed filled and gave me a to go coffee. We had the broken yolk sandwich, chocolate chip pancakes and Belgian waffle. All 3 were tasty and filling. It's a little pricey for breakfast but overall good start to our day. read more

Checked in for a weekend at the Marriott with friends. We got in rather late so we decided to give this restaurant a go since it was in the lobby. Not many options but what we chose was pretty good. Two of us got the crab cake sandwich which had little filler. Another got the crab cake meal. Good but slightly pricey at $46! The other 2 got burgers which they said were dry. We also tried the bacon and crab chowder which was good but only lukewarm. We got cocktails as well and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. Overall, 4 stars. We came with just a little less than an over before closing so we did feel a bit rushed. Also, our waiter didn't know a lot of information so wondering if he may have been new. read more

Their service was very solid. Hard wood floor and exposed brick wall gives out Madman ambience. We tried their breakfast items and dinners, they were all pretty standard, pretty delicious. However they have a mice problem. For the few times we've been dining there, every time we see this little fellow rushing through the dining room. The servers saw them too, looked startled, but to my knowledge, nothing was acknowledged in a professional way or done. So, three stars for you. read more

I ate here for dinner one night while staying at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel. I greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant was dead; only a few people were inside. The place is decorated nicely. I was sad that they did not serve Coke so I ordered a beer instead to protest. I ordered the Flying Dog IPA. It was a blood orange color and had good flavor. I reviewed the menu and it was smallish. There were not many choices and not much that interested me. I was unsure whether to order the strip steak or the short rib. My waiter informed me that the strip steak had a much better portion size so I went with that. I also ordered Brussels Spouts and French Fries. The food arrived and it looked good. I cut into my steak and it was cooked perfectly. I started eating my food and could not believe how salty everything was. I usually bitch to myself whenever I am served fries with no salt but I think a whole shaker was used on my meal. It was hard to tell whether the food was good or not because the saltiness was too overpowering. Not too satisfied with my meal I ordered the Red Velvet Cheesecake. It was rich, thick and slightly sweet. It was hard to eat because I was already full but it tasted good. The place was nice, the service was good but the food was not great. 2.5 stars. read more

Best Bartenders ever two black females had the bar lit! The way they served was refreshing! Living in California I forgot people can be personable and excellent. The two black female bartenders were above average the chef not so much. The crab cake was the worse! I'm sorry, I really wanted to like apropoe's. I went during restaurant week to try it out because the reviews seemed decent and the pre-fix menu looked good. Restaurant week is a time to shine and bring in new customers. I really hope that the management changes it up or I'm hoping I just went on a fluke night but I should have known it wasn't a good sign when the other good restaurants were booked and this one wasn't. They have spent a ton on the interior but our experience felt like a bad Vegas restaurant. Just a few examples of why I can never go back: - FREEZING: Bring a sweater and wear pants. It may be hot outside during the day but when we're shivering at our table and seriously looking for a blanket (all of us, not just me), it's time to turn the a/c warmer. They admitted that it is always cold. We took turns propping the door open to warm up because it was so frigid. I'm not joking. - FOOD: We ordered both the pre-fix menu and the regular menu. Everything was under seasoned or terrible. I don't think they tasted anything they served. Maybe the chef was sick tonight? Or maybe this is more of a bar/lounge than a restaurant. -- AHI TUNA TAR TAR WITH GRILLED PINEAPPLE, AVOCADO, AVOCADO CREAM: it looked like creamed corn and was a waste of ahi tuna. I could taste pineapple but not much else. -- SPICED BRUSSEL SPROUT LEAVES, sriracha aioli, pickled shallots 6: the best dish we ordered but it had chunks of uncooked batter in between the larger chunks of leaves. --CRISPY CORN MEAL CAKE with pepper jelly and sunflower pesto: slightly boring, I would not recommend. -- SHORT RIBS, spring pea risotto, natural jus 28: relatively small piece of short rib and it was more than half fatty so not much meat. The seasoning was not their best. The risotto was undercooked and slightly too hard. I didn't eat much. -- GRILLED SWORDFISH - roasted eggplant, charred baby broccoli, sunflower seed pesto: We sent back the Pre-fix meal Swordfish because the gravy tasted rancid. -- SEARED SIRLOIN STEAK - beet, sweet potato, roasted sweet onion hash, upland cress heirloom tomato salad: it was a little cold, I think it sat for a few minutes too long before they brought it out. Very under seasoned. -- CREAMSICLE -orange cream float, with house made pretzel cookie: it was really sweet, too much for me but my friend liked it. -- TAHARKA CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM: it's made in Baltimore and good. They gave us a whole pint to-go so that was really nice. - SERVICE: our waitress and the other person training together were nice, however if you are training someone, I would expect excellent service. We waited for a long time and ended up asking for our swordfish (without the gravy) and our desserts to go. They gave us a $9 discount for our inconvenience but it seemed like they avoided us once we sent the swordfish back. I wish they would have tasted it...they would have understood. And some tips: - VALET PARKING: Valet for $8, at the Marriott Hotel. Don't park in the $15 garage like I did. - DRINKS were okay: -- STRAWBERRY CHILI MARGARITA: strawberry chili margarita casamigos blanco tequila, cointreau, ancho reyes chili liqueur, agave, strawberries, lime juice 13 ...I think this was the best drink. At least i finished it all. -- STRAWBERRY BASIL MULE: strawberry basil mule tito's vodka, ginger simple syrup, lime juice, ginger beer 21 (return the copper mug and pay 11) ...it was good, nothing to rave about but the copper mug is a little on the small side. We didn't take it home. -- HONEYDEW MOJITO: honeydew mojito flor de cana rum, honeydew puree, ginger simple syrup, mint, lime, club soda 10 ...it was mealy. i.e. the honeydew was old. Went here Friday night with my sister. We wanted to try something new. This place was great. It is located in the Marriott on the water by the four seasons. The atmosphere is sexy and intimate. There is a lounge area, where one can sit by the fire and have drinks. The dining area is also great. It overlooks the water and has a romantic feel. My sister ordered a salad, the scallops, and tator tots. I ordered the biscuits (so good, house salad, and crab cakes. The crab cakes are all fresh crab meat. You get two huge ones for 32 dollars. Best crab cakes I've had in a very long time. This place is great for drinks, socializing or a first date. Will be returning again. read more

Just the right amount of items, and the right selections, for a quick and simply lunch.  Just about every seat in the house is a great view overlooking the Harbor and Walkways.  For Lunch select from crispy corn meal cakes, deviled eggs, fried wings, hummus, maryland crab chowder, pimento blue crab cheese dip, roasted pumpkin bisque, rosetta beef meatballs, shrimp cocktail, roasted tomato soup, apropoe's leaf greens, caesar salad, roasted broccoli & beet salad, whipped mozzarella salad, cobb salad, duck confit quesadilla, grilled sword fish, maryland crab cakes, lamb ragout, quiche, grilled cheese & roasted tomato soup, grilled chicken panni, lobster roll, marriott burger, poe burger, roasted turkey blt, or tuna melt.  All with a variety of sides. Service is friendly, on point, and helpful too.  Today we had Mrs. Romy.  She's great.  So friendly, so helpful explaining menu items, and checked in quite regularly. The shrimp scampi with lemon butter sauce was good according to my wife inhad the same but was content with the wings. The only downside was the food runner gave our wings to someone and the waitress took in the back idk if they remade it or gave it back to us. I dined here alone while staying at the hotel. It wasn't busy and I just ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken. It was delicious. Service was great. Nice atmosphere. Excellent food while at the Marriott. We were able to get a take-out order for our room. I had the Apple French Toast, while my wife had the Spinach Egg-White Omelet. Both were tasty and hot. Negatives - The Baltimore Downtown Marriott doesn't do room service from Apropoe's. So there is no menu's in the room and the YELP Menu is not the correct menu. There seemed to be a disconnect with staff and hotel. At the bar/coffee stand, the person behind the counter told me they didn't do To-Go Orders. The Restaurant portion was very accommodating both on the phone and when arriving to pick-up the food. I would have ordered again, if I could have found a good menu to refer to. read more

Have been staying here at the Marriott Inner Harbor all week for meetings. Had the buffett breakfast a couple times and today being my last day decided to order off the menu. Was not impressed. For a higher end hotel one would think they would have good food. Ordered the eggs benedict with extra hollandaise. First issue was it came without the extra hollandaise. Then the poached eggs were totally hard. One of the reasons to have eggs benedict is so when you cut the eggs the yolk runs all over the rest and makes it yummy. Not these. And last there was the english muffin, it was stale. Over all this breakfast was a huge disappointment and I should have stuck with the buffet. Live and learn read more

Disappointing service... seems like none of the service staff know what is going on... and they are angry about it... Was here for a conference, ended up having dinner from here twice and both experiences were horrible. Super long waits to get seated with a reservation. Good food, good drinks. I would've given five stars but the beers were just way too expensive. I ordered a few things during my four night stay and all were good. A white chocolate mocha ($4.50), blue moon on tap ($8), and the green salad with chicken ($18). The beer was a pint, and cost $8! With a $1 tip that's the same price as my rib dinner at Dinosaurs BBQ! Insane. Do not recommend drinking beer here. The salad ($11) was also expensive but pretty good. Fresh greens, slices of pear, and a sprinkling of goat cheese, with an extra order of roasted chicken breast ($7) that was pretty good, juicy for a chicken breast, and they left the skin on. Service was good. The restaurant is set up like a series of small living rooms, so it feels really private and I could get my work done and eat and watch tv at the same time, much like I would at home (lol kind of sad). The food was your typical American restaurant with pizzas (range from $14-$17 with a crab option), burgers, sandwiches, and of course sea food options (mostly crab versions of stuff, like crab cake sandwiches etc). I am writing from a place of utter disbelief. While staying at the Marriott Waterfront I opted to just run downstairs for some wings with two other conference attendees. We were sat immediately. The server came over and asked for our order, as one of us began to order he interrupted her and said give me the food order only the kitchen is about to close (strike one) we understood and obliged. After he placed food orders and returned with water we asked to order drinks when we were told he has to clean up(strike two). The food comes, we let go of our hopes to order drinks at the table and opt to walk to the bar individually. As we eat, I notice mice running around in the area adjacent to our seats. I am now somewhere between perturbed with the service and scared because I simply don't like rodents, especially not while I'm eating. I decide to stop eating, pay and leave. As I signed my room number on the receipt the waiter said, "REALLY, no tip". I subsequently asked to see the manager who simply told us, he was the best server on staff and to expect mice in Baltimore. I have never seen, heard, been treated so rudely before. This is an extremely poor reflection of Marriott and it's paid staff. No one offered a simple apology. read more

We are staying at the Marriott, and it was pouring rain this evening. Decided to go down to the bar to grab a drink and the bartender came to take our order at 6:50. Happy hour is Sundays from 4-7. The bartender said it was too close to 7 to get happy hour. I have never encountered a bar denying happy hour within the happy hour time before. Husband tried to order a $15 specialty cocktail, they were out of that cocktail, and so he ordered an old fashioned instead, not specifying the alcohol, which is customary to just provide house. They charged him $18 for his cocktail. When we questioned it they would not budge and would not explain why they placed a more expensive drink in. Do not recommend. read more

Came here for happy hour with a group. We were promptly seated in their lounge space and had friendly staff. Had a delicious riesling wine (one of the best ever) and a few appetizers or the group. We enjoyed the spinach dip, kettle cooked chips with seasoning and another. One coworker has severe allergies and the staff was very accommodating, even had the chef come out to speak to her. Well it's not starting from good. We are a group of 10. The only guests here mind you. We ordered appetizers and they arrived in a timely fashion BUT I had to hunt down the plate stack and get plates for everyone. Our waiter is young male. Nice but not nearly assertive enough. I think he would stand in the shadow and wait 20 mins before talking loud enough for you to know he's there. It isn't getting any better....entrees all came out at different times the last one arriving quite a time after all the others. 10 mins. Food is tasty. I ordered Shrimp and Grits. It's not overly greasy tasting as it sometimes can be. Sure would like another bottle of wine. Perhaps they don't like making money. There is one other couple dining now. Maybe dessert is where it's at???? I'm trying here folks, I'm trying.... Ok so dessert was good. We opted for the liquid version. The night is going much better now. Came here with my 2 friends when were in Baltimore a month ago. As we wanted to do as many touristy things as possible, we figured doing lots of Poe-themed things would be a good idea. This place came up, so we decided to come by to get a drink. The bar itself is attached to a hotel and is right on the waterfront. Our server was very nice, though the bar itself was kind of confusing: it looked like a nice, chic lounge, but they had various tv's on, broadcasting whatever sports games were on for the evening. Also, despite the name obviously coming from Edgar Allen Poe's namesake, there were very few drinks on the menu named after him or his works. What a missed opportunity! The drinks were priced like what you would expect at a touristy bar in the downtown area of any major city, which means that I felt like they were kind of expensive. Still, it's not a bad place to get a drink at if you happen to be in the area, and it is right across the water from the Trash Wheel. read more

Staying at the Marriott Waterfront, I decided to eat in the hotel at Apropoe's. BIG mistake! I tried the Crab chowder. It was fine. But then they brought my main course, Curried Chicken over coconut rice. It was inedible: dry, with several rock-hard bits and bones, and what felt like scrapings from the bottom of the pot. I took 3 bites and had to stop punishing myself for the bad decision to eat here. In their defense, the server was courteous and helpful, and the manager was polite and did offer another selection. One star would be an apropos rating for Apropoe's. This place is a coffee shop/bar/restaurant is located inside the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront hotel. Quite honestly it's lucky to find itself inside the hotel considering that is why I and my fellow colleagues from the company I work for found ourselves in there everyday we were at the hotel....especially because almost everyday was so insufferably wet and dreary due to the effects of the coming storm Florence... at least I think it's why it was raining every day in Baltimore in the week approaching the storm. Anyway, myself and my coworkers experienced daily the frustrations of drinking and eating here. First day I was there, I met my boss, his wife and a few others there for drinks after I had taken two flights from Miami to get here. Over twenty minutes to get someone's attention to give me a bottled beer! I also ordered some potato chips so I could survive until dinner time as I had not eaten almost anything all day... another 25 minutes for chips! When they came I thought wow these chips look good...but they weren't. Mix of soggy or overlooked... no flavor... bland... no salt...terrible. The manager at least comped the potato chips. Funny thing is, a fire investigator I know got there to the bar and we started talking. Took him twenty minutes to get a beer too. Also hilarious...I started to see they began to run out of beer. How do you run out of beer? Pretty much they were unprepared for all the people who were coming to a nationwide anti fraud conference. I later came back the next day to have a coffee as this is also a coffee shop... coffee tasted terrible. Burnt taste.... couldn't be taken out no matter how much creme and sugar you used. I later came back that night for more beers... thankfully this time it didn't take as long. The next day I ordered food to my room and I am assuming it came from here as this is the only restaurant on site. Ordered Pepperoni Pizza and sea salt fries. I have never in my life forced myself to eat a pizza. Weird/bad taste...but I needed to eat something. Fries were wilted but flavorful. In other words.... it's convenient but don't expect much. This has possibly been the worst service I have ever had. To start they did not have the reservations that we mad for 10 people. After waiting 30 minutes we finally got seated at a high top table for dinner only to be moved after complaining. We did not get any bread the appetizers were cold and had to be remade. It's not everyday a chef beats Bobby Flay at his craft. It's not everyday that chef works at a local hotel restaurant. It's definitely not everyday that you get the meet the celebrity chef, Kiran Patnam, who beat the Food Network star. Keep in mind, Apropoe's is a hotel restaurant. A very good hotel restaurant. We had a client meeting ending with lunch. Been there several times but not as often as I'd like. I had read in the Baltimore Sun of Chef Patnam's victory. How he kept it moot for nearly eight months is beyond me. Needless to say, the winning dish, Butter Chicken is on the Apropoe's menu. It's a new item. It's the dish that beat Bobby Flay. From the Sun: "Patnam's winning butter chicken, an Indian dish, utilizes a marinade with a blend of spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, garam masala, cumin and coriander, balanced with chili and yogurt. The chicken is marinated, pan-fried and bathed in a sauce of butter, cream, tomatoes, onions and the same spice blend used in the marinade." Sound good? You bet it is! It's a Patnam family favorite. It's a party in a bowl! Two out of three of our party ordered the item. Chef came out to greet and thank us. What an honor to meet a guy who Beat Bobby Flay. The other member of our party ordered a Marriott burger. All of us had soups: I had the crab chowder. Others had the chili and tomato soups. All good. Mohammad was our server. I know he's been at the Marriott awhile as he's waited on us many times. I just found out he's been there since the hotel opened. Wow. Go and try this great dish from Chef Patnam that beat Bobby Flay. One taste and you'll know why. read more

Stoked to tell you guys all about my latest nom adventure in Baltimore with the BF! We recently hit up Apropoe's in Harbor East to try their new menu, and we were really impressed with everything. To start, executive sous chef Kiran Patnam sent out a beautiful salad that contained baby lettuce, sunflower sprouts, goat cheese, homemade pickled red onions, radishes, and kalamata olives. The ingredients complemented each other beautifully, and I believe they grow the aforementioned sprouts here themselves! Moving on to entree no. 1: Cauliflower Ravioli with roasted eggplant, caramelized onion, and tomato coulis. Holy freaking crap, this plate was TO DIE FOR good. I can't even begin to tell you guys how much I loved eating this - it was, hands down, one of the BEST dishes I've ever had in my life. Who the hell knew cauliflower could taste so good? The texture was perfection - just the right amount of chewy - and the filling was magical. Next up, perfectly seasoned lamb with pea risotto in a mint parsley pesto sauce. This was my second fave dish & my bf's fave! I'm sorry if I sound like a broken record, but again, everything was brilliantly cooked. The lamb was tender and super juicy, and the accompanying sauce was heavenly! The risotto was flavorful and cooked all dente (as it should be, mushy risotto is the WORST). Main course 3 was chicken served with grilled asparagus, roasted garlic mash, and caramelized onion puree. This was my least fave dish of the meal, but I don't mean that in a bad way! It was still tasty, I just prefer the ravioli...over most things in life, ha. Andddd last but not least, pan seared branzino seabass served with spring vegetable hash and artichokes in a lemon mustard sauce. As you all know, I don't eat fish so I didn't get to sample this, but my bf told me it was exquisite. If the quality was anywhere near the other plates I'd devoured, I have no doubt it was delish. If you're a seafood lover, they also offer roasted atlantic salmon and jumbo lump crab cakes (!!!!) No meal would be complete without dessert. Although I only have shots of one, we got to try 2 different yums. The pineapple upside down cake (pictured below) will be presented with toasted coconut ice cream - they ran out so I didn't get to try! However, the cake was very moist and just the right amount of sweet. If you're a fan of fruity desserts, you'll love this nom, but the REAL star was the bitter sweet chocolate torte. Oh man, you'll take a bite out of this baby and literally yell, "what the f*ck!" It's THAT good, like I'm not messing around. Topped with orange blossom mousse, this will blow you away! I honestly could've done without the mousse - I'm basic so I would've rather had vanilla gelato with it - but it's straight up obscene either way. I HIGHLY recommend it!
