My friend and I ran into Anthony's for dessert after having dinner at a place nearby. The place is clean and modern, featuring a gleaming counter that calls to you when you enter. They have nice seating and a pleasant staff. We ordered a slice of slutty brownie cheesecake and a slice of apple crumb cheesecake. We also got a couple of drinks, I had a chai tea and my friend had the blend of coffee and espresso they call The Godfather. The cheesecake was fantastic. Nothing like the door stopper that you get from a certain chain place that weighs you down with cloying sweetness and density. The cheesecake at Anthony's is like the cheesecake made by an older relative that knew what they were doing in the kitchen, only taken to another level of professionalism. Love this place! What I love most about mom and pop shop, is that the manager and employees going around their restaurant and make an effort to know their customers. The service is friendly and the wait staff is very attentive and will come by asking several times if anything is needed. My friends and I came here on a very busy Sunday for brunch at noon. The place was packed and there were people waiting for tables so I'm glad we had reservations. It's a small place but they have tables set outdoors on the side walk which is sectioned from the streets. There's several heating lamps but I'm so glad our table was indoors. We were given our menus and hot teas and coffees. I had the quiche and potatoes. It was good. The desserts are to die for here. I wanted everything I saw....like literally so yeah, if you have sweet tooth and on a diet, don't look for dessert menu, cause you'll be tempted. We have been going to Anthony's Cheesecake for at least 12 years. My husband is a culinary graduate and was in the industry in every aspect for over 30 years. We both agree that the food is among the best we've ever had, always a culinary delight. Their menu is always accurate and mouthwatering in description and the deserts are the absolute best and keep getting better. The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and personable. The restaurant is intimate enough for date night yet family friendly with occasional entertainment. During the warmer months, there's outside dining with umbrellas and heaters provided as necessity demands. Anthony and Phil always make the time to chat with their guests and are extremely generous in supporting all of the local charities. We've never been disappointed and hope they plan on staying in our neighborhood for a very long time. read more

The tables are on top of each other and the people waiting to be seated have no place to stand. There's no front person, so it's a free-for-all until someone notices you. Even when someone does notice you, they'll blow right past you since they work in the back. They care more about getting a photo of the outside than helping someone who has reservations. Anthony's Cheesecake has the most delicious food! My friend and I went for dinner the other night. I enjoyed every single bite. I had a Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla, which came with rice & beans and a yummy green dip. I wanted seconds. We sat outside, of course, and the ambiance of Washington St was wonderful. It was a small side street with little traffic. They also had a live singer who did great. For dessert I had the Brownie Peanut Butter Mousse Cake. It was delectable. Ive had this place on my Yelp for sooo long. A family member convinced me to do brunch on a Sunday. I was excited. It took up a while to find since we had to park and walk. The place is VERY small but intimate. They had a cute valentines day theme set up. We were immediately seated and a guy with a sling on his arm sat us and was very attentive and helpful. He even opened our bottle of wine. So the food... this is where my 3 stars come in. I ordered the chicken and waffles with everything on the side, also with eggs. My family member ordered the apple pancakes with an omelet and potatoes. The food took a while to come out, but for quality food, thats what happens. BUT the quality of my food fell short. When the food was brought to the table, it looked delicious and plentiful. My food also came with fries. They were the best fries I ever had. My cousin enjoyed her food to the max. But mines was luke warm and my hard waffles. The chicken was flavorful but cold, the waffles were hard. I had to wait a while to get a servers attention but I dont blame them, they were busy. I asked the waiter to warm my food up and he did. Just to be served with the disappointment of a hot plate, luke warm food (still) and harder waffles. I gave up and just ate my egg and fries. To make up for everything, I decided to get some desserts to go. Since its in the name, I had to get cheesecake. I also got oreo tres leche, a birthday cake, and a plain cheese cake slice. LET ME TELL YOU, that tres leche oreo was BOMB! The birthday cake was really dry and the cheesecake was standard. All in all, I want to give this place another try in the future. So I've given this place several tries and unfortunately don't think I will be back. Cute ambiance and decent food, but the service is just awful! My boyfriend and I came in this morning after making a reservation for brunch and were promptly greeted and ignored as one of 3 servers took a table's order while we stood waiting to be seated. 5 minutes later someone finally sat us at one of the 9 tables. There were no QR codes or menus, but we were able to order a couple interesting items off their online menu. The coffee and french toast were very good and the baked goods on display looked amazing. The bacon, egg and cheese sliders were just okay. Food came promptly, but our server never came back to check on us. The restaurant had 3 servers as well as bussers for an extremely small space, so I'm not sure why we were completely ignored. We finished our meal and waited over 10 minutes for someone to notice before I flagged down the owner/manager to bring us a to-go container and the check. He quickly took care of us and seemed pleasant enough, but the staff just sucked! There is definitely potential here, but a big part of dining out is the service and this place epically fails in that department. Hope it improves. read more

I visited Anythony's Cheesecake because a friend had recommended this place for me to try. Oh wow, it did not disappoint! Our entrees were delicious and portion sizes were super generous we definitely had to pack the rest to take home. We were so full we couldn't eat dessert but we brought a slice home for later. I wasn't super impressed by the slice and for the price I thought it would be a bit bigger but I'll definitely be coming back for the brunch menu items alone. The place was vibrant and since it was Sunday brunch, all the tables were taken. However, Anthony literally pulled a table and a couple chairs out and made some room for us. That was top notch service. He was very welcoming and really took his time with us. The food was so good with a healthy portion size as well. I've seen all of there tasty cheesecakes online for some time now and once I saw they were participating in the Bloomfield Center restaurant week (7/13-7/19) I had to make my visit! Reservations: You can call or email Anthony (email on the website). On a Thursday at 5pm was a perfect time; no wait. Ambiance: For briefly seeing the inside of Anthonys, it's super modern and put together. They have tables outdoors; some with umbrellas. My friend and I walked in, stated we have a reservation and the host walked us back outside to show us the tables in which we got to choose. Food/Drink: You start off with complimentary bread and butter. Since it was restaurant week, we choose the pre-fixe menu which included an appetizer, entree, and a slice of cheesecake for $27.95! For the appetizer, I initially wanted the empanadas but they were only serving beef at the time (i'm a vegetarian) so I opted for the eggplant and sauce. I wish it was clear on the menu which kind of empanada it was because by it saying "house empanadas" i'm assuming I can order at least cheese. Even though I was bummed about that, the eggplant and sauce were AMAZING! I didn't want to order it at first but it's literally addicting; YOU HAVE TO GET IT! I was almost full but I had to make room for the rest of my food. For my entree, I ordered grilled shrimp fajita over spaghetti squash. I never ordered anything like this before so I was excited to try it. It's definitely that healthy dish that doesn't make you feel sluggish; I wish I wasn't so full so I could finish it but I did take it home for leftovers! The entree had cauliflower, bell peppers, broccoli, grilled shrimp, and more. Now for what I was waiting for, the cheesecake. The dessert menu was on a chalkboard easel so when it was time to order I went for the turtle brownie moose cheesecake. Again, they only had certain cheesecakes included with the pre-fixe menu which I wish was detailed on the menu which ones were. As the waitress went through the options my selection was the salted caramel cheesecake! When I say creamy and dreamy, this cheesecake is it! I finished the whole thing full and all LOL. Pricing: The pre-fixe price of $27.95 was great for all the food we received. We did order food to go in which none of the cheesecakes had pricing so I couldn't tell you how much each one was. When the bill came out it was a bit confusing because they handwrite them. We received two bills, one for the pre-fixe and one for the food to go. When I gave the waitress my card she then said that the bill is "plus tax," which made sense because the total was more than what I initially thought. Parking: Since outdoor dining takes up part of the street, street parking is limited. There is a parking garage right in front of the restaurant or a parking lot at the end of the block where I paid $1 for parking (free parking starts at 6pm) All in all, I cannot stop talking about that eggplant and sauce! #AnthonysCheesecake is a must! I knew I had to return after my visit because there are so many options. During my first visit we took the recommendation that was provided by staff. We had the Triple Layer Chocolate mousse cake. It was everything I expected and more! - delicious, fresh, perfect amount of sweetness. We also had a slutty brownie cheesecake (nickname) topped with orea cookies! You could def taste more of the cheesecake in this one. It's one of the most popular choices and I can see why. The next time around I tried the confetti cake. There are so many choices that I do plan on coming back. They take orders as well which is nice especially during the holidays. I hate to do this to a small mom and pop shop but I have to be honest. That's just who I am. So I read the reviews and was excited about trying it. I did go Easter Sunday so the place was packed at around 11:30 am. I was by myself and their were three empty two top tables. One of the owners told me that he had a list of reservations so unfortunately they couldn't seat me. I said ok and ordered to go. So while waiting for my meal I noticed that a couple came in who were not on the list of reservations and was seated. Hmmmmm. No sweat. Then I overheard a customer who called in and wanted to come and have breakfast. The owner stated that "yes we can take you if you come in now". Hmmmmm. I could be very sensitive to things because I'm pregnant. But I didn't see why I couldn't have been accommodated at that time when I literally sat at a two top the entire time that my meal was being prepared. Food: sigh.......... I ordered the cornbread griddle cakes. It was just alright. Nothing to write home about. I literally only enjoyed my chicken sausage. I ordered the short rib with eggs for my husband. Although the short ribs were very tender, it was bland and lacked flavor. I did Enjoy the potatoes. I thought I ordered a coconut custard pie slice. But it was like a coconut cream pie. Unfortunately I found something grey on the side of the slice. Don't know if it was a metal stain from the knife or mold. But I threw it away. 6.95 for a slice of pie that I threw away because I wanted to be cautious. All in all I really like small mom and pop shops and I'm sure they have great food. When I had to put my clothes back on, and return to exchange an Anthony's "diet" rootbeer for what I had originally handed the girl behind the counter, I was quite annoyed. I do like the little, round, cheesecake bites. My favorite is the one with the caramel topping, and pecan pieces. Unfortunately, my last three (3) visits turned up empty. Another amazing meat at Anthony's cheesecake ! Took my bestfriend this time, and we left completely happy with full bellies I had the rice balls and eggs skillets with vodka sauce. The sauce was delicious , the eggs were perfectly over easy, and the rice balls were fantastic ! The meat and the rice were so flavorful ! My partner and my bestfriend both had French toast special (which were both amazing.) my partner had the banana read French toast which had a nice buttery thin crusted layer. My bestfriend had the apple fritter French toast which he loved. For dessert, we had two orders of carrot cake (my favorite) and I tried the chocolate pudding pie. I tried: + apple fritter French toast (special) + pear grilled cheese with home fries + sweet potato hash and chicken sausage + cookie pie and cookie cheesecake The French toast was definitely the best but SUPER sweet so I'm glad I shared. Grilled cheese and hash were great. I didn't care for the desserts (not a cookie dough lover) but the rest of my party loved them. The kitchen separated by a red curtain. Bathroom door is in a bit awkward position facing the eating area. Good amount of choices and specials for breakfast and lunch. We ordered coffee, Anthony's BLT and chicken and waffles. We were looking forward to the cheesecake. The BLT was good. Arugula instead of lettuce, bacon was not overly cooked or charred, comes with avocado with a good choice of sliced wheat bread. The chicken and waffles was ok. The waffles were a bit soggy, chicken was well made, not dry and with a good amount of herbs. Both came with a macaroni side but with too much celery for my taste. Coffee was not bitter or stale. Service was up to par, very nice and helpful. We took the plain cheesecake to go instead. It was ok, creamy, not too sweet but needs a touch of citrus. Overall I'm stuck between a 3-3.5 stars. I see it as close to average than excellent. I'm rounding up to 4 for the nice people. We did come out with our coats smelling like food. But I would give Anthony's a recommendation. read more

The food was excellent and the portions were very substantial. I think you can BYOB, I saw 2 tables with bottles of champagne/sparkling wine on ice, but they do not serve alcohol. Finally got to try this place out for brunch on Sunday as it's been in my bookmarks for months. It is about 45 minutes from home but after reading their great reviews and seeing all of the delicious pics I was determined to go. The restaurant is very cozy but we were able to get a table for 4 upon arriving around 12pm. Now I already knew what I wanted before arriving but still looked over their menu specials and everything sounded delicious. Everyone else was struggling to make a decision because they had so many great things to choose from. I ordered the Cinnamon croissant French toast topped with strawberries and bananas with a side of cannoli cream. It also came with a side of crispy fried potatoes and some watermelon. This dish was so good... it definitely did not disappoint. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well and we talked about what we wanted to try when we came back which is always a good sign. My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast one weekend. It didn't seem entirely busy when we entered and there were a couple of tables empty but, the restaurant is terribly small. It didn't take long for us to be seated, crammed in with the other customers. However, it took more than ten minutes for a waiter to approach us with menus and to take our drink order. I had already researched the restaurant and knew what I wanted, it didn't take my boyfriend long to figure out what he'd like. We again waited awhile for the waiter to return to take our orders. By this point, we weren't too pleased with the lack of attention as other customer who came in either at the same time or after received faster service. Eventually, we received our orders. I ordered the crispy buttermilk chicken and waffles. I thoroughly enjoyed my dish, especially the inclusion of the pears. My boyfriend ordered a skillet dish that I can't remember the name of.
