You have to pay for your parking which isn't an issue cheap and clean parking lot. We made a reservation on the phone for 9pm. As we walked in we were greeted by a very nice young lady. Looking around they have 3 floors, the first is a bar/lounge. The 2nd is where restrooms are and the 3rd is the rooftop! It was a beautiful night so we were in the rooftop, they had a dj ( he was playing all the latest and greatest music) we were quickly seated and asked about drinks and appetizers. So folks there was 2 hiccups during our Visit BUT I will say this ( the STAFF and Manager exceeded our expectations while dealing with one of the issues. So the first issue was I explained to the waiter I'm a Diabetic and I am Allergic to Seafood. I said " please Diet Coke and sparkling water" so I can drink it with my whiskey . The wife had several different tequilas . We waited for our appetizers, within 10 minutes my fish tacos came out I looked at the food and asked my " is this fish???" She said "yes" so I ate 1 it looked like a chicken strip but the 2 nd one was 2 piece and I asked my wife are you sure she said " yes" I took a bite and ate half of it. I looked down and seen something orange I broke open the food and I said " this is shrimp !!?!?!" I then called the waiter called the manager and sent my wife across the street to Walgreens for Benadryl. Folks I afraid for my life!!! It was my wife's birthday and here we are about to run to the hospital ‍! But the manager and waiter were excellent!!! Kept checking on me making sure I was ok and thankfully I was!!! Next we started eating our appetizers and it started raining so we waited around by the bar had some more drinks. They came to us and told us we can go downstairs to eat and enjoy the evening and we did!!!! The DJ started doing his thing and we started really enjoying ourselves! Folks I recommended this place without a doubt!!!! They are considerate, empathetic, understanding and best of all Concerned" about their customers health and wellbeing! Then to top it off they gave us a 50% discount!!!!!!!! We were so happy about this I left the waiter a $63 tip'!!!!

The only thing I didn't like is that we were told we could only order from their Valentine's Day menu and not the regular menu. Their special menu had limited food choices. Other than that everything was great! Their picante guac was amazing and fresh- also loved the guava marg!

Now going strong for well over a decade (?!) - Cowan's is classy and cool and leans into its strengths. Easily the hippest and most-happening spot in Nutley (and the surrounding towns) for the 'mature crowd' that's probably more interested in mash and hops and wort than getting hammered and making bad decisions at last call. The (ever rotating) beers on tap are stellar. The selection of bottles (of the harder stuff) on the picturesque back bar are eye-catching (even if I never heard of half of them). They have indoor and outdoor seating. The place always has a cool indoor and outdoor vibe! The patio seating has colorful umbrellas on the ceiling. Please check out my video. It was such a beautiful day we had wanted to eat outside. Outside seating was packed. However, the manager brought a table out to the patio for us. Talk about excellent customer service! We had a delicious meal: Banana French Toast and a Pernil Benedict along with a Coconut Mojito and Cosmo. During our visit, the server kept coming around filling everyone's glasses with water. Besides HH & Dinner, Sonoma Bistro & Grill is great for brunch!

The interior is dated, but that is their charm as they have both booths and tables and can accommodate at least 150 guests at any given time. The Stack is all about Pancakes and steak, but today I had the burger with fries, Cole slaw and a pickle along with an Iced Tea. The service is friendly, fast and professional. They do a great job of hiring great employees and they have an incredibly loyal following with plenty of competition such as The Colonial, Tick Tock and Arlington Diner. i like their extensive menu and will stop by more often when in New Jersey. With dessert recommendations that were superb. I ended up getting the Tres leches and it was impeccable. I can definitely see why this is a local fan favorite and should continue to be!
