Great experience and food. This is a French toast flight. Lemon curd, cheese cake, and berries. Delicious. Try the crab cake Benedict or the chicken and waffles.

Came here on the reference of a friend who said she had a great brunch. I was in the mood for waffle so I stopped to through. When I walked in, there were a few patrons and I was greeted warmly by the hostess. Since I was alone I got choice of seating in any of the 2 seated booths. I ordered the waffle but customized it and my waitress was very patient and attentive. Never said something wasn't available or couldn't be substituted. My food came and I enjoyed it. Didn't think I would like the lemon curd but it was quite tasty and the tartness balanced out the sweet from the strawberries and syrup. The atmosphere was chill as a diner has that vibe. I enjoyed my time. Only negative I would say is the addle wasn't as hot as I'd like it. Otherwise I would return for another Sunday brunch. Seems like some tasty items on the extensive menu.

Great location!

The food was delicious and well seasoned. I ordered the chicken and waffles and was very surprised that it was a large portion of food for the price. All of the prices are decent and there is a large selection of menu items. I found out later on that this is a black-owned business, which is definitely a plus! The waitress Nayla was very attentive.

The fried chicken here is top tier!! The waffles were a bust imo, but the fried chicken totally made up for it! I've heard nothing but great things about Montclair Diner so I decided to meet a friend for brunch. The diner is located in the heart of upper Montclair! There's street parking which can be a pain but I was lucky enough to find a spot right across the street. The inside is old and dated but hey it's a jersey diner so I didn't expect anything else. We went on a Saturday and surprisingly there was no wait. The waitress we had was patient and answered all of the many questions we had about the menu. There's so much on the menu to choose from so it was very hard to decide on what to get. This is not your average diner!! She highly suggested the chicken & waffles so that's what I went with. If you decide to order fried chicken, keep in mind that it's cooked to order and will take time to come out. Trust me- IT IS WORTH THE WAIT! Sadly I didn't enjoy my waffle. My friend ordered French toast and it was absolutely amazing! I'll be sure to order that next time. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at MD & look forward to returning!

My buddy and I had brunch Saturday and as expected, all went well. The yummy french toast was delicious. The service was great and the location is ideal. I will be returning with friends and family regularly.

Food was okay, I ordered an omelet with home fries because they don't have hash browns. Server recommended the french -toast sticks I believe that's what their known for and honestly iv had way better else where unfortunately. My boyfriend got a hamburger he said that was good. The lemonade was freshly made and that was great it was refreshing. The server was really cool and recommended a lot of the food, he seemed to take pride in his lemonade hahaha I gave him credit because it was delicious. The reason why I'm giving it 2stars is because the place was absolutely filthy dirty and I'll probably never come back to eat here. It was so dirty that it seemed like they are just starting to neglect the place. The baby seats were so nasty I left my baby in the stroller. The floor was filled with black idk what it was .... And the tables were cleaned with dirty towels because of the stains on the table it was just horrible. I can't imagine the kitchen. they really let their gaurd down.

Hate to update with bad news. But this diner is sooooo inconsistent. It was really amazing the first few times I went. So good I brought more and more people to try the food. But it's just gone down hill from there. Multiple occasions I have ordered the same breakfast to go - egg, corn beef hash, potatoes. The portion sizes are highly variable. And they put anything in your box if you order to go. Dried up food. Burnt food. And don't call back to complain sassy mr rican has the nerve to catch attitude instead of trying to make sure the customer is taken care of. I ventured out of my comfort diner food once to try the meatloaf dinner that's highly praised and the only thing missing in the reviews was the trash can. Yuck. The diner itself is always freezing freezing cold too. Servers are always trying to kick people out. I went during the pandemic months and the server legit told was we had to leave, although the diner was empty, while my friend and I were still drinking our coffees. Complained to Elliott and he just said o sorry to hear that. Decided last weekend to give this place one more try. -_- My bestie and I ordered a simple breakfast. Eggs bacon potatoes. Food came out pretty quickly. but it was sooooooo soooo dry. The eggs were cooked to hell. And the potatoes omg. Seemed like they cooked those potatoes at the start of the pandemic and just decided to serve them that day. Like who is the "chef"? Why would you think serving a heaping lump of extremely dry, crunchy breakfast potatoes would be ok? No quality control of their food. They just serve anything. We complained and the waitress brings out one serving of new potatoes and says we can share them! The hell, we ordered two breakfast with eggs bacon and potatoes and both were dry as hell. So therefore you should bring out potatoes for both meals. Ridic. And the ones they brought out were no better than the first. Done with Montclair diner. TOPs will keep my money. Better quality food. Better service. Not inconsistent.

Came here on a cold winter day in the evening to grab a quick bite as we were in the area and wanted to try this diner. Place is not huge but not super tight either and has comfortable booth seating. Staff is super nice and helpful. We ordered a few things off the menu, everything was just okay: shrimp and grits was missing the flavor, my pancakes weren't flaky at all and the only thing which stood out was their sausage bug apart from that food didn't impress us.

A friend told me about this diner so we went yesterday. She raved about their breakfast items, I will have to try that another time. I ordered the garlic parmesan pasta with salmon (i wanted the shrimp, but i asked the server if it comes w/the tail on and sadly, yes they do - which is annoying, to me). Anyway, the garlic parmesan cream sauce was excellent, salmon cooked to perfection (not dry or undercooked at all), the broccoli was delicious but not generous, i could have used more broccoli and maybe add in some sautéed onions. The lemon chicken soup that came with my meal was absolutely awful - TOO much lemon flavoring, it was just completely inedible. My friend ordered chicken & pancakes as a combo and seemed to enjoy it! The service was good - a bit pushy leaving a hint that they need/want your table for the next patrons. Otherwise, it was a good experience. I am not in a hurry to go again but I LOVE the menu options. Glad I went!

The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is because they were under staffed. But even with just two servers on a busy Friday morning, they got the job done! We tried both the Classic French Toast and Yummy French Toast. Both were to die for! The perfect amount of sweetness and flavor! The parfait was also surprisingly good. While it was not aesthetically pleasing, the ingredients tasted super fresh and delicious! Definitely a must try in Montclair!

Three pancakes with Taylor ham

Went here for brunch on a Monday. Good, friendly, fast service. GF got three pancakes and Taylor ham. I got a turkey triple decker and subbed home fries for the french fries. Standard fare for a diner but they were both really good. We will definitely back to try more of the menu.

We were greeted immediately upon entering and made to feel incredibly welcome in such a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The menu is impressive, offering a beautiful selection of everything from breakfast to dinner. I personally loved the blueberry pancakes, and the scrambled eggs were cooked to absolute perfection. My loved one thoroughly enjoyed the chicken scampi; the ingredients were clearly fresh and high-quality. Our only small note for next time would be to request a little extra spice to kick it up a notch, but the flavors were already spot on. A few other highlights: * Cream of Turkey Soup: Absolutely delicious and a must-try! * Reese's Pieces Cheesecake: We ended our Sunday evening with this, and it was the perfect finale. The plate was even decorated in such a festive way - it truly felt special. What really made the night, however, was our server, Alexandra. She was a total professional and an absolute gem. You can tell she is an asset to the team and well-loved by the regulars. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality. We already can't wait to return! God bless you all!

The food is pretty good most of the time and the juices are very very good. Don't expect some gourmet meals though. After years (yes, years) of the classic "next weekend" promise as we cruised by, we officially pulled into the parking lot and let me tell you, it was worth the wait. Walking in feels like stepping into the kind of diner that stars in its own feel-good movie. Warm, welcoming, and buzzing with that comforting breakfast energy, the gentle clinking of coffee cups, the hum of happy conversations, and the smell of bacon working overtime on the grill. We went all in on breakfast because when you're at a Jersey diner, that's just what you do. The coffee? Hot, strong, and seemingly bottomless. My wife ordered a classic breakfast platter, and I went for a hearty omelet that was so fluffy it practically needed its own pillow. Crispy home fries, perfectly cooked eggs, and rye bread toast that was delish! a true breakfast balancing act. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and flat-out delicious. And the service? Top notch. Friendly, attentive, and on point without ever feeling rushed. Our server made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit. Coffee refills appeared like magic, our food came out quickly, and every interaction had that genuine, neighborhood diner warmth that makes you want to stay for "just one more cup." Prices were reasonable too! UUF! Lol!!! Honestly, we couldn't believe we waited so long. We've driven by the Nevada Diner countless times, but now that we've finally stopped in, it's officially in our breakfast rotation. Lesson learned: when a diner has been calling your name for years, answer it. If you're in Bloomfield and craving a breakfast that feels like a warm hug (with a side of perfectly crispy bacon), do yourself a favor and pull into the Nevada Diner. Just don't wait as long as we did.

Montclair house grill is essentially an elevated diner. incredibly modest pricing, big portions, and great service. I wish i could remember my servers name, a very friendly and funny older latin gentleman, but he kept the laughs flowing and made sure to check in on us often. i grabbed the tuna melt sando special. i really wanted to love this, but it had no flavor. it was incredibly bland. it needs seasoning. however, the plus side to this was the size. im not gonna lie, your girl got another dinner and lunch out of this sandwich (yes, the tuna was PACKED on this!). the cheese was your basic melted cheddar slice, which isnt nothing to brag about. It comes with a soup and i chose the matzo ball soup. this hit the damn spot. 1 big ball, a few veggies, and a very lightly salted chicken broth. simple, but to the point. i tried my friends wings. unfortunately she doesnt live for the spice life like i do, so she grabbed them bland, but i will say this, her wings were good. they were perfectly fried and had a great crust. yes, i did in fact pour tapatio on top of them. her onion rings were also fried well. i am not sure if theyre home made, but if they arent, whoever operates that fryer back there, knows their timing. you can bite into every onion ring and get an even crunch, and the skin doesnt fall off the onion. Let me tell you, i despise biting into an onion ring and i just get soggy onion but no shell. not here, montclair house grill keeps it in tact. would come back in a heart beat for the service and the simple, but classic dishes.
