Remember when Diners were open 24 hours? Not anymore. On this Saturday night, we went on a hunt to find one that was open and it landed us in Nutley. This was a blessing in disguise. Upon arrival, there was ample parking and everything was very clean. The woman that helped us that night was great. Always checking on us and not a drink was empty that entire night. That's a rare find! I was having a craving for tuna salad, so I went with their tuna salad club with sliced hard boiled eggs. Add a cup of gravy on the side to dip my fries in and this totally satisfied that craving. Everything was fresh and you got the perfect portion. Lastly, there was 5 of us and the bill came to about $100. That's unheard of for a solid dinner nowadays. Nutley Diner is a hit or miss for me. Pros: Service is quick, plenty of parking, large menu and daily specials. Lobster bisque soup was good when they offer it on the menu. Cons: Food is ok nothing that I plan to order over and over again. What have I eaten here that I can remember: Eggplant Parm with linguini barely had any sauce and was bland. It came with a side salad and I really liked it with creamy Italian dressing. Meatloaf was ok and bland as well If I come to Nutley Diner, I'm going to just come for breakfast next time. Decided to try the Nutley diner for breakfast and it was GREAT. I got the New Yorker bowl with steak, eggs, home fries, mushrooms, peppers and onions. The bowl was super flavorful and delicious and I was really surprised by the quality of the steak. Our waitress was super nice and gave us super fast service. First time trying this diner. I have to say that while it was crowded for a Saturday afternoon, we were seated fairly quickly. The BIG win? The Baja Turkey Burger! I haven't been able to find a place that makes a turkey burger from breast meat. I definitely can't do a frozen, ground turkey patty. I saw a photo on Yelp but the waitress wasn't certain so she asked for clarification. It was delicious and so were the huge, buttery, crispy onion rings. They are quick and they are good. Looking at the eggs I can tell they were going to be special lol. This is one of the better Diners in our area! Tops Diner in Newark is the best, but most people cant wait 2 hours on a Tuesday lol! If you want a hidden gem, this is the place! We go here decently often, at least once every 2 weeks! From the soups to salads, chicken to steak and even desserts, this place is amazing! I am not going to say that we have tried it all, but we probably tried about 1/3 of their menu so far lol! I haven't ever had anything that I really didn't like yet. The soups sometimes need a dash of SnP, but are pretty on point! Salads are great also, always fresh, and a nice variety of protein (chicken, steak, salmon etc) and toppings. They are always great! I will say that I am not a fan of their pot roast... But other than that, their entrees are pretty good! I am partial to their steak lol! It is not the best, but its nice! I also like their burgers, and if they have a special burger I usually get that. Their fried onion strings are killer! Their steak sandwich needs a little something, maybe melted mozz? The rest of their menu that I have tried is pretty solid! A ton more hits than the 2 misses. You cant go wrong with any of their breakfast either. Pancakes and waffles are pretty good. Omelets are a great option as well. I am partial to the oreo pancakes or the Colorado omelet lol! If we ever get it to go, we get some great breakfast sandwiches from here. I haven't Been in years and now I remember why The food is mediocre at best, we ordered lobster bisque Huge mistake first it was cold second they used flour to thicken and must not have blended it in because I got of mouthful of flour lumps and no lobster but maybe fake crab meat gross. We also ordered chicken salad club Tasteless and bacon was cold and probably left over from breakfast. On the plus side the service was friendly if a it forgetful. This diner is a staple in town. My friend grew up coming here and we decided to grab some dinner here today. Around 6ish, the parking lot was full but there's always the additional lot. We were seated quickly, tucked away comfortable in a corner booth. The interior is all newly done and has a very cozy feel to it. My friend always gets the same thing here, mozzarella sticks and a Taylor ham and cheese sandwich on a hard roll. I opted for the turkey Baja burger. Her order was standard, can't mess it up. I was nervous about my turkey burger because I figured it was a frozen patty. I was sooo wrong! This was a huge handmade turkey patty. It easily took over half the plate. The bun was hiding somewhere underneath. It was super flavorful and paired really well with the chipotle mayo and avocado it was served with. For 12 bucks, this is definitely my new go to meal here. I'm still full just thinking about it. The servers are very friendly here and I even saw one training a new staff member. They seemed like they were having fun and laughing over the menu, which is nice to see in the hectic world of serving. While you pay up front be sure to check out their dessert cases. The cakes are huge and the pieces of cheesecake look like they're scrumptious. I couldn't even think about dessert after my huge meal but everything looked delicious. Hello Everyone, My family & I visited Nutley Diner this past Sunday and boy were we taken aback. There was parking available, we walked in and we got seated immediately. Our waitress was very nice, I completely forgot her name but she's an older brunette. I'm extremely upset that i didn't take pictures of our food. I had a chicken sausage omelet w/ jalapeños and avocados, both my kids & husband devoured their food out of pure enjoyment. We will be visiting again and I'm looking to try something different. I came back to the diner now that indoor dining is (somewhat) allowed. Thankfully, the quality of food has not changed! First things first, yes the staff complies with the rules and tables are sufficiently spaced apart. We were here for breakfast and I'm happy to report that the corned beef hash was exactly done right. Other people at the table enjoyed banana walnut pancakes, omelets, and eggs with home fries. My favorite comfort food is Roast Turkey dinner. Tonight it was the worst meal I have ever had. The Turkey was dry, the gravy was so salty it was not eat able, the stuffing was also salty and in addition to a piece of egg shell being in it , the ends of the bread was all that was used and the broccoli had a strange taste. I went on a weekend for dinner and got seated at a booth. We ordered and got the food in about 15-20 minutes, which is reasonable for a busy weekend. The atmosphere was nice and lively. I got a garden salad and burger. The burger was very juicy and had a side of coleslaw and pickle. It's normal diner food, but does provide more varied dishes such as penne vodka or vegetarian options. The portions were big and good to share. The salad was fresh. The service was very friendly as they made sure everything was perfect. The price range is reasonable and food served hot like always. There is plenty of parking on the street or in the parking lot. I'm sad. I didn't want to decrease my review but I have to. We ordered a skirt steak panini and cuban panini to go. When we got home we got the skirt steak panini but I didn't get my cuban sandwich, I received the grill chicken panini. I was okay with that and since it's 1 hour after I ordered, it's too late to complain, and I am super hungry.... BUT what I was really disappointed on is that my panini was pressed on a ROLL.. a darn roll. Such a big no no.... I usually get it on a longer bread but no it was roll.. and we paid $11+ each, and I got a darn roll. Steak was okay but it wasn't much. My previous orders here, they would give me so much meat, but this time it was smiggets of steak, like left overs, more fatty cuts. For $11 a sandwich at Nutley diner I expected more from them.
