Side Salad, Onion Rings, Jim Dandy Fries
    Theresa M.

Nice local spot if you want a simple burger or sandwich. I ordered the Turkey Burger and the Jim Dandy Fries. Turkey Burger was really simple and was missing sauce in my opinion. Fries were pretty good. Husband got the ribs and said they were really good - meat fell off the bone. Would recommend coming here if you're specifically looking for really basic, simple food. NOTE: This place does not have waiters. They ask you to place your order at the counter and then they give you your food.

Ribs and Chicken Combo with Onion Rings

Got lost in Nutley and ran into this little gem of a place. Reminded me of being back in Texas. There's a little train that goes around the ceiling of the restaurant. Very out of the ordinary. Service was okay. Nothing to write home about. The ribs were fall off the bone flavorsome. The chicken left much to be desired. The onion rings were okay. Beer battered would've been a nice touch. Coleslaw was surprisingly delicious. Overall not too bad. I'd still return.

IF YOURE COMING FOR THE RIBS! DONT Went for the first time on a Sunday as I was told they have good ribs, and while, they were fall off the bone, they were kind of tasteless and burnt and the sauce had no flavor. My friend had a burger and it was over cooked and dry and tasteless. Complete fucking waste of money. And they don't even have any service. Music too damn loud and you have to order for yourself at the counter and they slap a menu in your face. This is fucking ridiculous and I will not be recommending anyone come here. A place with an identity crisis and bad food and no service. No wonder it was empty on a Sunday

The atmosphere is quite pleasant, good American music, the food tastes good, especially the Baby Rack BBQ. The attention is acceptable, the waiting time for the order is good. The small toy train that runs inside the Restaurant gives it an authentic touch.

Stay away!! This place is actually horrible...this bar is right near my apartment so my husband and I decided to walk there and get dinner and drinks. My husband ordered a grilled chicken sandwhich, but what he received was a DISGRACE-it was a literal piece of chicken in a bun that someone clearly sat on (refer to pictures). The chicken also STANK, so there was no way in hell we were eating it, let alone pay $15 for this. The bartender/server was super sweet and took it off our bill. But the food was a disgrace. Also, there must be a bus nearby that drops off all the local boomers and pedophiles-the clientele is bizarre and this creep was full on staring at me-my hubby put him in his place tho. Go to yesterdays down the street instead!!

The ribs tested like they are showily smoke and they fell off the bone and melt in my mouth. Jim should open up a new Location in TN with his ribs. The Buffalo wings are cooked just right and not greasy at all. The fries are plane I think the fries need to dipped in some Battle like at BJ in Teterboro.

"Chicken Philly Steak with Cheese" It was more bread than anything else! Not worth $10 at all!

Ordered a "chicken philly with cheese sandwich" Not worth $10! It's was more bread than anything else! Cheese fries and steak philly sandwich was good. Taste was good just don't think the price is worth it at all! Would definitely avoid doing carry out from here again.

See that we paid $13.90 for a total of 6 pierogies when it should have been 12 of them.

PLEASE READ This is partially a negative review for Uber Eats BUT mainly the manager who I tried speaking with at the Nutley Jim Dandy's. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL We ordered plenty of food tonight -- 2 of the items were the pierogies -- which we love from there. On Uber Eats it has 2 price options for ordering pierogies -- 3 for $4 flat and another option incorrectly labeled as a 3 piece but had a marker indicating + $2.95. We have ordered from them many times before and know they have the 3pc and a 6pc so we expected for $6.95 to get the 6 piece. I called and spoke to the manager (according to him -- should have gotten a name!). I explained the situation to him in detail and his response was "it's more expensive since you ordered it with Uber Eats" this is not true the service fees are not included in the price of the food.!! AND "our kitchen is closed already" -- i let him know that I live in town and asked if he could make it right for us on a future order and he did not agree to this. He completely blamed Uber and told me to call them rather than making it right for the customer. Customer service should be taught to a manager in my opinion. Still love their food though.

Pulled Pork with Cheese and Fried Onions

I was extremely disappointed in Jim Dandy's. From what I heard I was expecting a decent spot with quality food but this is was far from that. There was so many things on the menu that you start to wonder if they can actually make all these meals properly. I went with something that I believed would be a safe bet which was the pulled pork sandwich. I was wrong. The sandwich was a decent size but that's the only good thing about it. It tasted like it was heated up in a microwave. The price was extremely expensive for what it was and it didn't even come with a side of anything. I wasn't the only one who didn't enjoy the experience here. My friend ordered a cheeseburger that has no lettuce or tomatoes or anything other than the meat, cheese and the buns. I don't know if I was expecting a lot more but what I was asking for wasn't anything crazy. Overall, expensive, below par location that I will advise people to stay away from.

BBQ is not an easy business to run. It takes a long time to prepare, requires a great deal of attention and generally, people are just picky about it. That said, BBQ delivery is an even harder business to run. Based on my one and only experience with Jim Dandy's, BBQ is not their problem. The ribs were outstanding and fell right off the bone just like everyone else has said. The only problem with them is they were cold upon being delivered. This isn't a huge deal, but when you just throw them in styrofoam and don't wrap them in foil first, loss of heat should be expected. This place really should just stick to ribs. The sides aren't worth it. The person over the phone told us the fries weren't fresh and that the mac and cheese wasn't like Kraft. Not really. It was exactly like Kraft, only inside a breaded triangle. And also frozen. We noticed right away they forgot the baked potato, yet they packed butter and sour cream. When I called to tell them they forgot it, they actually asked if we still wanted it. Unbelievable. One hour later it arrived, without apology, and as Nathaly V. pointed out, she's had better from Wendy's.

Boneless wings. Buffalo and BBQ sauce on the side.

I was running late from the Newark train station and even though there was an empty table for six next to my family Annette told them they needed to move because "the entire party" hadn't arrived. My family offered to order since I was on my way and had texted my order, but Annette said "that was not the rule" and my 96 YO disabled mom could sit in a bar chair and wait. My sister explained that my mom couldn't get up into the chair to which Annette responded "I don't care. Those are the rules". Everybody else we encountered were all very pleasant. One other employee came over to tell us not to take it personally, "because she's like that to everybody". On the way out one fellow (he might've been the manager) said that she "was in charge of the kitchen." If that is the case, they would be best to put her in the kitchen and lock the door and not let her intimidate and harass customers, especially 90 six-year-old disabled women. She was in my opinion, a miserable, angry hateful womaAs far as the food. It was solid. The Chicken Savoy and the salad were good. The eggplant parm was different. The Italian bread was surprisingly poor. With all of the great Italian bakeries in the area they could easily upgrade the bread. We are one and done. They do have coffee so that's a plus. And the coffee is made with a French press. Very tasty. They have a good menu. Something for everyone. We started off with the guacamole app and clam chowder. The guacamole is plentiful and tasty. Also the salsa was delish too. My table patrons didn't like the clam chowder. They said it was too salty. For the mains we ordered the roasted chicken, hot chicken sandwich and the Cajun seafood alfredo The Hot chicken was divine and huge. You won't be disappointed with that one. Good amount of spice. The roasted chicken was lemon rosemary jus was delicious as well. I ordered the pasta which was supposed to come with jumbo shrimp and andouille sausage. As soon as I received my dish I asked the waitress where the sausage was, she couldn't answer but went to get her manager. The manager said normally it's under the pasta. Still, no sausage in the pasta. They apologized and made the sausage and added it to the pasta. I wish that was the only issue. The menu states that it's a cajun Alfredo sauce and hate to say but this was just bland. Not flavorful at all. 2 waiters recommended it but I'm not sure why. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5. Please look to have the servers better time the serving of entrees AFTER the starters are finished. I had the New England Clam Chowder and the Prime rib. The clam chowder was tasty but lacked clams. They added andouille sausage to the chowder to give it a nice tasty twist but this should not have taken away from the amount of clams expected in a clam chowder. Prime rib was a good thick cut. But served warm and almost at room temperature. Not exactly how I would like my prime rib. Shoe string fries were tasty. My boyfriend ordered the Clam Chowder and Shrimp Cocktail as starters, followed by Cajun Sea Pasta and a bunch of side dishes - southern Coke slaw, black beans and rice and the loaded baked potato. Shrimps in the shrimp cocktail was good sized shrimp topped with old bay seasoning. The pasta was seasoned just right, very tasty and delicious. Cole slaw was crunchy which meant the Cole slaw was freshly made and not sitting in the sauce for too long. Loaded baked potato was of good size and baked to the right softness. Black beans and rice was the only side dish that was a bit too salty but went great when mixed with the baked potato. Overall, we were impressed with Angelina's services, friendliness of the staff and quality of the foods.
