Great staff, super welcoming. Small place but enough to sit and eat comfortably. My friend and I stopped by for lunch to try their cheesesteaks, I got a chicken and she got regular. Both were good we just wish there was a bit more sauce to them. The bread is delicious though, super soft and crunchy on the outside. Their fries are great too, homemade and tasty. I'll definitely be back to try their disco fries. While we enjoyed this trip, I think I'll definitely come back to try their burgers too. They offer milkshakes too- which we split and it was a nice treat to finish lunch. This is definitely a place you can come to indulge in some cravings! read more

No Hanky Panky at Spanky's. We were looking for a burger place after a long golf tournament and Spanky's did not disappoint. A small dining room with several tables spread apart and sporting events playing on the television. A self serve refreshment counter with several drink options. The menu has several options with a special of the day displayed on the counter. I loved the cheese skirt and will go back to get another one! Stopped by here for a post workout meal after the gym. We ordered the bacon burger and the garlic parmesan fries and enjoyed every bite! The burger was juicy yet crispy from the bacon and cheese. The fries were also very good, with lots of parmesan on it. I also enjoyed their soda variety, it had a lot of fun flavors. For dessert we had their cosmic brownie shake, it wasn't my favorite it was just ok. Will come back again to try other options. Service was quick and friendly. Only street parking available. Sparky and the crew made this first timer feel like I had been coming here for years. The food here is all super fresh and made to order (there's no freezer here). My friend and I split one of the multi year award winning bacon burger, def worth trying for its uniqueness ( my favorite part of it was the bacon jam and the cheese curd twill). Second thing we had was their take on an Italian hot dog (hot dog potatoes onions and peppers) once cooked to order and delicious. The place itself is a casual sit down w take out available. I was looking for was a gooey, messy, Philadelphia style cheesesteak sandwich and this was not it. What I got was a mushy beef mixture that had some cheese and and a small amount of onions laced through it on a soft roll. The whole sandwich was soft. Not what I would call a real cheesesteak sandwich as compared to the famous cheesesteak sandwiches I've had in Philadelphia. The flavors were pretty muted. No strong beef or cheese flavor. Got the garlic parmesan fries too. Dry. Also muted in flavor. No garlic. Very little parmesan flavor. Needed ketchup. Judging from the one burger that I eat here, it is safe to say it deserves four stars. The bacon me crazy burger was super different and delicious. The cheese skirt with the bacon jam was spot on and the bun they use is different from your average burger bun. The man who took my order was not rude at all, however it seemed like he was in a rush even though it was only me and another customer in there. This environment seems to be a good hangout spot for kids who want to eat something after school. Prices were not crazy either. I am sio glad we finally have a real burger joint right here in Nutley! Before Spanky's Our go -to Burger was Boom Burger but since they closed the only alternative was fast food and we missed biting into a fresh made juicy burger We waited patiently, watching the sign in the window on Franklin Avenue saying that they were coming soon. The reviews for their Food Truck were great so we hoped a brick and morter wouldn't disappoint. I am thrilled to say that it did not. We ordered take out last night and our meal was delicious! Hubby got the Bun Burner Sandwich. Shaved beef, long hot peppers, provolone. cherry peppers, with roasted garlic spread. He loved it and finished eating before I even sat down. I got the Bacon Me Ctazy Burger, Food Truck Style. Equal parts Beef and Bacon patty, bacon jam, caramelized onions, cheese. They add thw add in the cheese in a way that it melts into the burger not plopped on top. When I asked that my burger be cooked rare tlhey told me they didn't really do rare but they accommodated me and the burger was perfectly pink inside. As a lifelong Nutley resident, I was very happy to see Spanky's add a fantastic option for burgers, hot roast beef, cheese steaks etc. right on Franklin Avenue. The menu runs from the "Raider Challenge" through a great lineup of salads. The Greek Salad combines fresh lettuce, tomatoes, black olives and cucumber (I suggest adding the freshly made shredded chicken on top) This will be a great place to grab food for the upcoming NFL Monday and Thursday games. I went here because i thought the food looked amazing on Instagram. I love cheesesteaks and i ordered a burger for me and my dogs. The cheese steak was excellent. The fries were great. My only beef with the bacon burger was it was really salty. I'm guessing it was the cheese and bacon but overall it was very very good. I will definitely be going back. read more

I was lucky enough to try Spanky's when they were up at the Alementary Brewery one afternoon. I don't often write about food trucks but this was off the hook. Great bunch of guys who still have their day jobs, they do this for their love of " THE FOOD". Their recipes are well thought out, using all top quality ingredients. The Italian Stallion egg roll may scare a cardiologist, but stuffing pepperoni, salami, ham, pork, escarole, provolone and mozzarella into an egg roll wrap. was pure perfection. HANDS DOWN, one of the best food truck\street fair items I have ever eaten! As for THE PORKY sandwich with it;s shaved roasted pork, sauteed broccoli rabe, sun dried tomatoes, and shaved provolone on a fresh baked round bread, it could have won a medal..... My husband and I have been ordering food from Spanky's for quite a while now. Spanky's started as a food truck and this year finally opened a restaurant. This review is of the restaurant and some of the food we have eaten from there (and seen) since he opened in Nutley, NJ. We have tried everything on the menu with the exception of the Raider Challenge (look at the photo and you'll see why... it's a lot of food to consume in 15 minutes!). To start, the place is super clean. We have NEVER had a greasy table or seen anything on the floor (crumbs, food, napkins, etc.). The staff is friendly and welcomes you like a 'regular' from your first visit. Now for the food... burgers and fries (hand cut) are definitely the go to, but everything is delicious. We recommend the Bacon Me Crazy food truck style if you are in the mood for an over the top burger! The cheese steaks are great too, and so are the salads. Grandma is partial to the grilled cheese which is perfection on nice toasty sliced Italian bread with a spicy pepper spread. Spanky always has specials and is quite creative with his food pairings and combinations, so if you order for pick up ask what the specials are. read more

I have been lucky enough to sample Spanky's Gourmet Grub previously from the Award winning food truck. The "bacon me crazy" burger and cheesesteak are two of my personal favorites. Was able to stop by the 3/4 store opening in Nutley during St Pat's Parade and as expected, Spanky did not disappoint! Despite the busy day, food was prepared fresh and quickly and the cheesesteak and fries were heavenly to the taste! Others sampling various menu items also spoke wonders of their particular choice! Shop is in the middle of Town of Nutley and aesthetically pleasing and super clean. Highly recommend this establishment to all as I promise you will be more than satisfied! What can I say?? We used Spankys for our daughters high school graduation party and what a hit. it's the next day, people still can't stop talking about it and we are still snacking on leftovers!
