What a great spot to dine before the show at the Wellmont Theater. We started with the amazing nachos and then had the two chicken sandwiches. My boyfriend changed the sauce for the avocado BLT to honey mustard. I actually didn't care for the honey mustard and probably would have preferred the garlic aioli start was supposed to come with it. My sandwich, the Caesar chicken was soooo good. Wow! I have found my new favorite burger place! I was blown away by their menu. Besides having a really nice selection of regular burgers, they have a whole plant based menu!!!!! We went on a weekday evening, there was only a couple of tables occupied with 2 girls attending. One girl was really friendly, explained the menu and had answering to any questions, while the other was not very friendly, helpful, or even patient. The food itself tasted amazing. I had ordered the spicy mozzarella sticks and the sunshine burger. The patty itself was very nicely cooked with a nice mixture of ingredients. The whole burger tasted so fresh. The spicy mozzarella was a really nice twist to just regular mozzarella sticks, they had a really nice jalapeno taste. My daughter was delighted to have veggie nuggets with French fries and said they were really good. My grandma ordered a plain hot dog and was surprised by the massive size of the sausage, she enjoyed her meal as well. I had ordered the hibiscus tea which was so refreshing, my daughter ended up getting one for herself as well. Overall, I loved the food and all the plant based options and will definitely be returning. Hopefully next time with better service. read more

Their chicken is always so delicious. We got the Korean wings and they came out hot and spicy, pickle chips came out super crispy and delicious, and guacamole was super fresh. I do wish the guac had more ingredients in it, seemed to be mostly avocado and it was a little one note. Also some of the chips were oily and all of them were just so large. Definitely recommend this burger joint if you're in the Montclair area. It was delicious and filling. I did a create your own burger and ordered fries to share. Their menus are on iPads that are disguised as menu books which I thought was really cool. I took one star off because the servers seemed a little aloof and standoffish as well as for price. There's an option to get wagyu burgers which I think warrants a higher price but everything else seemed a little overpriced to me versus what I was used to. read more

We finally decided to give Bareburger another chance after some lackluster experiences. I had gone to the website prior to see if maybe I could make a reservation just in case (Montclair on a Saturday night) but didn't see a way to do so online. When we walked up, I said oh we certainly did not need one. There was one table occupied and one person sitting at the bar, picking up. All but one table in the restaurant was filled with dirty dishes from previous diners, who knows how long. This is not an exaggeration. All but one was unbussed. There was another person in front of us waiting at the cash register, and a man behind the bar but also like 4 feet from the register said to no one "picking up or dining in". After no one said anything I realized he was apparently taking to me. I said dining in and he was like "oh". He then walked to the corner of the restaurant between two dirty tables and played on his phone for a few minutes. The restaurant across the street we are in now was packed with diners and had a few tables, all clean and set. Our food is coming soon. read more

The chocolate shake was good and delivered well. However, some of the sweet potato fries were undercooked and the onion rings were horrible. AND even the extra sauce I paid for was missing. Without the sauces they were just plain cheeseburgers. Came here on a Sunday afternoon with a large group because all other restaurants had a wait. It wasn't too busy so we were seated fairly quickly. The menus are so odd, they're iPads, but you can't order off of them. I ordered the honey brussells and an impossible shroom with added pickles. I'm not a plant based eater, but I was pretty surprised at how good this burger was. It's fairly close to the beef taste and texture, so I devoured it. The honey brussells were just as good and flavorful. The only thing I have to say is that this spot is pretty expensive for what it is, but I'd come back in the future. read more

Bareburger is cute inside. Sort of industrial style with interesting ceiling fixtures. They were not crowded on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. My sister and I both did Be My Burger (build your own burger). They were pricey, both coming in at nearly $24 each. We did add extras like grilled onions, bacon and vegan cheese so, that increased the price significantly. Our burgers were absolutely delicious. Cooked medium, not salty. We didn't realize they are double burgers so, they were huge. (Side note: we were surprised that there were 2 patties because we didn't request it). We also shared a large order of sweet potato fries which we didn't really need  because the burgers were more than enough. However, the fries were exactly how we like them; skinny and crisp. Service was exceptional and very friendly. We will definitely come back and have recommended Bareburger to my niece who needs to eat gluten free and her husband who prefers veggie burgers. Amazing service & delicious food! I dined here on a Monday evening for dinner, and my experience was a good one. The restaurant was 95% empty so it took seconds to get a table. They use iPads for menus which I thought was cool. The waitress we had was very nice and patient with us since we couldn't decide on what to get. We enjoyed everything we ordered! The food was served hot and fresh & didn't take too long to come out. I highly recommend asking for a side of garlic aioli for your fries because it will change your life! It's located downtown Montclair so you know the parking can be a challenge at times. There's metered street parking and a few lots available that are in walking distance. Of all the vegan/plant based burgers I've experienced over the years the beyond meat Bareburger is hands down one of the best I've eaten! You know the ingredients are top notch when you're not tired or still hungry after eating it. Even the sweet potato fries are delicious. This time, I had their sweet potato burger and fries for the first time. Other times, I've had their vegan burgers, vegan chikn nuggets and vegan milkshakes and I'll tell you this. Every time I'm in Montclair, I have either lunch or dinner here. I've literally been here about 5-6 times within the last 3 months and every time, it is so good. I've been here several times and have ordered takeout too. I'm surprised I didn't review it sooner. Came here with my girlfriend for a quick bite. I ordered my usual brussel sprouts with their new tempura cauliflower bites. The cauliflower was delicious! Crispy, tangy, and the perfect meat replacement I was looking for. If I could leave less than one star, I would. I recently ordered a $22 burger and it came with a slice of wax paper in the burger that I only noticed after a few bites. It made me sick. When I called.to complain, they offered to refund only my burger and not my entire meal that was over $100 for myself and two kids who's meal was also ruined by listening to me puke while they ate. This place has been on my places to visit, but I assumed they exclusively only have burgers that were of the other meat variety, but I was wrong, they actually have a huge menu and not only that there are several Bareburgers - a few in NJ and more in NYC. I also learned that this place is really popular, there was a bit of a wait and after we sat down, it was a line quickly began to form. You order on an ipad or if what you want is simple enough, you can just tell your server what you want. I was feeling a bit adventurous and the server was pushing the specials so I got the sweet elk burger. I was indeed sweet and had nice flavors along with all the good toppings - lettuce, onion tomato but like always nothing captures a beefy burger. I will say this was good and would not be opposed to ordering this again or trying perhaps a bison burger. I also got a chocolate shake which was excellent and came in a neat jar. One gripe is I got cookie crumbles in it and they charged me a dollar. It's always nice to know these things and I was not told. Overall it was great. So glad my friend suggested an evening dining here...as a group of friends, we're trying to eat healthy and are looking into vegetarian/vegan eats. Upon arrival, we're greeted and seated by friendly staff. The place is hip and decor is cute. There's not many tables so come here off hours or don't be too hungry because there will be wait time for a table. We dined here at 6pm on a Friday night, right before the crowd start rolling in so it was perfect. The menu is an iPad where you can browse and tap through the screens. Our waitress is awesome. Because it's my first time here, she went through the menu and gave us some suggestions and most loved/popular burgers. I had ordered the impossible burger with lettuce tomato and gauc. It was nice a juicy. Loved it! To share, we ordered the onion rings and fries and onion rings are delicious! Everyone was happy with their food order. We will definitely be back. Parking is off street and metered but it is free parking after 6pm. If you can't find a spot, you can certainly park at the private lots as well for a few dollars. read more

I wish I took pictures but honestly I was having too much fun. I went yesterday to the Office Trivia Night at bareburgers montclair. ITS BYOB. THE BAR IS NON ALCOHOLIC. Luckily we knew ahead of time and stocked up! I ordered the special mini burgers with caramelized onions and blue cheese. They were amazing!! They were perfect finger food to play trivia and eat. It came with fries. My boyfriend got the mini burgers of elk with jalapeños, those had a kick but he loved it. We also got onion rings that were decent. Food was overall a 4/5 but the atmosphere in bareburger especially with the tricia night gives it a 5/5. Check it out it is decently priced to, our bill was just over around $20 a person (6 people total) which isn't bad for montclair and a lovely experience :) read more

This was our first, and maybe last, time at Bareburger. It's a shame, too, because the food is tasty & cooked well. We had: Wings Burgers Fries Onion Rings Southern Chicken sandwich. All solid. Boylan's sodas and a nice house-made raspberry tea for drinks. Ambiance: contemporary urban. Again, on point. 2adults. 2kids. $88 before tax & tip. Pricey for burgers & fries. The bad: The service was an utter mess. Wait staff simply inattentive to our table, seemingly focused more on the take-out business. No one bussed our table until we stacked dirty appetizer dishes at the edge. Kitchen sent out our order in batches with a 12min gap between the first entree and the next. Our youngest child's food came last, 16min after our oldest child received theirs. We ate. Then we sat ignored for 15-20 min with a table of dirty dishes, until we had to flag a server for the check & toGo boxes. So... 1) you need an exPo at the window to manage your line. 2) you need 1 person doing take-out & the rest handling the floor 3) your wait staff needs better training. 4) your table layout needs adjusting as the 4-top in the back against the window is unusable according to your staff who repeatedly turned people away from it. Had a craving for a burger on a Saturday afternoon and realized I had never been to bare burger! We swung by and were greeted by the host and seated immediately. Wasn't really a crowd in there. We each had the standard and a side of fries. I opted for making my fries truffle while my fiancé made them bacon and cheese. These burgers were to die for. Wow! So juicy and flavorful and cooked to perfection. The fries were also delicious. Just a warning, I was stuffed for about 10 hours after this meal. So I wouldn't go here for a "light lunch" and then expect to be able to eat dinner lol will def come back when I'm no longer burger full! read more

It's a burger chain based on organic ingredients. It's absolutely fine. It's more or less on the level of other 'elevated' fast food burger joints. I'd liken it to a Zinburger only it's geared towards organic ingredients and it doesn't offer alcohol. Instead of a single patty, they're doing 2 quarter pound patties. They don't really cook to order. These patties are more or less well done. Their niche is organic ingredients and the choice of beef, ostrich, elk, or bison. From my experience, they all taste fairly similar, especially in thin patties that are cooked so thoroughly. You can chose from their signature combos, or create your own burger. I went with wild mushrooms on mine, a choice I simply wouldn't make again. I guess I was thinking the mushrooms would be cooked in some way, but they seemed like just raw mushrooms thrown on top. That's my mistake for failing to inquire. Sweet potato fries were ok. Would have preferred a touch more cook time to crisp them up a bit. Burger to bun ratio (brioche) is on point, especially with the double patty. Ordered lettuce and tomato on mine. Pretty chincy serving, with a very thin slice of tomato and a matching leaf of lettuce. Service was friendly. Person who appeared to be a manager was a bit of a control freak and a curmudgeon. Not a smile to be had by the manager. We were done eating a full 20 minutes before I was able to get anyone's attention to get us a check. My decision to pay cash led to an even longer wait, as the militant manager seemingly had the only key to the register to handle all cash transactions. Corporate policy? Trust issues? TBD! The ambiance is quite casual. The bar area seems silly and unnecessary given the alcohol-free setting. Perhaps that's for singles during rush time. Seemed a waste of space, as there are plenty of tables for 4 or more, but too few for 2. Not quite 4 stars, but better than 3, so a round up it is... Definitely a fine local option. Not sure it's worth a trip from out of town, especially given the parking situation. read more
