The ambiance is excellent if you are by yourself or with a group of friends. The burger and chicken sandwich were outstanding. The fries and onion rings were delicious. Everything was great. The only drawback was that they have Pepsi products. Not a big deal, but I prefer Coke. I needed something quick to eat since I was attending an event at the South Orange Performing Arts Center. I ordered the combo special for $10, which included a burger, fries, and drink. This cost less than a fast food restaurant and the food was much superior in quality. The burger was cooked well done per my request, it came with full toppings; fries were great; and soda was self service. Came here for the first time on November 7 for a burger. The place was very nice and looked clean. Joshua took my order and he was pleasant. I got "The Works" with an order of French fries. The fries were were good, but the burger needed seasoning. It did not have any flavor. I had it with onions, tomatoes, sharp cheddar and I don't remember what else it came with and all of that did not help with the flavor. I added ketchup and pepper and then had to add a little salt. Didn't work. I was disappointed as I don't eat a lot of red meat and I really wanted a burger. I believe that with a well seasoned burger, this establishment can have better reviews. OUTDOOR DINING REVIEW: On Sunday, my friend and I had lunch at BGR. It was the first time I'd been to the burger joint AND the first time I've dined anywhere other than home since March's stay-at-home orders. I was looking forward to it but - to be honest - also little nervous about being out. Long story short, BGR The Burger Joint in South Orange was a good choice - great food, friendly service, and very chill. A good reintroduction back to dining out. Here's the skinny: So you go inside BGR to place your order at the register, pay (contactless), and then go sit at one of the outside tables and wait for your order to be brought out to you. Since it's burgers and fries and casual food, the food is brought to you in a to-go bag (no tray since not really needed). BGR is good with safety protocols. You can tell they take it more seriously, or maybe it's more accurate to say they are more disciplined about it than other spots (which get points from me). Example, they have good/clear signage about safety standards/steps, tongs are used for condiment packets, there are antibacterial pumps, etc. Ok, that out of the way, I can talk about the food, which was very good. My friend and I both agreed that we will be back to try other burgers on their menu. I ordered The Works as a Burger salad bowl and onion rings (they make good onion rings). My friend got a cheese burger and fries - which were tasty (I sampled a few from her bag). I already know next time I'm going to try the lamb burger, maybe on a pretzel bun (there are lots of choices for bread) and sweet potato waffle fries. Well located on South Orange Avenue, street partaking available. It's very spacious with excellent customer service. Enjoyed brunches today. The sweet potatoes were on point, as well as the burgers we had. Burgers are just right. You can actually taste the spiciness and the bread was not soggy. First time here where I was actually getting myself food, OMG, Wellington Wagyu is unbelievable. After seeing me staring at the menu and looking confused, the guy at the counter suggested that and he was spot on. Not to mention when I asked for rare it came out barely cooked, which I love. I came to this spot for lunch with my sister. When we arrived I found parking nearby. We walked in and was served by a really nice cashier. I had a buy one get one coupon and they honored it. I ordered a hotdog with sauerkraut and carmalized onions and my sister got the chipotle burger. It came to $12. When we got home we dug in. The hot dog was supposed to be Nathan's but it didn't taste like it. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. All in all we had an ok experience. read more

I have so many things too say about this business, I was in here eating in with a group of 9 people April 20, around 6:28pm. I was check #153. The customer service there when I walked in to BGR was highly disrespectful. They seemed like they didn't care about there job and what they were doing. I was friendly and smiling the whole time when I was ordering but when I was ordering with the woman she seemed too be extremely rude and disrespectful. She was dark skin, with braids in her hair. Was rolling her eyes the whole time when I was ordering had an attitude not smiling or not caring like she worked there. The food was great but not what I was expecting, she never asked how would my burger liked it too be cooked. I go there all the time and there always seems too be super friendly and polite. The other woman who was tall with a red hair wrap on her head didn't seem nice eather. The younger gentleman seemed very friendly. I work in the food industry business in town as well and I would never treat customers like they treated me there. I called the store the next day and asked too speak too the manager about what happened, and I explained too her the situation and all she said was I'm sorry this happened too you next time you come in we can give you something for free. I still have the copy of my receipt. Highly disappointed and hope something can change. So I've been here twice now and the food is pretty decent. The first time I had a burger on lettuce which was cooked well and flavorful. The second time I had the salmon special with a side of asparagus. The salmon was ok, the portion size was quite large so that was nice. It came with a good tzatziki sauce by a little more of it would have been better. I loved the roasted asparagus! It was seriously delicious. Unfortunately I do not like that all of their eating utensils are plastic with no option for reusable. The bowl the salmon came in looked compostable at least and the burgers come in reusable plastic baskets but lined with paper. So it creates unnecessary waste. I guess they don't have a dishwasher?? ( My personal favorites- bison chipotle, bacon cheeseburger, western cheeseburger, regular cheeseburger, pretzel bacon cheese, the works, and Wagu Wellington). What I can say is no matter what burger you get, it always come out right! It's always a flavorful, juicy patty, and absolutely delicious. Such a shame - I live in town however I placed my order online at 11:25 and picked it up at 11:47am. As there was no one else there, and while they did have some other orders they were filling you would think that your food would be hot as it's coming right off the grill. The latest addition to the South Orange food arena. Judging by the decor, other patrons and staff team, are comprised of the local school - Seton Hall students. I went here for lunch on walk in and curiousity since it shares space with one of the latest brand new luxury apartments above. I went with the month special as it popped from the rest of the menu (which did have some interesting looking burger builds), the special - the Buffalo bleu burger - patty, brioche bun, celery, bacon, blue cheese, hot sauce. A very interesting combonation and but thoroughly enjoyed. The fries are decent but needed salt. Definitely eager to come for a return trip, and can certainly say it bests the towns former sole burger joint - Stony's. Both I find to be expensive but the options appear to be far more plentiful here. read more

I have come here twice in the last few weeks and both times have been excellent experiences all around. The first time I got the Lamb Harissa burger--top notch. Feta/tomato/tzatziki were all high quality and the lamb burger cooked to perfection. Today I got the wagyu burger with blue cheese and it was also excellent--cooked medium rare like I ordered and big juicy burger complimented a very nice bun. Not to mention, the fries were just the way they should be--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. What made the place really stand out was the customer service. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the outdoor tables they had set up outside were nicely spaced apart. They even brought the food out to you so you don't have to wait outside. They also have chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, and shakes made with real ice cream. I got the Mushroom Swiss burger, but the mushrooms were definitely from a can and not flavorful. This place seems to be a hit or miss depending on what you order. Staff is very friendly and management is generous to students, providing a discount and happily participating in fundraisers.
