Since 2003, the brainchild of the husband-and-wife duo team, Albert and Yanick Ranieri, have opened this premier restaurant and martini bar located on Valley Street in South Orange. Upon entering and translating from the French, a "butterfly" insignia floated above the bar, illuminating the various hues of the 57 martini and specialty cocktails offered. The interior evoked a sophisticated and modern vibe, with the lighting being subtle. Reservations were made by one of our party members calling the restaurant yesterday for some of us as first-timers. Greeted by the host, a table was waiting for us. The menu merges American, Caribbean, French, and Italian cuisine, leaning toward Southern and Cajun-style dishes. As an appetizer, my partner, our friends and I decided on the corn and crab croquettes. For our main meal, we opted for Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp with Maryland Crab Meat, Jambalaya, Coq Au Vin, Organic Roasted Chicken Breast, and Linguine with Shrimp. A complimentary assortment of breads with butter started our meal, which some of us washed with French martini. The food was delicious, and the sauces were flavorful. However, there was a slight snafu with the wording of one of the items on the menu, which was brought to the manager's attention. Listed was organic roasted chicken breast served with caramelized carrots, but what was received was the breast with part of the wings and carrots not caramelized. The service was wonderful, and our server was Mohammed. It was a nice time spent, which we could recommend.

Great Friday night vibes with Valerie Adams and the band playing. The place was pretty packed the entire night. My bloody orange cosmo was great... the first time. Okay, the second time. But the third time..... it was even orange. Clearly, I had three different bartenders. I ordered the jerk chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies.. it was just okay. Felt like they basically Slattered the jerk sauce over pre made chicken to make it jerk. Bread pudding was sweet, but good

Nice atmosphere, food was a little underseasoned for me. Service was 5/10. Drinks were good!

Sidecar was smooth and slightly sweet. Nicky's Mango Martini is the bomb refreshing and strong. Coming back as the kitchen opens at noon.

Amazing martinis! Terdoo was an excellent host and crafty bartender. We are coming back for lunch as I've been told that the scallops are the best in the city. It's a toss up between the Sidecar and Mango Martini.

    Stuff Jumbo shrimp and crabmeat....

My diner was not good, black own business should do better then this... You're going to serve Italian dish it should be equivalent to or better than anything you could get in an Italian restaurant.

This lady has lost her mind, 20$ for 5 small shrimp

Bad vibes and unseasoned food. Very low vibrational setting. And they add gratuity for subpar service .

Just walk toward the back and that's where the restaurant seating is. To start, we ordered the hot antipasto for two. I was really excited to try it, but honestly at least half of the dish needed salt. Our favorite parts were definitely the clams oreganata and the stuffed mushroom. For entrées, we ordered the Chicken Scarpariello and the linguine with clams. Again, the chicken lacked salt, but once we added some, it was good. Now the real star of the night was the linguine with clams wow. The flavor and sauce were amazing. We dipped the fresh bread they gave us into the sauce and it took the whole dish to another level. For dessert, we had the cheesecake and it was delicious. Our waiter, Santiago, was a delight. He gave amazing service, and even the person he was training was great as well. The ambience is very dim and romantic, which I loved. It's a nice place for a dinner date or even a relaxing dinner with family. Overall, I had a good experience and would definitely come back for the linguine with clams alone.

We had the fried calamari, almost best I ever had, fresh and crispy and tasty. I could have had that alone. Also had the stuffed mushrooms, very tasty. The table bread was fresh and we should not have eaten so much. A friend had the Veal francaise and it was tender and well seasoned. First time here and I will be back, big menu.

Our order included the following: * Deep Fried Brie served with caramelized onions: $15.95 * (2) Soupe à l'oignon Gratinée - traditional onion soup: $14.95 * Jambe D'agneau Braisée - new zealand lamb shank braised in port wine reduction served over israeli couscous, carrots, mushrooms and onions: $36.95 * Steak au Poivre/au Poivre Vert - two 4 ounce medallions of filet mignon with black peppercorn rub: $39.95 * Pommes Frites (hand cut french fries) $8 This place has the casual look and feel of a Paris bistro, and I really like the vibe. You can sit at tables or the large bar, we chose the former. The service was very good, accommodating and friendly. The food was nicely executed. My lamb shank was tender and tasty. I sampled the steak and thought it was nicely cooked, loaded with flavor and also very tender. The brie was tasty, and didn't seem to heavy, which was surprising as it was deep fried. If I lived in the area, I'd be a regular here.

The service was good. They make good cocktails and I a sazerac , something I last had in New Orleans, a long time ago. The ambiance is pleasant and parking is easy. The prices, about what you'd expect. We decided it was worth the gamble, and boy did we hit the jackpot. We loved the BYOB option, proudly flaunting local beers while most tables had a bougie bin of ice helping to chill their wines. As we sipped on our own version of bubbly, we started with a couple of delicious appetizers - meatballs and fried burrata. While both were great, the meatballs were the clear winner, served hot in a small cast iron skillet. Moving to the main course, the pasta ragu was another hit. It had a bit of a peppery undertone, but wasn't spicy, just a wonderful blend of spices that gave it a unique flavor. For dessert, I had an apple-based dish that was a special that night. While again another creative showing, I think I'd stick to some of the simpler options on the menu (like a Caramelized banana split - YES PLEASE)

Funny thing: drinks menu is on the dessert menu not the main menu. We ordered the grilled octopus to share. It had a good amount of char and was tender. The beet salad was decent, a bit overdressed. The mushroom soup was creamy and strong in flavor (a good thing). For entree, we had the entree size lump crab crepe, braised short rib, filet mignon and seafood fettuccine. Depending on who you asked, everyone preferred their dish over the other. The lump crab crepe had enough crab meat and shiitake mushrooms to be filling, and was served in a satiny cream sauce. The filet was cooked to order and served with scalloped potatoes that had a nice parmesan flavor. The braised short rib was very tender albeit a small portion, served with silky mashed potatoes and baby carrots. The seafood fettuccine has a little kick and ample seafood, like mussels, prawns, scallops and squid. Outside of the menu, they also have prime rib and a tomahawk steak for 2. We finished the evening with their special lemon tart - definitely tart and lemony - in a shortbread crust and 2 orders of molten lava cake with raspberry coulis and vanilla ice cream. Everything was delicious and we will definitely come back.
