    Apple tart. Completely inedible.
    Theresa V.

Possibly the worst Italian restaurant I've been to in more than 30 years. Veal was rubbery. Prosciutto was like chewing gum. Marinara was ok, but pasta not drained so dish was watery. I made the mistake of putting parmesan cheese on it and nearly choked, the cheese was so bad Apple tart looked like stew meat and had so much cinnamon it was inedible. The interior was dark, dated, and felt like a bad 1970s movie set

Great food, been coming here for decades. Today we had the bruschetta, eggplant rollatini, shrimp parm and chicken francese. Everything was fresh, the cocktail (Sapphire with a splash of cranberry) was "stiff" and just they way I like it. The portion sizes are good. It's home to Orange natives and a nice, intimate setting for a date night or business lunch.

I've come here for a couple Holiday parties for my job and each time it was just alright. We used to have them at a similar restaurant but Libretti's seems to have trouble capturing the magic of this other restaurant. All the things I compare with this former party spot, Libretti's kinda limps on. First the food. It's alright, baked ziti is decent as is the salad but the broccoli and pasta is kind of bland, sausage and peppers is decent as is the chicken marsala. The other restaurant had all this similar fare but it was just better and had a few more additions like fish. The staff on both my times here are prompt with cleaning up the tables and keeping the pitchers full but interacting with them is dry and dead. They all look like they were forced to work or face certain doom, they are short when asked questions and not helpful at all - as my phone charger went missing. I let one of the staff know and he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. How about asking your co workers? I asked my co workers from my party and no one knew so I'm pretty sure one of the staff here took it. I can't prove that so I won't hold it against them. Lastly, the bar. As nice as it is, the woman working it looked overwhelmed and was equally 'dead' when interacting with her. Usually Bartenders are a little bit friendly even when the crowd is on. She was alone appeared stressed and likely because of both of these service was slow. So despite this I think the food is ok and the bar is probably a fun place to hang out as there is a karaoke stage and has a nice intimate size but having been here twice for parties, I'm not sure it would be my top choice for dining or partying. Maybe just a happy hour hang out at the bar.

I had an awesome experience here. The waiter was a pleasure. I always find with white glove service they tend to over check but it was fine in this case. The food is classic Italian food and it was very good. Not typically the restaurant I usually go but I really enjoyed it. I had the lasagna it was delightful and the portion size was massive. Lasted a couple days. The prices were a bit high to me but overall good experience.

First time here. Expected the pasta to be a little more then what I had. For that size I could've gotten 2 meals for the same price I paid somewhere else. I paid $22 and some change. It would've been nice to offer customers some plastic utensils and napkins in the bag along with the food that was given. Now the pasta wasn't to bad, could've added some salt and perhaps cut the chicken a little smaller but otherwise it wasn't that bad. It was worth trying but I don't or can't see my self wanting more if they offered. The lady who helped us was nice & fast with everything only thing was we did ask to split the bill and it was still charged as full. I mean nothing to complain about but it's worth saying if I'm being honest about this whole experience. Just keep in mind the place wasn't bad. I'll give it a try once more. But this wouldn't be my first option when it comes to pasta. Anyways hopefully this helps you out when your on your search for pasta

Review: Café Faubourg - Montclair…read more Café Faubourg is one of Montclair's true gems--an authentic French bistro that feels as if it were lifted straight from a quiet Parisian street and placed right in the heart of town. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance sets the tone: warm lighting, intimate tables, and that unmistakable bistro charm that makes every meal feel like a small escape. The food is consistently excellent, starting with their hummus, which is surprisingly standout for a French spot. Smooth, flavorful, and beautifully plated, it's the perfect way to begin the meal and pairs wonderfully with their fresh bread. The steak frites is a must-order and easily one of the best in the area. The steak is tender and cooked exactly to preference, richly seasoned without being heavy, and served alongside crisp, golden fries that are everything you want in a classic bistro dish. It's simple, authentic, and prepared with the kind of care that elevates a traditional favorite into something memorable. Service at Café Faubourg is warm and attentive without being intrusive, contributing to the relaxed elegance of the experience. Whether you're dropping in for a casual dinner or celebrating a special occasion, the staff makes you feel welcome and unrushed. For anyone looking for an authentic French bistro experience in Montclair--excellent food, inviting ambiance, and truly charming service--Café Faubourg delivers every time.

The inside has both a main dining hall and a greenhouse, which feels like basically sitting on a covered patio with well kept shrubbery and ambient lighting. It's a neat balance of modern and open while still feeling cozy. I think my favorite dish is the ramp fava bean toast -- the umami from the purée balanced with the crunch of the toast and the brightness from the pickled ramps. I'd also recommend the steak two ways -- both cuts cooked perfectly to medium rare -- and the lobster linguine was delicately fragrant, buttery, and slightly acidic all at once. The chips and eggplant dip (kind of like hummus consistency) was kind of a fun, shareable starter too. I will say that I wasn't impressed with the ceviche or branzino our waiter recommended it. The branzino particularly came out a bit dry, and more of the tomato-olive-caper side or dressing would've helped. And while our waiter answered our questions, service felt a little more on the less attentive side.

A couple of people ordered sides of eggs and bacon and they were able to accommodate that as well. To drink, I had a couple of the non-alcoholic cocktails. They were both quite good.
