We visited Libretti's and overall had a really good experience. There's plenty of parking, and when you first walk in, don't be startled the front area is the bar. Just walk toward the back and that's where the restaurant seating is. To start, we ordered the hot antipasto for two. I was really excited to try it, but honestly at least half of the dish needed salt. Our favorite parts were definitely the clams oreganata and the stuffed mushroom. For entrées, we ordered the Chicken Scarpariello and the linguine with clams. Again, the chicken lacked salt, but once we added some, it was good. Now the real star of the night was the linguine with clams wow. The flavor and sauce were amazing. We dipped the fresh bread they gave us into the sauce and it took the whole dish to another level. For dessert, we had the cheesecake and it was delicious. Our waiter, Santiago, was a delight. He gave amazing service, and even the person he was training was great as well. The ambience is very dim and romantic, which I loved. It's a nice place for a dinner date or even a relaxing dinner with family. Delicious and great service. Neat place, looks kind of like old Italy We had the short rib ravioli, it was good, I didnt know what to expect, and it was plenty and left over. We had the fried calamari, almost best I ever had, fresh and crispy and tasty. I could have had that alone. Also had the stuffed mushrooms, very tasty. Big bar up front with Regulars elbow to elbow and a karaoke legend getting ready to rick the night. Our waitress was perfect. Not necessarily at her job but as a character. Possibly the worst Italian restaurant I've been to in more than 30 years. Veal was rubbery. Prosciutto was like chewing gum. Marinara was ok, but pasta not drained so dish was watery. I dined at Librett's on Sept. 11 with a friend who was visiting from California. Neither of us had been to Libretti's in over 20 years. I ordered the "Chicken Libretti," which is described as "Garlic and lemon in a white wine, butter sauce." I expected chicken breasts dipped in flour, then egg and pan-fried served with lemon and white wine/butter sauce. What I got was what looked like chicken nuggets from a fast-food restaurant in an unappetizing sauce. The nuggets were hard as a rock. After leaving 90% of my entree uneaten, I would expect the server to say something like, "was there something wrong with your food?" before taking it away, but all she said was, "are you finished?" What can I say it's a landmark. You know what your getting being a traditional, old-school Italian restaurant. Ive been coming here for over 20+ years on and off. I recently visited and nothing changed. The food is your classic Italian offerings with their house dishes. The food was good and portions big. The calamarie appetizer was crispy, tender and delicious...Not to mention big enough to share. The clams orgenato was a well balance of their breadcrumb mix to clam in a delicate sauce. The entrees being amazing as well. It's a great place to go with family, friends or date nite. It offers that old school feel with great food. I highly recommend this place. The staff is super friendly and quick. We ordered the Cáprese Salad to start and it was Fresh. Our server Danny was awesome. My Husband ordered the Filet Mignon in a Madeira Sauce and it wasn't all that and honestly overpriced for $50 which only included two morsels. I ordered the Chicken In madeira with potatoes. It tasted ok, however it did come with a pasta that tasted so nasty. It was like they poured cheap store bought crap all over it. It wasn't a horrible experience but not worth over paying. I've come here for a couple Holiday parties for my job and each time it was just alright. We used to have them at a similar restaurant but Libretti's seems to have trouble capturing the magic of this other restaurant. All the things I compare with this former party spot, Libretti's kinda limps on. First the food. It's alright, baked ziti is decent as is the salad but the broccoli and pasta is kind of bland, sausage and peppers is decent as is the chicken marsala. The other restaurant had all this similar fare but it was just better and had a few more additions like fish. The staff on both my times here are prompt with cleaning up the tables and keeping the pitchers full but interacting with them is dry and dead. They all look like they were forced to work or face certain doom, they are short when asked questions and not helpful at all - as my phone charger went missing. I let one of the staff know and he just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. How about asking your co workers? I asked my co workers from my party and no one knew so I'm pretty sure one of the staff here took it. I can't prove that so I won't hold it against them. Lastly, the bar. As nice as it is, the woman working it looked overwhelmed and was equally 'dead' when interacting with her. Usually Bartenders are a little bit friendly even when the crowd is on. She was alone appeared stressed and likely because of both of these service was slow. So despite this I think the food is ok and the bar is probably a fun place to hang out as there is a karaoke stage and has a nice intimate size but having been here twice for parties, I'm not sure it would be my top choice for dining or partying. The server named Cole was professional, paid attention to detail listened to our requests, gave us enough time to drink, eat the appys, took the food order, served the food hot, followed up with coffee / dessert. Food was perfect , broccoli rabe was awesome, and so were the potatoes and peppers hot and mild. Main course Everyone was given enough food and leftovers. Can not say enough about the place . Ambiance were perfect , karaoke soon followed with good singing . Parking was just fine . Prices were reasonable, cannot wait to go back for more genuine cooked food , thumbs up for this place . First time here. Expected the pasta to be a little more then what I had. For that size I could've gotten 2 meals for the same price I paid somewhere else. I paid $22 and some change. It would've been nice to offer customers some plastic utensils and napkins in the bag along with the food that was given. Now the pasta wasn't to bad, could've added some salt and perhaps cut the chicken a little smaller but otherwise it wasn't that bad. It was worth trying but I don't or can't see my self wanting more if they offered. The lady who helped us was nice & fast with everything only thing was we did ask to split the bill and it was still charged as full. I mean nothing to complain about but it's worth saying if I'm being honest about this whole experience. Just keep in mind the place wasn't bad. I'll give it a try once more. 11 years since I've been here wow has it really been that long? Post Covid and they are not running full power just yet with the bar still closed, no music in the lounge and with tables substantially socially distanced it is a bit too quiet for me. Even so the hostess remains the same as does the ownership as we stroll in on Friday night a few weeks ago. Service staff seems all new with many young faces. Menu is basically the same but we came here for a couple of staples. Had a shrimp scampi to start was as good as ever.... Both Entrees came with Salad or pasta we both choose the salad was was same as I remember. Boneless chicken murphy was entre # 1 with potatoes, peppers, onions and mushrooms. A massive dish that still hits home. I went for the Veal Libretti which was your stuffed veal scalapini with sopersada, mozerella in their homemade mushroom? sauce. I found the veal to be just a little tough, but the sauce remains the staple. Kind enough to speak with one of the chefs who did tell me what separates this from traditional marsala sauce.. Libretti's is an old school establishment and it was great to finally eat here. They have a parking lot adjacent to the building and one across the street. It has a full bar and multiple rooms. We came for an early dinner mid week and the place was really quiet. A softer bread and butter was served and then a delicious bruscetta on crusty Italian bread. The shrimp cocktail appy was 4 nice sized shrimp with cocktail sauce and I enjoyed the salad with balsamic that came with my meal. For entrées, I ordered the salmon arturo which was a nice sized piece of filet which was cooked well, although a bit plain. The meat lasagna was a large portion and just delicious. The red sauce on top was amazing as was the mixture of cheeses and meat. That was worth the trip. We didn't have room for dessert. The service was excellent and we had a great time. read more

Went to Libretti's in Orange with a friend tonight. I had a Groupon that was expiring and my husband was overly busy, so I grabbed my friend and went. Nice old red sauce place. The waiter was just adorable. We started with eggplant rollatini which consisted of 3 sizeable pieces. I had gnocchi bolognese, and my friend had mixed shells. I'm a bolognese lover and mine was excellent. We each ordered a side salad with a delicious creamy balsamic vinaigrette. No coffee or dessert and we both took the majority of our food home to our waiting husbands. My only minor quibble is that they charge for the small side salads a la carte, but they did bring us complimentary bruschetta and it was great. The groupon was 45.00 and got you one appetizer, two entrees and two glasses of wine. While the neighborhood isn't the greatest, the restaurant is definitely worth visiting. They have a decent bar, too. Lots of Sinatra playing throughout. They offer karaoke on some nights and schedule other special events. I didn't look at the banquet rooms so I can't comment on them, but the place is nice. read more

Ah.. the nostalgia of Libretti's brought me back. It's been around a very long time and I grew up coming here for special occasions. Now, the decor and menu are outdated and uninspired. There are so many other (and better!) options close by with fresher, tastier, and cheaper food. We ordered delivery (pandemic meal) of veal parm, lasagna, and shrimp scampi. Everything tasted bland and previously frozen. Lasagna was super mushy. Shrimp and veal were rubbery. I had horrendous heartburn ALL night, even after 2 doses of Alka-Seltzer. Ugh! They also forgot my garlic bread. To boot, the meal was expensive for what it was. At $26 for shrimp scampi, $23 for veal parm, and $16 for lasagna, you expect fresh food. This definitely wasn't- examine the menu. There's no way all of it is fresh. I no longer have confidence in their food. Sadly, I will no longer go to Libretti's. They have not stood the test of time. They're over the hill and have lost any passion they once had. I'd rather have McDonald's (which I am not a fan of) than go back and have the heartburn inducing, frozen food I had from Libretti's. read more

I recently moved to the area. A friend recommended Librettis and I first tried them for takeout. Excellent. I have had an early dinner twice and recently while coming in, my wife fell and the staff and customers were very concerned and called an ambulance. Fortunaetly she was fine, we still had dinner. I have been in suppliing Restaurants in business for more than 40 years and have been to some of the best Italian Restaurants. Librettis is by far one of the best for food and staff. read more

I would like to caveat this sad review of a New Jersey institution with the fact that their customer service remains awesome and incredibly inviting and the reason why I and my company will likely come back despite of our recent experiences. Soo here it goes. You would think that a place claiming to serve authentic Italian food would be able to make basic Italian dishes worth a damn. The answer is no. On the last two occasions I tried their pasta puttanesca and their carbonara. Both fundamental dishes have failed to reach the quality of a truck stop Olive Garden. Uninspired canned tomato sauce or cream instead of appropriate basic ingredients. Puttanesca poor quality ingredients are simply buried with a heap of canned tomato sauce. It was bland and flavorless disaster! Seafood could be smelled tables away. I smelled it coming back after leaving the table. It was bad tasting and embarrassing! Their carbonara was just as bad. basically canned Alfredo sauce instead of traditional egg based sauce. A sad approximation that sacrifices flavor in favor of cooking convenience. It took me a week to put this review together because it took that long to recover from this culinary disaster. Dear Libretti's Please do better! read more
