I think someone dropped a quaint little cafe from the south of France in Millburn, NJ! Perfect ambience. Beautiful artwork. Food was manifique! The apps were delicious, we shared salad with Apple Brie. For entrees we had the halibut served with potato and vegetable, and a hanger steak served with pomme frites. Full house of Bugs in my coffee. I see 7-8 on the surface level. Don't go here, it has huge food safety problems. I asked the lady to return my money back. She said the reason I have bugs in my coffee is because I brought the coffee outside( I only left store for 15 seconds, just around the corner if you know what I'm talking about). She got extremely mad at me and making gestures with her hands. However I didn't apologize to her since I think I'm the victim here. I think It's either the ice or water or cafe machine, I'm not exactly sure but it might be in your food too. This small restaurant packs a real punch. You may as well be in France when you're here. The owner speaks to you in French half of the time which only adds to the ambiance. The decor is cute and cozy. Somehow the place seems small like a warm hug, but there's also enough room to easily accommodate a party of 6. The food is très bien. We tried 4 dishes: zucchini quiche (perfectly custardy), pain perdu (delectable), crepes americaines (yummy), and chicken paillard caesar (juicy chicken, crisp fresh lettuce, and lovely light dressing). PROS: -inside is just charming, love the warm decor. -food is very tasty, I thoroughly enjoyed everything. -coffee is Illy brand! -you can get items to go (croissants and macarons and baguettes). -prices are decent for most items. -service was nice. CONS: while the service was NICE, it was slow and I needed to remind them on some things that were forgotten. Now I know in Europe the service tends to be slow and you eat longer meals and hang around more...not sure if that rule is supposed to apply here. -many of their plates are chipped (I know this is nit picky, but one plate had 3 chips...might be time to replace some of those plates). -the pressed orange juice is extremely tasty, but the amount you get is a champagne glass amount (which it is very pretty and you feel fancy, but it's really not that much for $4) Overall I was very pleased with the experience and I would definitely come back! read more

Used to be a great local spot, a gem. Not anymore. They don't want your business - uber rude server and arrogant owner; patrons, go find your own menus; served water after being seated for half an hour; couldn't even be bothered to open our wine (bring only screw caps!) - they should just shut down and not waste patrons' time. Horrible attitude and service. Can't comment on the food as nothing, not even bread, was served. When we told them we had been totally ignored and were leaving, they were stone silent. The manager of the restaurant was extremely rude and spoke to us very rudely despite several misses and mixups on his end. He also had a threatening body language and made our table uncomfortable. The food was strictly okay but it did seem overpriced for the portion size. I wouldn't risk going here as there are several better options nearby. If I can give ratings on service and food separately I would say, service is 5 stars. Food wise .. I had the mussels and it tasted old and overcooked. They were soo tiny inside the shells. Not to mention that it came out cold. My dish was supposed to be a hot dish but oh my the cold dish really brought out the taste of old mussels. I had diarrhea once I got home, there were some that's over cooked and there's one that wasn't cooked properly. I would always order mussels in all restaurant that I go to and this is my first experience having it this way, Would I come back and give this place another try?? The food here is incredible. The steak and frites were delicious; the steak moist and full of flavor in the reduction and the frites perfectly crisp. We also ordered one of the specials which was a sea bass and mashed potatoes. Whatever sauce they put on it I want to insert directly into my veins because it was seriously addictive. I am still slightly confused by their menu with the un, deux, trois listing. 1 & 2 are served as appetizer size (aka, bite size) while 3 is half an entree. To make it even more confusing their are two prices next to the 3's, i.e. $17/24. I'm not really sure how to interpret this. I didn't see the bill at the end of the night, but I was never asked while ordering if I wanted a smaller or larger dish, so what does the price difference correlate to? Salads were delicious. But at $12 a pop for nothing TOO special, or large I was slightly disappointed. I ordered the Salmon as my main dish which was actually phenomenal. Unlike my counterparts my Salmon came on a bed of vegetables whereas the chicken and meat were served a top Mashed potatoes. One person in our group ordered the short rib... you can say short again. Not sure how that one tiny piece of beef can fill anyone up. We ended our night with the warm chocolate tort which was delectable, albeit small as a shared piece. Prices: Off the Un list, ~$12, deux list, ~$15-17, trois list ~$20-25. And bare in mind that no single dish will you fill up, unless you're anorexic. I love everything about this restaurant. The atmosphere is so cozy and it really is a small taste of Paris. It is relaxing, but intimate. Every part of the restaurant has unique touches which I really appreciate. The food is always spot on and never a disappointment. Their mushroom soup, duck, and mussels are always a solid choice. The price is very reasonable, despite the other comments; the owner/wait staffs are very pleasant. The atmosphere is quiet (great for a meaningful conversation), the food comes out a bit slow, but it's sure worth a wait. I can't rave enough about the chicken sandwich here, I haven't tried anything else menu because it's that good. The French baguette is authentic, the chicken is crispy on the outside (with bursting flavors), and moist on the inside. i am literally shaking right now after the horrible treatment my boyfriend and I just experienced. We were sat at 6pm and the waitress (who was very nice) took our orders. After receiving our appetizer, and being asked by the owner's wife how our food was, we were suddenly asked by the owner to move to other side of the restaurant because a larger party was coming. it should be noted we had been seated for about an hour before this request and already finished the appetizer. The owner then blamed his wife for making the mistake of seating us there and then stated "she always makes mistakes", then smirked and said "women" as if women are incapable of doing things correctly. I personally found it offensive as a woman, and as the only black couple in the restaurant being asked to move. We will not be returning here, I am very disappointed with how we were treated. Food was good, but service was horrible. Maitre De/owner was rude, unnatentive, and service was slow. When he screwed up our order he did not care and implied it was our fault. The bus boy he spent half the night berating tried to fix thing so we gave him the tip in cash directly as opposed to the owner/maitre de acting as our waiter since he was so incompetent and rude. He decided he deserved a tip for himself and added one to our credit card after we paid which I found when I checked my account later. He is the type whom gives restauranteur's abad name.
