Went with a friend for lunch. Ordered a grilled cheese $12 and fries + $2. The waitress charged me over $31. When I got the bill, it had three random items that didn't make sense so I went up to clarify and she ended up trying to make excuses. I looked over the menu again to calculate how much each item was plus tax and tip. My friend ended up paying for both our meals and was overcharged as well. Waitress claimed it was tax, 18% tip, and credit card fee. She gave herself her own tip, not giving us the option of what we wanted to tip. Not sure if they are the same owners of the one in Metuchen but looking over their reviews, it looks like they scam people often. Don't like shady places ... Never again at this place. read more

This place is easy to miss, but you shouldn't! What an cute little cafe! Tiny inside but tres adorable! I see some poor reviews about the service, but that was not my experience. Friendly and quick! Breakfast was my meal of choice and I really loved it! The French Toast (Pain Perdu) was perfectly bite-sized and just the right amount of sweet! It would be an easy finger-food meal for a kid, too! Lovely place for lunch. I decided to take my daughter here on her day off so that she could have some French food. I think she fell in love with the hot chocolate but everything we had was very good. I had the Gallette Briard - smoked turkey, tomatoes, sour cream, swiss and brie in a crepe. My husband had a Sandwich au Jambon de Parme, and pea soup. Everything was fresh, delicious and the service was great. My daughter loved the decor in the restaurant. She's taking French in school and is hoping to get to Paris in a year or two, so this was a little taste of that. read more

Before I start this review, I understand small businesses are suffering from the invisible enemy. My family owns a restaurant, so I have first hand experience. But there are simple things any restaurant can do in terms of hygiene that this place didn't, which seems like a bare minimum request if I'm being honest. I went here for dinner and I know how incompetent the French are, but dear lord are they bad with food! It's a BYOB and we brought some wine...... that took the waiter 30-40 minutes to open. The kicker? He gave us wine glasses that were still soaking wet and just looked grimy. On to the food-- I admittedly know nothing about French cuisine, but who does? Needless to say, the food that arrived in front of me looked like my pup's breakfast. Should I have expected this? Probably. Should this be served to humans? Absolutely not. This may be the place the stomach bug was born. The reason this place earned 2 stars instead of zero was because, despite his incompetencies, the waiter was extremely nice. The woman behind the counter was as well. I read some reviews that the staff was nasty, but that certainly wasn't my experience-- they definitely meant well and seem like nice people. Always tasty delicious here. Got the Ham Quiche with fresh mixed salad, Cheesesteak, and Sausage, bacon and egg crepe, but French style. The American language is not as appealing as the French versions of our food ordered. And last was the fresh raspberry with orange and berry sauce crepe. We went on Friday night, seated right away, with only one server. We were in and out within 1 hour. We've come here many times including the restaurant in Metuchen and we were always so pleased with service and the quality food. And we'll continue to do so in the future. read more

We stopped in on a Friday night at 9:30. It was late but they close at 10 so a half hour before closing didn't seem like an outrageous time to come in. We were greeted by the hostess / server who said "hi we're closing at 10, were you going to sit? I can't stop you from sitting but if you didn't that'd be great. Would you like something to go?" She was so inviting that we decided yes, we're going to sit. There was one other party of 2 sitting in the restaurant as well. We ordered a strawberry nuttela crepe and attempted to order an espresso and a cappuccino but were told that the coffee machine had been turned off but we could have iced coffee if we want. A few minutes later it appeared that the owner turned the coffee machine back on and then behold a miracle, we were served hot coffee. The crepe came out within 10 seconds and was cold which leads me to believe no one was inconvenienced to make a fresh meal during our arrival. Also, as we were eating, the server received a call from a Marie and I only know this because she was loudly projecting her phone call to discuss the fact that unfortunately she would be unable to close early because there was still a table of two in the restaurant. The two stars is generous because it's cute in there and the coffee was good. If you don't want to serve patrons until 10pm then don't be open til then. read more

Fun Cafe to stop at for crepes and some cafe of course! It's a decent size spot to eat in, very warm and cozy inside. The inside is, as expected, set to look and feel like a French cafe. Great service and the menu offered up some fun options, savory and sweet. We chose to go for some sweet dessert here but I could see myself going in for a full meal. One crepe is easy to share but you could also tackle it on your own. It was cold when we went so we sat inside and grabbed some coffee as well. The coffee was well made and served in a sizeable cup with some extra drizzle on top. Nice little touches on all the items. You can tell there is care to what is served to you here. Updating my review because I had a really disgusting crepe and the waitress could care less. I've never had a smoked salmon crepe where they COOK the fish. The texture was gross like cat food and the taste too salty. When I asked the waitress if they use smoked salmon or cooked- she said they put smoked salmon in but the heat of the crepe cooks it. No. This was fully cooked. Maybe they put the salmon on the crepe as it sat on the hot crepe pan because it was definitely cooked all the way through. Anyway I left all the fish out but instead of apologizing they just made an excuse. Won't come back to give it another try. Already had multiple bad experiences here that outweigh the few good. Stopped in for an early dinner. Ordered milkshakes, crepes, French onion soup and fried shrimp. Crepes were "ok". French onion soup had no cheese, it wasn't hot and it looked like they just opened a can of soup and threw it in the microwave for 30 seconds and served it to me with two slices of stale bread. The shrimp was tasteless and not entirely cooked. The shakes tasted like they made them with powdered strawberry and to top it off they included the tip in the bill without stating it or describing it on the check. If it wasn't because I noticed an extra item listed and questioned the server, I would've ended up tipping double for a lousy dinner. Never going back. read more

I was in Cranford for a doctor's appointment and wanted to grab a quick lunch before I head to it, so I popped into Cafe Paris. I was the only one there at 12 pm which should have been a sign. I ordered a grilled chicken caesar salad. I'm not even sure what I received. You can see from the picture that does not look like grilled chicken. It sure didn't taste like either. There was barely even any parmesan cheese on the salad you can see it tucked under one little leaf. What kind of caesar does that make? Not pictured was my overpriced fruit cup that contained really just grapes and a piece of honeydew. I took two bites of the salad and ate my grapes. Will not be back. read more

Zou Bisou Bisou! What's that got to do with Cafe Paris? Well, it's French and that's what you'll want to do to those crêpes! The walls of this cute little cafe are covered with murals depicting well-known landmarks / skyline of Paris. Natural light enters through the storefront glass. The server was Asian and she might even be the owner. She was nice and gave us good service. On to the food/drinks (see photos): 1) French Toast. It's got the word "French" so it belongs at Cafe Paris, right? Heh. The thickness of toast was substantial enough but not too thick. Most importantly, the middle had just the right amount of sogginess! 2) Crêpes. I had strawberries, blueberries and raspberries with Nutella in the ultra thin pancake wrapper. These were very tasty and delicious! 3) Coffee was rich, dark and robust.... mmmm a perfect brew to start your day. All in all, I recommend this place for a pleasing space warp to Paris highlighted by delicious crêpes, french toast and coffee. read more

A stunning little hidden gem! I've never been to Metuchen really, was invited to concert and stumbled upon this incredible little place looking for a quick coffee and soup on the way. Not only was the ambience completely genuine with the decor so charming and quaint. The girls running it running around briskly speaking in French, but the menu was perfect. They had all of what constitutes a Parisian cafe with all the necessary American fusion additions. We only ordered soup and a bubble tea drink (irrelevant, I know!), all was fresh and nuanced and absolutely delicious. We told the girl we were in a hurry, everything arrived shortly, promptly and perfectly. I would definitely come back here to try other things. Worth coming to Metuchen now. I was so disappointed with my meal this afternoon. I have eaten here before and it was a wonderful experience. I ordered a hot vanilla chai, it was so milky i couldn't even taste the chai. This really isnt a huge deal as not too many places who offer it know how to make it. What really ticked me off was the steakum sandwich "meat" they used in my sliced cheesesteak sandwich. Are you kidding me right now? If you are going to offer something on your menu, at least have some self respect and use real and fresh ingredients. Don't substitute because times are tough. I love Cafe Paris! It's a charming little cafe in downtown Cranford. My cousins and I frequently go here for bonding sessions or simply for ice blender drinks. The atmosphere is very nice, with beautiful paintings by the owner. You feel as though you are in a Paris! I usually order a quiche which comes with a small salad. The balsamic vinaigrette dressing is zesty but compliments the salad very well. For dessert, I usually order the nutella or pear crepe. They are sinfully delicious! I think this is a nice place to eat and chat with friends or a cute first date. They also have a location in downtown Metuchen. read more

They literally served us 15 pieces of restaurant depot grade fried shrimp (as 3 entrees; 5 shrimp each) for $80. Nothing French about it. They put iceberg lettuce under it as garnish and they even diluted the cocktail sauce with ketchup (I can only assume to save cocktail sauce?) I'm usually not this harsh with restaurants but this is the worst meal I ever had for $26.66 a person. I could have literally got a box of fried shrimp from any chicken spot for $5 and probably got more shrimp. read more

A dreary Sunday morning, brought me and my family here for brunch. The outside is a cute tone of welcome to our kitchen. However, I am not sure what we were expecting as far as quality, but noting the rave reviews from other yelpers and wanting to have a bottle of champagne with our OJ, viola Cafe Paris it is! The BYOB policy that is all over this area (cranford) is a great perk to keep the meal price tag low. Plus the menu prices are very nice. I saw nothing more than 16$ and that was just 1 item. Most are in the 12-13 range. The history of the restaurant is compelling as the owner is from Paris, and hunts local markets for her ingredients. I think i caught a glimpse of her toiling away in the kitchen with that traditional French chef poise! The interior is decorated with murals of Paris, which seems like a little girls bedroom walls, but the place is spacious with nice large tables. We were one of 2 parties in the whole place. This MUST be a well kept secret so don't let it out! As I said we didn't really know what to expect, but what we got was a solid food experience. I cannot say that it was "brunch" as they offered an entire menu of traditional French treats...onion soup, to beef bourguignon, to sweet crepes to savory crepes and many choices in between. So if you are looking for the NYC brunch"ie" experience this is not really it, but don't despair they execute a VERY nice meal--it was exceptional really!! For further reference they have a full coffee bar as well, and many pastries to take away...or eat in if you like. With 5 in tow, 4 of us had the traditional buckwheat crepe called galletes. they are filled with anything from veggies, to meat, to seafood. I love that this place serves the food in a French portion style since when I saw that my choice of gallette had 2 kinds of cheeses i thought I was going to get a Denny's style cheese explosion. How pleasantly surprised i was to see just a sprinkle of 2 cheeses over my gallette--total bonus. That was great because we had room to share a sweet crepe at the end, and boy was it worth it. 1 in our party got quiche and she seemed to like it as well. All the plates were clean at the end of the meal...as was the champagne bottle LOL!! I was commenting to my family (who is Quebecois--thus food connoisseurs) and they loved Cafe Paris and we cannot wait to go back and try something during dinnertime!! read more

The place is nicely decorated, it's small but I didn't have to wait for a table. I went there on a Saturday morning and ordered a Chicken and tomatoes omelet and a cafe au lait. The food was very good, the omelet was served with a salad that seem fresh and had a very nice dressing.Overall, I was pleased with the food. The service was ok, I only saw my server when she took the order and when she brought it to the table, never came back to ask if everything was ok or ito pick up the empty plates. I had to walk to the register to get the check and pay. I found it to be expensive for what you get, I paid almost 20 bucks, you could get the same at any other place for 10 bucks.
