Decided to come on Thursday morning to have a nice breakfast for my birthday and my parents anniversary. Even on a weekday morning, the dining room is full of people. The table wasn't cleaned before we sat down, and we were given the wrong specials menu, which we found out after we tried to order something from it. We were also brought the wrong coffees, but drank them anyway (still tasted delicious). However, our server was friendly and checked in frequently, and all of our food was delicious. I chose the goat cheese frittata, which was packed with cheese and mushrooms! My mom had the cannoli french toast (more like a dessert than breakfast, but so worth it), and my dad had the biscuit sammy with sausage. His only complaint was that there was too much hot honey on his sandwich that it drowned out the other flavors. My mom and I both loved our food. Overall, I would give this place another try, just come very close to opening to try and beat the crowd. read more

Stopped in the other morning to try out Almost Home General after seeing so many posts. To start, place is very cute with loads of seating. Staff were very kind and very helpful!! They provided suggestions which I love. Ordered an iced log cabin. Loved the drink!! Only downside, even though it was iced, felt like warm. It was delicious regardless. Just felt like more ice was needed. Loved the positive sayings on the cups. Needed it that morning! Ordered an OG breakfast sandwich and that was delicious. Little pricy, but filling. Came here on a Thursday A.M. to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. Glad it was a Thursday as when I pass by on weekends, the place is jammed. We were immediately seated at the end of a long table with a mom and two babies at the other end. Luckily, these were content babies. The music's pumping bass originally concerned me, but within minutes someone lowered the sound system. We ordered two bees knees coffees and a a tropical lemonade. The coffees brought out were shaken espresso, but we drank them without complaining because they were so good. My husband's biscuit Sammy with hot honey looked amazing as did the goat cheese frittata and canolli French toast, a special that day, which my daughter and I shared. While I normally wouldn't pay 80 bucks for breakfast, this was visit was perfect for celebrating 32 years of marriage and my daughter's 26th bday. read more

This place has been trending a lot, so my partner and I decided to give it a try. Service was amazing, the host got us to sit in right away with no more than 15 minute wait. It was crowded but it also gives to time to order stuff and sit while you wait for your table. Ambiance was great, I like how the restaurant gives it an aesthetic look so the it being built as a garage & back in the day vibe. I loved how they had a collection of vinyl & a bunch of books. Food, was absolutely yummy. No disappointments for the first time, my partner ordered french toast & I had ordered the almost home breakfast plate. The french toast so good, I actually didn't know it had whipped ricotta & I actually don't like ricotta but looks like this time I had no idea it was that! Which was sweet for me because it breaks the shell on things that I don't like. It tasted more like whipped cream. I loved it. The berry compote also gave it that touch. The almost home breakfast plate, I enjoyed so much because of how the eggs were cooked & the potatoes were soft! I'm also a fan of sourdough bread so that with butter I had finished my plate. 10/10 food. The drinks we had ordered cereal latte, which would be the cereal of the month & then a strawberry shortcake matcha. The cereal latte was sweet, it tasted more like a mocha latte. I give it a 8/10 on that. The matcha tasted okay, it was more watered down, I couldn't taste the matcha much, the shortcake crumbs were in the bottom and on the top so it gave it a little sweet flavor to it. Not much though. Although this place can be a 5 for sure, unfortunately I was disappointed as we were called "illegal aliens". NOT but any worker. It was a customer. It made me feel uncomfortable I wanted to leave right away, but it had nothing to do with the restaurant itself. I would come here again though, to try something different to go. read more

We live very close by, and this place seems to be packed whenever we go past. We were able to give it a try one weekday lunch. Fortunately the weather is still warm so they had the large front space open. Its a nice, bright and airy location. That said, some of the furniture is surprisingly already a bit dirty (especially the sofa was a little gross). Service could use some improvement. They are friendly, but not very organized. We had multiple people approach us when we entered, but still took a little time to finally be seated. We had at last 2 waiters come to the table. And the waitress took forever to collect our bill too. Food was tasty, and looked nice. Pricing was reasonable for the food. Drinks were a little overpriced (my baklava latte was over $8). Did taste fairly good though. Will add this place to the rotation. read more

Excited to see this new brunch cafe open up on the south side of Westfield! Such a cute space - this spot definitely focused on their aesthetics, with bright, inviting decor and pretty, instagrammable drinks. With the recent warm weather, the big garage doors have been open, which gives this spot a nice mix of indoor and outdoor. While the atmosphere is 5 stars, the drinks and food are a little closer to average for me. The specialty drinks are rather pricey (averaging $7-8), and I thought my iced matcha tasted a bit diluted. Still good, but I'll have to try hot next time. I also tried the baklava latte, which was alright, but I didn't enjoy the pistachio clumps at the bottom at the end. You can order at the counter for takeout or talk to a host for a table. Note that this spot gets very popular at lunchtime on weekends, and parking is limited. Luckily there's easy street parking nearby. read more

Thank goodness, that I took the time to visit Almost Home General down in Westfield. It is a GEM and let me recommend it before I even start the review. Almost Home is a trendy cafe that has gorgeous wall decor, a comfy couch (if you want to enjoy your order without a table meal), and incredible food. They also have an adjacent parking lot, which was justifiably packed. Our Server was Maddie and she did an exceptional job throughout the entire meal. She gave appreciated recommendations and her coworkers kept us comfortable and satiated. All three of the beverages were nicely presented and thoroughly enjoyed: Pistachio Latte, Pumpkin Spice Latte, and a Shaken Espresso. Personally, the Shaken Espresso was VERY GOOD. It was served in a tall glass and the cinnamon, once stirred throughout the entire glass, elevated the taste to deliciousness. Now, onto the entrees: Blueberry Pancakes (two buttermilk pancakes, topped with blueberry compote, whipped ricotta, and powered sugar). I was told, that these were the best pancakes they've ever had. My entree was the Ricotta Toast (house whipped ricotta, topped with roasted tomatoes, local NJ honey, and balsamic glaze). This was my first time having Ricotta Toast and it was better than any other Avocado Toast I've ever had. The ricotta was smooth, creamy, and the glaze gave every bite a pleasantly sweet addition to the already delectable selection. Almost Home General has skyrocketed to the top of my breakfast/brunch options and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, again. If Westfield is too far, they have other locations (Westwood, Jersey City, and Lincroft). Oh, and btw, they all have Google ratings of 4.5 and above. Nuff said. read more

This was a very cute restaurant. I got the garden veggie omelette without cheese and a hot moon milk which had turmeric and ginger in it. I also shared the crispy smash taters side. The drink was soothing, I love ginger. The omelette was solid. The bread that came on the side was so yummy! The crispy smash taters needed seasoning. Most of them were just whole and a bit undercooked. I believe there is a location closer to me so I'd be open to trying it again! read more

Our group came in on a Sunday late AM and it was packed! Luckily we were able to snag a couch for the seven of us to sit in. We decided to order from takeout since it was a lot quicker. I ordered the ricotta toast and my fiancé got the croissant sandwich. I wish they had a text system or something else to notify you that your order was ready. They called out our names but we ended up missing it over the hustle and bustle of the place. Regardless we both enjoyed what we got and we equally enjoyed the Iced Log Cabin I got! It is pricey for a breakfast place but I had previously been to the Lincroft location so I was expecting this going in, especially since it's Westfield. I think I enjoyed this experience better than Lincroft though. If we're around the area, I would circle back again! read more

I really wanted to like this spot, but unfortunately, it missed the mark for me. The two drinks we ordered were not good, and the omelette was disappointing as well. We also had the steak, which was undercooked, and the egg served with it was too runny for our liking. Our server was very sweet, but not very attentive. He seated us but didn't return to take our drink order or check in after the food arrived. It would've been nice to be offered condiments. Ate here once for breakfast and have stopped in a few times for fancy lattes. Not overly impressed yet. Lattes were just ok and extremely- wildly sweet (coming from a sugar lover). I felt my pancakes were ok, airy but dry ish, if that makes sense. Definitely didn't have enough berry compote on them. Have not yet tried a lunch dish. I have never smelled so bad after leaving a restaurant until trying this place. While the place honestly has great menu selection with fun drinks, the service has been so slow and I left the restaurant reeking like I had worked in a kitchen all day. I have never smelled so bad to the point that I needed to wash my socks and bra afterwards. Such a cute place but just put a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). I am a request customer at Almost Home in Westfield, NJ. we have had the pleaser of having Nayeli as our waitress. Since we've become regulars nayeli always greets us with a smile and a high five for my nonverbal autistic 6 year old. She always has our table ready, knows our beverages of choice, and has my son's French fries cooking as soon as she sees us walking to the front door. I was having a pretty bad morning but the staff was warm and upbeat (even though they were just opening when I got there) and it turned my morning around. Me and my cousin saw this place just opened and decided to go there today. The place was cute and the staff were friendly. I got the Clucken Russian with a side of fries and my cousin got the pancakes with a side of bacon. The waitress was raving how the pancakes were better than IHops (she used to work there). We trusted her judgement and were excited for our food. We also got the Cereal coffee which was coffee with applejacks on top of it... a let down. When we got our coffee, there was soggy cereal at the bottom of our cup. When the food got to the table it looked promising. My cousins pancakes were not even fully cooked in the center. The chicken on my sandwich was so thick that it was so chewy and felt uncooked. As I continued to eat it, it was uncooked in the inside. The sides were probably the best part of the whole meal. The bacon was good and the fries were really crispy. Some of the fries were so hard I thought I was about to break my tooth. When they brought over the food they brought the check with it which felt rushed and very weird. Overall, wouldn't come back here, I was disappointed. read more
