Great brunch spot to catch up with friends! I actually was stopping by to visit a friend on my drive down to DC. The ambiance is great and you don't feel like you are cramped next to other tables and the staff were prompt on checking to ensure everything is going well and gave recommendations which I may have to return to try as the portion sizes are very generous.
I had been to Toast in Montclair several times but finally tried their Cranford location - consistent experience! Cranford location is airier and brighter - doesn't feel as cramped! Our waitress was great with timely service and great recommendations off the menu. I went with the California Scramble - good but wish there were more eggs than the huge portion of potatoes (although they were delicious!) Our table also split the pancake flight - we subbed out the Lemon Poppyseed for the seasonal pumpkin pancake and holy cow were the good! Pumpkin and Carrot Cake Pancakes were fantastic but the Red Velvet left something to be desired. Overall a great spot for brunch with something that is sure to please everyone.

We brought my dad here for Father's Day and I must say the wait wasn't bad at all. I ordered the Crab Hash (with the egg fried hard as I'm not a fan of runny yolk) and it was really good, it just needed a little hot sauce. My toast was slightly burnt but not too much that it ruined my meal. The ambience is very warm, and inviting, I'll definitely be back

What an exceptional breakfast spot! That omelette was DELICIOUS! Hearty and sizable with fresh sautéed peppers and savory sausage chunks. The hospitality of a hostess right from the door is warm and friendly. The aesthetic decor is modern yet inviting and cozy. My favorite part though was the stellar Turmeric Cafe Latte... so good! Definitely a great atop for good eats.

This place seems to only take walk ins so be prepared to wait about 20 minutes for a table. The wait staff was accommodating and quick. I got an egg n cheese on a brioche bun which was very filling. The hot latte was also much needed considering it was like 15 degrees outside Overall, a solid brunch spot that I would love to eat at again!
I came here for brunch with my best friend, son and myself. It was our first time there and I must say that the experience was amazing. The waitress, Ms. Megan was very attentive and friendly. The food was nice and hot and delicious. The menu had a lot of selections to choice. I will be back to try other items on the menu
This is my first time at my local location, which I never even knew was here. I've been to the Red Bank location before & absolutely loved it. A large venue with a bright & modern diner feel in downtown Cranford, so metered street parking is what you get. We had Belgian Waffle, Bella Nutella, Crab Hash, Gourmet Grilled Cheese, and a side of Maple Bacon & Breakfast potatoes. Food was better than most, & I remembered once I started eating that I am not a fan of their syrup. Hard to describe why. Odd, I know, lol. It's not a deal breaker though. Also their house hot sauce is a great blend of heat & flavor. Our server Kevin was great too. Overall a nice go-to spot for breakfast or brunch. I wanna come back and try their lunch options. Love this little breakfast spot I always order the bacon, cheddar and broccoli scramble egg with home fries. It's very good although sometimes it can be dry I guess depends on who cooks it. The staff is very friendly and constantly checks on you I never had a problem. The restaurant itself is very modern and minimalist I like it. Our server was the absolute best, Atalie was the sweetest and kindest young lady. She was very helpful in our decision making and whatever we needed she made sure she got for us. We started with the cinnamon buns, they looked good but were a bit cold and hard. All of our beverages were good. Make sure you have someone to share the French press coffee with because it's good but a lot. All of our meals were good and flavorful. The Lobster roll was a bit dry and needed mayo. The crab hash was tasty and plentiful. The red velvet pancake was fluffy and good. The French toast I would've liked but I received the 2 butt-end parts of the bread, so I wasn't too much of a fan. My favorite was the maple bacon, it was so good I wanted to order another serving. Nice sticky and crunchy all at the same time. Reservations weren't needed and we found parking in the parking lot around the corner. The first 30 minutes are free

We got there and had to wait about 20 minutes for just 2 of us, so would definitely recommend calling beforehand.
Had a group of 8 at toast recently. Although google says they take a call ahead waitlist, they do not. We called that we had a party of 8 coming about 5 mins before we got there, and they indicated the wait would be 5-10 mins but could not guarantee. When we got there, they quoted us 30 mins. The wait ended up being about 45 minutes. Once we sat the meal was great. Service and food came quickly and I enjoyed my southwest breakfast bowl. The bowl was modifiable. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well!

The food is amazing!!! Very fresh and tasty. I had an omelet stuffed with maple bacon and Brie, topped with sliced avocado.The omelet cooked to perfection.On the side was breakfast potatoes that was amazing. I was with 2 friends and we literally ate everything served, they left nothing but napkins on the plates. The pancakes are really good and my friend had the Mediterranean omelet. I tasted all and everything done to perfection. I had Flight juice it came out in box with the juices labeled. I loved it! A new experience for me. The service was the best around.From beginning to end everyone was very accommodating and very very friendly.They definitely make you feel like a valued customer. My family and I dined here on a less-than-packed Saturday morning. We experienced a short wait time, which wasn't an issue at all, but unfortunately, the service once we were seated was extremely slow. Our waitress didn't do the best job at making sure we had a pleasant experience. She was pretty inattentive, missed a few things we asked for, and rarely came back to check on us or see if we needed anything. She also wasn't the friendliest, so overall the service just felt a little off, especially considering the restaurant wasn't very busy at the time. As for the food, it was decent. Nothing was necessarily bad, but nothing really stood out either. Between the slow service and the food just being okay, I can't say this is somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again. read more

Montclair has such cute places! This is a pretty large restaurant that recently opened up. Pros: - Lots of parking in the area, for Montclair - The wait was about 15 min for a weekend brunch - The aesthetic is beautiful: dark colors, multiple levels, and there's a lot of light Cons: - Portions were small. I got a single slice of bread for my avocado toast, and a small glass of juice (maybe 4 oz) for normal prices - It was freezing inside! They had to put a heater right by our feet but it was also a tripping hazard It was a cute place to go! If they had larger portions I think I'd come more regularly. read more

One of my favorite breakfast spots at any of the shore towns. Love the casual dining environment and the service is always friendly. The menu is excellent - my personal favorite is the gluten-free waffle and the corned beef hash, although I have yet to experience a bad meal. My only criticism is that each time I have eaten here, I always feel kind of rushed out at the end. The check usually comes right as I'm finishing eating, and I've never had a server offer to bring more coffee at the end of the meal so I can relax for a minute and digest my food. I usually arrive right at opening so the place is never crowded even by the time I'm leaving. It's happened often enough (read: every single time) that it keeps me from giving it five stars. The server was nice however it took long for someone to come and check on us once we started eating and we had to ask for waters a second time. Came here to check out this new spot. Heard a lot of good things about it. The waitstaff was very friendly, effective and efficient. Portions were decent sized & tasty. Our only issue was that the two of us were seated in a very small booth right against the cash register. It's very tight for two adults, & if you're sitting in the aisle seat in the winter, you'll feel the continual blast of cold air as people enter the front door. Maybe they should put one of those alcoves in front of the front door to minimize the cold air entering the restaurant. read more
A cute fun place for brunch with unique menu items. This place is a pretty standard brunch spot but it has fun additions like grilled cinnamon buns, a thai wrap, and a tumeric latte. Southwest breakfast bowl was delicious and a ton of food. I wish the menu listed cilantro used as a garnish but not too big of a deal here because it's a Southwest dish so it makes sense. We also had the grilled cinnamon buns which were unique and had a surprising flakiness. Service was great. The inside is beautiful and well lit. I only have minor complaints - my French toast latte was dripping down the sides when they brought it over so the mug was very sticky. read more

We had a great experience here at Toast today. What a wonderful new addition to Cranford. I was able to put our name on the waitlist here on Yelp before we took the 5 min drive and we were 5th on the list, not too bad. When we arrived I told the hostess and she informed me that there were a few people ahead of us which I knew. We were able to sit off to the side in an empty dining area to peruse the menu. I couldn't decide if I wanted breakfast or lunch. Such a dilemma with great menu choices. We were sat in less than 10 minutes and greeted right away by our server taking our drink orders. We opted for just water with lemon and took a few more minutes to check out the menu. I decided on the Thai chicken wrap and requested breakfast potatoes in place of French fries. The wrap was sooo good. The vegetables in it were crisp and there was a perfect amount of suave with the chicken. Even the wrap itself had a nice crisp to it from their grill. Definitely glad with that choice. My date had the sausage and peppers omelette which he likes as well. He told me "good choice" on the place for breakfast today. The waiters are very friendly and accommodating, the food is delicious and diverse (gluten free and vegan dishes) and I love the "industrial dinner nostalgia" vibe of the decor. The place is beautifully designed so decided to stop in for the first time because our favorite breakfast spot in town was closed for 4th of July. Service: For starters, this is almost a 3 star review but the emotionless unfriendly teenaged hostess pulled it down to the 2 (she clearly didn't want to be there). Our server Jara was very sweet and attentive and did a very good job. Food: Ordered the Mediterranean omelette with breakfast potatoes and toast. Omelette was fine, breakfast potatoes were tasty but cold. But the worst part of the meal was the TOAST! It's laughable to call yourself TOAST and serve a single thin slice of basic wheat bread that's cold and NOT toasted! Just embarrassing. The ricotta lemon poppy pancake was super-thin, not fluffy, and drizzled with an unnecessary, very sweet white glaze. Left more than half of it on the plate... and it was $8.50. In summary, a very pretty spot with hit or miss service and mediocre breakfast food. So many better options in town. Toast, start by improving your TOAST! Please.. read more

I was so excited to try Toast! We absolutely needed something like this in Cranford. I ordered the eggs Benedict Florentine and a side of bacon. However, I was a little disappointed the food was lukewarm. Hmmmm. Not sure why. I was there early on Saturday morning, there was no wait and I specifically went early to sit, relax and savor the food. I would like to understand why would the food be cold if it was early enough and they were not busy ? Hmm. I must say I am super impressed with Sabella, the best waitress I have seen in a very long time. On her toes, proactive and so efficient. Sabella is a Superwoman! Kudos Sabella! read more

I had the pleasure of attending their soft opening this morning and I can't say enough good things. If the way things run and tasted on a soft opening is any indication, this place is going to be nothing less than fantastic. Eggs perfectly cooked. Crab hash?
