Stopped in on a whim to find a classic old school divey jersey sub shop. The grilled closes an hour before the close the shop so we got a full size sub that was enough for two. #30 Loaded with freshly sliced Turkey, salami and American cheese. I got light mayo so I can image what regular looks like. Tons of drinks and chips to go with you selection. Staff was talking amongst themselves when we arrived didn't care to stop. Not a deal breaker, food was still good. You'll find plenty of seating in this whole in the wall in case you didn't want to take out.

Picked up some subs for lunch. Parking on the street or at the train station across the street. Meat is fresh and tastes good. Bread is typical deli bread chewy and tough.

My update to five stars is long overdue, as I've eaten hundreds of subs from Hershey's since they opened in 1968. When a food shop is famous for one item, and they've been making it the same way for half a century, you know they've perfected it. #17 ($12) is provelone, boiled ham, pepperoni, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, olive oil & red wine vinegar, and a touch of dried oregano on an Italian loaf. They make this to order in about 60 sec. This is real fast food. This Westfield staple has a history, and the grunge to prove it. The owner, who worked here as a high school kid, has certainly been in it for the long haul. He's now providing part time jobs for the next generation, as well as doing a lot of philanthropic work for the community.

Sub in a rub is a yummy salad option!!!

Simply the best deli in town. The food is as great as the people are nice. From sub in a tub salad options to great sandwiches this is always a great option.

One star, only for the small town atmosphere. Zero stars for the food. Eat here as a kid and had fond memories, returned multiple times when in Westfield for work and had the opposite experience. Deli sandwiches are average, the meat did not taste great and the bread was lackluster. Returned for another try and ordered a simple grilled cheese. I guess the effort is not in this deli anymore as the 1/4 pound cheese sandwich with toast was a pitiful excuse for even a grilled cheese. Go elsewhere, tradition does not equal quality.

#3 that was supposed to come with condiments on it but came plain.

Ehh, had a Turkey sandwich. The "Rye" bread was very white bread ish. Nothing special. The taste was bland.

Over priced, barely any meat on sandwich, paid almost 20 bucks for a sandwich with more cheese than meat.

Hershey's has the best subs around. It's a no frills deli that you can always count on.

Best subs! I always come when I'm in town. Sloppy Joe's and cheesesteaks and Italian subs are all my absolute favorite.

Recently I made it a point to visit to pick up a sandwich for lunch and I'm really glad I did! Al's is very clean and welcoming. When you walk in the cashier counter is to the left, set at a right angle to that is the deli counter where sandwiches are assembled. The menu is mounted on the wall towards the back. To the right is a seating area. Across from the cashier is a fridge with various pasta dishes ready to heat up and eat along with some baked goods and lots of different kinds of chips to go with your sammich. I wound up ordering the Red & White Russian which includes Roast Beef, Turkey, Swiss, Horseradish, Deli Mustard, Lettuce, Tomato & Onion. You can have it pressed by request but I did not do so. I also ordered a side order of macaroni salad. The Red & White Russian was really good! The size was perfect and the bread was soft and chewy. There was a good amount of meat and cheese and I really liked the mustard and horseradish flavors. The macaroni salad was great. I would definitely get both of these again! I'm glad I made it a point to stop at Al's and I plan to do so again in the future!

They have a lot of interesting sandwiches to choose from. They caught my eye because they use focaccia for some of them which I love any opportunity to have it . I ordered a tuna on focaccia with mixed greens and peppers on the side . Tuna was slightly disappointing. It was missing a little twang/bite I might recommend a jalapeño relish which I use at home when I make it. I also ordered the ranchers roast beef and cheddar cheese, which also needed a little pick up me up also Maybe a twangy horseradish mayo. I also ordered the red white Italian, which is on focaccia bread, which was a very hearty sandwich loaded with chicken breast and roasted peppers. The sandwich needs to be eaten fairly quickly as the focaccia gets slightly soggy. we also ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, which unfortunately didn't have much buffalo taste according to my husband. Minus these few flavor factors for me. The sandwiches in general were very good prices were slightly high, but the serving size was adequate for the pricing. Staff was super friendly. And I love how they have their routine getting all the orders out. They have a good amount of seating inside if you want to eat there. They also have a large variety of chips and drinks also . Definitely worth giving them a try !

We had the Traditional Sloppy & the Turkey Sloppy. Both were very good. Could have been "sloppier" for my taste, as in not enough Russian Dressing or Coleslaw. I now understand why my Wife wanted extra Russian on her sandwich. She said it still wasn't enough, lol. My Wife enjoyed the coleslaw so much she wanted a side of it. A $25 Reuben should be amazing. My bread was greasy and soggy because they couldn't take the time strain the sauerkraut. The dry turkey meat was lumped in the middle of the sandwich. It was small. I guess they are putting the $$$ increases on their customers and lowering the quality of their food. My sandwich was so disgusting and in soggy pieces I had to throw it out ! $50 for two sandwiches and they were awful. I don't mind paying good money for good food. But this was far from that. After speaking with the owner, I was shocked and appalled that he was so careless in his business. He was more concerned about himself and his profit margin. I work hard for my money too. When I told him I was not happy he told me that I should take it to yelp and write a review if that's what I felt like I needed to do. So here it is. Hands-down the worst sandwiches I've ever had. Definitely has gone down hill. If there are three customers in your store and there's five people working the very least you could do is make a decent sandwich. I will not be returning to Goodmans. I do not recommend it. The place is empty, dingy, and the food was garbage.
