They have an extensive menu of Tex Mex dishes, and they also sell several different types of baked goods like doughnuts and conchas. I actually saw a customer stop by for just one doughnut! Upon entering, the woman behind the counter pointed us to the specials before recommending the Birria wrap - shredded short ribs with melted mozzarella cheese,diced spanish onions,cilantro,shredded lettuce, refried beans,fried tortilla strips, and crema. It sounded yummy, and as a weekly special, I took her up on the idea. I am SO glad I did. The sandwich was a perfect balance of savory, spicy, and crunchy. The fries also came out hot, crispy, and crunchy, along with being perfectly salted for my tastes. Simply a 10/10 experience, making me eager for the next time I can get back here. From a location perspective, this is outside of downtown Westfield, so parking is no issue. That said, there isn't a ton of indoor seating, with only 2-3 four seat tables and another 2-3 two seaters. It was righteously delicious. If I had two small critiques, I do wish the cheese was a bit more melted and there was a bit less chorizo. That said, the sandwich hit the spot. Came here on a Friday night. It was pretty busy and it seems like a popular local spot. The menu is extensive, so it can be a little overwhelming to order. The restaurant is brightly and festively decorated. There's seating inside but it can be a little cramped. They also have outside seating though. Ordered the birria crunchy wrap and it was so good! We ordered the birria crunch wrap and the chicken flautas for take out on a reco from our friends. The birria crunch wrap had good flavor, I do wish it came with a consommé which we'll request on the side next time but it was well made. It may be better to eat in just because it gets a bit steamed when traveling. We added sour cream from home which it did need without that consommé. The flautas were also very good, I liked the volume of toppings and the freshness of the ingredients. The crunch wrap was very filling for the two of us so we only could eat a small bit of the flautas night one but they were just as good night two. read more

The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was filled with flavors of spices that any pallet would love and the chicken was so juicy and tender. Its Spicy fried chicken, melted cheddar cheese, crispy romaine lettuce, fresh tomatoes, and spicy remoulade sauce on a brioche roll, served with french fries. The Home-made Veggie Burger is a delightful experience! Starting with a multigrain bun that is soft and delicious, and filled with homemade veggie patty that is incredibly juicy and full of flavors. Finally. It packs a punch with avocado, tomatoes, pesto and our favorite grilled red onions. Finally to the churros, we are yet to take pictures, but if you are in Westfield, NJ, you should just visit North Side Kitchen for the Churros! These are delicate and crispy and filled with a delightful secret filling sauce. The churros come drizzled with caramel sauce ,chocolate sauce ,topped with slices of bananas and cinnamon sugar. I walked in and the place was small and cozy with indoor and outdoor dining. The young lady asked my name and I told her. My food was ready, I paid a little over $9 and left out. When I got home I dug in. They gave me 2 free chocolate chip cookies which was nice. They put the coleslaw on the side so I added it before tasting it. When I tried the sandwich I liked it. The food here is incredible. In particular, the mole poblano is the best I've had anywhere. It's complex, rich, and delicious. They put such care into their food, whether it's the mole or simply grilled cheese from the kids' menu. They even make some do the best disco fries I've ever had, and I've been to diners all over NJ. The place looked cozy and warm, but not the employee there. Each time I came here, I was greeted with an uninterested worker as if I was a bother. Today, I ordered "soup of the day" - tortilla soup. It just needed a bit of salt and some crunch, otherwise it looked glum and plain, and did they use egg noodles here? Then the Brisket sandwich was bland, served on a cold bread. Pieces of brisket that looked like a leftover. So did the soup, btw. Brisket was served with French fries, but the brisket was so underseasoned. A great sandwich spot! Although the name is different (it's now Northside kitchen Tex-mex), it still has great sandwiches, and even has tacos and burritos now. They have outdoor and indoor seating, and it's located right in a neighborhood, which gives it a much quieter feeling. I had a brisket sandwich, and it was great, the brioche buns are toasted to keep it crispy and dry as the sandwich is pretty moist and messy, the coleslaw often drips out, but if you're ok with a messy experience it's a great sandwich! Savory, salty, and comes with fries. I only wish the fries had a little more kick to them; they are fairly standard and need ketchup to have any flavor when compared to the sandwich. read more

This place is by far the best food throughout all iterations of 760 prospect- dating back to prospectors deli. The food here is HOMEMADE. The entire family works there; and you can feel the family vibe after eating there only one time. My personal favorites are their soups; which are all clearly made from scratch. Their tomato soup is the closest thing I've had to the Nordstrom cafe tomato basil, compared to anywhere else I've been. Their Mexican food is the best, combined with the menu from the previous owners/operators of Northside kitchen. My personal favorites include the Gali burrito, the quesadillas, and breakfast sandwiches. Their award winning fried chicken sandwich is also a solid bet. The portions are generous, and sides are huge. The prices are very fair for what you get, and the quality of the food is high. I saw this place on social media and said that looks good. Then i go there and i think I'm lost because you are in residential zone but it is the most cutest little restaurant. My pastor's and his wife came by to Westfield with their kids to see me earlier this week all the way from East Brunswick area - And this was my first time seeing them in just about half a year. And we went to Northside Kitchen for lunch because they wanted to be able to support even small ma and pop type of places as long as they were in the area. The staff was very patient with us, and we couldn't be more thankful during their services since having to have a 3rd/4th grade kid, a kindergartener going on 1st grade, and 3 or 4 year old twins with 3 adults couldn't have been the easiest to serve. The kids loved their grilled cheese sandwich, and the oldest of my pastor's kids loved even some of her dad's (the pastor's) cheeseburger, and my pastor's wife and I loved our chicken sandwiches. They were just absolutely delicious! I may not have much time left in the States before I have to go off to Korea, but I would love to return to Northside Kitchen at least once before I have to take off. I'm just sad that I didn't visit this place sooner in my 16 years of residing in Westfield and always passing by this place during my walks for some exercise around the town without much though to check it out at some point. read more

Northside Kitchen is a wonderful addition to Westfield. It's a quaint little sandwich shop that offers delicious comfort food- something vastly different than the other restaurants around here. I had the fried chicken sandwich (thanks to other yelp recommendations) and my mom had the brisket. The chicken was incredible! Juicy, sweet perfection! My mom's brisket sandwich was great too. I've had some great brisket down south and this was pretty damn good brisket. The meat was tender and melted in your mouth. The slaw that comes with both sandwiches is a perfect addition. For dessert, I got the s'mores sandwich. It's like a grilled Nutella and fluff sandwich- which reminds me of my childhood. It definitely hit the sweet spot without being too heavy.
