Birria (shredded short ribs) crunchy wrap and fries
    Ian M.

Came here for a midweek lunch and was blown away by the quality of the meal. Upon entering, the woman behind the counter pointed us to the specials before recommending the Birria wrap - shredded short ribs with melted mozzarella cheese, diced spanish onions, cilantro, shredded lettuce, refried beans, fried tortilla strips, and crema. It sounded yummy, and as a weekly special, I took her up on the idea. I am SO glad I did. The sandwich was a perfect balance of savory, spicy, and crunchy. The fries also came out hot, crispy, and crunchy, along with being perfectly salted for my tastes. Simply a 10/10 experience, making me eager for the next time I can get back here. From a location perspective, this is outside of downtown Westfield, so parking is no issue. That said, there isn't a ton of indoor seating, with only 2-3 four seat tables and another 2-3 two seaters. So when you're going, get there early, or pick a warm day where you can eat outside (where there are a few more tables near the street).

    Cemita el Chilango

I've lived in the area for over a decade, and unfortunately Northside Kitchen fell off my radar...until today. I ordered a Cemita El Chilango - Chorizo, scrambled eggs, potatoes, topped with queso Oaxaca, green jalapeño pickles, and avocado on a round roll. I subbed the potatoes with refried beans. It was righteously delicious. If I had two small critiques, I do wish the cheese was a bit more melted and there was a bit less chorizo. That said, the sandwich hit the spot. The side of homemade potato chips were a pass - I found them to be overcooked and burned. My to go order was well packaged, as well. I need to add NSK to the rotation more often!

Such delicious food and generous portions . We ordered chicken enchiladas, and honey butter fried chicken sandwich. Everything was more than delicious. The service was excellent. We're not from around town, but we would definitely drive back to eat here again.

    Birria crunchy wrap

Came here on a Friday night. It was pretty busy and it seems like a popular local spot. The menu is extensive, so it can be a little overwhelming to order. The restaurant is brightly and festively decorated. There's seating inside but it can be a little cramped. They also have outside seating though. Ordered the birria crunchy wrap and it was so good! The meat was tender and I love the crunch factor. I also got a Bavarian churro and it was yummy as well. They also ended up giving us two extra for free! The staff was very friendly despite the busy-ness as well.

I heard good things about this place so today I tried it. It was great I had the chicken tacos. They were plentiful lots of chicken. Rice and beans were very good also. I would definitely shop here again and would recommend . The people were very friendly & welcoming. Good prices packed nicely for take out.

The northside kitchen is a cute little spot just a block away from downtown westfield, nj. We are in awe of this place and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good quality meal. We tried north side kitchen's crispy chicken sandwich, vegan burger, chicken wings, chocolate brownie and churros! The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was filled with flavors of spices that any pallet would love and the chicken was so juicy and tender. Its Spicy fried chicken, melted cheddar cheese, crispy romaine lettuce, fresh tomatoes, and spicy remoulade sauce on a brioche roll, served with french fries. The Home-made Veggie Burger is a delightful experience! Starting with a multigrain bun that is soft and delicious, and filled with homemade veggie patty that is incredibly juicy and full of flavors. Finally. It packs a punch with avocado, tomatoes, pesto and our favorite grilled red onions. Finally to the churros, we are yet to take pictures, but if you are in Westfield, NJ, you should just visit North Side Kitchen for the Churros! These are delicate and crispy and filled with a delightful secret filling sauce. The churros come drizzled with caramel sauce ,chocolate sauce ,topped with slices of bananas and cinnamon sugar. This is a MUST HAVE! Lastly, it makes to our list of Hidden Gems of NJ!

The food here is awesome! I got the birria crunch wrap which was really good. When I tried the sauce that came with it I felt like it could cure me of any illness lol. The fries are sooo good too. It's in an unexpected location but I love what they did with the indoor and outdoor seating and decor. Everything is so colorful and the staff were kind as well.

It was our first time so I had limited expectations other than price. I was right lol. $38 dollars later... This place specializes in Roma pizza and my only barometer for that is all the influencers going to Italy and complaining that the pizza looks "different" than here in the US. The gag is it always looked good to me so I was hype to try it as Massa. It kinda gives focaccia pizza and Massa does some really nice flavors. The slices are set up almost like a bakery - complete with the panic/relief that sets in when the person ahead of you takes the last slice of crumb cake. But then you see a fresh pan coming out the oven. We got: -cremini mushroom -pesto -hot honey pepperoni (The Stevearoni I think and the one someone grabbed the last slice of before me) -diavola aka spicy soppressata. We split a beet, walnut, and goat cheese salad and a Diet Coke. It was so good. Crunchy, crispy, flavorful, and yes different. We loved it. The salad was fresh, perfectly dressed and bright. Overall Impressions: -clean aesthetic and actually just clean -great food -good seating This would be a 5 star experience (instead of 4.5) if the staff was more outwardly friendly. They weren't rude or anything but a hello and goodbye is what separates this place from my local spot that is 2 miles away instead of 15 and $20 instead of $40. We look forward to returning - not every week at these prices but at least once a month. Delicious!

That set the tone a bit, and the staff stayed pretty flat and distant throughout. In a place serving Italian sandwiches, you'd hope for at least a little of that classic deli energy, but it felt more transactional than welcoming. On the plus side, the sandwiches were loaded with meat--generous piles of gabagool (capicola) and the other cold cuts, so you definitely get your money's worth in terms of quantity. That's the highlight. Flavor-wise, though, they fell short. Everything tasted kind of one-note and under-seasoned. The meat was good quality, but it needed salt, maybe some oregano, a splash of vinegar or oil, or just more care in the assembly to bring it to life. It wasn't bad, just forgettable--more filling than satisfying. Overall, it's a solid 3-star spot if you're purely after a big, meat-heavy sandwich and don't mind basic service. If you want personality behind the counter or a sub that actually pops with flavor, you might want to keep looking. We left somewhat satisfied but not impressed, and probably won't make a special trip back.
