Ham, salami and provolone sub.

We ordered 3 different half subs, macaroni salad, potato salad and a pickle. The subs were edible but the meat was poor quality. The macaroni and potato salads were both that cheap stuff with the random bits of red pepper. The macaroni salad was more like soup. The pickle was not a traditional deli pickle and was not good. The employee was pleasant but the place is shabby.

a half eaten sandwich and a half eaten sandwich

I've been here twice now and the destroyer is the highlight of my day both times even if I'm going to see my girlfriend that day(sorry amor). They're very friendly and generous with the portions. The prices are great too. Gives small sandwich shop vibes but it's all about getting your sandwich, chips, drink and goin on about your day. I'll be comparing other sandwiches to this place from now on as my standard. I didn't even get to take a pic of my sandwich it was that good.

Super Subslinger missing 2 meats

Ordered a Super Subslinger which should have 4 types of meat. I only got 2. This place is a rip off. Much better places elsewhere.

Smallest amount of meat on a hero that I have ever seen. They even have a sign outside that reads " giant submarine sandwiches " 2 guys inside don't say much. Won't be returning

Roast beef and turkey sloppy joe

It's hard to find a good sloppy joe that is worth the price. This place nailed it. For chips and a sandwich it was $10. I went in because I had a craving for a sub sandwich but decided on this instead. As you can see from the pictures they do not skimp on the meat or coleslaw. The bread was soft but not to the point where it was getting stuck on the roof of my mouth. I can't wait to go back and try more. The true test will be their rueben, but I'll report back after my husband tries that. Don't let the outside and small interior fool you. This place is definitely worth going to. They are on DoorDash also which is fantastic.

#10 prosciuttini, capicola, salami, and provolone on cheap bread
Michael K.

A recent review said, "If you like Jersey Mike's, check this place out, it's 100% better". I'll give them that, since Jersey Mike's in Westfield is worse than prison food. I've passed this place a thousand times, so it was time to try it. First impression, it's grubby, but as long as they pass health inspections, I'm OK with it. Prices are considerably lower than Hershey's in Westfield, but there's a reason for that. Subslingers gets their bread from America's Bakery in Newark. It's soft, tasteless generic white bread. They sell it for 25¢ a loaf at my local bodega. Subslingers uses Hormel ham, which is one step above Jersey Mike's house-brand X, but inferior to Boar's Head, Thumann's, or Kohler, higher-quality lunch meats sold at other sandwich shops. I had half a #10, which is prosciuttini, capicola, salami, and provolone, dressed with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions, oregano, oil, and vinegar ($5.10). They only put one or two paper-thin slices of salami and capicola on the sandwich, and the prosciuttini tasted like ordinary ham. The red wine vinegar was watery, and the oil had no taste, like plain vegetable oil, not olive oil. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, but the sandwich needed more onion. I do commend them for a good selection of chips and soft drinks in the fridge, but the quality of my sandwich torpedoed Subslingers for me.

Italian sub cross-section, for your viewing please...
Frank C.

Was looking for a decent sub spot on the way home from Berkeley Heights, and we were pleasantly surprised with Subslingers. Bread was soft and fresh, veggies were bright and crisp, and the meat and cheese were sliced perfectly thin. Reminds me of the golden days of Blimpie (if there ever was such an era!). We tried the Italian and Ham/Provolone sandwiches, and both were super tasty. Will definitely take a 15 minute detour next time we are in the area, but we recommend you check it out also, especially if you are looking for a change of pace compared to the meat-wad sandwiches on overly crusty bread featured at so many other delis in the area.

That set the tone a bit, and the staff stayed pretty flat and distant throughout. In a place serving Italian sandwiches, you'd hope for at least a little of that classic deli energy, but it felt more transactional than welcoming. On the plus side, the sandwiches were loaded with meat--generous piles of gabagool (capicola) and the other cold cuts, so you definitely get your money's worth in terms of quantity. That's the highlight. Flavor-wise, though, they fell short. Everything tasted kind of one-note and under-seasoned. The meat was good quality, but it needed salt, maybe some oregano, a splash of vinegar or oil, or just more care in the assembly to bring it to life. It wasn't bad, just forgettable--more filling than satisfying. Overall, it's a solid 3-star spot if you're purely after a big, meat-heavy sandwich and don't mind basic service. If you want personality behind the counter or a sub that actually pops with flavor, you might want to keep looking. We left somewhat satisfied but not impressed, and probably won't make a special trip back.

We brought it back home and the cutlet was still plenty warm and the romaine was cold and crunchy. My coworker and boyfriend suggest getting some extra Caesar dressing on the side for dipping. The place was cutie pie - I liked that they were playing good music and had a silly book of animals I could browse at while I waited for the food to be ready. There was an altercation of two couples yelling at each-other and causing a fuss. Lowkey I wish the manager would have refused service to all 4 of them because why were they being absolutely terrible at 1pm on a Saturday. Not kicking them out promotes they can act like that and have no repercussions. But anywho guess the sandwiches are worth fighting over. I will be returning!

The size is so much bigger in person vs. shown online, so come hungry or be prepared to pack leftovers. They're a bit hard to eat like a sandwich so we had to use a fork and knife to cut it up into smaller pieces. I can see why people get a side order of dressing as it could be a bit dry - would recommend doing so (some people get buffalo sauce).

I would rather not add stars for this review because I have been here 2X and really like the food…read moreand the service is great. However, last week I looked them up and ordered through Yelp (facilitated by Grubhub, apparently). I ordered 2 of the roast beefs, 2 chopped chickens and a chicken Caesar salad and salivated during my 30 min drive to pick up. I arrived to an entirely still and locked store. No sign of anyone. I've often noticed vendors failing to update working hours, and that is frustrating. But what's worse is when I've got Yelp blaming Grubhub and Grubhub blaming everyone. I called and there was never anyone at the store though Grubhub took my money and gave me a pickup time. They agreed to refund me in several days but did absolutely nothing to compensate or remedy the situation and took no responsibility. So I will not be using Grubhub again (and that may mean ordering through Yelp if they only work through Grubhub). I hope Carved cleans up their act with times. Very frustrating when nobody takes responsibility and I don't know whether I can even trust ordering food through Yelp.

We tried the Stirling Dip, which consists of sliced roast beef, sharp provolone, and caramelized onion on a garlic baguette. It also comes with a side serving of beef au jus, pickled cucumbers, and red onions. The beef was high-quality and so tender! The sandwich was stacked with a lot of beef, and we split it. It was super filling, and we had a hard time finishing it. The bread was soft and delicious. The sandwich cost $18.00. It was juicy enough that it didn't need to be dipped in the au jus. I would have given it 5 stars, but it was on the salty side. They told us that they will start serving meals in the future.
