I stopped going here many years ago because they would always mess up my order. But I decided to give it another chance why should have kept on driving!!!! I ordered a bacon and egg and cheese sandwich with onions and peppers. On the board it said 2 eggs with meat $5.69 the first guy rung me up he said 6.40 . The other guy immediately sent him away telling me there's something wrong with the register I continued to wait another what seems like forever to be charged almost nine dollars for my sandwich because I added onions and peppers. After years of driving by Subslingers and making poorly filed mental notes to try it, I finally stopped in for a lunchtime sandwich. The place is pretty rundown, which is a fine "dive" vibe for a sandwich shop, if they can back it up with the food. Unfortunately, the sandwiches had probably seen better days as well. I got the Italian, and it was reminiscent of the type of school fundraiser sandwich you've come to dispassionately eat when faced with no other options. The sandwich wasn't heavy on toppings, cheese, or meat, and the soft bread overpowered what little was on the bun. We ordered 3 different half subs, macaroni salad, potato salad and a pickle. The subs were edible but the meat was poor quality. The macaroni and potato salads were both that cheap stuff with the random bits of red pepper. The macaroni salad was more like soup. The pickle was not a traditional deli pickle and was not good. I've been here twice now and the destroyer is the highlight of my day both times even if I'm going to see my girlfriend that day(sorry amor). They're very friendly and generous with the portions. The prices are great too. Gives small sandwich shop vibes but it's all about getting your sandwich, chips, drink and goin on about your day. I came on 1/12 at 5:39 pm, they close at 7pm . Get inside and they tell me they're closed . Tuesday- Friday they stay open to 7pm . So if you want a good sandwich after work, don't stop here they might just be closed . No one wants to work anymore ! read more

Hands down best subs in New Jersey! I've been coming here for more than 10 years and still look forward to it when I come home to visit. Did you know that when you say "salt, pepper, oregano" in another state, they look at you like you're insane? Anyway, all this time and not one order has been messed up! It's hard to find a good sloppy joe that is worth the price. This place nailed it. For chips and a sandwich it was $10. I went in because I had a craving for a sub sandwich but decided on this instead. As you can see from the pictures they do not skimp on the meat or coleslaw. The bread was soft but not to the point where it was getting stuck on the roof of my mouth. I can't wait to go back and try more. The true test will be their rueben, but I'll report back after my husband tries that. Don't let the outside and small interior fool you. This place is definitely worth going to. Best place to start is with the subs themselves period they were lacking meat and very, very dry period The real challenge was how disgustingly dirty this place was. I'm surprised the board of health. Would let them open period as sad as it. A sticky, dirty table and the walls have caked on dust that have not been cleaned and probably years. A recent review said, "If you like Jersey Mike's, check this place out, it's 100% better". I'll give them that, since Jersey Mike's in Westfield is worse than prison food. I've passed this place a thousand times, so it was time to try it. First impression, it's grubby, but as long as they pass health inspections, I'm OK with it. Prices are considerably lower than Hershey's in Westfield, but there's a reason for that. Subslingers gets their bread from America's Bakery in Newark. It's soft, tasteless generic white bread. They sell it for 25¢ a loaf at my local bodega. Subslingers uses Hormel ham, which is one step above Jersey Mike's house-brand X, but inferior to Boar's Head, Thumann's, or Kohler, higher-quality lunch meats sold at other sandwich shops. I had half a #10, which is prosciuttini, capicola, salami, and provolone, dressed with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions, oregano, oil, and vinegar ($5.10). They only put one or two paper-thin slices of salami and capicola on the sandwich, and the prosciuttini tasted like ordinary ham. The red wine vinegar was watery, and the oil had no taste, like plain vegetable oil, not olive oil. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, but the sandwich needed more onion. I do commend them for a good selection of chips and soft drinks in the fridge, but the quality of my sandwich torpedoed Subslingers for me. read more

SUBparSLINGERS. Nothing special at all. Not enough meat. Way too much lettuce. Unfresh bread with hard ends. Soggy sections of bread from unevenly distributed oil & vinegar. Wet sub wrapper. Wet paper bag. Growing up in a bilingual home i am very tolerant of people speaking in their native tongue but as a paying customer I feel I am entitled to understand how the cashier instructs the subslinger how to make my sub because they forgot my banana peppers and over did my splash of oil & vinegar. Was looking for a decent sub spot on the way home from Berkeley Heights, and we were pleasantly surprised with Subslingers. Bread was soft and fresh, veggies were bright and crisp, and the meat and cheese were sliced perfectly thin. Reminds me of the golden days of Blimpie (if there ever was such an era!). We tried the Italian and Ham/Provolone sandwiches, and both were super tasty. Will definitely take a 15 minute detour next time we are in the area, but we recommend you check it out also, especially if you are looking for a change of pace compared to the meat-wad sandwiches on overly crusty bread featured at so many other delis in the area. read more

After passing over 3 lanes and nearly killing ourselves we made it to the tiny parking lot safely. When we walked in I didn't like what I saw. For no particular reason at all I had not been to Subslinger's in about a decade. I remember going there while I was in high school and on breaks from college. It was a food must-have/staple for me. In addition, I ordered s cheese sub and the cheese was minimal.To make matters worst I called to inform the manager about the bread, and he wad rude.
