My childhood sub shop still hits just like it did when I was a kid. This place is cash only, so arrive with your dollars in hand or use their atm machine. I always love a cheese sub. Here, it comes with lettuce, tomato, mayo, spices, oil and vinegar. The bread is soft, the cheese sub comes with American, provolone and Swiss. The folks working here are always polite and make sure you get exactly what you like. The shop looks almost exactly like it did when I was a kid in the 90s, they actually have the price lists from years past posted at the register. Considered one of the better deli in the area by locals, my colleague and I came to Sub Stop Deli for lunch takeout. Parked around the corner, we arrived at this cozy deli on a busy Wood Ave situated in Roselle. Greeted by the staff, we ordered their 1/2 sub "Belly Buster" consisting of Boiled Ham, Capicola, Salami, Pepperoni, Bologna, Swiss & Provolone and #26 Turkey Club with sliced Turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, Mayo, oil and vinegar. The Turkey club looked a tad smaller than yesterday's sub. The "Belly Buster" is definitely the way to go which was packed with meat. All the ingredients are fresh and good quality as they use Boar's Head high quality meats. They've done a good job of stacking the sandwiches which I feel like is important when you're making a sandwich. Topping it off, they have a great selections of chips and drinks. While waiting for our orders, the staff pointed us to the old cash register in the front back and the old 1970s menu in the back. We enjoyed our thin sliced meat sandwiches as they were tasty and delicious on the soft roll with the refreshing Birch Beer and Black Cherry drinks. I just didn't like that they didn't tell me cash only when they were only doing takeout orders This place was good and it's a nice place to get a sandwich from, therres a liquor store right next door that has an ATM so you can always get cash there if you forgot. But I would just say have cash on you. They charge for everything that you want extra whether it's a sauce or some thing on the side they even have some sauces in the fridge so you can just grab. There was a great amount of Joe's chips and Joe's Ice-T's and lemonades. You have some snacks like cookies other kinds of chips and drinks all available to behind the desk. The bread for sandwiches was good, The family seem to put some TLC into their sandwich making skills. I'll be back for more next time I'll just make sure I have cash! read more

I have been going there for a long time. Subs are always good, but now they are cutting the tomato slices in half. Really!!!!

I never had any issues with the food. The sandwiches are good for the price. I did however notice I was being overcharged on two separate occasions and had to question the prices...to which an apology was given and a correction made. But since it happened more than once and within a very close timeframe it makes me wonder how accidental it was. Have to give the benefit of the doubt and hope it was accidental for now. Wow, a family member who lives in Roselle brought over 4 whole subs when they came over yesterday. She swore they are the best. Honestly they appeared at first glance as average nothing fancy. To my surprise this was simple done so right. We had the Turkey and cheese LT on white, the Tuna LT on white and the Ham, salami, cheese LT on white. What made these so well crafted was large container of mayo and oil/vinegar were provided on the side. This made the sandwich stay fresh so the bread didn't absorb all that extra liquid from the sauces. The bread itself is sturdy yet soft all the same time. It held together all through the sandwich. Like I said this is simple food that may appear as something Subway could make but no this is something else, something special in its simplicity. Subway ain't got bitten in Sub Stop. read more

The quality of sandwiches made here is phenomenal. Thick, hearty portions of Boars head meat, thin shredded lettuce, excellent bread and a perfect "dressing" to top it off. A very simple deli but has everything you need. I was nervous about finding a good sandwich spot in this town after moving from Hoboken to Roselle, but Sub Stop has me covered. It's a very small place in an old strip mall so I actually didn't even think of coming here right away, but wow was I missing out. This will be my go to lunch spot from now on. Reasonably priced too. My only gripe is I wish they were open later; they close at 6pm and if I'm in the mood for a sandwich for dinner I can't get home in time from work to catch them! read more

I can't believe i'm the first person to review Sub Stop. Truly one of the best sandwich shops in all of Union County, maybe the state. This has to be Roselle's best kept lunch-time secret. At one point there were a lot of other mom and pop deli joints in Roselle including Roselle Subs on Chestnut Street. Sub Stop now is the only one left, truly standing the test of time, and for good reason. I have been going to Sub Stop ever since I can remember. When I was in elementary school, one of the highlights of a half day of school was heading over to Sub Stop for a sandwich. Most sandwich shops/delis are the same, and walking in you would probably think the same thing. Where things get different is when you look at the menu before you order. Sub Stop uses ONLY Boars Head brand deli meats. Which, IMO, is the higher standard among other brands of deli meats and cheeses. You never have to worry about water logged turkey sandwiches again. When your sandwich is prepared it is not some pre-sliced charade ala Subway or Quick Chek. The owner slices everything right in front of you. It goes from the deli casing, sliced, right to your sandwich. That, IMO is what makes every sandwich shine here. Plus, the guy is no slouch when it comes to filling up a sandwich. The sandwiches are HUGE, thick, and the taste is great. The dressings they use are even outstanding. The mayo is something I can't seem to find replicated anywhere else, and is so delicious! The lettuce, onions, and any other fixing you want is fresh and vibrant as well. Sub Stop also has a few different "signature" subs. One of their most famous subs is the aptly titled "Belly Buster" with various meats and cheeses. A tasty powerhouse that will definitely fill you up. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the sandwiches. A half will run you around an average of about $5.50, with a whole being around the $10-$11 range. I'm a big guy with a big appetite, but even that withstanding, a half will definitely suffice. When I do get a whole, it will make for another meal for sure. The one downside is that like many sandwich shops of this nature, they close early, but not at 6pm, its not as early as others. The only problem is sometimes he will run out of sub rolls towards the end of the day. This rarely happens though. If you are ever in the market for a great sandwich in the Roselle area and want to impress your friends, this is the place to go. Quality deli cuts, nice portions, fresh fixins, and a taste that will bring you back for more. A true Roselle landmark that still to this day is as great as the first time I ate here. read more

This is the best Sub Stop (see what I did there) hands down! Pete/Lisa and crew really know what they're doing over there. The service is always fast, fun, and friendly. The subs are also extremely reasonably priced for what you get. I live in Hoboken, and when I come home to visit family and friends, I make it a point to be there before it closes at 6. This place is AMAZING. If you go anywhere else for a sandwich/sub, you're doing it wrong. I first discovered this place from a coworker who had brought in a few sandwiches for lunch one day. And I was blown away. The quality is to die for and the price is unbeatable! Also, the staff is incredibly friendly. It can't get much better than that. I live in Staten Island and have been dying to get these owners to open shop here! My coworkers order here weekly for lunch and we get about 15 sandwiches.
